Akoko LG in edo state Na yoruba speaking part of edo state.. They are edo citizens but of yoruba ancestry.. Even Benin people bear yoruba names too, no surprise, historically, both yoruba and Benin people are descendants of oduduwa.. Although both constantly fight for who was oduduwa first, but bottom line, is they are both related and same people

quote author=seunmsg post=129329194]Why do they all have Yoruba names in Edo state? All their leading aspirants are either Olumide, Olayinka or Akintunde. Now, Omobayo is their deputy governor. If not for Yoruba, then for no get anything for that state. Yorubas just dominate everywhere.
Una funny sometimes, you think he is yorub? Una forget say edo state get yoruba speaking people for edo north, places like Akoko edo, Na yoruba names dem they bear and for reason I believe it's historical or whatever, yoruba names and people has always been present in edo state.. Am from edo myself n names bayo, taiwo, Ade etc, are very common names in edo state (akoko edo especially) and also very common among Benin speaking people. The rational for that I don't know but I belive its somehow linked historically to oduduwa just like yoruba people.

Family / Re: Nigerian Men Married To White Women What's Your Experience? by Psammmy(m): 7:59pm On Jan 16
Well women are the same everywhere, good bad n not too good, whether black or white. as someone who has been married to a white woman for 14 years n counting.
I will say it's been great and well. after the initial hick up n bickering because of cultural differences et al. Offcourse I miss Nigerian food etc but after eating oyinbo food for many years, I can hardly eat pepper anymore n anytime am in naija, my stomach hardly is at peace😂😂😭
Most nigerians in Nigeria or newly arrived here are marrying for papers to settle down, so they marry old women or anything the can find coz time is running out(especially those asylum seekers in UK or America ) just to get permit, green card etc but however if you marry out of love, then it's a different story..

I don't know about other white women from other countries but Scandinavian women no get ur tyme whether you get money or not, if them like you, Na to the finish line with u bi dat.

There are the usual fights n quarrel but if you love each other n as a black man, if u can keep your pe.. nis in check or at least hide ur away matches very well, you will be fine. People believe with oyinbo women everything from house work or food making Na 50/50, big lie, if you be beta male by nature women go sense am fast whether home or abroad n take advantage of am.. Be a man, take care of your responsible, take charge n lead, ur oyinbo woman or wife go bi like puppy dey follow you.. Personally I have Never washed my clothes or make food for myself over 10 years, Na wetin you go enjoy when you make your woman(black or white) the envy of her mates or family
Ps :
For those who want to come for me, Am 9 years older than my wife n met her when she was 19. I married her coz I fell inlove❤️😂🤣.. Everybody story different

quote author=MatthiasChin post=127962959]In Nigeria today most people see marrying a white girl as a very risky thing.

owing to the fact that you may get divorced, your children may never come back to Nigeria and all of that....

But I'm of the belief that some countries have white women who are exceptionally loyal and cool headed, Brazil for example.

But yet I will like to here a firsthand experience story..

Sir please give us your candid advise...

Travel / Re: Reconsidering The Call To Japa: A Counter Perspective by Psammmy(m): 12:46pm On Jan 16
Let who wan travel to travel.. We are all Nigerians both home and abroad n we all know how both ways work.. Anybody wey travel make him travel, naija still get 200 million people for house for Nigeria.. Even countries like China, India et al, thier citizen still travel. Everybody get reason why e travel.
If I bi moderators, I for Don block this japa nonsense new, Na old news and e don stall..

quote author=OmoGomesIlorin post=127418620]Reconsidering the Call to Japa: A Counter Perspective
Rejoinder to 11 Reasons Why You Must Japa From Nigeria
https://www.nairaland.com/7936687/11-reasons-why-must-japa#127418405

The recent post enumerating 11 reasons to encourage individuals to "Japa" from Nigeria presents a one-sided view of the situation. While acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, it is essential to consider a more balanced perspective before making such a life-altering decision. Below are my counterarguments to the points presented:

1. Diverse Futures in Nigeria:
The assertion that the future in Nigeria is uniformly bleak oversimplifies the complexity of the nation. Nigeria has a diverse and growing economy, with numerous success stories in various sectors. By actively participating in and contributing to the local economy, individuals can positively impact their own and their families' futures.

2. Access to Quality Life in Nigeria:
Nigeria does face challenges, but it also offers opportunities for a quality life. Investments in education, healthcare, and security are underway, and many individuals are successfully navigating these systems. Emigrating is not the only path to a fulfilling life.

3. Poverty Beyond Borders:
Generalizing that everyone who leaves Nigeria escapes poverty oversimplifies the multifaceted nature of economic challenges. Many Nigerians living abroad face their own financial struggles, and success is not guaranteed solely by leaving the country.

4. Life and Spiritual Fulfillment:
Suggesting that all life and spiritual problems end upon leaving Nigeria oversimplifies the human experience. People's beliefs and challenges vary, and attributing them solely to nationality is reductionist.

5. Prosperity Through Hard Work:
Success is not exclusive to geographical location. Hard work can lead to prosperity in any part of the world. Painting Nigeria as a place where success is only luck undermines the efforts of many hardworking individuals in the country.

6. Japa as Paradise:
Romanticizing emigration as paradise oversimplifies the challenges faced by immigrants in adapting to new environments. Success abroad often requires significant effort, resilience, and adaptation.

7. Trending vs. Critical Decision:
Making life-altering decisions based on trends may not be the most prudent approach. Trends are transient, and considering individual circumstances and goals is crucial in making such a significant decision.

8. Individual Paths and Success:
Labeling those who stay in Nigeria as failures oversimplifies success and happiness. Many individuals find fulfillment and success by contributing to the development of their home country.

9. Due Diligence and Informed Choices:
Ignoring due diligence when deciding to emigrate is risky. Thorough research and understanding of the destination country are essential to make informed decisions that align with personal goals and values.

10. Remaining Population in Nigeria:
Exaggerating the number of people who have emigrated may not accurately represent the current situation. Many Nigerians choose to stay and contribute positively to the nation's growth.

11. Life Expectancy and Mortality Rates:
Associating life expectancy solely with geographical location oversimplifies the factors influencing mortality rates. Health, lifestyle, and access to healthcare are significant contributors that vary globally. There locals who still live above 80 years.

In conclusion, the decision to emigrate is deeply personal and should be based on a comprehensive understanding of individual goals, circumstances, and the evolving landscape of the home country. Painting an entire nation with a broad brush may not capture the diverse experiences and opportunities available within it.
Your written bullshit and attempt to discredit and castigate japa is horrible.. Let who wan travel travel..
First and foremost, not everyone who japa or live abroad do shitty jobs, I for one, has oyinbo people working under me for the past 8 years n counting in Finland..
A yoruba lady, I won't write her here, head one of the biggest healthcare company in Helsinki..(mind you, she wasn't born here, actually did first degree in Ife)
I know few Nigerians who own Companies n employ Finnish people( igbo n yoruba extraction) . If people can achieve these in non English speaking country, I believe dey do better in UK, USA etc.
Now to your question, nothing like de emasculation or de masculinity, the truth is this, as everyone knows, abroad gives women power, in fact the ratio is 60 percent for women n 40 percent for men, however, oyinbo wey get country, this does not make thier women go crazy. this is not a problem for them as this how thier life as always been. However, nigerian!/African women who the reverse was the case before in Nigeria(where men hold sway over everything) are suddenly expose to these rights n power, they go crazy n throw family values through the window. Also those no good women who have abroad for eternity will enlighten these women on their power play rights etc
This is manly responsible for the divorced rate after first few years living abroad.. It has nothing to do with job.. You guys should stop spilling these rubbish.. Less. I forget, if u are bringing your wife abroad, avoid Nigerian churches like the Redeem etc. If not ur marriage go end in one year.. Religious folks can come for me.

sukkot:
So guys we need to understand that women are drawn to protectors and alpha and strong men. It is how they are wired.

Something happens to a Nigerian man when he gets abroad and the women notice it. The man gets emasculated by society.

He goes from being a strong figure of authority in Africa to an unwanted disrespected black man in the west.

Even a 17 year old white boy on the job can almost slap that 40 year old naija man on the job and he will be shaking and calling the 17 year old boy, Sir.

The man is emasculated by society. Goes from being an alpha dog in naija to a puppy in the west.

Our women sense these things and to a woman if you are not an alpha dog you are just useless.

You start emptying the trash and making breakfast and washing dishes now as the man. Jobs that you used to hire maids to do for you in naija.

Not only can a 17 year old white boy disrespect you on the job but you are now a dishwasher at home. You have no value in society.

Anywhere you turn up you are not celebrated but tolerated.

After a while the woman starts to see that this guy is truly worthless to me, why do I need to coexist with this emasculated societal reject ?

I am better off by myself and I can get a better job than him here as a nurse.

He has become a burden to me.

This is why most women chase their husbands away from home after they both relocate abroad

Favela is actually the name of a tree that grows on the hill where they built houses, and over time they started called houses built on a hill in similar fashion a Favela.

One day I decided to film my journey while I walked through the favela I was staying. It was a mistake and I will never do it again.

In the favelas, there are always drug dealers, and if they think you are an undercover cop, they can easily take action and get rid of you. So walk around with a camera was a dumb move on my part.

Someone approached me about it, he was not happy, and he explained to me and everything was cool after. I stopped recording right away.

Show off is the problem with Nigerians and the reason the host country starts hating and all the beefing especially from third world countries citizens.
An example, I remember back 2006 during my 8months studies program in Tuberculosis institute new Delhi-India. There is this church called international Christian Centre in new Delhi, on Sundays you will see nigerian guys coming to church with exotic cars with indian drivers amidst the bitting poverty indians are facing, I mean poverty in India is worst than naija. These guys don't even have residence PERMIT not to talk of legit job.. A particular naija man that time, they call him "Oledo" I think he is igbo, he spends dollars like paper n is been driving around in exotic cars he owns.
Social media wasn't that big then, Imagin the hate it would be today.

After the presidential elections, offcourse people will go on to vote or any party or persons they supported before. this has nothing to do with voting for Obi.
