RomanceRe: Why Do Ladies Leave Their Things Behind In A Guy's House? by Psittacus(m): 9:13am On Apr 29, 2017
Alero3Arubi:
The English language has some wonderful anthropomorphic collective nouns for various groups of animals.

We are all familiar with:
A Herd of cows,
A Flock of chickens,
A School of fish &
A Gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known nouns are:
A Pride of lions;
A Murder of crows
A Murder of ravens
An Exaltation of doves

And, presumably because they look so wise, a group of owls is referred to as:
A Congress of owls.

Now, consider a group of Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all animals. And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not ............a Parliament. English Language refers to a group of baboons as - A PARLIAMENT OF BABOONS!

I guess that pretty much explains the things that come out from Nigeria's National Assembly!!!

Just thinking aloud sha.

RomanceRe: Do You Sleep With Clothes On? by Psittacus(m): 7:06am On Apr 29, 2017
Everyone sleeping unclad, it seems you don't live in areas where the weather is always in the extreme.
during the harmattan season in Zaria or funtua, I dare not sleep unclad .
I sleep with four clothes on, double socks, a pair of thick hand gloves and a head warmer like I'm heading to the moon.

when the heat comes, the kind of insects that roam around these regions are super fly, hell bent on sucking you dry and super gigantic. You will want to build a fortress against all these before you are exterminated ..

GboyegaD:
Do not enrol in a doctoral program because it is an alternative to what you want because there are days that it could be frustrating. Ever thought of preparing for a departmental seminar on one of your papers and people thrash your work that you feel you have wasted your life all the while? Sincerely, what keeps the going sometimes is that you are doing what you really want.

That said, why not think of getting funding abroad for your program since often times, the school will fund all you need? Think through this option and should you think you want to do the research in Nigeria, then try apply for the various fundings available within the country.
Thank you so much.

I am a bit emotional about your cause, not because you tagged me, but much more because I will have taken a path like yours. I have a first degree in Zoology, with speciality in Genetics. My supervisor wanted me to continue as a research assistant, but I got a job in the private sector and had a partial "calling" for IT back then. I still fancy my littel work in genetics (Speciation)

Now to your plight.......

Have you considered looking for sponsorship? Write to friends, family, church, NGOs, scholarship boards etc. You are can get assistance where you do not imagine. Consider looking towards the Scandinavian countries, follow people with related interest on twitter like Dr. Dipo Awojide https://twitter.com/OgbeniDipo, who can furnish you with information about scholarship opportunities in the UK
Thank you for the wonderful advise. I will work on it.
RomanceRe: Reason Why You Should Marry On Time by Psittacus(m): 9:51am On Mar 31, 2017
L0velyn:
Dear young guys at 22 to 28
Don't make silly mistakes, marry now with the little you have, don't wait to be a millionaire, have kids early so you can grow with them...grow with ur kids and succeed with ur wife, you will never finish making money or achieving your plans, you might still not succeed at your target year, so start your life early with consistency you will grow, I had this one friend at 22 he told me he was always on making billions before getting married so many years later billions didn't come yet no wife or Kids, he had an opportunity to marry the love of his life very early after he graduated, but his fear was "can he take care of her" she's married now with two grown up children. ...the guy she married was still schooling then, but had the courage they worked hard and succeeded together

So if you can feed your self , you can feed ur wife, you have to believe it marry early don't wait don't start regretting after.... You see ur childhood friends who are already married most of them are not doing well as you, but they are happier, trust me it isn't about money only, but Rather your happiness depends entirely on your wisdom with a well planned life they are happier...

So what your problem? You wanna build mansions? Roll Royce ? Marry Sharon stone type but still you don't have those things you dreamt of and of course the years wasted!!! And still can't have them....

Don't pray to be 60years old and your kids will still be in their 20's, what are you , Supposed to be at that age, their grand father??
Get married, don't be afraid that girl you are finding fault In has many good qualities if you look well, don't ever think you will get everything before you settle down, God can change your life in a blink with a good wife by yourside you will succeed!!!!
Nice, I guess I should just ask you to be my wife ..lol

passey:
My brother, I am physically challenged too, have been, for over 30 years now. I have a paralyzed left foot and use crutches to move around.
I was also in a similar condition with you or even worse- a poor orphaned dude from a very poor family. My blessed Mumcy was frying Akara to support a family of 7 kids. The good news is that I managed to get my self educated working as a barber on crutches and selling used clothes of course with the much my Mumcy could give me which was never more than 3k.
I now hold a Masters degree, married to a beautiful lady who graduated from the same university with me and we are blessed with 2 beautiful kids, a 5yrs old boy and a months old beautiful girl.
By the grace of God, I worked as a lecturer in the university before moving to a multinational IOC with a monthly salary in seven figures!
Now I don't say all these to boast but to encourage you to put your head down and work hard for yourself and for your own life. Don't be distracted by frivolities and my brother, when you succeed you will have a choice of the most beautiful ladies around and God will give you one that will truly love you for you. people will be falling over themselves to identify with you.
By all means get a trade so you can be making some money to keep you going without depending on anyone. Make sure you get educated and ensure that you make atleast a 2.2 because that will count for you, aim for a first class, even if you are going to a poly or COE. As a person with disability, you need twice the amount of efforts required by others to get the same things they get. You must be extra focused but you can surely make it... take it from me, bro.
Polish your talents and skills... try boldly approaching a radio station and ask to volunteer seek help for an opportunity to learn....
there is so much you can do...
it is not a this ability, I call it These-abilities!
Feel free to contact me... May God help you!!
inspiring, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Growing up in Nigeria was fun, and I had the opportunity to listen to lots of talented musicians/music artistes and groups from Africa's most populous black nation ranging from the likes of Onyeka Onwenu, to Asa, to TY bello, to psquare, to wizkid, style plus and so many more.

But among all these, one voice was among the "special few" that did stand out. He was known as, "The masked one". A lot of people still don't know the face behind the mask of this music legend, though recently, he unmasked his face in honour of his daughter's wedding.

His name is "Lagbaja". cheesy

Lagbaja, originally known as; Bisade Ologunde, who is currently based in Manhattan, new york, USA is a Nigerian afrobeat musician, singer and song writer.

He was born in year 1960 in Lagos state. He is from Odogun's compound, ijagbo community in Ogun local government area of Kwara state.

The Nigerian music icon, adopted the name, "lagbaja" ( meaning "anonymous" or "The faceless one" in Yoruba).

He is also an instrumentalist, who plays the saxophone. He made his debut in year 1993 into the music industry and since then, he has been able to fascinate us with his unique style of using traditional African drums/instruments.

His music is purely instrumental but sometimes, they are sung in Yoruba or English or a blend of the two. Most of his songs entertain, while some send a serious message which is most times, filled with humour.

He has won awards such as, Nigerian music awards in 2001, including artist of the year, producer of the year, and album of the year. He and his band performed on the African stage at the BBC music live festival over the Golden jubilee celebration at London's Hyde park in summer 2002.

The songs and punchlines of lagbaja are still in use in our society today. From "konko below", to "gra gra", to "skentele", to "nothing for you", and a few more. His songs and style are ever green and will always be remembered by Nigerians and other Africans, who got wind of his talents also.

Lagbaja was like a breath of fresh air that blew and made us bask in the beauties of true music.
Many legends and class acts come and go. But in lagbaja, we have one who cannot be buried in the annals of history but will always live long in our memories.

There are spirits brave,
There are legends true,
There are legacies eternal and also talents extraordinary.

In the masked one, we had almost all these... smiley

He is truly one of Afrobeats' finest of the finest and King of African Jazz....

Here's to saying; "Lagbaja, some of us still miss you and your music which always offered laughter, entertainment, hope and love".

Lagbaja is a true icon of music not just in Nigeria, but in Africa and till date in the 17th year of the 21st century, is still missed despite the boom in music dynamism and styles across the continent called, "Mother Africa". Lagbaja was a genuine super Original.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Dear Jobseekers, What's Your Pain And How Can You Be Helped? by Psittacus(m): 11:07am On Jan 23, 2017
My pain as a graduate is people criticizing my choice of course (Zoology) and telling me I'm hopeless and I'm as good as I haven't gone to school at all. it's frustrating and demoralizing. I have been to several people and places and mere seeing my qualifications, there first response is " I hope you know this is not a Zoo".

Well life goes on anyway and suicide is not an option for me, cos life is a gift, and I intend to make the best outta of it till my last breath. Graduated from ABU Zaria in 2012, my objective is to prove all this doubters wrong and to show dem I can make a life in this field, and hopefully provide opportunities for others in my situation and those after me.

Zoologist are intelligent people, they don't have brains for raising chimps and Monkeys alone. They use strategies, proper planning, pure and advance scientific method for solving problems. Their knowledge of animal behavior, development, and physiology makes Zoologists wonderful human resource managers.

Zoologist are not archaic and sedentary, zoologist are IT savvy as as well and are in-tune with modernization , no life sciences can exist this days without bioinformatics, which involves advance programming language, diverse computer applications and lots data gathering which would be curated.

In Heath care, zoologists are not left out, from parasitology, helminthology, virology, epidemiology and all other laboratory practices, they are also competent.

I am one of those..... I have good grades as well (if that's what you looking for)

I have PGD in Education, my Msc in Cell Biology and Genetics ,the field I'm most excited about out of all others. Where I get to discover the powerful secrets the creator ingrained in humans and other animals...my plan is to be a genetic counselor someday in the future. But right now I still need a job and that will not happen if employers think I only have knowledge for raising chimpanzees and Zebras.

Thanks for reading my epistle.. lol,

I have searching for a gf, met some girls who turned out to be nasty gold diggers, I didn't wanna waste my time on them cause I'm not a flirt, I'm not looking for a short term relationship so having "fun" with all these girls seemed like a waste of time to me as Sex is not my problem, love is.

So I met this girl few days back, we got talking, I fell for her instantly, she looked calm and very honest, she is not all these girls who do kk in chat, she is caring and very simple, hard to come by., we flowed really well chatting and I was very happy I found someone as I quickly asked her out and she said "let's see how it goes"

I said okay, so today being Sunday, normal chilling day, I called her, very eager to see her beautiful face once more, we got talking and she said I should come to her side.

So I said okay by six,

Six reach I entered road straight to her side, 30 mins drive, when I got close I dialled her number twice she didn't pick I thought maybe she was taking her bath or something was patient and kept on going, so when I got there by 7pm, I called and called but she didn't pick up the call and she was expecting me o!

Na so I begin call her, Even send whatsapp message and direct message all to no avail. I got so maddddd and pissed off, I almost cried because I don't know why I'm being treated like this by ladies. Head to toe I complete, face I fine, fashion sense Is great, but yet, my handsomeness and the growing cash I get can't even get me the slightest fly talk less about a lady

*sigh*

By 5 mins past 8 she called me, by then I was already going home, and she began to plead, this where error words.

"please I'm sorry, my elder brother took my phone to share WiFi, I didn't know he would go far"

I asked "didn't you tell him you were expecting someone"?"

She replied" i did na but he did not listen, I can't just come and stand on the road and be waiting for you, please don't be angry"

In my heart I said Chai! What kind of excuse is this?? This girl just told me indirectly that I'm not important.

So painful.

I see guys with their girl very happy preparing for Christmas, me i have none. All I do is admire beautiful couples and wish It could be......

Unfortunately the sad reality greets me in my face.

I begin to lose my self confidence gradually because of rejection.

Smh, all I feel right now is self pity, all I can do is lament.

I don't know if I just dislike women right now self. embarassed
I feel your pain my brother, cos I was in a similar situation. At least you just met this one a few days ago. This girl I have known for ova 6 month, I asked out 4 days ago and she said she was cool, since then, she never pick my call talkless of replying my instant messages.
But I have found peace and rest of mind in other things. So my brother, these feelings doesn't make you less a man, let go of apathy and live well. A lady who wil appreciate d man you are will surely come around, but know that she won't fall for a depressed man. So get up your saddle and live free and protect yourself from emotional breakdown.
