canada will favour you blueyuchay: Landing gist!!!!
I used Egyptair. Left by 2:30pm on Friday Jan 7 through Abuja. I was asked to print all my required docs so they can scan it - Covid test results, ArriveCAN, school fees receipt, enrollment letter. My luggage was not searched. Arrived Cairo for 5 hrs layover by 8:40pm. Boarded for Toronto from Cairo by 2am and I was asked for Covid test results and ArriveCAN before boarding.
Arrived Toronto 7am. Joined the queue where I had to self register my travel docs and I got a receipt.
After that, I joined another queue where they asked for my receipt, passport and ArriveCAN. Then I was asked to join another queue to get my study permit.
I was asked for my study permit approval letter (letter you get on your account after your passport has been stamped). Because I didn’t have a physical copy, they asked for my passport and I was asked to wait with others. Then my name was called, I went to meet the lady, she asked my school name, course name and if my classes have started. Then gave me my study permit.
From there I went to pick up my luggage, then I was directed to where I submitted my receipt and exited the airport.
Please I’m available for more info if you have questions. Thank you |

please like how much you had in total before applying cause i wish to apply as self employ too kindly help with best amount of money someone should have in account thanks ManLikeMace: If you are a self sponsored applicant you need to pay attention to your application even more. I am a photographer and I was self sponsored with no scholarships. I payed half of my first year tuition and also had enough funds in my account for my remaining one and a half year tuition with living expenses for two years. Because I am a photographer I think I had to show that I had the whole money for my tuition saved as nobody would be here to continue my business even though I told them I had a studio here that’ll continue functioning after I’ve left. I also got rejected twice as my gcms notes said they didn’t think spending that much money to study photography was worth it and blah blah blah with some other things like family ties and all that so I had to switch my course to film making and explain from the angle of how nollywood is really growing and the need for more film makers in Nigeria and all that. I also spoke about how there are no good film schools in Nigeria and Africa in general compared to what’s available in Canada in my SOP. I still got rejected sha and because I knew my application was strong I did a judicial review, settled out of court and got my visa.
I also submitted a lot of invoices from work I have done for clients and also submitted the receipts for my camera gear I own just to show that I am really invested in my business. I submitted my business registration (very important) then submitted 3 account statements. One personal, one business and one was a fixed deposit type account with all my study funds in it. For my account statements I used the my VISA bank statement thing so I didn’t have to print out all my bank statements. I just got the slip and uploaded them.
I used my parents and siblings as family ties and didn’t submit any land documents and all that as I no get. I also spoke about how I have an established photography business here that I’ll be coming back to. I submitted my waec certificate but I no go uni so I didn’t have that to submit. I think that was the only educational document I submitted. I also submitted a police report.
Anyway if you are self sponsored I think you have to show you have enough money for at least two years to be on the safe side. I’m not saying this applies to everyone as visas are granted based on the officers discretion.
I hope this helps somebody out there. |

maybe VO discretion from each center were different MARINA49: Good evening house. I decree we shall have loads of PPR tomorrow. My friend, a Nigerian residing in the Gambia just got his PPR this morning. He had initially applied from Nigeria in July because he thought that could give him an edge since it's his home country, but unfortunately he was refused. He reapplied again from the Gambia (a legal resident) early October and got his PPR this morning without any significant changes from his previous application.I'm just Baffled and he was actually surprised on why he was rejected in his home country and accepted in a foreign land. To the gurus in the house ,What could be reason ? Just curious |

halleluyah please can you share light on your interview adextetoo: I hope this helps someone
Timeline
Mar 31 - I cancelled my previous booking
Apr 1st (0:05) - resubmitted for Category B
Same first week of April - requested for a new admission letter from school since I deregistered the previous semester due to lack of concentration from online studies and woeful exam (p:s I don't like bad records)
Second week of April - got new admission letter for winter 2021
April to September - I kept hoping for appointment
September 15 - Enrollment for new semester started, but I ignored
October 8 - Miracle happened I received mail from the embassy for appointment
October 9 - I cancelled my vacation trip to Tanzania because I won't be back on the appointment date given by the consulate (devil wanted to double cross me but God no gree)
October 9 - I sent mail to school I wanted to pay for enrollment because I sincerely gave up on the quest. The school told me deadline was October 14
October 10 - I sent money
October 14 - Money hasn't been confirmed (see devils at work)
October 14 - I started sending mail and copied both necessary and unnecessary people from my school. Ema je ki owo jona meaning don't let my money burn.
October 15 - I was given a favourable response that the deadline won't affect me since I told them I have made the payment (yet my mind wasn't at rest)
October 18/20 - Enrollment letter was issued
Nov 5 - Appointment date (something unusual happened; The interviewer told me my block account wasn't fully funded)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh I felt like crying. Although I funded 10600 euros which was more than the stipulated amount because I had a premonition of something like this. Yet I was given a shocker...let me explain what happened!
After registering my fintiba account in 2019 (so you now know I have been on this for 2 years) the embassy initial started with 8600+ euros then moved it up to 9600+ then again 10233 I guess. My fintiba block account read 10233 as the blocking contract which I wasn't even aware it has increased to 10382 euros (if I am correct)
After the interview the BO told me to quickly make the necessary changes within 7 days (she didn't believe I funded fully)... On leaving the Consulate I switched my phone on and started browsing to confirm where the error was, I made the required changes to the blocking contract and immediately sent a mail to the consulate explaining what happened.
Note: I won't talk about my issue with Mr Paulinus...That man ehn!!!
Nov 16 - The embassy sent a mail I should forward my updated blocking contract which I did almost immediately
Another round of silent days I kept calling once every two weeks
December 16 - Approval Mail came and request to send my passport and travel insurance. I forwarded it same day through FedEx
No response again ahhhhhhhhh this people
December 23 - Got a call while eating amala from a courier man, I initially thought it was jumia ....lol but when he said from Ger....man I stood up immediately.
I received my Visa and my original documents
December 27 - I left Nigeria via Lufthansa (I don't want to hear say lockdown hook me for Naija)
December 28 - I arrived Deutschland
All Glory To God
Although it took two years but it eventually worth the wait.
In addition: while looking for alternatives I got: 2 Admissions in US (One with Tuition Waiver) 4 Admissions in UK Sat for IELTS within one week of preparation ( Scores 7.5)
Can somebody shout hallelujah!!! |

lol that cool HRprof: The result will be given to you hard copy and they might also sent you soft copy via email but I waited and collected my result handy. I did mine at CDG airport covid center . Meanwhile, I never did any PCR test in nigeria because I dont need it at the time I traveled as fully vaccinated passenger. Even the one they ask us to do when arrived after 7 day . I didn’t do it , I just registered as required to pass the airport on arrival |
