We have capacity and capabilities. We should stop wasting time. There is a vacant position in the economic space of Africa and the world that a success hungry set of people can exploit. It just needs bringing resources and concrete plan. I bet you, in the next couple of years, Abuja will look like a wasteland. If we can stop all these nonsense praise and worship of our leaders, we won’t move so fast.

I have said before and will reiterate it again, the resources in the hands of our government is not capable of developing the region. Whether you love to see it or not, we can only maintain the status quo or degenerate to something worse if we keep sustaining the economy with these peanuts. We gather more resources and people to push for development and control of the economic space in Nigeria and Africa at best.

No one is seeing open space at the top except a very few set of people. I can see that we can get there. We can reduce poverty, improve health care, gather talent, export our products if we only work to achieve these things.

What breaks my heart about Igbo land is that Igbo people have the most power of diaspora in Nigeria and can harness that to create a booming region.

It happened in Aba in the 70’s and 80’s. Nice city that Igbos from all around the world and foreigners could move to and live just like Lagos and Abuja today. All that is required is to create basic roads and drainages with side walks and basic sanitation so the city resembles a place human beings live in and not animals.

To repair every current road in Aba would take less than 100 miles of road repair. Any serious government can do it in a year.

Even a joke of a government that only repairs 25 miles of road a year in Aba would have the city with a better road network than Uyo or PH or Lagos or even Abuja.

If Ikpeazu handled only 18 miles of road a year since he was inaugurated Aba’s road networks would be the best in Nigeria in his 5 years. But the level of wickedness in his heart and that of his puppet masters is so much that they rather pay an army of propagandists to spend all their time on forums like this and social media pretending that the reality of Aba and Abia state isn’t what it is. They promote photo ops of the governor around manual cement mixers with wheel barrow and expect people to applaud it.

How can one be this wicked to his own home city killing its enormous potential and his own ethnic group? Yet Igbo people here are fooled into thinking Fulani’s, Buhari, Abba Kayiri, Yoruba’s etc are our problem.

The mere fact that Igbo states perform the best. With all five states finishing in the top 10, with 4 of them typically finishing in the top 6, Says otherwise.

Self-determination (either as an independent republic or in a truly federal Nigerian setup) is the only way Ndigbo can reach their full potential and be in a position to fashion out favourable policies in the sectors you highlighted! Anything short of this would amount to nothing more than more-of-the-same....a continuation of the status-quo which has seen bigots, Igbo haters and envious mofos continue to fashion out and impliment policies that are unfavourable to the Igbo businessman and AlaIgbo!

The current situation of meetings of south-east governors every now and again that never gets us anywhere; having Igbo representatives in the national assembly that are there just to make up the numbers; occassionally going to Abuja to bow before Buhari and beg him for what is constitutionally ours; each south-east state doing their own thing independent of the other four; etc......with all this still in place, trying to achieve even 20% of what you've mentioned above would be a excercise in futility! Abuja (whether by ommission, commission or by stealth) will always be there to place a spanner in the works. You think it's just by coincidence, there's no working int'l airport in the south-east since 1970; no effective and viable seaport in the south-south, equal to Apapa port, which can service our industrial/commercial cities in the south-east like Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi; no working rail line in the south-east and south-south, while the south-west and north-west get preferential treatment; no federal attention given to our industrial/commercial centres like was and is being done for Lagos, Kaduna and Kano; no president of Igbo extraction since 1966.....you think all this and more just happened to happen?

There has to be a solid foundation in place before all these ideas you mentioned can germinate and yield fruit! The cart has to be put before the horse!

Development is gradual and systemic. If we wait till we gain independence, then we will perish. It’s through self development that we can gain enough power for self determination. If you think you don’t like status quo of Nigeria, I will tell you sincerely, I love it. I love the fact that every other region are relaxed and not wanting more. This will give us the opportunity to cover the economic void they are leaving behind.

Hate the north or love them, power is important to control. We shouldn’t blame them for controlling what the entire universe even the igbos want to control. If we don’t like it, then we need to collect at whatever price and plan we can use. Self determination without a working system will be a Herculean task for us. Judging from the fact that we do not have the money nor the infrastructure to push for it. We need to start creating a distinct economic and infrastructural identity for ourselves. We need to capture the economy through a guerilla war model. We work in silence through a pattern whereby their final kobo must land in southeast. Money stolen must have a destination, and we can our region the destination.

I and my friends are trying to develop an economic pattern in this regard. Using data analysis to study the movement of economic resources and money around the country. How to get the best value from agriculture. How to capture the Fast moving consumer goods that will cut the Lagos-ogun trade zone from the bigger Nigeria. Identifying the weak points/people in the 19 northern states and how we can be the new power bloc.

From the work so far, we are still undergoing data gathering and some forms of restructuring to do better. But from preliminary calculations, the southeast needs about 100billion naira monthly to push for its economic dominance in Africa and not even Nigeria. This will push the poverty index in the region very low and secure the wealth of the people and the region. This economic plan will also ensure that more money enters the region than leaves it.

The missing link is: How do we get this amount every month? You can ask any financial analyst and put your answer in this thread. We will continue to work on them.

In the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000s, the transport sector was firmly in the hands of the igbos. Alas, everyone has woken up, modernization and competition has made the sector revenue coming to the igbos drop considerably.

The Auto sector is still thriving but with the coming of technology and ease of import, people are going to the source to get some of these goods themselves. Another hit on us again.

The Commerce sector has been heavily attacked from everywhere. We now have very strong competition in these sectors and it is killing businesses.

What is the problem? The igbos do not control the economy of Nigeria anymore. We are not in control and our region do not hold any strong advantage presently in the scheme of things. If we ask ourselves, what does southeast have that Nigeria depends on? Nothing. There is something about being unimportant. The only importance of the east is it’s people and the people’s capacity are being challenged continuously.

The igbo to survive really need to devise a strategy of total control of the sub Saharan market. We can be in control without having the capital city in our hands. We can create the biggest economy in Africa if we strategize very well.

There is a misused power in Nigeria that needs to be taken but if only we plan to take it, our freedom will surely be taken from us. Remember that every policy in Nigeria has not favored the igbo people in recent times. It has strangled us in no small measures that we will need to create a new route towards economic development.

I found out many of us in this thread have spent most of our times trying to micromanage our small development when others are eating fat on the total revenue of the country. Do we still have really big businesses in the east that can develop and generate funds for the region?

Do we have healthcare system that take care of us during our bad times and also redirect the over 1billion dollar’s Nigerians spend on health tourism around the world?

Do we have the capacity to create an economic giant from igbo land? Or should we maintain our state of economic comatose.

If we do not do something right now, we will regret it. I have always said it “our best times should be tomorrow not our yesteryears.”

I'm guessing this would be their GRA. I'm so impressed with how tidy, green and posh the area looks. So surprised with how good Abakaliki looks generally, because the NBS says Ebonyi is at the top of the poverty league in Nigeria. What i'm seeing doesn't lend credence to this assertion. Even some of the states they say are at the top of the prosperity/IGR league table would struggle to march what i'm seeing from Ebonyi as a whole! Some analysts like to use IGR as a marker for a states prosperity, but i reckon that's a flawed tool for measuring for a number of reasons....but i digress!

When the state eventually gets their airport, they would be unstoppable.

What is even wrong with you guys? Why can’t we take a decision and get things done? Sometimes we create our enemies ourselves because do not solve our problems but concentrate on those we choose to hate. If we had started doing what we discussed here in 2017/2018, I think we should have gone far now. But we love to discuss irrelevant issues.

I see a way we can send over 1000 students to Germany every year to gain masters degree in technical universities without breaking the bank. This can only be done through trusted channels like the state government. It’s very important for the development of our people.

If only igbo governors can donate 1billion dollars each every year for scholarship. This scholarship will be registered under the German government and make it easier for igbo graduates to get masters degree free from German universities.

That move alone can push 1,000 students yearly into Germany for masters degree and in turn 4000 in 4years.

In due time, we would have developed thousands of experts that will in turn return that money back into the system.

So you guys have not ended this decade long argument of who and who is igbo. Alot of time spent on these arguments will not make your states better.
