It's imperative that we youths with so much wisdom need to call a very huge conference in the east where all our leaders will be in attendance so that they can understand the need to develop the east in the image of 21st century. Our inability to take on laudable projects is really killing the economic vibe of the east. We are just joking if we keep flipping cards like now. 2 Likes |

I have gone through this thread and it's only on this thread that we see more of government projects. The other states cannot keep the thread alive without adding private individual projects. I am not against private individuals investing in the state but Okorocha is trying to open the state the best possible ways he can through physical infrastructures. The only issue I have with him is the part of industrialization. I think he is a little bit quiet in that regard and it will haunt the state in the future. A man that builds quality roads, structures, stadia, free education and other stuff should be applauded. The guy isn't earning as much as Kano talk less of Lagos and Akwa ibom. I am such a fan of him. I am not from the state but none of you can say that whenever you pass through the state, you will not see his touch. It's just lies. Imo people should be happy to have Okorocha. He was sent to put you guys up there. Seriously. 4 Likes |

To be very sincere, Okorocha is the best governor in the east. His projects outmatched other governors by far. Too many propaganda against the man will make it look like he isn't working. Mehn! That man is actually building structures. Real life structures and not memorandum of understanding! Just look at his projects, the taste in it alone should make you believe that the man has something in his mind. He just needs better advisers and more money. Other governors are just not trying. The people are faster and smarter than the government. |

We are trying but the economy doesn't have a road map. Different development everywhere but the destination is lacking. More so, environment in Anambra state is poorly maintained. Government needs to do more in that area. Anambra is the richest state in the east but the government always fall behind the enterprising nature of the igbos. With billions of naira every month, Anambra state hasn't caught up with its citizens in development. It's a pity that the people are faster than the government in critical planning and thinking. The government do not need high igr to succeed but he just needs good management skills. Manage your numerous big boys to build a bigger economy. Advertise multibillion naira projects with economic advantage and make these big boys invest in them. This alone will catapult Anambra to the level of the biggest cities in the world. We don't need Indians, Chinese and others to create a big economy in the east. The heart of the economy should be in the hands of the people. Give the oil magnates an alternative business that makes as much profit as oil and other people too. We can build a state of our choice if only we decide to build it. 4 Likes |

Keep studying the masterplan, can we draw out the best economic route for our products which will give us high returns. So that we can design our business routes to pass through this system. Which rail route shows more promise than the rest? 3 Likes |

Should we build our own rail system and forget about the federal government or will stick to the federal government plan but push for its implementation. The rail system passes through two cities in each state in igboland except Ebonyi and Enugu. What are your opinions about this? 3 Likes |

Please study this rail masterplan well. After studying it, please try and see if it favours the economic masterplan of igboland and how it helps when we become an industrialized people in the nearest future. 2 Likes

Handsomegod: Enugu will be the house of solar energy in the eastern region because of its elevation and landmass. I was opportune to design a power consumption system that will utilize 10KW solar system. It was a sweet project because it exposed me to the numerous opportunities solar power can provide for our people. The funniest part is that the professor is an igbo man from Anambra state. Then I was in the university of Benin. He called me and told me that this project is a money spinner, if I like I should take it serious and if I like I should play with it. I learned a lot of things from him and I really wish i learnt more after the project. Solar energy is a big deal and if we are not careful, we will lose it to other competitors with money. 3 Likes |

We cannot say federal government, this is what we need and disturb their lives to get it. This is due to the fact that igboland do not have an economic direction or plan. Handsomegod: To my governors it is another white elephant project without making money. But to those people who have sense, we are looking at one of the biggest investment our region hasn't looked into. We want foreign investors when our local investors can come with a good management team to manage this sector. Housing is not a dead project but a project that can make thousands of people millionaires in just a year. A good housing project will open other areas for business and market. We need to key into these areas now. 2 Likes |

Handsomegod: Your submission is totally true. The east doesn't have a working night life. A working night life can change the fortune of the east forever. We tend to close by 6pm and you see everyone running home as if someone is chasing them. Kano alone has a very vibrant night business life for retailers but we close our shops at 6pm. I know in building this kind of business environment will need other sectors to make it stay afloat. We will need to redesign our banking system to enable us to do business easily in the night without cash. This will make more confident in going about businesses in the night. We can take a big responsibility by lighting up the whole of Onitsha so that it will not experience darkness even at night. At least it will still fend off criminal activities in the area. This market is meant to feed over 80million Nigerians who might find it difficult to go to Lagos. We need to create a better alternative to Lagos. 5 Likes |

It doesn't make sense learning things you don't enough knowledge to practice. With SS1 - 3 spent on learning to understand, fix and manufacture simple things, these kids will know the exact direction they will be moving before they get to the university. As at SS3, student should be plumbers, electrician and other experts before they get better knowledge in the university. BUILDING A MALL CITY This is a new design I and my friends have thought about for the past few years. The igbos are a people with comparative advantage in some sectors in the Nigerian economy. With proper planning we can get a headquarter where all our strength can be seen from afar. Onitsha has been the biggest market in West Africa since 60's. With recent developments in science and technology and the increase in market size over the years, it has become imperative to redesign our market to be the next big thing like it was in the 60s but with a more modernized model. This model will: 1. increase the marketability of the products within its area, 2, improve the image of locally manufactured products. 3. Increase market size. 4. Improve tourism 5. Attract FDI within the region 6. Create businesses for programmers and ICT experts 7. Increase government revenue 8, make individuals richer and 9, create a better image for the igbo people. It was planned to be in Onitsha based on the fact that 1. Onitsha is the commercial capital of the east. 2. It's a border town in Anambra state. 3. It relates well with our anioma brothers. 4. It is easily assessable by anyone coming from the neighboring state or region. 5. It has a history of business. The design is to build big malls in a designated expanse of land. The malls are not going to be one or two but we are talking about 50malls. I know some of you must be crying about space but I assure you, space will be utilized and managed well. Each mall will have close to 500 shops each and they will offer products of similar kinds. For example, we can have a mall of electronics. This mall will house computers, phones, TV, decoders, etc. This will enable us to get data about customers buying from the malls and their interests. It will be easier for us to know the products that are having falling patronage per time and find ways to solve them. The mall city will be designed to cater for every need. You can get everything in this mall city. If you say you want to buy anything and it's not sold anywhere in Nigeria, Onitsha Mall City will have it. It will designed that online retail stores will use these shops as their suppliers. It will house a sound transport system that will transport goods bought to the most convenient spot the customer will need it. This mall city will be designed to open for 18hours in 24. This will help in night trading because the lighting system will be the best. There will be no night. Anytime you come to mall city, you have a customer and a buyer at all times. There will be sound movement direction system that will make customers not lose their way in the city. The roads will be well tarred. Will continue later. 3 Likes |

Sole proprietorship or one man business is been practiced by our people for over 40years. This style of business is gradually fading because bigger players are taking their customers. We need to stop acting like years ago and come together to build bigger corporation. For example, we can build the kind of resort seen in South Africa, Ethiopia and other countries that receives over 15,000 tourists per year. If our hotel builders can calm down and build a very big resort close to one lake or one natural endowment, we will just create a very good story behind such endowment plus additional facilities that can keep them busy for the whole they want to stay. It can honeymoon destination for couples and all. These big resorts generates billions of money in countries that manage them well. These businessmen can also come together to remodel Onitsha market to be the biggest and best retail destination in the world. People have not really looked into commerce like we can look into it. This is our major strength. We can build a big mall city consisting over 50malls and more than 5000 other outlets. This will have huge storage facilities for those industries without space. If these rich people come together and build such facilities and some people build parking lots and make money, the place can be getting nothing less than 50,000 inflow of people all over Africa. We need to synergize because we can make huge returns from this. These places just need good advertisement and facelift, we will get things done. 4 Likes |

On education, I must confess that the country and our region are getting it fantastically wrong in every way. You teach a child solar system in primary school and u go to integrated science, you teach him the same thing, then geography, he will learn solar system. The time taken to teach these kids this topic accumulates nothing less than one month (if the teachers are serious). Now let me tell you, many igbos are not going to space anytime soon and we will not act as if it is the next plan of our people. Why are we spending time teaching unnecessary subjects in levels where they should be more specific? In senior classes, kids are taught civic education, what's wrong with us for crying out loud? The senior classes should be practical oriented. We can spend the adolescent age of our kids to teach them real practical knowledge that will soon 7-9years and they will be the best of it. From age 13 - 21, if you want to create one of the best programmers, that's the age. One of the smartest business strategist, that's the age, one of the best engineers, that is the age. Convert all senior schools to technical, medical, business and scientific pre-universities. Let them learn the real world basics. Let them start using their minds well. Problem solving questions. Let them start conduit wiring and connections. Let's make anyone passing through our educational system be independent upon graduation. Not only these guys will move the economy forward but they can fit in anywhere in the world. Slowly but surely we will eradicate poverty from the land because education will kill it. 6 Likes |
