The voters turnout in the east was abysmally poor. I don't understand how after almost 1.5million will collect voters card and less than 25% will come out and vote. Why then did you collect the PVC? We were even banking on your seemingly high numbers to push your candidate but you refused. I am seriously not happy about this.

The western world is reaping the fruits of empowering the younger generation with skills that will keep making them competitive in the next generations. Bill gates, Jeff bezos, Paul Allen, etc are evident in our eyes today. We have been selling clothes even before Zara own it's first store. We are still stuck in the last generation with no end in sight. We have refused to do better than our fathers. Our fathers with the little education and information they had built a system that spread wealth in the pockets of millions of igbos today.

The wealth created through learning trade. This method of creating wealth has made many of our families rich and stable and unfazed with the present economic situation in the country. We have refused to understudy this system. Worst of all, we are killing the system by employing secondary school graduate on 15k monthly salary to learn the trade. This has made the spread of wealth stalled and it will have a devastating effect in the coming years.

Why will it become a problem? Education in Nigeria today do not make us self-sufficient rather it makes us more dependent on the government like other regions. We have been able to manage bad governance by not being dependent on the government. If we stop this method of wealth transfer, we will suffer a very strong blow in the coming years.

What options do we have now to avert the incoming problems we may start facing in the future? I can only give two:

1. Modify the present system: Since the economic situation and the perceived monopoly of commerce in the country by our people is becoming watered by the emergence of many players and bigger players. The government should be able to assist traders in opening a bigger markets that can whittle down the influence of bigger players who has seen the lucrativeness of this sector and wanting to take it from us. More monies should be in the pockets of traders through the creation of strategic microfinance banks. The design of our markets needs to be upgraded so that heavier products and bulkier products can be sold easily. We should embrace the internet because more products are flying through mail than going the the stress of traveling. We should incorporate online market system in the new design of our major markets in the east. Traders should be retaught about the importance of learning a trade and paying the students to keep the system going because standing alone will kill the sector we dominate.

2. Radical Change of our educational system: The present educational system we are practising in the east will make us poor next 20years. We will have knowledge but will not be able to produce nor practice with it. Our methodologies needs to be overhauled with new and innovative reasoning. Humans are like products. We need to produce real humans with content and not tabula raza. It should be noted that if Nigeria needs programmers, it should be coming from the east. If Nigeria needs the best neurologist, it should come from the east. If Nigeria needs the best civil engineers, it should come from the east. Our educational system should inculcate a level of real practical that can make a secondary school leaver capable of feeding himself from the knowledge gathered in his six years of study in the school. We shouldn't disregard many of these knowledge. Things they could have learned while in secondary school are many and we could design these things to help them in the future. Our university graduates should be experts in their field and not starter packs. It is through developing human contents that we can develop other areas of the economy.

If we handle our commercial and educational comparative advantage well enough, we will be able to keep all the economies of other states in the region on lockdown. We will be ruling their economies by proxy. We will not be able to be contained. For example, as we are having a filled market in Onitsha. Onitsha market management would have as a result of these understudy the population of people coming into the market to get products and ascertain the state the highest number of customers are coming from and create another cluster point by building another market mall there. This will increase sales, increase overall presence and create ease of doing business in Onitsha and other markets in the east. We will continue creating an imposing presence in the states and it will be difficult for us to be neglected.

While building a real educational system will help us is that, many of the projects we love to give to the Chinese could have been done better by our people with more love in their hearts than what we are seeing today. We could have built a working technological advanced system that will solve problems all over west Africa and the world.

Norway, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Holland, Australia, Switzerland and the rest are having shortage of skilled manpower. If we key into the shortage human capital in these countries, we might be able to solve it for them. Our people will gain from the improved pay and better system and migrate to such areas. This will reduce unemployment in the region.

There are many other things we can do but let me stop here and let other people bring better ideas.

I am pleading with you all. I know many of you love showing that you can use grandiloquent words effortlessly in your arguments. This is not the reason why we are here. None of us are even analysing anything about what is coming. After 2019 elections, we will come back to this thread and cry again of marginalisation and lack of infrastructure in the east.

It is imperative that you all should know that the development of igboland is easier now that we don't have any form of real responsibilities. Our government are not paying the police, custom officers and other activities the federal government are channelling money into. We have lesser number of people in the state workforce, making it easier to handle payment of salaries.

We are still here, seeing the lack of innovative reasoning our governors keep showcasing in governance in the region. Just some days ago, I saw that the benchmark for building one kilometre road in a metropolis is N238million. But we keep suffering from lack of roads when most of roads in the east link our villages to the city centre (one lane) and that cost just less than N100million.

We are not even making our research towards building a real infrastructural CBD and industrial estate that can make development easier for us before this phantom Biafran dream. No one is talking of embedded power projects and what is happening to the power projects in the east.

In the east our government are not involved in any business venture that can generate money for the state except taxation and Abuja money. I find this disheartening to say the least but we are not talking about them but just about nri, Ikwerre and Biafra.

None of you really cares about the future because as we can all see, 90% of you all stay at least 500kilometres away from the east. So you are enjoying the wealth and environment other governments provided for their people. We do not understand that as population keeps increasing, these states will start bringing up policies that will enable their indigenes get more opportunities than we that are visitors.

We need to start facing the real issues. We have close to 70million market to conquer within the next 10years before other people will. We need to use our capacity now before they will finally sideline us in the political calculation in this country.

We should start discussing please, so that we can find a real, strong and sustainable solution to the problems in igboland.

Your civil war propaganda runs deep.
As I said, all you want to talk about is the civil war.
And you keep forgetting that it is your soldiers who invaded the midwest, not the other way around !
It seems you want to blame the invaded for defending themselves.
Craze.

Aniomas are Edos.
Late Ogbemudia and Murtala Muhamed were Edo.
Chief Agho Obaseki was Edo like all Anioma are.
You guys keep claiming things to be merely "Edo-influence" as a way to try and deny Edo-identity.
Edo speak several diffrent languages, including languages very close to igbo or even yoruba.

Biafran soldiers never invaded Midwest. Your state was just at the middle of two warring parties and we had to pass through to attack from that end. Why didn't record a high amount of bloodshed. Because if we invaded you, then we wouldn't have been in ore in less than three days of leaving Onitsha. The Biafran soldiers were told never to attack anyone in the Midwest. So they didn't. The only time that we taught you all a lesson was when started poisoning water your people brought for us to drink. You started snitching to the Nigerian troops about our position. Then we had to make you all shut it.

And this idiot has the temerity to even invade this thread to start his "Anioma are Edo" madness... the bleeping disrespect.

I know this story. They poisoned many Biafran soldiers using Esan and Benin towns as camp when they were trying to invade ore. They were the ones who gave out locations to the federal troops. Never did the Biafran soldiers tried killing them until we started seeing our soldiers dying. That was when we raided the village for the culprits but unfortunately, the Nigerian soldiers had already taken an attacking position. We had to retreat after the first fail at ore.

If oil is discovered in lokoja river niger today, it will be owned 100% by nigeria

A sovereign nation has control over resources in the river moving within its territory and like 4nautical miles circumference.

i agree with all u said. I just want to say that tho i want anioma state created and added to SE, they really wont solve the biggest problem of SE which is direct access to sea port.

The only viable way to solve that is to include parts non-igbo SS into SE.

The smallest parts of SS we can include into SE to gain our sea access are the LGAs of khana, oyigbo and opobo.

Either we find a way to do the above, or we remain landlocked. Even if we add anioma and ikwerre join...still wont gv us the deep blue sea

The Ijaws love the way we do not have control of the sea. If we gain access, we become too powerful to control. Will they love to release the land to the igbos, I seriously doubt the possibility.

What is our best shot? Can we lure the less aggressive Efiks, annangs and oron (Akwa ibom) to a round table and discuss business with them. They get to control the oil/gas and sea access and all other assets they might have. We can even tell them that they will be given a Lagos status. We can also rouse their emotions by using the last Biafran president, Phillip effiong to show that they can still rule the entity Biafra.

If they are smart, they will know that they are actually solving a real problem for 40million people who are heavily business conscious and they will never be poor with such realities.

Why am I running away from Ikwerre enclaves? Ijaws are nursing leadership of the Niger delta in their hearts and it will be very difficult for them to start losing territory that will make dem smaller. They will not agree with us. Opobo as we all know answer to ijaws in the state, so we cannot agree any terms with opobo without first getting the ijaws in line.

We can agree with the federal government to cede Rivers for Akwa ibom state. Since no real investment from the federal government in the state unlike Rivers, they will fight less.

I think you guys are underplaying the cultural diversity of the south south. As the Yorubas are looking for a stake in Atiku's government while the igbos are looking for presidency assurance come 2023. The south south people are relatively quiet.

You can also smell the division of purpose when you see the isokos and urhobos joining APC enmasse so that they can take power from anioma.

What am I trying to draw out from these? The south south we all think will push for exit after we might have gotten Biafra will be more incoherent than us. The political tussle that is silent will be so visible that they will just amount to another middle belt. Some of the ethnic groups who will want to Lord over the rest will have to kiss the palm of the caliphate to make it a reality. As you can see now, some of those groups are already rearing their ugly heads up.

This is to show you that many of your postulations might not be the case when we want to leave. I think the north and the southwest kept the south south to checkmate our excesses. They make them water down our influences by putting Igbo hating Igbos close to us in the south south.

So the best bet for us is to bring down one of those defences down. The anioma has always loved to control a state of their own. Why can't we fight for them to have it. With one condition of being added to the southeast. This alone will give them sense of belonging to push for a southeastern agenda because they know they will benefit from it. We will not have real issues with these groups because they also have high HDI as a group.

This will radically make the southeast only Biafra fly with little dissenting voice of opposition in the country.

Pazienza

I was looking at these two maps and a thought struck me about the new biafran struggle.

I will suggest that if the biafran struggle ever gets serious, we can negotiate with gov on boundaries that work.

U see how close abia state is to the sea? Only 3 lgas in rivers state seperates abia from the deep sea.

We can negotiate with fg to gv us those 3 lgas which are Oyigbo, khana and opobo lgs. In return, we will for-go all igboland in SS. Including asaba and ph and every othet land outside se. That way, we wont be landlocked and we wont be taking strategic fg territories.

The people in those communities can be resettled like the bakassi pennisular case. Those who want to remain will be given authonomy within biafra. Recognising them as a minority group. They will have a share of sea port revenue with biafran govt.

Our oshimili and aniocha brothers in delta state can also declare that they must join us. Am sure fg and international community can and will respect that. The rest of delta igbo or rivers igboid can continue in nigeria with wat ever identity they choose.

As for oil, we can also negotiate to keep the current sharing formular for our 5 se states

Don't tell me you are being serious.

The only state agitation I would support is Anioma. Chopping up territory from 5 small SE states to piece together one small new state sounds quite extreme and such a state would be in political turmoil in our political climate where we're always arguing about rotational leadership. After an Orumba man is governor, the next time an Orumba man will smell it again will be like 30 years later. grin

I don't know what is wrong with the guy. Instead of adding population to your numbers, he is planning on dividing it more. I see that too many opinions can water agitation.

This is a good idea. However, everything depends on how sincere the leadership of IPOB is.

If they are sincere then they would see that it’s easier for a wealthier Igboland to achieve self determination than a poor one with little influence. Moreover, it should be obvious that the transition to self government will be easier if critical infrastructure is built now rather than afterwards.

If on the hand, they are pursuing an everlasting struggle and see IPOB as an alternative form of employment (or enterprise), you should expect resistance.

If you meet resistance, then it’s time to take your own message to the grassroots. NK and Mefor don’t have a patent on the methods they used.

Very good point coming from you.

Another question, can we start our own education. We try and get own large followers. Then they will see us as a formidable force too. Don't you think going now might make us look like a joke to them knowing that we don't have any backing.
Politics / Re: . by Purehuman(m): 3:05pm On Oct 24, 2018
Is there a possibility that we can sway support from the IPOB towards our own course or are we going to grow towards getting to meet with them and make real arrangement with them.

The truth is, they have tried in getting hold of the grassroots and I commend them for that. We will have to try not to combat them with getting followers in the grassroots. It's either we take the long route of constant education or the short root of making IPOB see reasons for our agitation.

What do you think?

There are so much work that need to be done on the minds of our people. We need money to stay in focus.

But,I don't think they are blind to it. They just lack unity in purpose.

Sometimes we give these leaders too much credence over nothing. Some of these people aren't smarter than us or have this big dream like we do. A person who thinks big will be seen through his projects and policies.

We are led by people who do not task their minds and that of their aides in ruling the states in the east. For instance, the kalus, the elechis, the udenwas and co did not think of a possibility of a bigger Igbo economy that can brought into reality through economic integration.

I know Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has a media representative on Nairaland. I have see them release statements in the past.

What's the solution?

These people in government are not gods but humans who had a mission to govern the present Igbo communities today. We can also dictate the kind of government we want by slowly bringing down every other political party in the east.

The major driving force to get these things going is the development of alaigbo that will benefit not just us but our children to come. An environment that will make it easy for one dream and make it reality.

Thank you. You are a breath of fresh air. My idea for Ndigbo is to create an economic driver that is totally insulated from Nigerian politics.

We need to create a properly structured development fund whose main goal is to invest in all the major critical infrastructures that the south east is lacking.

We can do this. It is possible. Just have someone like Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala run it.

You are such a pragmatic forward thinking genius. A very strong political system that can birth a strong developmental fund commission is the way when we infiltrate the political rank and file of the east. Because we will be looking at issues from a broad point of view and with likeminds who will not be playing the game of opposition in developmental matters.

This masterstroke alone coupled with willing citizens of alaigbo, we are set on a path of greatness.

Ndigbo we have to accept the reality that only us can truely develope our land. Presidency, vice presidency cannot do much for us.

We have to go on aggressive privatization and concession drive of all critical infrastructures in the south east.

It’s time for pragmatism.

This is someone thinking practically. Nigeria has shown countless times that we are not important in the country's plan. What we can agree the winners of any election is for projects and asset concessions to make developm in the easier for us.

We keep harping on the federal government to build rail transport in the east. To be frank, it is a good idea but we need to develop our own rail system. This is because the rail system the federal government will build will not be in consonance with the true needs of our business design in the future.

If we develop a good political and economic system that is in the right page with the federal government. I am proposing that we redesign our interstate roads to make movement of people, goods and services easier. We need a major road linking economic epicentres of the east easily. We can only get these things when we twerk with the federal government.

We need to start having real discussions that are more profitable in the nearest future than having to argue about our choice of leadership in this country.

Correct.
This must not necessarily be followed to the letter, but it's somewhat a guideline.

Therefore can we schedule a meeting this December somewhere in Alaigbo.

Speaking and writing are truly actions but they are not enough in some critical situations. And we have had a robust debate since the creation of this trade.
We're suggesting so much things to be done. I am convinced that they will be best achieved by us.

This is how to start, in fact, we have started. If not like this, how?

I support every move geared towards developing our region. I support every process that will give us the respect that we deserve over the years. I am ready to go to all the rural areas in the east to create this movement. We can get everyone to start playing the right politics that will make us gainers all the time.

The problem with us is that we don't like going through the process of nation building or we don't know how to do it. We tend to support other people without getting anything from them in return. Even when we make demands, we don't go through the process of making them come into fruition.

The development and emancipation of our people must start from the scratch and not from the top. We must start getting it right from the very small area to the whole of igboland. It is until everywhere in igboland come to a consensus that this is what we want that we can get to somewhere.

I can't believe that we are getting freaked out by the shallow promises they keep dishing into our plates. Promises that no one has ever kept since 1970 but we still choose to believe Nigeria will develop alaigbo.

I have always explained to you all very well on the best possible way to gain from this union. The federal government of Nigeria will never develop igboland even if all your ancestors are president. They cannot do what they are not taught to do. The best you can get from the centre is one or two projects that they will inflate to appease ndigbo.

Who will develop igboland? The answer is simple, you and I. If we keep waiting for these people who do not know a thing but to build roads whose active life is just 4-years. Then I think I should renounce my fatherland and look for how to join the people of Lesotho.

I have advised before, when the election time is getting nearer, you will start getting to know who will win and who will lose. If you have carefully checked and studied it, call upon the winning team and tell him what you want. Since the winning team isn't too sure of them winning, they will sign your demands. These demands shouldn't be about your brother being the senate President but projects that will ameliorate the current situation the east is currently suffering.

NB: Don't push too much because it might spoil the fun.

Now after your winning team has won, you start building your own political party. I assume APGA is the best bet. Try and make the locals have the party membership form so that you will be able to sack all the present heads with the help of your local players.

The next thing is plan for 2023. Do igbos want to be President 2023? Eeerm, we can choose to go not by weighing our options in the next couple of years. The truth is, we are pushing for a project based economic system that will turnaround the east. We will first infiltrate every nook and cranny of the east and make it solely one party where every political office holder will sign before being put out for election that this is what we want or else you will be impeached or recalled. This will go a long way in having a common economic and political interest.

If we are looking for Biafra or a better economic system in Nigeria, by this time, we would have had a standard system to push for anything because we have all the machinery in place to push for it. This political system will make it easy for economic integration between the different states of the east.

All these confusion about who to vote in 2019 should be studied carefully before it turns sour.

So why should the Yorubas be allowed to see Atiku as a unifier while they openly support and justify the bigotted administration of Buhari?

I know they have paid you to cause division. But know this that this small money they gave you will not pass 1month before you will finish it on beer.

I feel enraged at the attitude of these efulefus. A decision that has met the applause of every nook and cranny in the world. These southeast governors cum leaders came together to start the Igbo division story again.

Are these people really normal. Even if you want to air your grievance, why can't you do it in the secrecy of a telephone call. Why call a meeting and press to cover it? Look the dolts standing akimbo like camel that wants to drink water from a yellow stream. These men want to spoil the happiness every Nigerian have had in their hearts since yesterday. They want to just be spoilers. They are too shallow minded to know that these actions Have repercussions. I am really sad reading this news today.

One thing I know is that, they are all scared. Very scared that Peter Obi will become the strongest politician in southeast if he becomes the VP. So they are looking for a puppet. Someone without electoral value that they can control and climb behind to the top. This is just lame politics played by these people.

I have read the last five or six pages of this thread and it confirms my issues with the Igbos. Hatred.

Even if the PDP picked an Igbo for a vice-president, every other region will all afraid of you. Funnily enough when it comes to violence, the Northerners have prove to be more violent that you all. Una issue is your mouth and pride. Politics required foresight and the Igbos lack it.

Forget the Vice-president because your hatred spare headed by Kanu is still recent in the heart of other Nigerians. Focus on the next four years when both parties will present a southern candidates if the PDP loses. In the mean time, reduce your hatred.

Why am I doing all this? I have a friend who's father is Igbo and who's mother is Yoruba. He will be president in the next four years. But how can he be President when his kinsmen are playing kindergarten politics. Stop hating other tribes publicly. Stop poisoning your people with hatred.

Where did we preach hate? You should kindly spell it out.
