The Ekiti government described the explanation as an afterthought meant to mislead the public.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the state signed up for N14.4 billion and had received funds monthly in the last seven months from the ministry of finance.

“So when did they realise that Ekiti State did not meet the conditions? Mr. Olayinka asked. “Or did they send the allocations in the last seven months in error?”

He also argued that there was no warning letter or notification from the ministry of finance before the governor raised the alarm, else there would have been no need for the governor to write a letter to the ministry demanding explanations on the non-release of the funds.

“If they sent any letter, maybe they sent it today, because the governor was there yesterday and before then no one knew the reasons why the funds were not released,” Mr. Olayinka said.

“As I am talking to you, we have not received any letter from the ministry, if they sent any letter, maybe they sent it today. This explanation is an afterthought.”

Mr. Olayinka also said he was aware that the funds was earlier sent to the Central Bank of Nigeria along those of other states, but was later recalled and the name of Ekiti State removed from the list of 35 states.

Naira crashes to 516 as dollar scarcity widens

February 17, 2017

The naira appears to have entered a free fall mode with the local currency selling for 516 per United States dollar on the streets of Lagos on Thursday.

The naira plummeted at the parallel market from 510/dollar on Wednesday to 516/dollar on Thursday.

Currency dealers on the streets of Lagos Island sold the greenback at 516 and bought same for 513. In Egbeda, a major black market centre in Lagos, the naira was sold for 516 and bought at 510. At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the dollar was bought on the parallel market for 516 and sold at 513.

On Wednesday, the local currency had closed at 507 against the greenback as acute dollar shortage continued to weigh on the currency market.

The local currency traded at 507/dollar on Monday and Tuesday on the black market.

Experts are divided over the outlook for the naira this year. However, some analysts have predicted that the local currency will take further beating against the dollar this year.

The Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, said the local currency would hit 520/dollar this year on the parallel market and touch 350/dollar at the official market.

An economic expert, Mr. Henry Boyo, has predicted that the naira will hit 1000/dollar on the parallel market this year if the Central Bank of Nigeria fails to review its monetary policy framework.

According to him, the current monetary policy framework adopted by the CBN is skewed against the naira.

Other experts including the CEO of Afrinvest, a local research and investment advisory firm, Mr. Ike Chioke, says the naira will depreciate further against the dollar this year unless the CBN reforms the currency market.

Meanwhile, analysts have predicted that the naira will face fresh pressure on the parallel market next week with dollar supply falling short of demand by persons seeking currency to pay school fees abroad as the CBN continues to ration forex for businesses.

Demand for dollars has soared even though the external reserves have reached $29bn.

The naira continues to trade flat at the official interbank window at 305.5 to the dollar.

Traders said demand pressure was mounting on the black market but dollar supply had not significantly improved, suggesting further depreciation of the local currency might be coming, Reuters reported.

Buhari's health is not APC affairs alone, let Fayose, Wike visit him in London too - PDP youths tell Presidency

A youth group within the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, known as PDP Youth Frontier, PDPYF, has called on the presidency to facilitate a trip to London for governors Ayo Fayose and Nyesom Wike to visit President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group made this position known in a statement released through its Twitter handle @PDPNYF on Thursday following the visit of a delegation from the National Assembly led by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to Abuja House in London to see Buhari.

The statement endorsed by the group’s national coordinator, Austin Okai, said the President’s health is not the internal affairs of the APC alone.

It read in part: “Buhari’s health is not the APC internal affairs alone therefore, PDP youths recommend that Fayose and Wike should also visit him in London.”

It's highly time for Gov. Ayo Fayose and Gov. Wike To visit Mr President in London.
that is the only way Nigerians will know truth about PMB health .. Fayose cannot lie about that
It will be fantastic measure to Curtail the foundatioal Lies Of Apc
the national leader's moved to London without fayose and Wike are not complete
we will still be in darkness.

Yes... We trust them because they will give us unadulterated information.
And whatever they said we will believe it
PoliticsWazobiareporters Vindicated As AGF Queries CBN Gov For Selling dollar For As Low by Purplebirdrep(op): 9:30am On Feb 16, 2017
WazobiaReporters vindicated as AGF queries CBN Gov for selling dollar for as low as N3/ $1

Five days after WazobiaReporters exclusively reported that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was selling forex to some close allies of President Muhammadu Buhari for as low as N3 to $1 through what is called Bills of Collection, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), has queried the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, demanding “prompt response” to the allegations of corruption in the CBN's foreign exchange allocation and transactions.

Petition against the CBN indicated how some companies and individuals got foreign exchange in US dollars at the rates as low as low as N0.61 to $1 while others got it in rates that were as high as N470 to $1.

Malami, in the letter, dated February 6, 2017, and with reference number, HAGF/CBN/2017/VOL.1/1, asked Emefiele to respond to the allegations “to enable us to advise the Presidency and take appropriate measures.”

Titled ‘allegations of racketeering in the Central Bank of Nigeria; disparity in allocation of foreign exchange’, and addressed to Emefiele, the letter was delivered to the CBN governor’s office on Monday.

WazobiaReporters had reported on February 11, 2017 that the fraud was being perpetrated through a select few in CBN, with claim that Form M was filled and submitted like 35 years ago but forex was not released.

“You just need to claim that importation was done in say 1985 but forex was not released to you despite submitting duly completed Form M.

“With all documents perfected, the forex will then be released at the prevailing rate in 1985.

“Imagine someone getting $1 million at N5/ $1 and selling to end users at say N450/ $1. That is making N445 on $1 and just multiply N445 in one million places.

“That is the fraud going on in CBN now," source disclosed.

For instance, an individual got $4,327 at the rate of N23.34 to $1 through “credit card payment” for “invisible” purpose and under “invisible sector”.

A bank also got $3,589.11 at the rate of N3.19 to $1 also for “invisible” purposes and under “invisible” sector.

There was a transaction involving sale of $66.72 at the rate of N0.62 to $1.

There was also a sale of $5.56 to a company at the rate of N0.61 also for “invisible” purposes.

A particular transaction also involved the sale of $570.8 at the rate N3.17.

In contrast, there was a company, who purchased $1,462,480.83 at the rate of N425 to $1.

Politics2017 Budget Is The Biggest Fraud In Nigerian History. When Incompetence Is The Y by Purplebirdrep(op): 9:15am On Feb 15, 2017
2017 BUDGET IS THE BIGGEST FRAUD IN NIGERIAN HISTORY. WHEN INCOMPETENCE IS THE YOUNGER BROTHER TO CORRUPTION

CORRUPTION IS BACK!

By Dr. Aliyu U. Tilde

The biggest case of fraud today is not $2.1b, its $30b…

The $30 Federal budget as proposed is simply fraudulent, these is just no way else to put it.

I had written earlier about the absence of the Education budget on the website of the Budget Office, yes there is a link to the Education budget, but click on it, it takes you to the Defense Budget, so in effect the education is “missing”. Undeterred I looked at the Consolidated Budget to find the Education budget, I wish I did not.

This budget was termed and advertised as a “zero-based” budget, unfortunately, this budget is a fraud, anyone who approves or signs this budget is complicit.

Let me give you a few examples in this ‘missing” education budget, Federal Government College Garki has a cost N400,237 repeated 20 times…20 times! local transport, books, security, maintenance, etc etc etc, all the same cost for N400,237

Federal College Ijanike has N350,362 repeated 12 times, how can newspapers, cleaning, Legal, sporting etc etc etc all cost the same?

Federal College of Iket Nise as N1,278,682 repeated 8 times…. How? water, drugs, training…all cost exactly N1,278,682?

And it goes on and on and on……

Now before you assume it’s just restricted to the Ministry of Education, the ministry with the highest allocation the behemoth Ministry of Works, Housing and Power has a line items repeated 7 times i.e. “Generation of 700mw from Zungeru Hydropower project is duplicated 6 times!

These are just the duplication, what about the appropriateness of the expenses? The State House Hospital, just one hospital gets more allocation than all of Nigeria teaching hospitals combined….

Let me be very clear, the State House Medical Center get a proposed capital appropriation of N3.8b, the combined total of the capital vote for ALL teaching hospitals in Nigeria is about N3.0b….no wonder the capital vote is high this year….

Could the equipment being purchased for the State House Hospital not be installed in the National Hospital, so all Nigerian can use it?

I am just disgusted….

This has implications for all of us. You see in any budget, you list your revenues, then your expenses, the difference is either a deficit or a surplus….in Nigeria case it’s a deficit, a deficit of N2.2t….to fund this N2.2t, Nigeria will borrow $25m a day, yes Twenty-Five Million Dollars a day! you and I will pay for this borrowing, remember oil has crashed, that’s why you’re seeing “stamp duty taxes everywhere

The defense given is that we are borrowing to fund the capital vote, to build roads and rails, this is false. We are borrowing because the recurrent vote has been bloated with numerous repeated “N400,237” and “N1,278,682”. If the recurrent vote is properly audited and these duplication cleaned out, the difference between the revenues and expenditure will fall, and subsequently the borrowing will fall….

This budget is a fraud in intent and content, and truly I am ashamed this fraud has been presented and has been actually passed to second reading….so this will pass? We will actually spend more capital vote on one hospital than ALL teaching hospitals COMBINED?
PoliticsBuhari Media Center, abuja. Full Details Of What Goes On There. - Thewailersng By by Purplebirdrep(op): 9:00am On Feb 15, 2017
Buhari Media Center,Abuja. Full Details Of What Goes On There. - Thewailersng

The revelation of the Buhari's Propaganda mill predated the post of Mr Farooq who took to his Facebook page to give some tips about what goes on about the hatchet job as stated below.

"Buhari’s Government of No Substance and Propaganda. By Farooq. PhD
In trying to verify the accuracy of the odd appointment letter I posted here yesterday, I discovered that President Buhari actually has 9, not 6, media aides, all of whom also have a retinue of personal aides.

The presidential media aides are Femi Adesina (Special Adviser, Media & Publicity); Garba Shehu (Senior Special Assistant, Media & Publicity); Tolu Ogunlesi (Special Assistant, Digital & New Media); Lauretta Onochie (Personal Assistant, Social Media); Bashir Ahmad (Personal Assistant, New media); Sha’aban Sharada (Personal Assistant, Broadcast Media); Naziru Muhammed (Personal Assistant, TV Documentary); Sunday Aghaeze (Personal Assistant, Photography); and Bayo Omoboriowo (Personal Assistant/ President’s Photographer).

In addition, the president has about 40 paid journalists, bloggers, media analysts, commentators (whose names I have but will leave out for now), working under the Buhari Media Centre (BMC) in Utako, Abuja. The BMC is a well-furnished one-storey building with expansive premises. It has security guards, clerks, and cashiers. The team members are paid a monthly allowance of between N200,000 and N250,000.
They are mandated to react to all media contents critical of the president, write favorable news items for the president, and attack/demonize/smear people critical of the president. They also work with government agencies such as the EFCC to push narratives to deflect attention from the ineptitude of the government.

They work behind the scenes and use pen names in extended articles, and pseudonyms on social media. Almost all the members of the APC Presidential Campaign Media Directorate operate from the BMC, with the exception of those with appointments. And this excludes Lai Mohammad’s well-oiled lie squad.

When a government takes propaganda and mind-management this seriously, you know it’s not ready to change. Good deeds are their own PR. It is when people determine that they don’t want to do good deeds that they resort to mindless propaganda. If only they invested and expended as much energy in managing the economy as they do in propaganda, we won’t be where we are. I have more, but I will stop here for now. By the way, that appointment letter is authentic".

Based on the post above, as stated by Mr Farooq, one will wonder if Buhari's government can ever make any headway because he dwell and invest more in the business of Propaganda rather than business of governance, the Media Propaganda Center hosts young people who are supposed to be useful serving their father's land in various capacity other than doing dirty political Propaganda jobs.

According to the information available to the WAILERSNG, the Buhari's cretins works in a well coordinated manner with some selected media houses anytime they want to dish out falsehood. For instance, many of them are handlers of Social Media accounts of government agencies.
Anytime they need to push out their propaganda, the information is first shared via the official handle of government agency, the selected media, both online and traditional quickly pick the story for publication, then the hustler boys and girls takes to social media to amplify such propaganda.

The new revelation has angered ordinary Nigerians who have now took it upon themselves to dig deeper to investigate the Buhari's Propaganda Mill, its location and the list of those involved. It won't take much time before every details of the BMC is further exposed to all Nigerians.

Ekiti PDP Crisis: Anti-Fayose's factional leader to explain his allegations against judges or face arrest

The Appeal Court sitting in Ado Ekiti yesterday threatened members of
the Williams Ajayi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)
with warrant of arrest over a letter allegedly written against
members of the 3-member appeal panel , accusing them of corruption and bias.

The justices were:  Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, Fatima Omoro Akinbami and Ayobode Olujimi Loluko-Sodipe.

Ajayi’s faction,  had in a letter dated  19th January , 2017 and
signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Dayo Owolabi, accused
the justices of the appeal court of being  conscripted into  alleged
conspiracy by Gboyega Oguntuase’s group to arrest the January 24
judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti.

The Federal High court , had earlier slated the judgment on who was
the authentic chairman of the party between Oguntuse(respondent), an
ally of Governor Ayodele Fayose and Ajayi(applicant), Senator Buruji
Kashamu’s protégé for that date, but counsel to Oguntuase's faction, Bimpe Olatemiju notified the court about a motion on notice which asked for a stale of proceeding by the lower court pending the determination of the case at the Appeal court on February 1.

He predicated  his action on a motion on notice pending before the
appeal court, praying  for the expunction of the December 13, 2016 proceeding  of the court.

However, Justice Taiwo Taiwo went ahead to deliver the judgment in favour of the applicant based on the argument canvassed by lawyer to Ajayi’s faction, Mr Niran Owoseeni.
The judge also alleged that Olatemiju's notice on the motion on notice amounts to attempt to arrest his judgment.
At yesterday’s proceeding, which was centred on the hearing on the
stay of execution of the judgment of the Federal High Court filed by
the counsel to the
appellant (Oguntuase), Chief Mike Ozekhome(SAN), the justices
confronted Owoseeni with a copy of the letter allegedly written by
his client and submitted to the Registrar of the Appeal Court and another publication on a national daily made prior to the ruling by Justice Taiwo which had also accused the appellant and the Appeal Court justices of attempt to arrest Justice Taiwo's judgment .

The justices also instructed Owoseeni to read to the audience .

The Justices said: “Are you saying you were not aware of the contents
of this letter? We have our own names to protect. We could not have
been party to any attempt to arrest the judgment of the High court.

“We didn’t sit on the 19th of January because one of us was indisposed
and we didn’t form quorum to sit. Judiciary must not be destroyed ,
because if such happens the next stage is anarchy”.

Based  on the information from Owoseeni that the author of the letter has traveled to Abuja , the appeal court justices adjourned the case to February 8, and instructed that the writer of the letter report on the adjourned date or face arrest warrant : “Ask him to come back or else, he will be arrested. We will issue bench warrant against him”, they said.

Owoseni refuted allegation from lawyers to the appellant that he had a pre-knowledge of the contents of the letter , saying : “I can’t be
part of any conspiracy or connivance to destroy the judiciary. I am a
lawyer,  I don’t know how politicians operate. If they had told me, I
would have advised against it.

“I am only seeing the letter for the first time. What I prepared for
today is my notice of preliminary objection against the appeal”, he
said.

Reacting to the development, lead counsel to the appellant, Ozekhome warned against the subjugation of the judiciary   in the
country, saying such could only brew anarchy and return the country to
a pariah state.

“This is what politicians do when they see that a matter is not going
their own way. What they do is to accuse the judges or justices of
bias and corruption, so that they can hands off. It happened to appeal
court justices in Abuja, where they stupidly, idiotically accused them
of corruption.

“Nigeria is operating a constitutional democracy, where matters are
subjected to  adjudication. I didn’t know how a stay of proceeding
filed at the appeal would amount to  arrest of judgement.

“Even in spite of that, the federal High Court still delivered the judgement without respect for court’s hierarchical order, this is condemnable”, he stated.

The Justices adjourned the matter to February 8 for the author(s) to appear in court.

Saraki - I Didn't Ask State Governors to Remove Osinbajo From Office

Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki has denied contracting some State Governors to pressure acting President Yemi Osinbajo to resign.

Saraki's denial was contained in a statement issued late Wednesday night. The statement reads, “My attention has been drawn to a speculation on some online media about supposed meeting of some Governors who held Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to ransom and sought for Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki to take over the Presidency.

“My first initial reaction was to ignore this empty rumour but after being inundated with calls from across the country and abroad, it became necessary for me to make clarifications from our own end.

“It is a good thing that the Presidency had dismissed the speculation and showed that there is no substance to it.

“However, i feel it should be known that those behind this baseless, empty and unintelligent mischief are those who do not love this country.

“Such suggestions as contained in the speculation can only bring ill-will, disunity and crisis to the country and i therefore advise the sponsors to desist immediately. More importantly, these trouble makers should refrain from linking Senator Saraki’s name to their evil plot.”

Fayose foils DSS plan to arrest Pastor in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’s Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose, in the early morning on Wednesday foiled an attempt by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) from arresting Apostle Johnson Suleiman of The Omega Fire Ministries World wide in Ado Ekiti.

The firebrand Pastor was alleged to have been preaching against Islamizing  Nigeria and asked members of his church in Auchi, Edo State to resist the killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who he alleged of targeting Christians for decimation.

The Pastor who was in Ado Ekiti for a two-day crusade that was also attended by Fayose  was trailed after paying a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House to his hotel room by the operatives of the DSS in Adebayo area of the State capital who almost forced their way to his  room  but were resisted by security men of the hotel that insisted to know their mission.

Sensing the danger, the Pastor was alerted and he  called Governor Fayose who personally led a rescue mission to prevent the abduction of the Pastor and took him to safety.

The Pastor who narrated his ordeal around 2am said, “I came to Ado Ekiti for a crusade. But I had a premonition that I was being trailed after I  preached that Christians should retaliate any attack or killings by the Fulani herdsmen. These Fulani headmen had turned many Christians to orphans and widowers but the time has come to protect ourselves.

“I received several calls from hidden numbers trying to locate where I am and I had warned my security not to allow any Fulani man to come nearer me. So when the men of DSS came in the middle of the night I knew their mission and I had to call the Governor because if they arrest me, they will put this country in fire”.

Governor Fayose, who expressed surprise that a man of God was been trailed to be arrested by the men of DSS said, he expected the security operatives  to invite him “ if they have any issue with him instead of  arresting him in the dead of the night after a powerful and spirit-filled crusade in my State.

The Governor said, “I personally attended his crusade and I think it is wrong for a man of God who is armless that could be invited if they have any issue against him. Are Christians and Moslems under different dispensation of the rule of law? . That’s why I went there to rescue him. Let them kill two of us together. But when they saw my vehicles and the crowd, they fled.
.

“But we have information that instructions came from DSS in Abuja that the Pastor should be arrested. We are not in a fascist state, Federal Government must learn to respect the rights of Nigerians and freedom of expression”.

Governor Fayose noted that it was unbecoming of the Federal Government to be harassing the clergymen in the country noting that the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye was harassed and forced to resign shortly after he visited him in Ado Ekiti.

He said, “This is unacceptable, We are in a democracy and Nigerians should warn the Presidency against putting this country on fire because religion is an emotional thing”.

The governor also warned security operatives against intimidation and arrest of men of God in the interest of peace and religious harmony in the country. The constitution guarantees freedom of worship”.

I Would Have Performed Better Than Buhari – Remi Sonaiya, KOWA Presidential Candidate

The presidential candidate on the platform of KOWA in the 2015 presidential election, Remi Sonaiya has stated that she would have performed better if given the opportunity to lead the nation. Speaking with Premium Times, the outspoken woman said she was ever ready to lead Nigeria anytime she was called upon.

Asked if she would have done anything better than the current government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, Sonaiya said, “Of course, I would have done better by God’s help. For example, I would have consulted widely in selecting members of my cabinet, so that we would get the best people to manage our affairs in different sectors. Party considerations would not have been primary; the interest of the country would have been.

“And I would have gotten the cabinet in place before my inauguration, so that we would really hit the ground running. It’s strange to nominate people for ministerial positions and not have them assessed by the Senate on their competence in specific areas.”

Many people have been feared dead after a twin bomb explosion rocked the University of Maiduguri, Borno in the early hours of Monday.

Victor Isuku, the university’s spokesperson, confirmed the explosions.

According to Premium Times, a source within the university said the first blast occurred at a mosque within the staff quarters at the time Muslim worshippers were busy concluding the early morning prayer.

The second attack was said to have happened near the university’s 5th gate usually used by pedestrians.

The newspaper quoted a female student say her father was lucky to have escape the blast after leaving the mosque early.
PoliticsTinubu & Allies Walk Out Angrily As APC South-West Leaders Meet - Vanguard by Purplebirdrep(op): 11:03am On Jan 13, 2017
Ibadan — A meeting called to forge unity among prominent Southwest chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ended on an icy note yesterday after former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and some close allies walked out after the first round of a two-stage meeting.

APC Political leaders’ meeting: From left; Chief Pius Akinyelure; Aremo Olusegun Osoba; Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC National Leader and Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Ekiti State gov, during the meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC political leaders of the South West in Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday.

The meeting involving all governors and ministers from the region was, nevertheless, declared a success by party leader and two-time governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba. Roll call The meeting, which was reportedly brokered by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State had in attendance the former National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, Tinubu, Osoba, APC Deputy National Chairman, Engr Segun Oni, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Olusola Adeyeye, Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Femi Gbagabiamila, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

Others included Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun State, Niyi Adebayo, former governor of Ekiti State, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Professor Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health.

The only high profile office holder absent was the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf who reportedly was out of the country. The first round of the meeting in the Executive Chamber of the Oyo State Governor’s Office lasted about four hours with all invitees in attendance. The meeting, which was held behind closed-doors, according to Vanguard sources saw party chieftains confronting one another over alleged acts of betrayal.

When the meeting ended at about 5:05 pm, Tinubu wore a hard countenance likened to a lion fresh from a battle. Fayemi, a political disciple of Tinubu was, on the other hand, smiling all through. When Tinubu posed with others for a photograph, he had to be persuaded to soften his mien for the photographs. He then feigned a dry smile and immediately after, he again assumed a tough mien as he strode towards his waiting vehicle. Meanwhile, Fayemi was holding Amosun’s hand while Fashola stood apart, smiling occasionally. The cat was, however, let out of the bag when Fayemi burst into a song, still holding the hand of Amosun. He sang one of King Sunny Ade’s tunes…Ko le se kija ma wa o, bi ija ba de o, se lo ye ka pari e, ko le se ki ija ma wa o..meaning misunderstanding is unavoidable, when it occurs, we ought to settle it.

Amosun, however, cautioned Fayemi to stop the song. Speaking on the outcome of the first round of the meeting, Osoba said: “All the members that we invited are here except the Deputy Speaker, who is presently out of the country. We met principally to discuss all the things that may be affecting South-west, and we have come out with a resolution to show that in the APC South-West of APC, there is unity of purpose, the leadership is one, and we have resolved all the issues that may be affecting the governance of this country and what should be the role and the influence that we should exercise as a group in the interest of this country and for the progress of this country.

“We have examined what the government that we are all involved in is bringing, and we have resolved all the issues, and all those that will be taken to Abuja will be taken to Abuja by those concerned. We have related with our legislative members, leaders at the party level and we have related with all our governors, and I can assure you from now onward, there will be total harmony and consultation among our governors for the progress of South West Nigeria.

“Southwest is the leader of the progressives in this country, and we are determined to reassert our influence in the progressive politics of this country for the betterment of Nigeria,” he said. All the persuasive moves by Ajimobi for Tinubu to tarry a little for the second meeting were rejected as he immediately drove away in a Range Rover Sports Utility Van. In fact, some of his aides were still looking for him not knowing he had left. While Tinubu, Ambode, Aregbesola and Amosun left after the first meeting, Akande held the second round of meeting with the ministers. The second meeting involved all the ministers, including Fayemi, Shittu, Adeosun, Ajimobi and Isaac Adewole.

It was chaired by Chief Akande and ended at about 5:30 pm. Though details were sketchy, it was gathered that it was a channel through which the mind of the caucus would be passed to the president. Vanguard gathered that party chieftains felt that the South West may have been betrayed despite the tremendous support given to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rivers Re-Run Elections: APC Declaration Of War On Rivers People

It was another sad day in Nigeria as top echelon of the ruling Party in the Country, the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State took turns like garrison commanders, ordering their supporters to shoot and kill any member or supporter of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The APC did not also spare other voters in the state as they ordered their armies to attack them during the Saturday, December 10, 2016 Re-Run Elections.

2.This open declaration of war on the people of Rivers State is only reaffirming our earlier position and fear that all the actions and ‘body language’ of the All Progressive Congress (APC) since it took over power in May, 2015 is gearing towards erasing democracy and installing full blown dictatorship in Nigeria.

3.The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun addressing a very scanty crowd at the so called ‘Mega Rally’ in Port Harcourt, Rivers State yesterday openly incited the members and supporters of his party saying "If they push you, push them back. If they slap you, slap them back. As you can see, we came in full force, the whole federal might is here".

As if that was not enough, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Umar Ganduje who is also the Chairman of the APC, Rivers state Re-Run Campaign Committee said,  “If they shoot at you, take cover and shoot them back.".

4.This is very sad and a complete reversal of all the democratic experience we have built and nurtured in Nigeria in the last 16 years. A political rally which normally should have been an opportunity to sell its Programme and manifesto was instead turned into a call for war and violence by the APC leaders.

5.We will not fold our arms and allow the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its supporters destroy our hard earned democracy. We will not stop but continue to alert Nigerians and the international community to the danger the ruling Party is posing to our democracy.

6.We therefore call on the  Nigerian Police and other relevant security agencies to be alert to their responsibilities and ensure that the Elections on Saturday in Rivers State are not only free and fair but also very peaceful, orderly and without any  violence.

7.We again call on our members, teeming supporters and the electorate in Rivers state to remain calm in the face of these daring provocations. Dictatorship, avarice and anarchy that has characterized this APC led government since inception may last for a season but freedom and liberty will last for eternity. The APC has nothing more to offer Nigerians, hence the resort to war and attacks on the people..

8.Finally, we urge the people of Rivers state to come out enmass on Saturday, December 10, 2016  and vote for all the Candidates of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)  in the Re-Run Elections. Rivers State is the home of the PDP and we are sure of victory in all the Elections.

9.God bless Rivers State! God bless Nigeria!!

PoliticsPRESS STATEMENT. November 29, 2016 by Purplebirdrep(op): 2:41pm On Nov 29, 2016
PRESS STATEMENT.

November 29, 2016

You are not the National Chairman of our Party, PDP Tells Senator Ali Modu Sheriff...You Risk Jail Parading Yourself as Such.

Our attention has been drawn to another set of garbage and tissues of lies put together by the discredited loyalists of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff in the name of a press statement on Monday, November 28, 2016, wherein, the group tried to sustain it's illegal claim to the leadership of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

2. The National Caretaker Committee which has been confirmed severally by the Court as the authentic body saddled with the task of providing leadership for the Party pending the hosting of an elective National Convention, would have ignored the ranting of these men of dishonour but leaving them to continue deceiving Nigerians at this time would not be in the interest of democracy.

3. First and foremost, we wish to state categorically that in consonance with Judgment of various Courts, which Ali Modu-Sheriff and his team of confused travelers have not bothered to appeal, the former Borno State Governor is not the Chairman of our Party, the PDP.

4. His consistent claim to the Office is a continuation of their plans to sustain mayhem in our Party, but nature and fair justice have taken care of his desperation.

5. We wish to draw the attention of all Nigerians to the Judgment delivered by Justice Valentine Ashi of FCT High Court in Apo, Abuja on June 29, 2016, which states clearly that Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff was never and is not the PDP National Chairman; and equally, this Judgment was upheld by the Ruling of Justice Nwamaka Ogbonnaya also of the FCT High Court in Kubwa, Abuja on August 17, 2016.

6. It is instructive to note that Senator Modu-Sheriff and his team of circus performers have not deemed it fit to appeal the Court Judgments. It is tripartite in law that a Judgment not appeal is binding on the defendant.

7. The Courts have spoken, and their pronouncements are binding. However, those who wish to spend the rest of their lives behind prison bars may continue to utter heresy against the Court. We hope their children would be proud to bear the family names of convicts.

8. It is also morally wrong to accuse the National Caretaker Committee of being the reason why the Party is facing challenges in terms of unfavourable election results especially in Edo and Ondo States. Everyone knows the real enemies of the PDP.

9. We won't also forget in a hurry the ignoble role Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim played in scuttling our campaign for the Ondo Election. We also know those who pushed him forward for the hatchet job.

10. We are amused that the agents of darkness used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause confusion and frustrate our campaign for the Ondo Election, can accuse the National Caretaker Committee of impunity.

11. However, we simply want them to define what impunity is, using their acts of betrayal as a case study. What they are doing is the worst form of impunity, lawlessness, greed and avarice.

12. Their call on the National Caretaker Committee to self disband is uncharitable and unconstitutional. If they have any shame, they are the ones that should quietly disband. But honours can't be expected from impostors.

13. No matter what they say, we are determined as a political Party to forge ahead and put our house in order even without their inputs.

14. The National Caretaker Committee has not called for their expulsion against the claims they are making, the time for that has not come. But the rain of vengeance will not hang forever in the clouds.

15. The National Caretaker Committee wish to appreciate all loyal Party members, urging them to keep the faith as the Appellate Courts will do justice to the various appeals pending before it at the appropriate time; to put an end to the antics of these enemies of progress masquerading as members of our Party.

PoliticsBREAKING News: PDP Rejects Outcome Of Ondo Guber Election.. by Purplebirdrep(op): 1:42pm On Nov 28, 2016
In an official statement released by the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dayo Adeyeye, on Monday, the party said that it has rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, and described the outcome of the election as a “charade and not the true reflection of the will of the people of Ondo State”.

The Chief Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali, had on Sunday, declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, winner of the election.

Akeredolu polled 244, 842, to defeat the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, who rallied 150, 380 votes to place second in the race.

According to Premium Times, Adeyeye in the statement, said the electoral umpire, INEC, aided the APC to rig the election, adding that INEC has now “graduated from inconclusive Elections as seen in Kogi, Bayelsa, Osun, FCT, Imo, Nassarawa and some other previous By-Elections in the Country to ‘Advanced Election Rigging’, as in the case of Edo and Ondo States Gubernatorial Elections”.

“It is common knowledge that the APC Agents openly bought votes of the electorates in the full glare of security operatives who did nothing to prevent such dastardly violation of the Electoral Law.

“It is not surprising that the electorates in Ondo state became so vulnerable to the corruptive influence of the APC because of the hash economic situation in the Country inflicted on Nigerians by the APC Administration which have indeed made all Nigerians virtually beggars in their own Country.”

Adeyeye said PDP had persistently called for the postponement of the Election before Saturday, for at least two weeks to enable the Party Campaign and prepare properly for the Election.

He said the party’s request followed the setback orchestrated by “Justice Okon Abang and the charlatans in PDP who allowed themselves to be used by the APC to destroy our chances in the Ondo State Election.

“The actions of INEC in collaboration with the APC led Administration left us no time to campaign and sell our Candidate and Party Manifesto to the electorates in Ondo State.

“Our persistent call for the postponement of the Election which was backed and supported by more than 20 other political parties were all rejected by INEC which were acting the script of the APC.

“It was a carefully planned and well-orchestrated strategy to rig the Election well in advance by preventing the PDP from planning and campaigning for the Election. The APC has hereby introduced a new formula of rigging Election in Nigeria.

“In view of the fact that the Election was blatantly manipulated from the beginning to the end to favour the APC, we vehemently reject the results of the November 26, 2016 Gubernatorial Election in Ondo State,” he said.

He also said Saturday’s election and all actions leading to it fell short of laid down principles guiding conduct of elections in Nigeria.

“We have instructed our Candidate and the Ondo State Chapter of our Party to proceed to the Tribunal to challenge the Outcome of the Election. We call on the Judiciary to redeem Nigeria’s image on this matter as we request for the total Cancellation of the Election in Ondo State,” the party said.

WHY EYITAYO JEGEDE IS THE ANSWER

By Femi Salako
Triangle News Magazine

Eyitayo is a man of impeccable integrity, an attribute that is fast becoming a scarce commodity amongst holders of public offices. It is an indisputable fact that Mr Jegede is a super brilliant and highly experienced technocrat cum politician with topnotch skills of governance who has brought dynamic professionalism to his job while in office as Commissioner Justice. We are all witnesses to his achievements that has placed him in an unmatched pedestal for the Ondo governorship contest. Available records of unprecedented achievements garnered by Jegede in public office has been most inspiring and the need to rehash same in this piece has become quite compelling. It is to the credit of Eyitayo that he was the Chairman, Body of Attorneys General of the 36 states of federation; a position that saddled him with the responsibility of coordinating activities of his colleagues in the country. It is also on record that the Akure born Senior Advocate of Nigeria is an illustrious member of the Council of Legal Education in Nigeria, the body responsible for setting standards for legal education in Nigeria. He is equally a long standing member of Body of Benchers, the body responsible for the Call to Bar of successful law students in Nigeria. This symbol of humility and competence was two times the Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Yola, Adamawa State branch. A major achievement of Eyitayo Jegede as Attorney General was the monumental improvements in the administration of Criminal justice system in Ondo State. Also, in collaboration with the office of the Chief Judge of the state, Eyitayo established the first High Court within the precincts of the prison to fast track the prosecution of criminal cases that have to do with capital offences in the state. This initiative was quite novel and noble; being the very first of its kind in the country. The enactment and signing into law of new Criminal Justice Administration in Ondo state was to the credit of Eyitayo Jegede.

Midwifing the review of the Laws of Ondo State for the very first time since the creation of the State in 1976 was another major achievement of Jegede while in office as Attorney General.
To the credit of Eyitayo was the establishment of the Court of Appeal in Ondo State. He also facilitated and handled the establishment of the National Industrial Courts in Ondo state in his capacity as the Attorney General. Establishment of zonal offices of the Federal Ministry of Justice in Ondo State was another effort of Eyitayo Jegede where he deserves accolades and commendations. Another area of high scores for Jegede was his skillful and dutiful handling of government interests in the courts of law and his supervision of critical governments businesses as delegated to him by the governor.

Beyond the numerous achievements of Jegede and his indispensable requisite experience in governance is what this pride of Akure kingdom has to offer the state. I can conveniently assert that Eyitayo Jegede is best positioned aspirant to hit the ground running after Dr Mimiko and ensure a seamless continuity of existing beneficial legacies. This assertion is not far fetched from the fact that Jegede had played critical roles in policy formulations of the outgoing government and starting from where the job would be stopped can never pose any hassle for the PDP hopeful candidate. The incontrovertible fact that Eyitayo is a technocrat who is very much aware of the compelling need to take full advantage of natural resources and human capital of the state to birth a new transformed Ondo state will be another advantage of his aspiration. The man has said on several fora that his three major plans for the state will firstly be the economy, secondly the economy and thirdly the economy. This is undoubtedly a foretaste of the preparedness of Eyitayo Jegede to give the Sunshine state the long awaited weaning of the state from the financial feeding bottle of Abuja through the monthly handouts. It is doubtful if there is any of the gladiators for the Alagbaka office whose global connection and national exposure to industrialize Ondo state can match that of Eyitayo. Governance at this critical period of national economic crunches should not in any way be the business of charlatans; but for a mind like that of Jegede who is highly prepared and armed with intellectual solutions to challenges ahead.

What should be of paramount interest to Ondo electorates as regards the November gubernatorial election is a process that will churn out of merit rather then the pedestrian clamour for senatorial locations. Good leadership transcends locations, religious sentiments and gender. Concerns of the good people of the Sunshine state should be and must at this point be who can give the workers, traders, students, artisans and the elderly better and sustainable welfare packages. A serious disservice will only be meted to the people if preposterous sentiments is allowed to take preference over merit, experience and eminent qualifications. Dwelling on the zone that is to produce the next governor is needless because the three senatorial districts had already produced governors after all. Since the unwritten rotational agreement will be starting all over again; it can then simply take off from any of the three senatorial districts of the state.

Description of good leadership will be incomplete without ample demonstration of love, care and empathy. This is an area where Eyitayo Jegede has contributed a great deal to the cause of humanity. Testimonies of his benevolence acts in the last seven years abound; albeit his magnanimity has been done quietly and without fanfare. Eyitayo has assisted hundreds of widows and other financially vulnerable women in the state. According to Mrs Ajoke Fisayo who is one of the many beneficiaries of his largeheartedness,"we love him a lot, he is very generous but not lousy". In the words of Mrs Adenike Ogunlade amidst tears of joy" I heard oga Eyitayo Jegede is contesting, may God hear his supplications and grant him his desire to govern our state. He is such a humble and very kind man".
Other heart warming testimonies of the helping hand and caring heart of Eyitayo Jegede for the downtrodden in the state is public knowledge across the length and breath of the Sunshine state.

The spiritual significance of name in the African society can just not be wished away. The name Eyitayo literarily translates to this is worthy of joy. The attendant effects of the aspiration of Eyitayo Jegede will at the end turn out to be worthy of bundle of joy and blessings for the good people of Ondo state.

INEC SHOULD REPLACE PROF.KAYODE SOREMEKUN AS STATE RETURNING OFFICER.

The much publicised Ondo State Gubernatorial Election will hold tomorrow on 26th November,2016.The imbroglio surrounding candidatures of political parties have been resolved either internally or through judicial interventions. The good people of Ondo State will surely cast their votes for whoever they loved to steer the ships of our sunshine state among the contestants cleared by INEC.
Significantly,INEC State Returning Officer has vital role to play in order to ensure smooth success of the Election. The political parties in Ondo State presently are resisting the appointment of Prof.Kayode Soremekun V.C.Federal University,Oye Ekiti as State Returning Officer. The facts remained that he was alleged to have masterminded rigging in favour of ruling party in Edo State.Edo people protested heavily and they are currently locking horns at Election Petition Tribunal.Ordinarily,The Prof.who is a school administrator should decline the offer in order to save his reputation and integrity. The entire populace of Ondo people can never entrust their destiny and progress into the hands of a man with questionable character and doubting sincerity.
INEC as an independent organization saddled with the sole aim of conducting fair, reliable and credible elections in a country must be transparent in all their dealings. They must not collude with any political party (ies) to compromise and attempted to thwart efforts of the nation's founding fathers which hinges on just and egalitarian society.
INEC National Chairman Prof.Mahmud should please use his good office and appoint another University Don who possessed clean and untampered records as State Returning Officer.Prof.Kayode Soremekun was alleged to have been briefed to repeat Edo state saga in Ondo State. Therefore, his purported appointment amounted to ultra vire, null and void and totally unacceptable to our Sunshine State.INEC Chairman should please ensure that the sanctity of his respected office is protected. The whole World are interested in this Gubernatorial Election therefore we must adhere strictly to the Nation's Electoral Act and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria where INEC derives it's principle, independence, supremacy and authority.

I Now Realize Buhari Is Worse Than Jonathan – Falana Cries Out

Renowned Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, might have now realized that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is worse than that of Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, having confessed that there is inherent evil in the proposed $29.9 billion loan, the president seeks to borrow.

According to him, at the end of the day, only 50 percent of the amount will arrive Nigeria with generations suffering to repay it.

Vehemently opposing the move to obtain the loan, Falana during the weekend, counseled the President to channel recovered loots towards addressing the growing economic hardship in the country.

Falana stated this while speaking at the 4th Convocation Lecture of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ile Ife, adding that he had written the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to that effect.

Continuing, Falana called on the government to recover the looted wealth of the nation and prosecute the culprits, without considering their party affiliation.

He further called for the investigation of payment and servicing of debts, insisting that most of the loans that gave rise to them were diverted by public officers.

Falana said: “Curiously, the Buhari administration has failed to address capital flight and round tripping by financial institutions, otherwise why has the government been reluctant to ask EFCC to recover and sanction the oil and shipping companies which under declared the crude oil worth billions of dollars shipped from Nigeria, under the Jonathan administration?

“Why has the Federal Government failed to recover the $20.2 billion withheld from the Federation Account by the NNPC and some oil companies from 1999-2012?

“Why has the Federal Government not inquired into the allegation that the sum of $25.4 billion was laundered and illegally taken out of Nigeria by a telecommunication company?

“Why has the government failed to recover the looted wealth of the nation which has been traced to financial institutions in the west and the United Arab Emirates?”

“Why has the CBN failed to recover the $7 billion deposit and N600 billion bailout given to the commercial banks in 2006 and 2008 respectively? Instead of intensifying efforts to recover such huge funds among several others, the government is determined to take a loan of $29.6billion”.
