Politics / Tinubu & Allies Walk Out Angrily As APC South-West Leaders Meet - Vanguard by Purplebirdrep: 11:03am On Jan 13, 2017
Ibadan — A meeting called to forge unity among prominent Southwest chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ended on an icy note yesterday after former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and some close allies walked out after the first round of a two-stage meeting.

APC Political leaders’ meeting: From left; Chief Pius Akinyelure; Aremo Olusegun Osoba; Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC National Leader and Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Ekiti State gov, during the meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC political leaders of the South West in Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday.

The meeting involving all governors and ministers from the region was, nevertheless, declared a success by party leader and two-time governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba. Roll call The meeting, which was reportedly brokered by Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State had in attendance the former National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, Tinubu, Osoba, APC Deputy National Chairman, Engr Segun Oni, Senate Chief Whip, Senator Olusola Adeyeye, Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Femi Gbagabiamila, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.

Others included Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun State, Niyi Adebayo, former governor of Ekiti State, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Professor Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health.

The only high profile office holder absent was the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lasun Yusuf who reportedly was out of the country. The first round of the meeting in the Executive Chamber of the Oyo State Governor’s Office lasted about four hours with all invitees in attendance. The meeting, which was held behind closed-doors, according to Vanguard sources saw party chieftains confronting one another over alleged acts of betrayal.

When the meeting ended at about 5:05 pm, Tinubu wore a hard countenance likened to a lion fresh from a battle. Fayemi, a political disciple of Tinubu was, on the other hand, smiling all through. When Tinubu posed with others for a photograph, he had to be persuaded to soften his mien for the photographs. He then feigned a dry smile and immediately after, he again assumed a tough mien as he strode towards his waiting vehicle. Meanwhile, Fayemi was holding Amosun’s hand while Fashola stood apart, smiling occasionally. The cat was, however, let out of the bag when Fayemi burst into a song, still holding the hand of Amosun. He sang one of King Sunny Ade’s tunes…Ko le se kija ma wa o, bi ija ba de o, se lo ye ka pari e, ko le se ki ija ma wa o..meaning misunderstanding is unavoidable, when it occurs, we ought to settle it.

Amosun, however, cautioned Fayemi to stop the song. Speaking on the outcome of the first round of the meeting, Osoba said: “All the members that we invited are here except the Deputy Speaker, who is presently out of the country. We met principally to discuss all the things that may be affecting South-west, and we have come out with a resolution to show that in the APC South-West of APC, there is unity of purpose, the leadership is one, and we have resolved all the issues that may be affecting the governance of this country and what should be the role and the influence that we should exercise as a group in the interest of this country and for the progress of this country.

“We have examined what the government that we are all involved in is bringing, and we have resolved all the issues, and all those that will be taken to Abuja will be taken to Abuja by those concerned. We have related with our legislative members, leaders at the party level and we have related with all our governors, and I can assure you from now onward, there will be total harmony and consultation among our governors for the progress of South West Nigeria.

“Southwest is the leader of the progressives in this country, and we are determined to reassert our influence in the progressive politics of this country for the betterment of Nigeria,” he said. All the persuasive moves by Ajimobi for Tinubu to tarry a little for the second meeting were rejected as he immediately drove away in a Range Rover Sports Utility Van. In fact, some of his aides were still looking for him not knowing he had left. While Tinubu, Ambode, Aregbesola and Amosun left after the first meeting, Akande held the second round of meeting with the ministers. The second meeting involved all the ministers, including Fayemi, Shittu, Adeosun, Ajimobi and Isaac Adewole.

It was chaired by Chief Akande and ended at about 5:30 pm. Though details were sketchy, it was gathered that it was a channel through which the mind of the caucus would be passed to the president. Vanguard gathered that party chieftains felt that the South West may have been betrayed despite the tremendous support given to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Rivers Re-Run Elections: APC Declaration Of War On Rivers People

It was another sad day in Nigeria as top echelon of the ruling Party in the Country, the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State took turns like garrison commanders, ordering their supporters to shoot and kill any member or supporter of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The APC did not also spare other voters in the state as they ordered their armies to attack them during the Saturday, December 10, 2016 Re-Run Elections.

2.This open declaration of war on the people of Rivers State is only reaffirming our earlier position and fear that all the actions and ‘body language’ of the All Progressive Congress (APC) since it took over power in May, 2015 is gearing towards erasing democracy and installing full blown dictatorship in Nigeria.

3.The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun addressing a very scanty crowd at the so called ‘Mega Rally’ in Port Harcourt, Rivers State yesterday openly incited the members and supporters of his party saying "If they push you, push them back. If they slap you, slap them back. As you can see, we came in full force, the whole federal might is here".

As if that was not enough, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Umar Ganduje who is also the Chairman of the APC, Rivers state Re-Run Campaign Committee said,  “If they shoot at you, take cover and shoot them back.".

4.This is very sad and a complete reversal of all the democratic experience we have built and nurtured in Nigeria in the last 16 years. A political rally which normally should have been an opportunity to sell its Programme and manifesto was instead turned into a call for war and violence by the APC leaders.

5.We will not fold our arms and allow the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its supporters destroy our hard earned democracy. We will not stop but continue to alert Nigerians and the international community to the danger the ruling Party is posing to our democracy.

6.We therefore call on the  Nigerian Police and other relevant security agencies to be alert to their responsibilities and ensure that the Elections on Saturday in Rivers State are not only free and fair but also very peaceful, orderly and without any  violence.

7.We again call on our members, teeming supporters and the electorate in Rivers state to remain calm in the face of these daring provocations. Dictatorship, avarice and anarchy that has characterized this APC led government since inception may last for a season but freedom and liberty will last for eternity. The APC has nothing more to offer Nigerians, hence the resort to war and attacks on the people..

8.Finally, we urge the people of Rivers state to come out enmass on Saturday, December 10, 2016  and vote for all the Candidates of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)  in the Re-Run Elections. Rivers State is the home of the PDP and we are sure of victory in all the Elections.

9.God bless Rivers State! God bless Nigeria!!

Politics / PRESS STATEMENT. November 29, 2016 by Purplebirdrep: 2:41pm On Nov 29, 2016
PRESS STATEMENT.

November 29, 2016

You are not the National Chairman of our Party, PDP Tells Senator Ali Modu Sheriff...You Risk Jail Parading Yourself as Such.

Our attention has been drawn to another set of garbage and tissues of lies put together by the discredited loyalists of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff in the name of a press statement on Monday, November 28, 2016, wherein, the group tried to sustain it's illegal claim to the leadership of our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

2. The National Caretaker Committee which has been confirmed severally by the Court as the authentic body saddled with the task of providing leadership for the Party pending the hosting of an elective National Convention, would have ignored the ranting of these men of dishonour but leaving them to continue deceiving Nigerians at this time would not be in the interest of democracy.

3. First and foremost, we wish to state categorically that in consonance with Judgment of various Courts, which Ali Modu-Sheriff and his team of confused travelers have not bothered to appeal, the former Borno State Governor is not the Chairman of our Party, the PDP.

4. His consistent claim to the Office is a continuation of their plans to sustain mayhem in our Party, but nature and fair justice have taken care of his desperation.

5. We wish to draw the attention of all Nigerians to the Judgment delivered by Justice Valentine Ashi of FCT High Court in Apo, Abuja on June 29, 2016, which states clearly that Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff was never and is not the PDP National Chairman; and equally, this Judgment was upheld by the Ruling of Justice Nwamaka Ogbonnaya also of the FCT High Court in Kubwa, Abuja on August 17, 2016.

6. It is instructive to note that Senator Modu-Sheriff and his team of circus performers have not deemed it fit to appeal the Court Judgments. It is tripartite in law that a Judgment not appeal is binding on the defendant.

7. The Courts have spoken, and their pronouncements are binding. However, those who wish to spend the rest of their lives behind prison bars may continue to utter heresy against the Court. We hope their children would be proud to bear the family names of convicts.

8. It is also morally wrong to accuse the National Caretaker Committee of being the reason why the Party is facing challenges in terms of unfavourable election results especially in Edo and Ondo States. Everyone knows the real enemies of the PDP.

9. We won't also forget in a hurry the ignoble role Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim played in scuttling our campaign for the Ondo Election. We also know those who pushed him forward for the hatchet job.

10. We are amused that the agents of darkness used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause confusion and frustrate our campaign for the Ondo Election, can accuse the National Caretaker Committee of impunity.

11. However, we simply want them to define what impunity is, using their acts of betrayal as a case study. What they are doing is the worst form of impunity, lawlessness, greed and avarice.

12. Their call on the National Caretaker Committee to self disband is uncharitable and unconstitutional. If they have any shame, they are the ones that should quietly disband. But honours can't be expected from impostors.

13. No matter what they say, we are determined as a political Party to forge ahead and put our house in order even without their inputs.

14. The National Caretaker Committee has not called for their expulsion against the claims they are making, the time for that has not come. But the rain of vengeance will not hang forever in the clouds.

15. The National Caretaker Committee wish to appreciate all loyal Party members, urging them to keep the faith as the Appellate Courts will do justice to the various appeals pending before it at the appropriate time; to put an end to the antics of these enemies of progress masquerading as members of our Party.

Politics / BREAKING News: PDP Rejects Outcome Of Ondo Guber Election.. by Purplebirdrep: 1:42pm On Nov 28, 2016
In an official statement released by the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dayo Adeyeye, on Monday, the party said that it has rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, and described the outcome of the election as a “charade and not the true reflection of the will of the people of Ondo State”.

The Chief Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Abdul-Ganiyu Ambali, had on Sunday, declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, winner of the election.

Akeredolu polled 244, 842, to defeat the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, who rallied 150, 380 votes to place second in the race.

According to Premium Times, Adeyeye in the statement, said the electoral umpire, INEC, aided the APC to rig the election, adding that INEC has now “graduated from inconclusive Elections as seen in Kogi, Bayelsa, Osun, FCT, Imo, Nassarawa and some other previous By-Elections in the Country to ‘Advanced Election Rigging’, as in the case of Edo and Ondo States Gubernatorial Elections”.

“It is common knowledge that the APC Agents openly bought votes of the electorates in the full glare of security operatives who did nothing to prevent such dastardly violation of the Electoral Law.

“It is not surprising that the electorates in Ondo state became so vulnerable to the corruptive influence of the APC because of the hash economic situation in the Country inflicted on Nigerians by the APC Administration which have indeed made all Nigerians virtually beggars in their own Country.”

Adeyeye said PDP had persistently called for the postponement of the Election before Saturday, for at least two weeks to enable the Party Campaign and prepare properly for the Election.

He said the party’s request followed the setback orchestrated by “Justice Okon Abang and the charlatans in PDP who allowed themselves to be used by the APC to destroy our chances in the Ondo State Election.

“The actions of INEC in collaboration with the APC led Administration left us no time to campaign and sell our Candidate and Party Manifesto to the electorates in Ondo State.

“Our persistent call for the postponement of the Election which was backed and supported by more than 20 other political parties were all rejected by INEC which were acting the script of the APC.

“It was a carefully planned and well-orchestrated strategy to rig the Election well in advance by preventing the PDP from planning and campaigning for the Election. The APC has hereby introduced a new formula of rigging Election in Nigeria.

“In view of the fact that the Election was blatantly manipulated from the beginning to the end to favour the APC, we vehemently reject the results of the November 26, 2016 Gubernatorial Election in Ondo State,” he said.

He also said Saturday’s election and all actions leading to it fell short of laid down principles guiding conduct of elections in Nigeria.

“We have instructed our Candidate and the Ondo State Chapter of our Party to proceed to the Tribunal to challenge the Outcome of the Election. We call on the Judiciary to redeem Nigeria’s image on this matter as we request for the total Cancellation of the Election in Ondo State,” the party said.

Politics / Why Eyitayo Jegede Is The Answe By Femi Salako by Purplebirdrep: 11:49am On Nov 25, 2016
WHY EYITAYO JEGEDE IS THE ANSWER

By Femi Salako
Triangle News Magazine

Eyitayo is a man of impeccable integrity, an attribute that is fast becoming a scarce commodity amongst holders of public offices. It is an indisputable fact that Mr Jegede is a super brilliant and highly experienced technocrat cum politician with topnotch skills of governance who has brought dynamic professionalism to his job while in office as Commissioner Justice. We are all witnesses to his achievements that has placed him in an unmatched pedestal for the Ondo governorship contest. Available records of unprecedented achievements garnered by Jegede in public office has been most inspiring and the need to rehash same in this piece has become quite compelling. It is to the credit of Eyitayo that he was the Chairman, Body of Attorneys General of the 36 states of federation; a position that saddled him with the responsibility of coordinating activities of his colleagues in the country. It is also on record that the Akure born Senior Advocate of Nigeria is an illustrious member of the Council of Legal Education in Nigeria, the body responsible for setting standards for legal education in Nigeria. He is equally a long standing member of Body of Benchers, the body responsible for the Call to Bar of successful law students in Nigeria. This symbol of humility and competence was two times the Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, Yola, Adamawa State branch. A major achievement of Eyitayo Jegede as Attorney General was the monumental improvements in the administration of Criminal justice system in Ondo State. Also, in collaboration with the office of the Chief Judge of the state, Eyitayo established the first High Court within the precincts of the prison to fast track the prosecution of criminal cases that have to do with capital offences in the state. This initiative was quite novel and noble; being the very first of its kind in the country. The enactment and signing into law of new Criminal Justice Administration in Ondo state was to the credit of Eyitayo Jegede.

Midwifing the review of the Laws of Ondo State for the very first time since the creation of the State in 1976 was another major achievement of Jegede while in office as Attorney General.
To the credit of Eyitayo was the establishment of the Court of Appeal in Ondo State. He also facilitated and handled the establishment of the National Industrial Courts in Ondo state in his capacity as the Attorney General. Establishment of zonal offices of the Federal Ministry of Justice in Ondo State was another effort of Eyitayo Jegede where he deserves accolades and commendations. Another area of high scores for Jegede was his skillful and dutiful handling of government interests in the courts of law and his supervision of critical governments businesses as delegated to him by the governor.

Beyond the numerous achievements of Jegede and his indispensable requisite experience in governance is what this pride of Akure kingdom has to offer the state. I can conveniently assert that Eyitayo Jegede is best positioned aspirant to hit the ground running after Dr Mimiko and ensure a seamless continuity of existing beneficial legacies. This assertion is not far fetched from the fact that Jegede had played critical roles in policy formulations of the outgoing government and starting from where the job would be stopped can never pose any hassle for the PDP hopeful candidate. The incontrovertible fact that Eyitayo is a technocrat who is very much aware of the compelling need to take full advantage of natural resources and human capital of the state to birth a new transformed Ondo state will be another advantage of his aspiration. The man has said on several fora that his three major plans for the state will firstly be the economy, secondly the economy and thirdly the economy. This is undoubtedly a foretaste of the preparedness of Eyitayo Jegede to give the Sunshine state the long awaited weaning of the state from the financial feeding bottle of Abuja through the monthly handouts. It is doubtful if there is any of the gladiators for the Alagbaka office whose global connection and national exposure to industrialize Ondo state can match that of Eyitayo. Governance at this critical period of national economic crunches should not in any way be the business of charlatans; but for a mind like that of Jegede who is highly prepared and armed with intellectual solutions to challenges ahead.

What should be of paramount interest to Ondo electorates as regards the November gubernatorial election is a process that will churn out of merit rather then the pedestrian clamour for senatorial locations. Good leadership transcends locations, religious sentiments and gender. Concerns of the good people of the Sunshine state should be and must at this point be who can give the workers, traders, students, artisans and the elderly better and sustainable welfare packages. A serious disservice will only be meted to the people if preposterous sentiments is allowed to take preference over merit, experience and eminent qualifications. Dwelling on the zone that is to produce the next governor is needless because the three senatorial districts had already produced governors after all. Since the unwritten rotational agreement will be starting all over again; it can then simply take off from any of the three senatorial districts of the state.

Description of good leadership will be incomplete without ample demonstration of love, care and empathy. This is an area where Eyitayo Jegede has contributed a great deal to the cause of humanity. Testimonies of his benevolence acts in the last seven years abound; albeit his magnanimity has been done quietly and without fanfare. Eyitayo has assisted hundreds of widows and other financially vulnerable women in the state. According to Mrs Ajoke Fisayo who is one of the many beneficiaries of his largeheartedness,"we love him a lot, he is very generous but not lousy". In the words of Mrs Adenike Ogunlade amidst tears of joy" I heard oga Eyitayo Jegede is contesting, may God hear his supplications and grant him his desire to govern our state. He is such a humble and very kind man".
Other heart warming testimonies of the helping hand and caring heart of Eyitayo Jegede for the downtrodden in the state is public knowledge across the length and breath of the Sunshine state.

The spiritual significance of name in the African society can just not be wished away. The name Eyitayo literarily translates to this is worthy of joy. The attendant effects of the aspiration of Eyitayo Jegede will at the end turn out to be worthy of bundle of joy and blessings for the good people of Ondo state.

INEC SHOULD REPLACE PROF.KAYODE SOREMEKUN AS STATE RETURNING OFFICER.

The much publicised Ondo State Gubernatorial Election will hold tomorrow on 26th November,2016.The imbroglio surrounding candidatures of political parties have been resolved either internally or through judicial interventions. The good people of Ondo State will surely cast their votes for whoever they loved to steer the ships of our sunshine state among the contestants cleared by INEC.
Significantly,INEC State Returning Officer has vital role to play in order to ensure smooth success of the Election. The political parties in Ondo State presently are resisting the appointment of Prof.Kayode Soremekun V.C.Federal University,Oye Ekiti as State Returning Officer. The facts remained that he was alleged to have masterminded rigging in favour of ruling party in Edo State.Edo people protested heavily and they are currently locking horns at Election Petition Tribunal.Ordinarily,The Prof.who is a school administrator should decline the offer in order to save his reputation and integrity. The entire populace of Ondo people can never entrust their destiny and progress into the hands of a man with questionable character and doubting sincerity.
INEC as an independent organization saddled with the sole aim of conducting fair, reliable and credible elections in a country must be transparent in all their dealings. They must not collude with any political party (ies) to compromise and attempted to thwart efforts of the nation's founding fathers which hinges on just and egalitarian society.
INEC National Chairman Prof.Mahmud should please use his good office and appoint another University Don who possessed clean and untampered records as State Returning Officer.Prof.Kayode Soremekun was alleged to have been briefed to repeat Edo state saga in Ondo State. Therefore, his purported appointment amounted to ultra vire, null and void and totally unacceptable to our Sunshine State.INEC Chairman should please ensure that the sanctity of his respected office is protected. The whole World are interested in this Gubernatorial Election therefore we must adhere strictly to the Nation's Electoral Act and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria where INEC derives it's principle, independence, supremacy and authority.

BREAKING: Appeal Court Declares Eyitayo Jegede Ondo PDP Governorship Candidate

The Appeal court has delivered judgment in a suit to determine the Ondo state governorship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just days before the Governorship elections in the state. An internal crisis in the PDP led to the emergence od two factions, with each faction presenting a candidate.

One faction produced Jimoh Ibrahim as its flagbearer while the other chose Eyitayo Jegede as flagbearer. A Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday ordered the lower court to continue hearing the matter having dismissed an application filed by a factional leader of the PDP in Ondo State, Biyi Poroye, who is of Mr. Ibrahim’s faction.

The Appeal court today ruled that Eyitayo Jegede is the legitimate candidate of the PDP for the elections.

I Now Realize Buhari Is Worse Than Jonathan – Falana Cries Out

Renowned Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, might have now realized that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is worse than that of Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, having confessed that there is inherent evil in the proposed $29.9 billion loan, the president seeks to borrow.

According to him, at the end of the day, only 50 percent of the amount will arrive Nigeria with generations suffering to repay it.

Vehemently opposing the move to obtain the loan, Falana during the weekend, counseled the President to channel recovered loots towards addressing the growing economic hardship in the country.

Falana stated this while speaking at the 4th Convocation Lecture of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ile Ife, adding that he had written the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to that effect.

Continuing, Falana called on the government to recover the looted wealth of the nation and prosecute the culprits, without considering their party affiliation.

He further called for the investigation of payment and servicing of debts, insisting that most of the loans that gave rise to them were diverted by public officers.

Falana said: “Curiously, the Buhari administration has failed to address capital flight and round tripping by financial institutions, otherwise why has the government been reluctant to ask EFCC to recover and sanction the oil and shipping companies which under declared the crude oil worth billions of dollars shipped from Nigeria, under the Jonathan administration?

“Why has the Federal Government failed to recover the $20.2 billion withheld from the Federation Account by the NNPC and some oil companies from 1999-2012?

“Why has the Federal Government not inquired into the allegation that the sum of $25.4 billion was laundered and illegally taken out of Nigeria by a telecommunication company?

“Why has the government failed to recover the looted wealth of the nation which has been traced to financial institutions in the west and the United Arab Emirates?”

“Why has the CBN failed to recover the $7 billion deposit and N600 billion bailout given to the commercial banks in 2006 and 2008 respectively? Instead of intensifying efforts to recover such huge funds among several others, the government is determined to take a loan of $29.6billion”.

9 Governors, 100 Chieftains 'Set to Exit' From APC
There are indications that some state governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are planning to ditch the ruling party.
The rumoured exit, according to a party leader, will affect the fortunes of the governing party and President Muhammadu Buhari’s future ambition in 2019, New Telegraph gathered.

The party is expected to suffer more in South-West and North Central. Although the APC.

However, National Secretary of the APC, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has dismissed the reports of the impending defection of some governors as untrue.

According to Buni, President Buhari and the governors “are on the same page of providing democracy dividends to the electorate.”

But a member of the ruling party, who confided with New Telegraph said the governors had been bearing the pains of dashes hopes and exclusion from major decisions of government for a long while and forced to voice it out after Buhari released his list of ambassadorial nominees and they found that they were completely sidelined from the process.

The building as seen in the disturbing photo was ridden with bullets and other weapons of destruction that must have been employed in the hot battle between the insurgents and Nigerian soldiers.

The picture was shared on Facebook by one Comrade Adamu Yakubu. Abu, commanding officer of the 272 Task Force Tank Battalion, died at about 10.00pm on Friday when suspected insurgents attacked the 119 Battalion Nigerian army location at Mallam Fatori, northern Borno state.

He was described as the nightmare of the Boko Haram sect who played a massive role in the recapture of Baga from Boko Haram which led to his accelerated promotion from a major to the post of lieutenant colonel.

NNPC official: N145 no longer sustainable… pump price will increase

Mele Kyari, group general manager, crude oil marketing division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says the increase pump price of petrol is inevitable.

According to Vanguard, Kyari said this in Lagos at the 2016 Oil Trading and Logistics (OTL) Conference.

He reportedly said it was impossible to import products at the current foreign exchange rate, sell at the rate of N145 per litre, and make any gain.

“We have a very difficult business environment. It is impossible today to import products at the current market price – at the current foreign exchange rate. There is no way today you can take the product to retail and sell at N145. It is not possible today,” Kyari reportedly said.

“If that is true and I believe that it is true because we all go to the market, why can’t we sell above N145? I also know today that it is impossible for this government to announce tomorrow that petrol is about N150.

“The people will not take that number. That is why suppliers are not importing. It problem here is not FX. We have created a niche market for FX.

Judiciary must save democracy in Nigeria - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on the judiciary to rise in defence of democracy by doing justice fearlessly, speedily and with honesty in the Ondo State election cases and other political cases before the courts.

Governor Fayose, who hailed the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa for the swift composition of a new panel to hear appeals over the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, urged the panel to be mindful of delay tactics by the same people who wrote frivolous petition to impugn on the integrity of the initial panel.

In a statement issued on Friday, by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose urged the new Appeal Panel to “do justice unto God and not unto powers that be and be mindful that justice delayed is justice denied.”

The governor condemned the silence of President Mohammadu Buhari on the Ondo State matter, saying; “Silence of the president on a matter that poses serious threat to democracy in the country is highly disturbing.”

He said; "No doubt, democracy in Nigeria is being threatened by the open collaboration of the APC led federal government with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and only a God fearing judiciary can save the situation from getting out of hands.

"In its desperation to distract the PDP and rig the Ondo State election in advance for the APC, INEC has chosen to abandon its own law by endorsing someone who did not emerge through any known electoral process as the candidate of the PDP, thereby plunging Ondo State into crisis.

“There is no doubt that all other political parties in Nigeria except the APC are now contesting elections against INEC. But like every afflictions of the Israelites, this too will not endure forever.

"The new Appeal Panel must therefore do its job speedily and timely so that the rez is not destroyed and in the process destroy what is remaining of our democracy. The panel should remember the Biblical Solomonic judgment that saved that harlot and her child and must not allow enemies of democracy to use delay tactics to frustrate the case.”

Speaking further, Governor Fayose said it was worrisome that in its bid to turn Nigeria to a one-party state, the judiciary was being harassed and intimidated to submission.

“We are at a critical junction in our history as a nation, noble men are becoming helpless daily and we need God to intervene through the judiciary.

“If the judiciary fails to rise to this perilous situation and save our democracy from the hands of the APC cabal, it will not survive the onslaught that will be brought on it sooner than later,” he said.

While calling on the people of Ondo State to stand up and defend democracy in their State, Governor Fayose assured that anti-democracy elements trying to manipulate the November 26 election in advance will be defeated by the collective will of the people.

He charged the APC led federal government to put food on the tables of Nigerians instead of preoccupying itself with its political expansion agenda.

Can we also ask our Oga Presido Buhari what happened to the N3 Trillion (about $10bn) he told us that he saved through the Treasury Single Account (TSA)?

If you have saved N3 Trillion (about $10bn) through TSA, recovered $90bn from Diezani and still recovering $200bn looted fund in Dubai, why do you need to borrow $29.9bn?

Diezani $90bn
TSA $10bn
Dubai loots $200bn
TOTAL $300bn

$300bn - $29.9bn = $270.1bn

Meaning that we should still have balance of of $270.1bn nah!

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders declares support for Ekiti Grazing Law, visits Fayose

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria(MACBAN), Ekiti State Chapter has promised to support the Ekiti State Government in making more effective its Anti-grazing law.

The Miyetti Allah also promised to collaborate with the State government to rid the State herdsmen that are committing crimes in the State.

This was the outcome of the meeting held Monday evening between the leadership of the association and the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

Sequel to this development, the Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has directed the suspension of activities of the Ekiti Anti-Grazing Enforcement Marshals (EGEM) till Thursday, November 3, a date scheduled for a meeting with all herdmen in Ekiti State by 11am at the government house, Ado Ekiti.

The suspension will enable the herdsmen to move their cattle to designated locations in the State.

Ondo guber: Jegede remains our candidate
~ Makarfi-led PDP faction

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it will only work with Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as its candidate in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.

It said it would not work with Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, who was on Thursday announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s candidate.

Spokesperson for the faction, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.
Adeyeye alleged that the process that threw up Ibrahim was illegal.

He said, “We reject in its totality the announcement of INEC of the list of candidates for the Ondo State governorship election on which the names of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim and Alabi Omotayo as candidate and running mate of our party were published respectively.

“In announcing its list, INEC completely disregarded the order of Justice Olamide of the Ondo State High Court restraining INEC from substituting the name of our candidate, Jegede choosing instead to pay heed to the order given by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court.

“These actions have resulted in massive protests in many parts of Ondo State as the Ondo people have taken to the streets to show displeasure at the schemes to deny them of the candidate of their choice for the governorship election.

“It is most unfortunate that INEC and external forces are seeking to make Jimoh Ibrahim, who is not a member of our party and who did not participate in our primaries which INEC itself has admitted, the candidate of our party through the back door.”

However, the faction of the party under the control of Senator Ahmed Makarfi said Ibrahim remains the choice of the party.

It called on all its members, including the Makarfi group, to work with the candidate who he said, would defeat others to win the election.

The National Secretary of the faction, Prof. Wale Oladipo, who stated this in an interview with our correspondent, said Governor Olusegun Mimiko would be expected to lead Ibrahim’s campaign as the leader of the party in the state.

Ondo: Mimiko alerts Buhari of imminent danger

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Friday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari over the political development in the state that saw the Independent National Electoral Commission recognising Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election.

He later told State House correspondents that he decided to visit the Presidential Villa, Abuja to intimate the President of the imminent danger in the decision which he described as injustice to the people of the state.

The governor admitted that he was shocked because the development had no basis in law or politics.

“I am shocked. In logic, in law, in politics, there is no basis for this decision whatsoever.,” the governor said.

He explained that the court order upon which the INEC based its decision was about zonal and state executives of the PDP and was not about the 2016 election.

While saying that Ibrahim and Eyitayo Jegede were not parties to the suit, the governor said the INEC initially took the right decision by making it clear that it was not state or zonal executive that was empowered by the Electoral Act to conduct election.

He said while the INEC and security agencies monitored the party’s primary elections that produced Jegede in Akure, Ibrahim decided to hold his primary in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital when there was no threat to peace in Akure.

Ongoing potest in Ondo over Jegede’s name removal as PDP candidate in the Ondo election
Mimiko said his camp would have disregarded the Justice Okon Abang’s judgement that ordered INEC to recognise Ibrahim but for an information given to him that the commission would only act on the last order on the matter.

Based on this, he said his camp appealed the judgement, saying the notice of appeal should naturally have served as a stay of execution.

He said they therefore approached the court and got two orders mandating INEC not to replace Jegede’s name.

According to him, while one of the judgements was served on the commission at about 10am on Thursday, the other was served at about 3pm.

He added, “Only around 7 or 8 pm (on Thursday), we got to know that INEC for no justifiable reason had substituted the name of Jegede and replaced it with that of Ibrahim.

“The question to ask is on whose order has INEC done that?

“Apart from the fact that we have two restraining orders on INEC, the commission knows fully well that Jimoh Ibrahim’s primaries was in Ibadan.

“There was no report by security agencies that the security situation in Ondo State warranted the movement of the primaries to Ibadan or anywhere outside the state for that matter.

“Under inec guidelines, the time for substitution of candidates has even elapsed.”

Mimiko said he decided to meet Buhari to inform him that the INEC’s decision had the potential of setting the state on fire.

He said, “This action potentially can cause a breach of peace. In Ondo State in the last seven and half years, we have done everything possible to put good governance on the table and promote peace.

“We see this action as potentially dangerous. It can cause conflagration in the state and that is why as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I have come to alert Mr. President of the potential danger of this injustice so that we can nip it in the bud.”

He said Buhari had assured him that he would look into the issue with a view to ensuring that where there is injustice, it would be rectified.
Politics / Ekiti APC Youths Condemns Ojudu’s Meeting With Herdsmen Leaders by Purplebirdrep: 10:11am On Oct 27, 2016
Ekiti APC Youths condemns Ojudu’s meeting with herdsmen leaders

Youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) have condemned the Special Adviser (Political) in the office of the Vice President Senator, Babafemi Ojudu for choosing to hold meeting with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, despite that the association threatened the government and people of Ekiti State over the recently introduced anti-grazing law.

In a press statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday and jointly signed by Mr Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, the EAYC said it was painful that leaders of the APC like Senator Ojudu always involve themselves in actions that will set Ekiti people against the party.

The youths said it was painful that while the entire people of Ekiti State were seeing the the Prohibition of Cattle and other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti State law, 2016 and its total enforcement beyond political party lines and were standing behind Governor Ayodele Fayose, APC leaders like Senator Ojudu could be hobnobbing with leaders of MIyetti Allah in Abuja.

When our party failed to speak out to condemn killing of fellow indigenes of Ekiti State by Fulani herdsmen, we condemned it.

We said then that support for President Mohammadu Buhari should not becloud the party’s sense of reasoning and patriotism towards Ekiti and its people.

However, instead of our leaders to join Governor Fayose to safeguard the lives of Ekiti people and the sources of their livelihood against the killer herdsmen, Senator Ojudu, again took the ridiculous step of holding meeting with leaders of the herdsmen, not minding that they openly threatened to invade Ekiti State.

At such a meeting, we would have expected that Senator Ojudu would ask the Miyetti Allah what role it played when its members invaded Oke-Ako and killed two Ekiti sons, but we were shocked to read in the newspapers that Ojudu was pacifying them.

How do we now, as a party face Ekiti people that are already seeing our party as supporting the herdsmen’s killing of our people and destruction of their farmlands?

Haven’t Ojudu now justify that belief that APC is supporting Fulani herdsmen against Ekiti people and that we value cows more than human lives?

Anti-Grazing: PDP accuses FG, Ojudu, APC of supporting herdsmen planned invasion of Ekiti

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described the yesterday’s meeting of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters and former Senator, representing Ekiti Central, Senator Babafemi Ojudu with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as a confirmation that the federal government and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State were in support of the invasion of the State by Fulani herdsmen.

The party, which expressed worry that Senator Ojudu could choose to play politics with the lives and sources of livelihood of Ekiti people, said; “With Ojudu’s display of friendship with members of the Miyetti Allah, despite the threat issued by the association issued against the government and people of Ekiti State, the State and its people must have seen who their real enemy is.”

State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo, said in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday that it was strange that the same Senator Ojudu that kept silent when Fulani herdsmen killed two Ekiti sons and injured several others in Oke Ako in Ikole Local Government was now the one meeting members of Miyetti Allah to pacify them over their alleged killing of their cows.

The party said it was curious that Ojudu and the APC led federal government could be more concerned with the lives of cows than the lives of Ekiti people.

The PDP said; “Ekiti people can now see that the federal government and APC leaders in Ekiti are behind the threat by the Fulani herdsmen to invade our State. If not, did Ojudu call the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association to any meeting when their herdsmen murdered his own people?

“Did the federal government and the APC issue common press statement to condemn the killing of our people in Oke-Ako and destruction of their sources of livelihood?

“Are cows now more important to Ojudu and his APC than Ekiti people and their sources of livelihood?

“Obviously, by the silence of Ojudu and his party leaders when two Ekiti sons were killed and several others injured by herdsmen, it is clear that the threat issued by Miyetti Allah on Saturday has the tacit support of the federal government?”

Exposed!! EFCC beg Obanikoro to help implicate Fayose, promise him safe landing

Information reaching the Punch News has it that EFCC, under the direct order from the presidency perfected the return of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro back to the country just to implicate Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state.

The arrangement came in order to see to the political end of the outspoken Ekiti governor, who has in countless times taken the Buhari administration to the cleaner.

Punch News has authoritatively gathered that the sudden reappearance of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro in Nigeria after more than a year of disappearance had the backing of the presidency.

The deal with Obanikoro to come to Nigeria was brokered and struck by some powerful northern elements in the presidency. It was gathered that the seemingly lost battle with Governor Fayose of Ekiti State did not go down well with the presidency.

Obanikoro, according to one of his aides that confided in our reporter met with the Buhari's emissaries after series of calls and promises. One of such promises Punch News learnt was a soft-landing which will include the type of clemency given to a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and former military governor of Kaduna state, Jafaru Isa, who the presidency told to return N100m out of the N170m he reportedly received from embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki to regain his freedom, rights, and privileges.

Another source in the presidency says Buhari is determined to have the last laugh over the 'stubborn' Ekiti governor.

The source says, "Baba (Buhari) is not happy with the way EFCC has not been able to tie down Fayose, his constant attacks on Buhari and his government do provoke Baba and his kinsmen, and they're as well determined to bring the governor down by all means.

"Buhari and his kinsmen won't let Fayose's constant diatribes against the president and his administration go unchallenged. The battle is on, the presidency will deploy all within its power (legal or illegal) to fight the governor.

But the fearless Governor has swiftly responded in usual manner by advising the president to stop the wild goose chase and put an end to the sufferings of Nigerians. The governor says, "Nigerians were more interested in having food on their tables, those who arranged the dramatic and compromised return of Senator Obanikoro to Nigeria obviously did so in continuation of their project ‘Fayose must be implicated at all cost’ but I am not bothered because my election was legitimately funded.

“However, if this is why they are intimidating judges and the judiciary, it won’t work as far as my own matter is concerned as no one can play God.

“As far as I am concerned, I am busy here in Ekiti attending to the welfare and well-being of my people. I won’t be distracted.”

Senator Musiliu is expected to regain his freedom as soon as he's done implicating the Ekiti governor.
