touching picture of the spot where lieutenant colonel Muhammad Abu Ali was ambushed and slain by Boko Haram operatives has surfaced online amidst national mourning by Nigerians.

The building as seen in the disturbing photo was ridden with bullets and other weapons of destruction that must have been employed in the hot battle between the insurgents and Nigerian soldiers.

The picture was shared on Facebook by one Comrade Adamu Yakubu. Abu, commanding officer of the 272 Task Force Tank Battalion, died at about 10.00pm on Friday when suspected insurgents attacked the 119 Battalion Nigerian army location at Mallam Fatori, northern Borno state.

He was described as the nightmare of the Boko Haram sect who played a massive role in the recapture of Baga from Boko Haram which led to his accelerated promotion from a major to the post of lieutenant colonel.

NNPC official: N145 no longer sustainable… pump price will increase

Mele Kyari, group general manager, crude oil marketing division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says the increase pump price of petrol is inevitable.

According to Vanguard, Kyari said this in Lagos at the 2016 Oil Trading and Logistics (OTL) Conference.

He reportedly said it was impossible to import products at the current foreign exchange rate, sell at the rate of N145 per litre, and make any gain.

“We have a very difficult business environment. It is impossible today to import products at the current market price – at the current foreign exchange rate. There is no way today you can take the product to retail and sell at N145. It is not possible today,” Kyari reportedly said.

“If that is true and I believe that it is true because we all go to the market, why can’t we sell above N145? I also know today that it is impossible for this government to announce tomorrow that petrol is about N150.

“The people will not take that number. That is why suppliers are not importing. It problem here is not FX. We have created a niche market for FX.

Judiciary must save democracy in Nigeria - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on the judiciary to rise in defence of democracy by doing justice fearlessly, speedily and with honesty in the Ondo State election cases and other political cases before the courts.

Governor Fayose, who hailed the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa for the swift composition of a new panel to hear appeals over the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, urged the panel to be mindful of delay tactics by the same people who wrote frivolous petition to impugn on the integrity of the initial panel.

In a statement issued on Friday, by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose urged the new Appeal Panel to “do justice unto God and not unto powers that be and be mindful that justice delayed is justice denied.”

The governor condemned the silence of President Mohammadu Buhari on the Ondo State matter, saying; “Silence of the president on a matter that poses serious threat to democracy in the country is highly disturbing.”

He said; "No doubt, democracy in Nigeria is being threatened by the open collaboration of the APC led federal government with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and only a God fearing judiciary can save the situation from getting out of hands.

"In its desperation to distract the PDP and rig the Ondo State election in advance for the APC, INEC has chosen to abandon its own law by endorsing someone who did not emerge through any known electoral process as the candidate of the PDP, thereby plunging Ondo State into crisis.

“There is no doubt that all other political parties in Nigeria except the APC are now contesting elections against INEC. But like every afflictions of the Israelites, this too will not endure forever.

"The new Appeal Panel must therefore do its job speedily and timely so that the rez is not destroyed and in the process destroy what is remaining of our democracy. The panel should remember the Biblical Solomonic judgment that saved that harlot and her child and must not allow enemies of democracy to use delay tactics to frustrate the case.”

Speaking further, Governor Fayose said it was worrisome that in its bid to turn Nigeria to a one-party state, the judiciary was being harassed and intimidated to submission.

“We are at a critical junction in our history as a nation, noble men are becoming helpless daily and we need God to intervene through the judiciary.

“If the judiciary fails to rise to this perilous situation and save our democracy from the hands of the APC cabal, it will not survive the onslaught that will be brought on it sooner than later,” he said.

While calling on the people of Ondo State to stand up and defend democracy in their State, Governor Fayose assured that anti-democracy elements trying to manipulate the November 26 election in advance will be defeated by the collective will of the people.

He charged the APC led federal government to put food on the tables of Nigerians instead of preoccupying itself with its political expansion agenda.

Can we also ask our Oga Presido Buhari what happened to the N3 Trillion (about $10bn) he told us that he saved through the Treasury Single Account (TSA)?

If you have saved N3 Trillion (about $10bn) through TSA, recovered $90bn from Diezani and still recovering $200bn looted fund in Dubai, why do you need to borrow $29.9bn?

Diezani $90bn
TSA $10bn
Dubai loots $200bn
TOTAL $300bn

$300bn - $29.9bn = $270.1bn

Meaning that we should still have balance of of $270.1bn nah!

Ondo guber: Jegede remains our candidate
~ Makarfi-led PDP faction

The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it will only work with Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as its candidate in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.

It said it would not work with Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, who was on Thursday announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s candidate.

Spokesperson for the faction, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.
Adeyeye alleged that the process that threw up Ibrahim was illegal.

He said, “We reject in its totality the announcement of INEC of the list of candidates for the Ondo State governorship election on which the names of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim and Alabi Omotayo as candidate and running mate of our party were published respectively.

“In announcing its list, INEC completely disregarded the order of Justice Olamide of the Ondo State High Court restraining INEC from substituting the name of our candidate, Jegede choosing instead to pay heed to the order given by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court.

“These actions have resulted in massive protests in many parts of Ondo State as the Ondo people have taken to the streets to show displeasure at the schemes to deny them of the candidate of their choice for the governorship election.

“It is most unfortunate that INEC and external forces are seeking to make Jimoh Ibrahim, who is not a member of our party and who did not participate in our primaries which INEC itself has admitted, the candidate of our party through the back door.”

However, the faction of the party under the control of Senator Ahmed Makarfi said Ibrahim remains the choice of the party.

It called on all its members, including the Makarfi group, to work with the candidate who he said, would defeat others to win the election.

The National Secretary of the faction, Prof. Wale Oladipo, who stated this in an interview with our correspondent, said Governor Olusegun Mimiko would be expected to lead Ibrahim’s campaign as the leader of the party in the state.
PoliticsOndo: Mimiko Alerts Buhari Of Imminent Danger by Purplebirdrep(op): 2:21pm On Oct 28, 2016
Ondo: Mimiko alerts Buhari of imminent danger

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on Friday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari over the political development in the state that saw the Independent National Electoral Commission recognising Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election.

He later told State House correspondents that he decided to visit the Presidential Villa, Abuja to intimate the President of the imminent danger in the decision which he described as injustice to the people of the state.

The governor admitted that he was shocked because the development had no basis in law or politics.

“I am shocked. In logic, in law, in politics, there is no basis for this decision whatsoever.,” the governor said.

He explained that the court order upon which the INEC based its decision was about zonal and state executives of the PDP and was not about the 2016 election.

While saying that Ibrahim and Eyitayo Jegede were not parties to the suit, the governor said the INEC initially took the right decision by making it clear that it was not state or zonal executive that was empowered by the Electoral Act to conduct election.

He said while the INEC and security agencies monitored the party’s primary elections that produced Jegede in Akure, Ibrahim decided to hold his primary in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital when there was no threat to peace in Akure.

Ongoing potest in Ondo over Jegede’s name removal as PDP candidate in the Ondo election
Mimiko said his camp would have disregarded the Justice Okon Abang’s judgement that ordered INEC to recognise Ibrahim but for an information given to him that the commission would only act on the last order on the matter.

Based on this, he said his camp appealed the judgement, saying the notice of appeal should naturally have served as a stay of execution.

He said they therefore approached the court and got two orders mandating INEC not to replace Jegede’s name.

According to him, while one of the judgements was served on the commission at about 10am on Thursday, the other was served at about 3pm.

He added, “Only around 7 or 8 pm (on Thursday), we got to know that INEC for no justifiable reason had substituted the name of Jegede and replaced it with that of Ibrahim.

“The question to ask is on whose order has INEC done that?

“Apart from the fact that we have two restraining orders on INEC, the commission knows fully well that Jimoh Ibrahim’s primaries was in Ibadan.

“There was no report by security agencies that the security situation in Ondo State warranted the movement of the primaries to Ibadan or anywhere outside the state for that matter.

“Under inec guidelines, the time for substitution of candidates has even elapsed.”

Mimiko said he decided to meet Buhari to inform him that the INEC’s decision had the potential of setting the state on fire.

He said, “This action potentially can cause a breach of peace. In Ondo State in the last seven and half years, we have done everything possible to put good governance on the table and promote peace.

“We see this action as potentially dangerous. It can cause conflagration in the state and that is why as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I have come to alert Mr. President of the potential danger of this injustice so that we can nip it in the bud.”

He said Buhari had assured him that he would look into the issue with a view to ensuring that where there is injustice, it would be rectified.
PoliticsEkiti APC Youths Condemns Ojudu’s Meeting With Herdsmen Leaders by Purplebirdrep(op): 10:11am On Oct 27, 2016
Ekiti APC Youths condemns Ojudu’s meeting with herdsmen leaders

Youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) have condemned the Special Adviser (Political) in the office of the Vice President Senator, Babafemi Ojudu for choosing to hold meeting with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, despite that the association threatened the government and people of Ekiti State over the recently introduced anti-grazing law.

In a press statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday and jointly signed by Mr Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, the EAYC said it was painful that leaders of the APC like Senator Ojudu always involve themselves in actions that will set Ekiti people against the party.

The youths said it was painful that while the entire people of Ekiti State were seeing the the Prohibition of Cattle and other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti State law, 2016 and its total enforcement beyond political party lines and were standing behind Governor Ayodele Fayose, APC leaders like Senator Ojudu could be hobnobbing with leaders of MIyetti Allah in Abuja.

When our party failed to speak out to condemn killing of fellow indigenes of Ekiti State by Fulani herdsmen, we condemned it.

We said then that support for President Mohammadu Buhari should not becloud the party’s sense of reasoning and patriotism towards Ekiti and its people.

However, instead of our leaders to join Governor Fayose to safeguard the lives of Ekiti people and the sources of their livelihood against the killer herdsmen, Senator Ojudu, again took the ridiculous step of holding meeting with leaders of the herdsmen, not minding that they openly threatened to invade Ekiti State.

At such a meeting, we would have expected that Senator Ojudu would ask the Miyetti Allah what role it played when its members invaded Oke-Ako and killed two Ekiti sons, but we were shocked to read in the newspapers that Ojudu was pacifying them.

How do we now, as a party face Ekiti people that are already seeing our party as supporting the herdsmen’s killing of our people and destruction of their farmlands?

Haven’t Ojudu now justify that belief that APC is supporting Fulani herdsmen against Ekiti people and that we value cows more than human lives?

Anti-Grazing: PDP accuses FG, Ojudu, APC of supporting herdsmen planned invasion of Ekiti

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has described the yesterday’s meeting of the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters and former Senator, representing Ekiti Central, Senator Babafemi Ojudu with members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as a confirmation that the federal government and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State were in support of the invasion of the State by Fulani herdsmen.

The party, which expressed worry that Senator Ojudu could choose to play politics with the lives and sources of livelihood of Ekiti people, said; “With Ojudu’s display of friendship with members of the Miyetti Allah, despite the threat issued by the association issued against the government and people of Ekiti State, the State and its people must have seen who their real enemy is.”

State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo, said in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday that it was strange that the same Senator Ojudu that kept silent when Fulani herdsmen killed two Ekiti sons and injured several others in Oke Ako in Ikole Local Government was now the one meeting members of Miyetti Allah to pacify them over their alleged killing of their cows.

The party said it was curious that Ojudu and the APC led federal government could be more concerned with the lives of cows than the lives of Ekiti people.

The PDP said; “Ekiti people can now see that the federal government and APC leaders in Ekiti are behind the threat by the Fulani herdsmen to invade our State. If not, did Ojudu call the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association to any meeting when their herdsmen murdered his own people?

“Did the federal government and the APC issue common press statement to condemn the killing of our people in Oke-Ako and destruction of their sources of livelihood?

“Are cows now more important to Ojudu and his APC than Ekiti people and their sources of livelihood?

“Obviously, by the silence of Ojudu and his party leaders when two Ekiti sons were killed and several others injured by herdsmen, it is clear that the threat issued by Miyetti Allah on Saturday has the tacit support of the federal government?”

Exposed!! EFCC beg Obanikoro to help implicate Fayose, promise him safe landing

Information reaching the Punch News has it that EFCC, under the direct order from the presidency perfected the return of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro back to the country just to implicate Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state.

The arrangement came in order to see to the political end of the outspoken Ekiti governor, who has in countless times taken the Buhari administration to the cleaner.

Punch News has authoritatively gathered that the sudden reappearance of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro in Nigeria after more than a year of disappearance had the backing of the presidency.

The deal with Obanikoro to come to Nigeria was brokered and struck by some powerful northern elements in the presidency. It was gathered that the seemingly lost battle with Governor Fayose of Ekiti State did not go down well with the presidency.

Obanikoro, according to one of his aides that confided in our reporter met with the Buhari's emissaries after series of calls and promises. One of such promises Punch News learnt was a soft-landing which will include the type of clemency given to a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and former military governor of Kaduna state, Jafaru Isa, who the presidency told to return N100m out of the N170m he reportedly received from embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki to regain his freedom, rights, and privileges.

Another source in the presidency says Buhari is determined to have the last laugh over the 'stubborn' Ekiti governor.

The source says, "Baba (Buhari) is not happy with the way EFCC has not been able to tie down Fayose, his constant attacks on Buhari and his government do provoke Baba and his kinsmen, and they're as well determined to bring the governor down by all means.

"Buhari and his kinsmen won't let Fayose's constant diatribes against the president and his administration go unchallenged. The battle is on, the presidency will deploy all within its power (legal or illegal) to fight the governor.

But the fearless Governor has swiftly responded in usual manner by advising the president to stop the wild goose chase and put an end to the sufferings of Nigerians. The governor says, "Nigerians were more interested in having food on their tables, those who arranged the dramatic and compromised return of Senator Obanikoro to Nigeria obviously did so in continuation of their project ‘Fayose must be implicated at all cost’ but I am not bothered because my election was legitimately funded.

“However, if this is why they are intimidating judges and the judiciary, it won’t work as far as my own matter is concerned as no one can play God.

“As far as I am concerned, I am busy here in Ekiti attending to the welfare and well-being of my people. I won’t be distracted.”

Senator Musiliu is expected to regain his freedom as soon as he's done implicating the Ekiti governor.

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE ILLEGAL DETENTION AND ARREST OF MY WIFE ON THE ORDERS OF THE EFCC

This govt is sick and cowardly and so are the EFCC. If you have a problem with me face me and leave my family alone.

My wife travelled to Ado Ekiti to see my friend and brother Governor Fayose and his family.

They were on their way out of town when they went to Access Bank in Ado Ekiti to get some money.

When they got there my 8 month old son Aragorn and wife Precious Chikwendu were illegally detained, brutalised and put under arrest on the orders of the EFCC at a bank in Ado Ekiti today.

She has never had any business with me, she has never been formally invited by the EFCC or asked any questions about her transactions and neither have they written to her on any issue even though they are always sending letters to my house and sending people there.

If Buhari wants to deal with me why doesnt he face me like a man obstead of trying to harm and hurt my 8 month old son and wife.

Had it not been for the intervention of Governor Ayo Fayose they would have been taken them away and subjected them to all manner of harm and indignities simply because she is married to me.

This was an account that has 200,000 naira in it and that has never had more than 500,000.

She has operated it since 2005 and she stopped using it in 2013. The account has no connection with me and I did not know it existed till today.

In an attempt to starve and harass me and my family all my accounts and wifes accounts have been frozen.

Now they are resorting to arresting peoples wives and children for no just cause.

I thank God for Gov. Fayose and the people of Ado Ekiti who stormed the bank and freed my wife from this illegal detention and attempt to kidnap them.

Had it not been for the governors intervention and prescence the bank would have been burnt down by the crowd. My family have since left Ekiti state.

This is Buhari's Nigeria and we will resist his wickedness and tyranny.

We intend to sue the bank and to sue the EFCC for this illegal and wicked action. They have no right to do this.

If they want to see my wife all they need to do is to invite her. We have nothing to fear. They do not need to be so primitive and barbaric to people.

President Buhari is Nigeria’s major problem - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described President Mohammadu Buhari as the major problem of Nigeria that Nigerians must solve, saying that; “Our President, through his actions and inactions is destroying everything that makes Nigeria a country and well-meaning Nigerians must stand-up to be counted in the crusade to save the country from going under.”

The governor said it was President Buhari that went to foreign countries to de-market Nigeria by calling all Nigerians thieves and dishonest people, asking; “Which foreign investor will invest his money in a country of dishonest people? Who made investors to leave Nigeria if not President Buhari, who created atmosphere of economic and political instability in the country by his acts of nepotism and vindictiveness?”

Governor Fayose lamented that “President Buhari has not only taking Nigeria to economic recession, he has moved the country to economic depression.”

According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said President Buhari should realise that “Nigerians will not measure his government on the basis of what his predecessors failed to do, but on what he does or neglected to do between May 29, 2016 and May 29, 2019.”

He said with the level of hunger in the country, President Buhari should rather get serious and be innovative with governance and stop his blame game, adding that; “No nation has ever reached greatness by their leaders engaging in blame game, nepotism and vengeance as being done by President Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) government.”

The governor said “Nigerians must begin to speak out now before the country is totally destroyed by this one-man government, which does not see any idea coming from those perceived as opposed to the government as worthy of consideration.

“Like I said before, the main issue confronting Nigerians now is hunger and hunger does not speak the language of politics. It is therefore no longer about politics; it is about preventing hunger from killing Nigerians.”

Governor Fayose, who said the federal government should stop deceiving Nigerians with stories of injecting funds into the economy, added that the economic problems facing the country has gone beyond talks of injecting N350 billion into the economy through execution of capital projects.

“If they inject even N500 billion into the economy by paying contractors executing federal government capital projects, how does that affect the price of rice and other food items? How does it affect the price of basic drugs?

“Instead of unsustainable measures, what President Buhari should do is to bring economic experts in the country together not-minding their political and ethnic affiliations so that they can proffer lasting solutions to the country’s economic problems.”

One of the aspirants in last weekend’s Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries Chief Olusola Oke, yesterday described it as “a sham”.

Oke, who scored 576 votes behind Dr. Olusegun Abraham 635 votes and the winner Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (669) alleged that the delegates’ list which served as the voter register was doctored.

He said he would explore the party’s internal mechanism available to him to seek redress after conducting further probe into the “perversion”.

A statement by the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation (OOCO)yesterday alleged the illicit substitution of the delegates’ list officially given to the aspirants from Abuja less than 12 hours to the primary.

It alleged that persons who were not on the delegates list were allowed to participate in the primary election.

The statement, signed by OOCO’s Director-General Otunba Bola Fisayo, also said the organisation was aware that the delegates list used for the primary was kept away from the aspirants and ‘impregnated’ with over 400 delegates who never emerged from any congress of the party as required by its constitution and guidelines.

I got wind of an invitation from the Police last Thursday asking me to come for an interview with the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department. I thought it was a petition to the police from  Aunty Motunde Fajuyi, of course I have reasons to think in that direction since she has been reporting me here and there alleging that I was behind online attacks against her person. Alas, I was wrong.

It wasn't Aunty Motunde that reported me, it was the Ekiti State APC Publicity Secretary, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who did. He asked the Police to arrest, prosecute and jail me. My offense? That I wrote a letter on 2nd July 2016 in his name to Mrs. Aisha Buhari asking her to prove her innocence in the Harliburton Scandal. The second petition was that I go online turning upside down Mr. President Buhari's picture, the third is that I am a ceaseless attacker of the first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari.

Printed copies of the alleged activities were attached to the petition submitted to the police.

Hon. Olatunbosun didn't stop at that, he told the police that 'Bola Agboola, Debola Akingbade, Gbadura Oluwasola and their cohort' goes about the world maligning other people, especially important personalities whose opinions run contrary to ours. I was asked if I understood the content of the petition and I said I did, I was asked if I would like to react to the petition and I said yes, I reacted in writing. I wrote my side of the story. I was asked to produce someone who will sign my bail form, my boss, Lere Olayinka was on hand to do so. I was granted bail and asked to show up again next Monday.

It's crystal clear the APC, both at federal and state level wants a silent opposition, it's no news that they are intolerant of the opposition. Even when we do not have The Nation, when we don't have Punch, when we don't have Leadership, the only weapon we have, The Social Media, they won't want us to use, that is unacceptable, we can't afford to cave in. Should we not talk when paying #145/litre for petrol is like removing hair from the nostril? Why shouldn't we complain when we have no job on our hands against what Buhari and APC promised us, why shouldn't we complain when we don't have food in our belly and a bag of rice is sold for #18,000 against #8,500 we used to buy when the clueless GEJ was President.

Fayose often say 'when you beat a child, he/she has the right to cry, it is when you don't allow the child cry that you have acted wickedly', Buhari is whipping our ass, don't we have the right to cry? Why not allow us wail peacefully without police harassment and intimidation, this is Ekiti, we don't succumb to intimidation. If APC  thinks taking us out of circulation will help them, trust me it won't work. Freedom of speech I believe is a right and not privilege, I believe Nigerians that are pressed to the wall should speak out. Tyrants don't have their ways for life, it won't start with this administration!

To all who have shown concern through various means of communication, I say Thank You So Much, I must say I am overwhelmed by your support. May God bless you all.

PoliticsDollar Scarcity: Petrol Price Hike Looms, Marketers Say by Purplebirdrep(op): 6:05am On Aug 09, 2016
More Hardship?

Nigerians should prepare for another increase in the pump prices of petrol, due to the continued scarcity of foreign exchange to finance the importation of the product, oil marketers have said.

According to them, the United States dollar hit an all-time high last week, as it exchanged for N400 at the parallel market.

Worried by the development, the marketers say if not urgently addressed, the pump prices of petrol will not remain at the approved rates.

The Federal Government liberalised the downstream sector of the petroleum industry on May 11, 2016, and announced an increase in the pump prices of petrol from N86 and N86.5 per litre to between N135 and N145 per litre.

It also stated that the market was to be driven by the factors of demand and supply, as it was now largely in the hands of private sector players.

But oil marketers told our correspondent on Monday that despite the competition in the business, they were struggling to retain the price of the Premium Motor Spirit within the approved range.

“The truth is that Nigerians just have to brace for higher PMS price; there are no two ways about it. The government cannot fund this market; the money is not just there. Even if the government wishes to assist, it does not have the wherewithal to do. So, Nigerians should brace for higher rates,” an official of one of the notable oil marketing companies, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said.
PoliticsJuly 27, 2016 Press Statement One Year Of Apc's Administration... by Purplebirdrep(op): 6:48pm On Jul 27, 2016

Press Statement

One year of APC's Administration...no project to commission except PDP's Railway.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) for appropriating the Abuja - Kaduna Standard Gauge Rail Line Project which was conceptualized, awarded and constructed by the PDP's administrations.

The Party in a Statement by its Chief Spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 said, the Rail Project was conceptualized by the Obasanjo Administration and successive PDP administrations of President Umaru Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, commenced work and built the Project to 99% completion saying that the only work done by President Muhammadu Buhari on the project was yesterday's Commissioning.

The Party said the usual rhetoric of the APC had always been that the 16 years of PDP's rule were years of waste asking if the Railway Project was also a waste?

"The truth which history will bear out is that the PDP in its 16 years of rule successfully completed numerous projects that substantively changed the infrastructural landscape of Nigeria. Everyone of those 16 years were years of great productivity with remarkable landmark achievements. This is very much unlike the APC which has already wasted one full year without even scratching one square meter of ground anywhere in the Country". Prince Adeyeye said.

The PDP Spokesman concluded that 'if morning truly shows the day, then we can say that Nigeria is now really in the era of waste and stagnation'.

PoliticsStop Harassing My Family.... Tompolo Tells Buhari by Purplebirdrep(op): 8:04pm On Jul 22, 2016
HIGH CHIEF GOVERNMENT EKPEMUPOLO (TOMPOLO)
The Ibe-ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation

Your Excellency,
President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,
Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Rock Villa,
Abuja.
Sir,

The Continuous Harassment of My Family Members and Close Associates by Security Agents and Over Zealous APC Members is Worrisome.

I wish to write your Excellency once again on the continuous harassment and intimidation of my family members and close associates by your security agencies (Nigerian Army, Navy, Department of State Security {DSS}, and the Police) in connivance with one Ayiri Emami and Michael Johnny, both members of your party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest victims of this unwarranted, misdirected and wicked act are Hon. Simeon Bebenimibo, a member of the Delta State Waterway and Land Security Committee and a driver of one of my aides, Mr Ebipade Kari, who was on an errand with a little baby. The baby was thrown away from the vehicle, as the driver was beaten to pulp by your men, as he was asked the whereabouts of his boss. That was not all, the military men stormed the house of one of my younger brothers, and harassed his pregnant wife with guns pointed at her. This has led to complications because of the closeness to her full time of delivery. The duo who were arrested are presently in the custody of the Nigerian Army, Effurun. Before this incident, the Navy went to the apartment of another of my aide, and picked up his heavily pregnant wife as he was out of town, and kept her for 24 hours in the Navy base before releasing her. The mode of operation is that the military command usually decorates associates of Ayiri Emami and Michael Johnny with military uniforms and they go from door to door with a long list of names and addresses of my family members and associates with the intention of arresting them.
Your Excellency sir, it could be recalled that this was how the military went to Oporoza town on Saturday May 28, 2016, at about 2am, and held the community to hostage for one week. During that midnight invasion, the military catered away valuables worth several millions of naira, desecrated worship centres and took away the symbol of authority of the Gbaramatu people from the Egbesu shrine, as well as picked up 10 innocent students and palace staff, most of whom are orphans, preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Up till now, their whereabouts is unknown. That same day, the military went to Kurutie Town in search of my 84 years old father and brutalized him. We managed to rescue him to Warri and hospitalised him. Sadly, one of his lower limbs wasamputated two weeks ago. From the doctors report, it will be a thing of miracle if he survives this incident. Is this 84 years old man also a member of the Niger Delta Avengers, that he was brutalised to the point of death? Will your excellency accept this in good faith if this was done to your father or someone of this age in your family? I have not heard of anyone that was treated like this even in the volatile North Eastern part of the country. I have said it in many occasions that the issue I am having with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will not lead to violence or resort to destruction of pipelines and other oil facilities, because I have a good case.
Your Excellency sir, I have been wondering since the beginning of my travails at your instance, and I wish to ask whether, is this part of the fight against corruption in Nigeria? Or was it because I supported my kinsman, former president Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections? I thought everyone in Nigeria has the liberty to support whoever he or she deemed fit in an election. And as Dr Jonathan bravely accepted the outcome of the election, which brought you in as president of Nigeria today, I thought you will heal wounds as the father of the Nation. And it was on this premise that I visited you immediately after your swear-in ceremony to pledge my loyalty and readiness to work with your administration. I am yet to be told the reason for all these shenanigans exhibited by your security agencies and party members (Ayiri Emami and Michael Johnny). I really want to know whether this marcaba dance is being declared by you or is it out of their own volition to perpetuate this high level of hatred on my person and close associates? It has really gotten to a worrisome dimension as the situation is getting deteriorated by the day.

Your Excellency sir, I only contributed to the development of the Nigerian Maritime University. I only agreed to sell my property, Mieka International Diving School structures (19 gigantic buildings of various sizes on 12 hectares of reclaimed land) for the quick and flawless take off of the University. And it all went through due process. I never knew my goodwill and patriotism will lead me to where I am now. I have this burning desire to attract developmental strides to this difficult terrain, as it is the only thing for the people of the Niger Delta, particularly the coastal areas, to continue to have faith in Nigeria as the area has been neglected for so long a time. Your Excellency sir, it is instructive to state that you need me to drive this your change agenda in the Niger Delta region as I am ever passionate to improve the living condition of the people of the region.
The truth of the matter is that I have been treated unfairly by you sir. After all these hallubalo about the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, in which I was accused of some wrong doing, you are yet to send emissaries to Okerenkoko (permanent site) and Kurutie( temporary site) of the University to ascertain the level of things on ground. Your Excellency sir, you are being respected today because of your integrity and sincerity of purpose, therefore you need to consciously investigate the issues surrounding the establishment of the University. If you can send some of your trusted men to visit the sites of the University and request for documents from the Federal Ministries of Transportation and Land and Survey, then you would have succeeded in unravelling the truth behind this University controversy.

Your Excellency would have investigated this issue of whether 13b naira was used to purchase a land for the Maritime University since assumption of office, owing to the fact that the entire country is your constituency. As it stand now, you are not abreast with things happening in this part of the country, perhaps you are only abreast with crude oil exploration activities in the Niger Delta region. I do not need to remind your excellency that, the primary duty of any government is to seek after the welfare and security of the citizenry. Unfortunately the people of the Niger Delta region, particularly the coastal people are relegated to the background despite the huge revenue contribution from the area to the coffers of the country.

Mr President sir, I have written you several open letters. I have stated my position clearly each time I write you. This may be my last open letter to you. I believe the truth will come to stay one day. You need to do the right thing by uniting the entire country. Be wary of bogus informants. Always try as much as possible to hear every side of issues that are brought before you. By this, you will always know those sincerely love you.

Thanks and God bless!
Sincerely Yours

Fayose’s ally, Agbele files N500m suit against EFCC

One of the bank tellers used in paying money into Fayose's account by his best friend, Abiodun Agbele.
Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Apo, Abuja, will on Friday hear a N500m suit filed by an ally of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, Abiodun Agbele‎, seeking an order releasing him from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

‎Agbele was reportedly arrested on June 27 for his role in the handling of over N1.219bn on behalf of Fayose during the Ekiti State governorship election in 2014.

The money was said to have been part of the N4.7bn that was siphoned from the Office of the National Security Adviser and deposited into the bank account of a company belonging to the sons of a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.

In his suit filed on his behalf by his lawyers – Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and Olalekan Ojo – Agbele urged the court to declare his arrest and detention unlawful and award N500m as compensatory damages against the EFCC for his unlawful arrest and detention.

Agbele argued, in the fundamental rights enforcement suit, that his arrest and continued detention beyond the 48 hours allowed by the Constitution, amounted to violation of his rights to freedom of liberty, human dignity and the right to acquire and own properties.
He said unless and except the court comes to his rescue, the EFCC will continue to infringe on his rights to freedom of liberty.
