Politics / EKITI | Nigerians Did Not Elect You To Function As “friday President”, Fayose by Purplebirdrep: 11:38pm On Apr 23, 2017
EKITI | Nigerians did not elect you to function as “Friday President”, Fayose tells Buhari

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that Nigerians did not elect General Muhammadu Buhari to function as “Friday President”, adding that he (Buhari) was now acting more like a ceremonial and part-time President.

The governor, who said he was glad that his constructive criticism was getting to the President and his handlers, noted that it was not enough for the President of a country like Nigeria to be seen in public only while attending Friday Jumat service at the Presidential Villa, videos of his activities should be made public too.

Speaking on Sunday, through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said it was necessary for Nigerians to be properly informed about the well-being of their president.
He accused some close allies of the President of deliberately shielding him and preventing him from attending to his health so as to continue to run the government on the basis of “Mr President has directed” even when the President did not direct anything.

“That’s why Nigerians are told every day that the President said this and that with the President neither speaking directly nor attending any official function. This is not good for the image of a country like Nigeria that is struggling to get out of economic recession,” the governor said.

Governor Fayose, who said by virtue of the his old age, the President could be susceptible to illness, advised that “President Buhari should rather be allowed to take proper care of his health while the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo acts constitutionally as the president.

“However, it is doubtful if those cabals that are obviously running their own Presidency within President Buhari’s Presidency will allow him to take a long vacation, probably outside Nigeria to take care of himself.”

The governor insisted that Nigerians must hear the voice of their President and see him physically, not through surrogates or the cabal operating behind the scene.

“It is only when the President is seen and heard physically that Nigerians will believe that they are not being ruled by a part-time and ceremonial president, whose powers are being exercised on his behalf by some cabal,” he said.
Politics / Senator Ojudu’s Loyalists Threaten To Leave APC Over Lopsided Federal Appointmen by Purplebirdrep: 11:26pm On Apr 23, 2017
Senator Ojudu’s loyalists threaten to leave APC over lopsided federal appointments

Loyalists of the Special Adviser on Political Matters in the office of the Vice President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State are said to be angry over the way and manner all federal appointments so far given to the State were cornered by members of the party that are loyal to the Minister of Mines and Steel Development and former governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Ojudu’s loyalists are now threatening to leave the APC if the trend is allowed to continue and they are said to have made their position known in a meeting they held with the Presidential aide a few days ago.

Multiple sources said Ojudu, himself was only keeping faith, hoping that something happened at the Presidency that will change the power equation and dislodge Fayemi from the Federal Executive Council.

Ojudu loyalists were said to have been miffed by the recent appointments made by the President in the last three weeks, which went to loyalists of Fayemi, and they are afraid that even Ojudu’s governorship ambition will be a waste of time under the present political arrangement that has Fayemi in total control.

Fayemi’s Deputy, Prof Modupe Adelabu was appointed Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) while his former Commissioner, Dr Eniola Ajayi was appointed ambassador.

“Last week, another loyalist of Fayemi, Prof Eddy Olanipekun was appointed Chairman, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe; Bayelsa State.

“It is as if we are not in this party and we cannot continue to pretend. Why is it that only those who enjoyed government in Ekiti State under Fayemi as either Deputy Governor or commissioner are being rewarded again?

“Is it that there are no other people in the party? Is Ekiti APC only about those who served under Fayemi when he was governor?

“We have made our position known to our leader, if Fayemi’s loyalists are the only ones suitable for federal appointments, they should be ready to run the APC alone too and face elections alone,” source quoted one of the aggrieved loyalists of Senator Ojudu to have said after the meeting.

When probed further, the source further revealed that Ojudu blamed Fayemi’s penchant for grabbing everything to himself for the misfortune of the APC in the State.

“Oga (Ojudu) is not happy too. He believes that everything is being grabbed by Fayemi’s group and he understands that politics is about patronage. He just does not have a choice at the moment because the way the party is structured in Ekiti at present, no one can be anything, even councillorship candidate without the blessing of Fayemi.

“The governorship ticket of the APC in Ekiti State is as good as being kept in Fayemi’s pocket unless the power equation in Abuja changes. But he (Ojudu) has assured us that things will change very soon and by then, Fayemi will have been sent back to Ghana,” another of the aggrieved APC members was quoted to have said.

Sick Buhari Declared ‘Missing’, Cannot Be Found In Aso Rock, As APC Cabals Hold Secret Meetings – Whistle Blower

By Post-Nigeria April 21, 2017

The controversial Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as well as millions of other well-meaning Nigerians, have questioned the whereabouts of President Muhammadu Buhari, and wondered why he has persistently been absent from state functions.

The Governor, who demanded for a physical appearance of Buhari, further wondered if he is now ruling Nigeria by proxy.

Fayose’s inquiry of Buhari’s whereabouts, is coming following the cancellation of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, and the conspicuous absence of Mr President at the FEC meeting, a week ago.

He said this in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, on Thursday.
Custom Text

“Everyday, what we hear is President said this, President said that, without seeing the President in any official function, and one is prompted to ask; where is the President?”

He continued: “I saw the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal, on television, responding to his suspension, and what came to my mind, was that there could actually be many Presidents operating in the Buhari Presidency.

“Perhaps, it is for this reason of possible existence of governments within the government of Buhari, that confusion pervades the polity, with the President himself writing letter to the Senate, to clear someone of wrongdoing and the same person being suspended three months after, on the basis of the same allegation. It is also for this reason that the President nominated Ibrahim Magu to the Senate for confirmation as EFCC Chairman, and the DSS, an agency under the Presidency, wrote the Senate not to confirm him.

“Most importantly, the President did not attend the FEC meeting last week, and the meeting did not hold this week, under the flimsy excuse that Easter Break stalled it. How could Easter Break that ended on Monday, be responsible for the inability to hold FEC meeting on Wednesday? Definitely, there is more to this than meet the eye.

“It has therefore become necessary, that Nigerians hear the voice of their President, and see him physically, not through surrogates, or the cabals operating behind the scene.”

Buhari chronically ill – Perry Brimah

April 21, 2017 0

Popular columnist and convener of Every Nigerian Do Something, Perry Brimah, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is “chronically ill” and in need of urgent rest.

Brimah, in a statement on Friday, alleged that the President was being kept locked up in Aso Rock by some “selfish cabal” instead of receiving best therapy.

The columnist flayed Nigerians for their uncompassionate reaction to Buhari’s health status despite seeing his “asthenic figure now no more than skin-and-bones as he sat down for the Jummah service” with Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai last Friday.

He wrote, “There can be no denying how chronically ill president Muhammadu Buhari looks when he seldom does appear in public. The last time was last week Friday when Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai came visiting.

“The videos of Buhari walking for Friday prayers bring tears to eyes. His asthenic figure now no more than skin-and-bones as he sat down for the Jummah service was heart-wrenching.

“How can a people be so cold they expose a grandfather to this type of extreme stress and deprive him from his needed rest and medical expert attention by tasking him to lead the world’s most complex nation?

“Have we as a people lost our humanity that we continue to task Buhari like this and not campaign for him to be relieved of our burden and rest towards recovery?

“It is insane to continue to deprive him and the nation by locking him up and burdening him with a challenge too heavy for even a strong young man to bear talk-less an old man who just returned from a 49-day leave in which he received blood transfusions and unknown cocktails of serious medications.

“For those of us in the medical profession, we recognise the president’s loss of hair on his head and facial hair as well as his reported blood transfusions as possible evidence of cancer chemotherapy.

“God forbid, however, if this is the condition the president is being managed for that the cabal is hiding from the people, the wickedness of the selfish cabal that forces him to remain locked up, “dying” in Aso Rock instead of receiving best therapy, should be vehemently opposed by us masses.

“Whoever is found guilty of hiding any serious diagnosis the president may have and bundling him back to deteriorate in Aso Rock under pressure of Nigeria’s humongous burden should be dealt with according to the full extent of the law. This is not only criminal but sinful.

“A great fear is, what if (God forbid) president Buhari should collapse? This time he may not yet have handed over to Vice president Yemi Osinbajo as “acting president” and Nigeria may be thrown into the chaos that perhaps some desperate politicians eyeing the presidency seat are secretly plotting for. Nigeria cannot afford to be thrown into such state of dilemma and disarray.

“It’s time for Nigerians to demand full disclosure of the true state of health of president Muhammadu Buhari and immediate best options for him to be allowed to rest and recover instead of being locked up to literally die under the weight of Nigeria”.

Cabal exercising powers of President Buhari – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has questioned President Muhammadu Buhari’s persistent absence from state functions, especially the weekly Federal Executive Council meetings.

The governor, in a press release issued in Ado Ekiti on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, asked if the president was now governing the country by proxy.

According to him, it is becoming obvious that a group of cabal is exercising the powers of the President.

He said, “Every day, what we hear is president said this, president said that without seeing the president in any official function and one is prompted to ask; where is the president?”

Politics / Babachir, Oke Should Have Been Arrested – PDP by Purplebirdrep: 8:46pm On Apr 20, 2017
Babachir, Oke should have been arrested – PDP

THE Senator Ahmed Markafi-led Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has faulted the suspension of the embattled Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ayo Oke, insisting that the duo should have been arrested.

The party, however, described the suspension as an attempt to dress up a “failed anti-corruption war” saying that
the APC-led federal government has suddenly realised the corruption allegation levelled against the SGF; and instead of arresting and detaining him as the government has been doing to PDP members and other Nigerians, he was rather suspended and a committee set-up to investigate him. This is to say the least, double standard.

In a statement by spokesman of the faction, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party frowned at the President’s decision to suspend the duo.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawal and Suspended Nigeria Intelligent Agency NIA Ayo Oke
The statement reads: “We are alarmed at the suspension of the SGF at a time that Nigerians and the international community are excitedly enjoying the theatre of the absurd playing out with the recovery of huge sums of money without owners.”

“Now the APC-led federal government suddenly realised the corruption allegation levelled against the SGF; and instead of arresting and detaining him as the government has been doing to PDP members and other Nigerians, he was rather suspended and a committee set-up to investigate him. This is to say the least, double standard.

“Some Nigerians have applauded the suspension as indicating a new commitment by President Buhari to fight the anti-corruption war without fear or favour but we are constrained to point out that it is another ruse to deceive Nigerians and dress up the failed anti-corruption war in a new garb.”

“We are at a loss why the president would set up a panel comprising members of his cabinet to investigate other senior very powerful members of the same executive,” he said.

“Where is the transparency in that? Not that we doubt the integrity of the vice-president (for whom we have the utmost respect) and other panellists but it appears the matter is being settled within the government closet without the transparency, independence and impartiality necessary in a situation like this. Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to have been done.

“This is especially important given the fact that we recently travelled this road when the president asked the attorney-general to investigate the SGF (on this same matter) and Magu, the acting chairman of the EFCC. That investigation cleared the SGF of all wrong doings in the grass cutting scandal as stated above.

“It is amazing that the president who swiftly accepted the recommendations of the attorney-general would now suddenly set-up another panel comprising the same attorney-general to investigate the matter again.

“The pertinent question is whether the president has now realised that the initial investigation by the attorney-general was not thorough or a cover-up to protect a fellow cabinet member.

“Against this backdrop, we are constrained to express our lack of confidence in the new panel headed by the vice president.

“Instead, we demand an independent commission of inquiry comprising eminent Nigerians of proven records of integrity, independence and competence.

“This is the only way by which we can have confidence that a thorough and impartial investigation will be conducted and by which the president also can reassure the general public that there are no sacred cows in his government for whom there are different set of rules. The present situation amounts to the government being the judge in its own cause. We do not believe that justice can be served that way.”

Politics / Damage Control: SGF, NIA Chief’s Suspension An Afterthought – Fayose by Purplebirdrep: 7:11pm On Apr 19, 2017
Damage control:
SGF, NIA chief’s suspension an afterthought – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has described the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal and Director General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, as an “afterthought and a prelude to the official cover-up of the N13 billion cash found in a residential apartment in Lagos.

Fayose slammed the Federal Government for setting up a three-man committee to investigate the crime and sidelining the anti-corruption agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Department of State Services (DSS).

The governor wondered why the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Administration unleashed EFCC and DSS on opposition figures and judges under investigation while setting up a committee to investigate its officials accused of corruption.

Accusing the Buhari government of becoming an embarrassment to Nigerians with what he called the macabre dance of shame, Fayose alleged that the President is fast losing control of his administration, accusing it of hypocrisy in its fight against corruption.

He wondered why the same President that wrote a letter to the Senate exonerating Lawal and clearing him of any wrongdoing now came back to suspend him from office over alleged involvement in the Presidential Initiative for the North East grass cutting scam.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Communication, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said: “Would the President have set up a probe panel if these scams were linked to anyone in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or those members of his party that are not in his good books?

“Most importantly, what business does Presidential Committee have with investigation of crime? Are they telling Nigerians that they have lost confidence in all the intelligence and investigative agencies of the government, including the EFCC and DSS?

“The Buhari-led Federal Government is operating like many governments within one government. There appears to be many Presidencies within the Presidency and this is the reason for the confusion everywhere.”

“Nigerians can no longer be deceived by a government that protects its own people whenever they are accused of corruption while setting the DSS and EFCC to invade houses of members of opposition parties, especially those perceived as having presidential ambition in 2019 in the night to arrest and detain them indefinitely even when corruption allegations against them have not been proved.”

“Did the President not write a letter dated January 17, 2017, to the Senate, exonerating the SGF? So what has changed in the case of the SGF? Was his announced suspension just for balancing?

“Why waiting for this messy OsborneGate to act on the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) grass-cutting scam? Could it have been a case of one Presidency (Buhari) writing the Senate on January 17, 2017 to clear the SGF and another Presidency suspending him today?

“Whichever way one looks at it, it gives no other impression than that of confusion in the government.”

“Is their presidential committee also going to tell Nigerians those who abandoned N49 million cash in an airport that has CCTV cameras? What the owner of the N448 million the EFCC said it found in a shop at LEGICO Shopping Plaza, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos?

“In all these, what I see is a government trying frantically to cover-up corrupt acts of its functionaries but like I said before now, even though we know that the APC-led federal government has the capacity to sweep it under the carpet like many others before it, Nigerians will have it on record that they are being ruled by a government of the more you look, the less you see.”

#Even OBJ knows SALAMIGATE - The wuruwuru judgement that made Fayemi governor...

Hear Obasanjo speaking today.

Obasanjo said, “I was reading today when the President (Muhammadu Buhari) said the EFCC should stop losing cases. They lose cases for a number of reasons.

“One, they engage more of outside lawyers. I believe that they need staunch, `Ogbologbo'(seasoned) lawyers inside that will do the work.

“If I am a lawyer and I want the opponent to win a case, what I will file will be `wishy washy. And if I file a `wishy washy’ case, the opponent will see the loophole and he will get out of it. I believe that it is important.

“Secondly, thorough investigation is very important. Now, investigation must be thorough, it must be proper and it must be really taken seriously.

"...Our judges must be committed in fighting corruption.

“They must be committed to fighting corruption. Because if the investigation is very sound and you have `ogbologbo’ lawyer to handle the case, if you have SALAMIGATE, you know what the answer will be.

“So it is a chain: investigation, prosecution and the judiciary. If there is weakness along this line, chances are that corruption cases will continue to be lost, “he said.

If you don't know what is called SALAMIGATE, let me tell you.

SalamiGate is Justice Isa Ayo Salami  judicial magomago  judgement of the Appeal Court, Ilorin that made Dr Kayode Fayemi governor of Ekiti State.

Fayemi never won the 2009 rerun governorship election. Rather, he was awarded victory by Justice Salami after cancelling votes in 6 wards where PDP candidate, Engr Segun Oni won.

Records of telephone calls and sms between Justice Salami and APC chieftains like Lai Mohammed were later made public vis Justice Salami's roles in the Sokoto State election case, leading to his (Salami) suspension by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

Today in Abeokuta, Obasanjo brought back the memory of SALAMIGATE and I hope Fayemi can defend this by taking OBJ up on what he meant by Salamigate.

If you live in glass house, don't throw stones.

Call your boys to order, Fayose urges Buhari

Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has made a passionate appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene forcefully to restrain Presidency officials and other appointees endangering our democracy and making a mockery of the nation.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor decried the incessant acts of impunity by Presidency officials, which he said have become alarming, and the pettiness that attend serious matters of state, which he said has become ludicrous.

“Governance has been reduced to a theatre of the absurd. These appointees of yours are needlessly and embarrassingly flexing muscles and are heating up the polity; they appear to be having fun and regaling themselves at the expense of the nation. The economy has collapsed and the people are suffering. There is hunger and anger never before witnessed in the land.

“Yet, Presidential appointees are preoccupied with trivialities and inanities. Wearing of uniform has suddenly become a Supreme Court matter. Why a man who will not wear uniform went to take a uniformed job beggars belief. How someone who has so little respect and scanty regard for an organisation like the Nigeria Customs Service should be made to head the same organisation must baffle right-thinking Nigerians.

“In other societies where people have a sense of decency and decorum, people with such irreconcilable differences would honourably resign their position.

“And where a government finds itself unable to effectively govern, as we appear to have here on our hands, it behoves the head of that government to do the needful.

“Mr. President, let it not be said that you have lost grip of your government. Nigerians are beginning to believe, as a statement of fact, your wife’s allegation that a cabal has taken over your government. Your defence that your wife belongs to “the other room” now rings hollow in the ears of Nigerians.

“The saying is that he who appoints can also disappoint. Your appointees are your creation and it is an aberration when they become greater and more powerful than you. Mr. President, the tail is wagging the dog right now. You must take effective and firm action to reverse this ugly and unwholesome trend.

“I am also the head of a government and I know how it works. The ‘consortium of presidents’ around you, as Nigerians now derisively refer to those ‘powerful’ and larger-than-life appointees of yours who take delight in riding roughshod over the polity and desecrating the hallowed chambers of justice, must be cut to size. If you need help, Nigerians are ready to queue behind you on this issue to put an end to your appointees’ shenanigans.

“Mr. President, I, Ayo Fayose, volunteer to help you in this regard. As a state governor, I cannot brook a tenth of what you are taking from your appointees. None of my appointees can disrespect and disparage the Ekiti State House of Assembly like your appointees are doing to the National Assembly.

“Did you listen to what a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic said this week on the floor of the red chamber; that for the 59 days that you were away on medical leave in London, your appointees were gentle and behaved themselves and there were no killings in any part of the country by rampaging herdsmen; but now you are back and the troubles are back with us again? We all prayed for your quick recovery and swift return to office. Must we now regret doing so?

Fayose then warned the President to note that Nigerians are discerning and the wool cannot be pulled over their eyes any longer. Their patience, he added, is fast running out.

‎Legacy projects: Fashola gives Fayose pass mark

‎The Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Thursday gave kudos to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, over the execution of some legacy projects such as the flyover in Ado-Ekiti and the dualisation of the Ado-Ikere Road among others.

The minister, who was taken  round some of the projects by the governor, said though the projects were on federal roads, they were the type of collaboration the Federal Government expected from state government.

Fashola stated this while fielding questions from newsmen at the end of his working visit to Ekiti State.

"We saw all the projects being executed by the state government, this is the kind of collaboration that the Federal Government welcomes. What is important is how much service ‎we deliver to the people we are to serve. Of course roads are shared among the tiers of government, but what is important is the service to the people.

"In the area of housing, the state ought to lead, but there is nothing wrong with the Federal Government coming to support. It will create job opportunities for different categories of people and it will boost the local economy too," he said.

Asked when the Federal Government would reimburse the state for the projects, Fashola stated that there was a due process to follow‎.

Earlier, during a courtesy call on Fayose, ‎the governor expressed confidence in the commitment made by the Federal Government to fix some of the roads linking Ekiti to other states.

Fayose also commended the minister for taking time to travel by road in order to assess the roads.
He noted that if such decisive steps had been taken earlier enough, there would have been more infrastructural development in the state.

He called on the minister to ensure the roads were fixed as promised and speedily too, as he also solicited for repayment of costs incurred on federal roads by the state government.

The governor promised to channel whatever funds recovered from the Federal Government to roads in other communities of the state.

Earlier, the minister said engineering designs had been completed on the Ado-Igede-Aramoko-Itawure and Ado-Akure roads and contractors are expected to move to sites as soon as the 2017 budget is passed.
He said the Buhari administration was ready to help the state, noting that 'the Federal Government was committed to redeeming the expenses incurred by state governments on federal roads'.

He commended the state government for being proactive in fixing some of the roads.

Fashola's comment on Fayose's legacy projects came on the heels of a similar view expressed by the Special Adviser to the Vice President on Policy, Mrs Yosola Akinbi, who also visited the state on Wednesday and who inspected some of the projects too.

Akinbi also lauded Fayose for embarking on those developmental projects.

Politics / Nnamani Must Quit As Electoral Reform Committee Chairman - Fayose by Purplebirdrep: 4:23pm On Mar 22, 2017
Nnamani must quit as Electoral Reform Committee Chairman - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called for the immediate resignation of former Senate President, Ken Nnamani as chairman of the Electoral Reform Committee and allow a non-partisan person to take over, saying “if the federal government is serious about electoral reform, Senator Nnamani, a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won’t head the Electoral Reform Committee.”

The governor, who also said there was nothing wrong with the country’s electoral system, said; “It was the same electoral system that produced the present APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari, in an election adjudged as relatively free, fair and credible. So what happened to the system after May 29, 2015 that this present government took over? How did we get to this level of inconclusive and questionable elections in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies appear to have become part of the ruling party?”

In his presentation at the public hearing on constitution and electoral reform held at Ogun State Cultural Centre, Abeokuta today, Governor Fayose said; “Even when it inherited a working system that conducted elections adjudged as free and fair by local and international communities, INEC has failed consistently to replicate the inherited working system due to overzealousness and rabid passion to work as appendage of the federal government.

“Imagine an election that is ongoing, only for INEC to postpone counting of votes by midnight, with the party agents driven away. Any result announced in the morning has lost any credibility and legitimacy and cannot represent the will of the people.”

The governor, who was represented by the Chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Dr Samuel Omotoso pointed out that “The only time this country made an attempt at a reliable electoral reform was during the tenure of President Umaru Yar’Adua who appointed retired Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Uwais as the chairman. This singular move gave the panel credibility, widespread acceptability and massive supports from all over the country and across political divides.

“Such cannot be said of this panel that is overshadowed with massive moral burdens and conflict of interest as a result of the chairman being a card carrying member of a political party called APC.”

He said; “Senator (Dr) Ken Nnamani, being the South-East regional leader of APC is incapable of rising above primordial and party sentiments to give Nigerians anything different from electoral inconclusiveness that we have at the moment.

“Any reform from such encapsulation can as well be said to be dead on arrival.”

Speaking further, Governor Fayose described INEC under the present APC government as the champion of electoral malpractices, saying “INEC and security agencies need to purge themselves of all these putrid behaviours and face the reality of modern day democracy.

“As Governor of Ekiti State, I have no reservation about reviewing and reforming our electoral process but I am reluctant about the sincerity of purpose deploy each time we display such political hallucinations under the guise of reforms, this has amounted severally to playing to the gallery and this committee just like others that have embarked on several wild goose chases in the past is not likely to be different.

“When those who are to supervise an election take over the process and turn themselves to interested parties rather than rise above board, then we breed nothing other than chaos, pandemonium, mayhem, confusion and disorganisation of the whole process.

“We all know those who commit crimes during the elections but this same people are protected using the police, who is supposed to ensure orderliness and legal consequences for electoral infractions. The police would rather arrest and prosecute the victims of electoral malpractices and violence while releasing the actual aggressors due to the relationship of these offenders to the government in power.

“The penchant for disorder by the umpire has got to a state of obsessive compulsive disorder, in the sense that rather than ensure sincerity of purpose within the system, what we have is deceit, flippancy and double standards.

“Therefore, there is no gainsaying that this electoral review body is not needed until the panel is equitable, non-partisan and devoid of influence from the powers that be. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands.”

NULGE President Lauds Fayose on Capital Projects

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has again been commended for the ongoing developmental projects across the state in spite of the economic recession in the Country.

National President of the National Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Com Ibraheem Kaleel gave the commendation while addressing Press shortly after being conducted round some of the projects.

Kaleel noted that he was highly impressed with the level of performance of the governor in the face of the economc recession, saying it takes a committed leader to achieve the feats.

The NULGE President particularly expressed satisfaction with the ultra modern market meant for people who need to make daily income, the fly-over, and the high court building.

He therefore called on members of his Union to key into the Government's developmental projects and also support policies meant to help the masses.

He described Fayose as a fellow Comrade as he remains a leading voice for the voiceless and the less privileged in the Country.

Politics / Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose On Sunday Night Announced His Government’s Inte by Purplebirdrep: 10:41pm On Mar 19, 2017
Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose on Sunday night announced his government’s interest in the case of a woman beaten by some policemen in Ado Ekiti on Friday.
.
The state governor, Mr Ayo Fayose made this known while speaking on a monthly public enlightenment programme, “The Governor Explains”.
Ayodele Fayose
He disclosed that an investigation panel has been set up to probe what actually transpired between the woman and the police.
He said the investigation will unravel the policemen that beat the woman.
.
The governor said he was particularly disturbed by media reports linking policemen to the alleged beating of the woman, Toyin Adeyeye, despite her status as a nursing mother.
.
He described as regrettable, the police action, coming barely two weeks after the state celebrated Women’s Day with fanfare.

The governor declared that the law on violence against women still subsists in the state, and that the law would be applied as appropriate in this matter.
.
Mr Abdullahi Chafe, the state police commissioner had said the woman was beaten by policemen at a checkpoint in Ado Ekiti because she slapped one of his men and tore his uniform. He claimed the woman slapped one of his men when she was asked to prove the ownership of the car in which she was being driven.
.
Chafe spoke in a reaction to the social media outrage against the policemen for brutalising a woman.
.
After the beating, Adeyeye and her baby, including her younger brother, Adeniyi Dada were detained at a police station in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital. The Kia Picanto that Dada was driving was also impounded.
.
“It is not good for somebody to prevent a law enforcement officer from carrying out his lawful duty, somebody wearing the uniform? It is not about his age but the authority he carries, I don’t allow my men to do something contrary to the law”, Chafe said.

“Those people slapped my policeman on duty and tore his uniform. Uniform is an authority and what those people did was against the law and it is not good for a civilian to slap a policeman

“I don’t want a woman to be detained with baby or with pregnancy,
.
I don’t want an old woman or a minor to be detained. I have taken note of this and we will take the right action on the matter as investigation continues”, he said.
The husband of the woman, Mr Akanni Adeyeye refuted the police claim, saying his wife and her brother were beaten and detained for refusing to offer bribe to the policemen at the checkpoint.
.
He told newsmen that about five policemen on duty at the checkpoint beat them before taking them to the New Iyin Police Station where they were detained.
.
He said the police also impounded the black Kia Picanto car with registration number LAGOS FKJ 221 EE conveying them.

The woman and her daughter were released by the police on Saturday night.

Politics / Ekiti Meet Your Governor March 2017 by Purplebirdrep: 8:11pm On Mar 19, 2017
MEET YOUR GOVERNOR FAYOSE SPEAKS

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: I greet my people at home, Thank You.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: I want to appreciate Ekiti people, I want to appreciate Ekiti women for coming out to be celebrated on this year's occasion of the 2017 World Women's Day Celebration.

On the nursing mother, Mrs Toyin Adeyeye that was assaulted by Policemen from New Iyin Road, Ado Ekiti on Friday, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose met with the woman and the Commissioner of Police a few minutes ago.

The governor upon being told of the assault, invited the woman and her husband to the govt house.

Governor Fayose, who frown at the assault directed that full investigation must be carried out and whoever that is found culpable must be punished accordingly.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: May that of the 2017 never be the last, I thank the Kabiyesis, I thank all and sundry. We had 25000 cloths but those who paid for the ankara was well over 100,000 and I have directed that monies be refunded to those who couldn't get the cloth. God willing, I will fulfil all the promises made.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: I thank you all for my support, there is no way I can thank you enough.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Concerning the woman that was assaulted, I have directed the commissioner of police to commence full investigation of the matter, everyone involved in that act must have their day in court, our law does not give room for assault on women. I won't allow that, never!

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: A school in Ekiti came first in an exam conducted in Abuja, I will shed more light on that later.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: To th police, don't use your position to oppress Ekiti people, I will not accept that.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: The Local Government is an administration on its own, it's in charge of the primary school and local government workers, they have a reasonable level of autonomy.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: During Xmas, I paid 2 salaries, LG allocation has dwindled such that one allocation can't meet up with a month's salary. In January, the LG and its steering committee approved payment for basic, they now had to look for a way to pay for deductions they couldn't pay before.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: #1.65b was what accrued to Ekiti as allocation. I called the Chairmen to see what we can do about the money, NULGE wants to be paid, the council chairmen wants to be paid too. I compelled the Chairmen to make sacrifice, they agreed. Then the NULGE Vice Chairman came and said compulsorily, NULGE must get two deductions.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: The NULGE Vice Chairman become so rude and I told him to leave, I told him being a NULGE VC doesn't mean he should be that rude. The following morning, another member of NULGE said my action will boomerang. They went ahead to send texts to female NULGE members not to attend the women's day celebration.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: He went to the press to say I was going to divert #1.2b and I ask, to where?

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: He went further to the court and they brought me a court summon.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: On Paris Club refund, last time we got # 8.8b, LG government got #3.4b while the state got #5.4b. We are transparent and we won't have anything to hide when the next Paris Club refund comes.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: On my actions on filling stations, I was elected to protect the lives of my people, the number of these people constituting filling stations indiscriminately is nothing compared to the number of Ekiti residents. We have to choose between the security of people's life and those trying to make money.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: I will never allow anyone burn us to ashes in Ekiti, most of these filling stations had no insurance. A good leader looks after the welfare of his people and not the next election. Ekiti must stand behind me to fight this people who want to burn Ekiti. They said they want to go on strike, they are on their own. Siting filling stations indiscriminately is unacceptable and it stands like that.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: The law is applicable to both petrol and gas stations, there will be no approval without my signature.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Let's go to Okeyinmi, someone is constructing a filling station there, the owner has come to meet with me, we'll make the place a public car park, the ministry of land should perfect papers on that from Monday.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Ekiti people should stand with me on these actions, it's in the public interest.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: I have not locked any bank without court orders, some have been owing us as far back as 1999. The good news is that some of the banks have come and asked that we have a second look into it, we are not begging them, we are asking for what is legitimate. About 5 banks came last week, we'll resolve.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: On Agriculture, we'll commence land clearing which is the most difficult aspect of farming, we are working with FADAMA, we are collaborating with the FG to get some tractors too. We are working to ensure farmlands are not destroyed by cattle rearers.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Response to Phone Calls... I have directed that Ayegunle Road in Ise Orun LG be fixed.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Response to Text Message... Ado LG Chairman should visit the Ado Health Centre.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Response to Phone Calls... Contractors will return to the road dualization site in Ise and Emure LG within the next 4 weeks.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: There will be a Land Lord and Land Owners' Summit soonest, there will be a meeting with Ado Land Lords by 4pm on Tuesday.

#EkitiMeetYourGovernorMarch2017: Once again my people, I thank you all. There is peace because our people on the other side are still in Abuja, as election approaches, when they come during elections, tell them not to destroy this place. Thank you.

Politics / Only Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, 5 Other States Runs Transparent Budgetary System In Ni by Purplebirdrep: 7:17pm On Mar 17, 2017
Only Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, 5 other States Runs Transparent Budgetary System in Nigeria, says BudgIT

An advocacy group, BudgIT, on Thursday said that only eight of the 36 states of the federation made their annual budgets transparent.

The Head of Research in BudgIT, Mr. Atiku Samuel, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that only Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, Bauchi and Kaduna ran transparent budgets.

According to him, the other states are Edo, Kwara and Kogi.

Samuel said that it was wrong for states not to run transparent budgets, noting that not publishing budgets was contrary to the Federal Government’s anti-corruption drive.

“Publishing budget is part of the 22 conditions given to state governments to access the bailout package.

“A requirement given by the Federal Government for accessing the package is that states should publish their budget documents and budget implementation reports online.

“Lack of publishing budgets by state governments should be frowned at because they leave the citizens with a deficit of information,’’ he said.

The official added that the lack of information was unhelpful to the citizenry and constituted a challenge to BudgIT which, he said, needed the budgets for planning.

According to Samuel, published annual budgets should contain adequate information to enable citizens to understand them.

Samuel told NAN that BudgIT which focuses on creating demand for government information, driving accountability and transparency, needed to draw attention to the inadequacy.

He also claimed that there was disconnect between what governments through their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) presented as budgets and what citizens actually wanted.

The official attributed this to lack of participatory budgeting.

He said that the citizens were not being involved in budget formulation process, adding that there was also little feedback from them.

“The beauty of democracy is meeting the needs of people.

“Having researched on budgets from 2009 till date, we found that people are usually unaware of what their elected representatives are doing.

“In cases where the citizens are aware of the projects going on in their constituencies, they tell you that these projects differ from their actual need,’’ Samuel stressed.

Fayose Enacts Law Protecting Women’s Rights In Ekiti

As the celebration of the International Women’s Day continues across the globe, the Ekiti State Government has chosen to mark the day in a different way.

The State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday said he has enacted a law prescribing a life sentence for any man guilty of battering a woman.

The announcement was made at a rally in Ado Ekiti, where he disclosed the approval of 500 million Naira for women empowerment in Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria.

“Very irresponsible men beat their wives; this is part of what women must say no to.

“I have enacted a law, if you rape an Ekiti woman you will go in for live imprisonment,” the Governor said.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to support the welfare of women in the state, acknowledging the various roles they play in the society.

Wife of the Governor, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, believes women should not be neglected and asked them to take advantage of the state’s economic plan.

“Women should be identified and appreciated by their strengths, abilities and efforts to move the nation forward.

“I urge Ekiti women to lets us come together like never before to emphasis, ensure and realise the objective of women empowerment,” she said.

Human rights activists at the gathering also challenged the women to be bold, especially in the restructuring process of the country.

The 2017 International Women’s Day celebration, ‘Be Bold for Change’, is aimed at encouraging women across the world to believe in themselves.

Lai Mohammed can never stop lying

Can Lai Mohammed and Nasir El-Rufai now bury their heads in shame as the British Government has debunked the lie that Goodluck Jonathan rejected their offer to rescue Chibok Girls? Lai released a lying (laing) statement against Jonathan accusing him while Elrufai, a man who cannot rescue his own citizens of Southern Kaduna and whom Olusegun Obasanjo described as a "pathological" liar with a "penchant" for character assassination (in his book My Watch) was circulating the lie on Social Media. NTA news at 9 PM on Monday the 6th of March, 2017, was devoted to promoting this lie rather than to inform Nigerians of the good work that Acting President Osinbajo is doing. But now that the truth is out there is total silence from both guys. I know these people very well. Please do not doubt me when I say lying is their main occupation!

Call Governor Fayose, Prove Him Wrong, PDP Youths Challenge Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Frontier has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to prove governor Ayo Fayose’s rants about his health status wrong by placing a call either to the governor or to Nigerians.

This position was made known in a series of tweets on the group’s Twitter handle, endorsed by its leader, Usman Austin Okai on Monday

The opposition youth group said Buhari’s phone calls in the capacity of Nigeria’s President ought not to be only an All Progressives Congress (APC) affair but a national affair transcending party affiliations.

They also lampooned Kaduna state governor’s threat to ensure that an indigene of the state, AUdu Maikori, was jailed for allegedly sponsoring the publication of a false story that was critical of the state government’s handling of the violent crisis in Southern part of the Kaduna.

The PDP youths tweeted: ‎“Day 46 of Buhari’s vacation. Yet he has not found it necessary to address even the 15 million who voted for him.

“It is now left for @MBuhari now to prove Gov. Fayose wrong by simply putting a phone call to him. Buhari phone calls shouldn’t be only APC affairs.

“Democracy in action @GEJonathan said “No Nigerian Was Sent To Prison For What They Said Or Wrote Under Me” @elrufainothing last forever.”
