PureWays:
Which discrimination in education are you talking about?
Last time I checked, Nigerian woman are given every right to go to school..

There are many companies that prefers female workers to male so the issue of economic rights is invalid..

I think women don't want to fight for opportunities like the men do, this struggle is to promote female nepotism and superiority..

All what the bill seeks has already been given, all what the women need it to "go take it".

2 in every 3 out of school Nigerian children are GIRLS, because when poverty grinds, families find it "better" to hold girls back and let boys go to school. The drop out rate of adolescent girls from secondary school due to poverty, child marriage, forced pregnancies, lack of menstrual hygiene facilities etc. is 5 TIMES that of boys.

Do you know that in IT/STEM (Science Engineering and Maths) industries, women are discriminated against and passed up for promotion opportunities year after year due to gender-related bias? Have you reviewed the statistics from the World Economic Forum about Africa losing billions of dollars every year due to gender gap in the work place, especially since most women earn far less than their equally competent male colleagues? Have you bothered to take time out to listen to woes of women in the work place, where their professional skills will never be enough for their bosses and they face silent and agonizing pain, proving themselves in bed or opting to lose their jobs?

Knowledge is power. Let us always strive to attain balanced and fair perspectives.

Is the bill only about sexual rights of Nigerian women?

Not at all. It touches on discrimination in education, public and social spaces, economic rights of women (e.g access to employment opportunities, credit facilities, widows' rights to share equally in the estate of deceased husbands), and illegalization of several sociocultural practices that serve as barriers against the development of women and girls.

can someone please explain what the bold means to me Cause I don't seem to get it.

If everything mentioned there are what the bill is to achieve, then I think the "Gender equality" title they are giving it is wrong. It should be, Equal rights and elimination of violence against the female gender" which is totally different from Gender equality. People tend to mix the two which is why this battle is a lost one already.

Aunty, that is what Gender Equality means exactly...that everybody has equal rights, access to equal opportunities and treatment, REGARDLESS of gender. Not that women hate men, are "the same" as men or want to push men backwards. It is the political air-heads, the anti-progressive lots who spin the term to mean something entirely different. So yes, the appropriate all encompassing name of the bill is the Gender Equality Bill.

Travel / Re: Reviewing Duration Of Stay On Issued Schengen Visa by purplish(f): 8:31am On Apr 12, 2016
Thank you. Just that the trip is about 3 weeks away and I don't want to expend my efforts if it is impossible to review an issued visa.
Travel / Reviewing Duration Of Stay On Issued Schengen Visa by purplish(f): 7:19am On Apr 12, 2016
I'll try to make this as brief as possible. I am very devastated at my situation.

For up to 6 weeks, I have awaited reply from the Danish embassy on my multiple entry visa application, first to Denmark and then to Spain a few days after my return. I was granted a multiple entry visa with a one month validity period BUT only 7 days for duration of stay

This would only cover my trip to Denmark as that is the exact number of days for the conference.

Who has any experience with this sort of situation? Is there a method for reviewing the duration of stay by the embassy, since the visa has already been granted?

Please help. Thanks.

Please note that I'm not a dealer. I just need dollars to pay some fees, and I believe your rate is better than what I'll get outside. So please reply this message or send me your PM if you're still interested.

You have no problem receiving it in another person Dom account. It is just that the person have to be available for any transaction.

You can even sell it here on nairaland. Go to the bank with the person, transfer the dollar to his Dom account while he transfers the naira equivalent to your naira account immediately.

I see...Thank you!

The bank will pay you 199/$

Open a domiciliary account and receive it. Sell it at 250 and above through your account.

Wow! That's so unfair cry

Its not possible for me to open a Dom account at the moment though. If I receive through another person's Dom account, what are my chances of getting it at 250 or higher!

I empathize with you dear smiley

Please stop looking for jobs with law firms only. Spread your tentacles. There are many good companies that would take you as a Legal assistant or Corporate governance officer with your 2:1/2:2 combo. Leverage on your other skills too...apply for decent admin/managerial roles.

As much as possible, try to have a positive mindset. This may be God orchestrating your destiny. Law is a launching pad...everybody cannot/should not practice with their law degree. Keep calm and keep believing smiley
