Car Talk / Re: Toyota Camry (2000 - 2017 Edition) Maintenance by Pyroclast(m): 10:50am On Feb 22, 2017
xyoung:

What of this ABS, check and chair signs on my dashboard
Warning lights
Check light can be triggered by the ABS warning lamp but not restricted to that alone. It also indicates malfunctions pending or in the engine or transmission ECU history
ABS, anti lock braking system warning lamp indicates a malfunction within the vehicle's braking system.
"The chair" indicates a SRS (safety restraint system) malfunction
Your vehicle needs a scan to identify the source(s) of these indicators.

Just want to know what is responsible for a Toyota Big Daddy jerking /vibrating anytime you put the AC on?

You would be needing a throttle body service.

Reference:

But c'mon guys.... if you are going to handle cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars the least you can do is to create an environment for that. I mean why do your repairs all out in the open and in such tough conditions. Looking at the picture for instance there is no protection around the hood edges and these engines are massive so you end up with paint scratches and dents here and there and.... abeg if the owner came around... where will he sit.....
I doubt if repairs had started on the vehicle. The car is even probably there for an oil change not engine transplant. The guys must have been beholding the engine bay of the car in awe. Camera angle didn't show the entirety of the workshop but I'm sure they would have a receiving area

Fvck Nero and the fvcking Chef mennnn! Before I left Ibadan, the neighborhood was quite with civil minded people and families living in both old Bodija and New Bodija. The caliber of people you find there are hardworking people like doctors, engineers and some other proffessions, not yahoo yahoo and cocaine boys. We know ourselves and the family you came from! We have bad guys but not like all these fetish muthafvckers!

From Cotton's club to Platinum at old Bodija, and from Joanis guest house, AKA Joe to La - Parisane at New Bodija... I bet it if Nero knows a club called La - parisane. To cut the story short, those assholes just messed up the good name of the neighborhood and corrupt so many innocent young girls and guys with their flamboyant lifestyles. Even when Ade Bendal was living on my street, he did his shit codedly, and he tried his best to remain anonymous not like this loud muthafvcker they call Nero!

Dammit! There's no place like home.e

You're so right.

That forest reserve can be lonely mehn.
Only illegal loggers and some fulani herdsmen thrive there. Now we see cannabis farmers.
Thank God I didn't bump into them when trekking that expansive forest for my Gey384 back then.
Car Talk / Re: Lagos Style Of Vehicle Towing (Photos, Video) by Pyroclast(m): 12:02pm On Sep 08, 2016
GAZZUZZ:
it is quite annoying when people that are supposed to enforce the law, are the ones breaking it. Iv seen this style of towing with over 7vehicles being towed by 1 van, I also saw one of the chains break and it caused terrible traffic until they were able to get them out of the way. In lagos a rickety tow truck without any turning signals will be used to tow a clean complete vehicle because the owner did no turn on the hazard lights when vehicle was parked. angry this revenue they are generating ehn 2019 is round the corner.

Hmmmm. Hazard lights lessons cost 10k

Guy!!! I am not an auto tech, but I have had enough experience with same car, had to help somebody fix that (2004 SL) car. Similar issues with yours and even worse, gave it go a very good and dedicated auto expert here in nairaland (did well and made me happy), engine was changed before, gear, ecu, throttle body, steering rack and the list went on. He advised the car be sold, but just like you, the owner (MIL) loved the car and thought it was the next best thing after agege bread and ewa agoin got married, until engine started its own wahala (round 2) and needed to be replaced. Now car is on sale somewhere I don't even care to know.
Though it is a joy to ride if the car is ok, but when the wahala start, you will hate the car with a passion
That car is a joy killer, you MIGHT continue spending on the car, and might angrily give it out someday. PLEASE for the sake of being happy, SELL the CAR.

Bros Bros! How are you sir!

What has your intelligent father achieved in his life?

Car Talk / Re: How Do You Verify Prices When Your Mech Gives You A List Worth 70k by Pyroclast(m): 8:35am On Jun 19, 2016
Toppytek:
It's better you allow your mechanic buy those parts he'll need to replace by himself... I remember one man then when I was learning automobile mechanic before gaining admission... Over sabi dey worry d man... He wanted to service his car and he came with the wrong oil filter... My master told him the filter wouldn't work properly on the vehicle but this man insisted and the oil filter was used for him... Trust me he came back 3 days later to complain about engine malfunctioning. The engine later broke down and he paid to get him another Tokunbo engine just because of a #1000 oil filter...
Another thing is... Those guys selling spare parts are not smiling... They'll probably know that that a particular component or part might not work effectively on your vehicle but because they've seen you as a novice they can give u the wrong one ... I'm talking from the little experience I had then.

And for taking mechanics as not trust worthy.. How I wish you can understand that not all mechanics are the same .. My master will never force you to give him money to buy anything for u... You can go on and buy it yourself so far he's not going to take the blame he'll only advise you on the brand to buy.

I lik automobile mechanic job .. .. But trust me .. It's not easy.. I've seen threads here give on nairaland where people underrate mechanics as if they're not Human being.. How I wish u can go into this work for just 2 weeks .. Am sure you will run from it...

Very well said!

many a times, i always intervene and stop their Parents from beating 'em.

U just got me nostalgic!!
Nowadays, I see my dad's reasons for his actions then and also his flaws in the past. I try not to make the same mistakes he made.
