athough, the MM/YY data on the seat belt can be used to decode the year of manufacture of a car, the actual year is determined by the 10th letter of the VIN e.g. JN8DR09Y31W600100 - 10th digit is 1 so this is a 2001 car.JN8AR07S6YW398818 - 10th digit is Y this is a 2000.

i.e X is 1999, Y is 2000,1 is 2001,2 is 2002

I know someone that had the same experience. In his case, the DNA test showed that the is a 99.99% chance that he's not the father of his 2 sons. To make matter worst, doctors in Nigeria and Us said he can never father a child. He had surgery some years ago and his new wife gave birth.

Exporting car to Nigeria is not as simple as ABC. Automaster must have had a bad experience from some rotten apples but the truth is most auto dealers in the US, like me are insured and bonded.

To most of us, car exporting to Nigeria is the greatest risk to take, hence in as much that it is obvious that some cars like an 07 Camry can get to Lagos for N3 million and offered for sale at N6 million, it is important to know what is involved. First of all, no car is the same in terms of specifications.You can't really compare an Honda Accord with another Accord of the same year because they both have leather interior, there are many add-ons that might differ these two cars.However, to an average Nigerian buyer all they care for 2000 Toyota Camry "padded", factory fitted AC and other jargons that doesn't really make any meaning in the very competitive American auto retail industry. One of my friends, shipped an 08 Camry to Lagos in Nov 07, and had the keys stolen at the port.He has spent about N500,000 at a dealership on Lekki E/way and the car's remote control is still not functioning Like every biz, the keyword is buyer's beware.

I have had situations when I bought cars without deposit from buyers in Nigeria, only for them to change color or options or stop communicating due to one funny story or another.Only last week, one of my buyers refused to pay for the  the remaining 75% and clearing cost of a car after it landed in Tin-Can simply because is father -in-law died. This is a guy who was calling me every second to find out the status of the car.

Lesson learned - don't send a car to LAgos unless and until you have received the bulk of your money. Most people think these cars are stolen or got for 50 cents. For record, cars are bought at Auto Auctions with Cash or Bank Drafts, no credit or COD.

I don't think you can get a good XLE (leather) for less than 3 million naira.Let me know if you need further info.

They are Ok and not too expensive to maintain in the US, but I won't recommend them for Nigeria because of the high cost of maintaining them. An example is the cost of engine replacement ee.g. Dodge Intrepid (same family)

Follow arsenal4va suggestion.Mtce reqd is normally reset by the Honda dealer after the required service has been done based on the mileage of the car. As for the check engine light, it might be due to little stuff like not locking you gas tank (always ensure that it clicks 3 times to guarantee that it is well locked), to problem with oxygen sensors(emission related). An OBD Scanner is a great tool that can confirm what the problem is. Best of luck

You both just have to sign the title on the back(buyer & seller), if Bill Of Sale and you are good to go. Its yours, but to register it with US DMV that is why you pay for tag,tax &title.You just lost $800 because you can't really steal a car and have tha title signed with B.O.S at same time shipper will only ask for it if they expect customs to check which was why a lot of luxury rental cars were shipped to(stolen) naija e.g Tunde Tabasco. SO just get a temporary tag and drive the thing to a RORO port. put 4 years worth of brakes, synthetic engine oil(7x5qt), 2 fuel filters, 7 oil filter, Transmission oil+filter?(good luck) that is all you'll probably need IMHO.

As Sultaan said, the most important thing is for you and the seller to sign the appropriate space at the back showing that the car rightfully belongs to you.Custom will verify that the car is not stolen, lien free and duly yours. When I ship cars for my customers and the title is in their name they usually assign it to me,or if they don't have specae son the title, you can do affidavit for custom clearance.Ttiles are normally returned to agent with perforations on the upper left corner to show that the car has left the US.

Custom won't ship the car if there is any external item in it.RORO shipments require no content and please ensure that your oil level is about 1/4.

They are both good products.One is a sedan while the other is a mini-SUV.

What is of importance is your budget, what you need the car for, what is the terrain and the state of the roads in the are you live or frequent?

Anyway, they'll tell you heaven and earth untill your car get there then stories will change.
All I can tell you is if you don't have a buyer already for such an expensive car, don't ship your car.
I send down atleast 3cars to Nigeria every month but honestly, I don't even buy them till I get a buyer and some down payment. The most I can send on my own without having a buyer is one car a month and it has to be something they really want.
I shipped one ML320 last Dec. to some guy that agreed to the price, saw the picture before I bought the car and he ended up telling me its not the colour he want. Its grey but not dark enough for his liking!

I cleared mine by RORO for 200k.It came out in three days.Mine came through TinCan.Please if avoid Apapa if you can.There are too many  vultures there.

No, the V6 is more superior than the 4 cylinder, in terms of performance.However, because of the little difference in fuel consumption, which in my opinion can't be compared with the better performance, many Nigerians run away from V6 engine. The market is polluted with many stories about issues with the Honda V6 engine, hence the 'bad-mouth' in the market. I painfuly, sold a 2000 Accord V6 for N1.2m last week. Painful, in the sense that I would have made more money selling it in the US than in Nigeria. You win some you lose some!

I will advise you to go with the V6.Ever wondered why SUVs don't come with 4 cylinders.You will enjoy it if you maintain it well.

Has anyone noticed the rate at which prospective investors' fund are refunded due to oversubscription of IPO?Imagine allocations of 1000 out of 50000 requested from NAHCO and 1000 out of 25000 for Dangote.Whereas the big guns are getting allocations of millions of shares. 2000 Honda Odyssey by RORO is 180k. I cleared 2001 Sienna in a container for 250k, so the Odyssey ahould cost you between 250-300k depending on how you spread the clearing of the other cars.
