O.P I am of the opinion that you don't live in a big city (or any city for that), hence the very valid observation.
This is the plague of the RURAL South East, young boys drop out of school to pursue business (Nwanne chuba ego mentality), while the parents make sure that girls go to school, a proper education would be of great help at the right time; the average igbo parent knows that the easiest way for them to climb out of one social cycle is to marry into another and obviously no well to do Igbo man would come for an uneducated 'mgbeke'.

Simply put, even the uneducated igbo man knows the value of education; no matter how wealthy they might be. (Note that: that Igbo men are proud) hence let's not forget that for the uneducated ones they might always get shit from their educated peers for not going to school, by marriage they wish to compensate the deficit, and a well educated wife to them would be the greatest asset, especially if she studied accounting.


The rurul hausas on the other hand DON'T CARE, once a girl is 15 y.o even a poor farmer can marry her for a third wife, once she puts to bed, nothing like school again, it's the farm, the kitchen and the bedroom.
To the uneducated men, marrying an educated girl might mean she would be prideful, and that is social Haram.

This observation concerns the lower class and not the middle class, as an educated middle class Igbo man, education in a spouse is not up for debate, this is true for hausas as well, the educated marry the educated.

Im speaking in terms of marriage o. Where I live all d igbo guys married graduates but they themselves are barely secondarians and don't even speak good english, some of d igbo guys are even married to msc holders. But on d contrary, u see highly educated hausa men. some with even PhD marrying secondarians as wives or outright illiterates.Well, I may not feel any thing for d hausa ladies married to graduates but I do feel for d igbo ladies, how do they feel comfortable and compatible with a man who probably behaves primitively and maybe uncultured too. Don't those graduate ladies married to illiterate men feel that their friends and colleagues at work would look down on their husbands because of level of literacy?

First of all, no parent is sending their child outside to hawk so that men could see them. They are hawking because they want to earn a living. Under age girls hawk in the south too.

Secondly, no unmarried woman, whether under age or over age is supposed to have any form of sexual experience, except rape victims. Any unmarried woman who has any form of sexual experience is a slut, a b!tch and a hoe, just like most southern/non Muslim girls.

Yes while it is true that some of these young hawkers are easily deceived by bad men and romped, but u must also be just and fair to them that not all of these girls are disposed to premarital romp. Here in d north esp far north, getting married is very easy. Young beautiful maidens are sent out by their parents to hawk small things so that they could easily get introduced to young and even matured men who would eventually get married to them.
