Former Super Eagles defender and coach Augustine Eguavoen, has revealed that the current Nigerian national team has what it takes to comfortably win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
He told Footballive.ng

"It is very possible. The players have done well so far, my only worry now will be that all the players Gernot Rohr has invited have all done well which is very good so he has a big pool of players to select from which might be a problem for him but good for Nigeria."

Sports / Man City Sell Diaz To Real Madrid; Include Anti-Man United Clause by queenonyebiri1(f): 2:55pm On Jan 05, 2019
Manchester City have completed the sale of Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid - and has included an anti-Manchester United clause.
The Manchester Evening News says Diaz has left Manchester City for Real Madrid in a deal worth up to £22m (N10bn).

And the contract which has taken him to Real Madrid, for an initial fee of £15.5million (N7billion), has a clause designed to ensure he does not end up joining United.

City will also get 15 per cent of any fee Madrid get from selling him on, with one incredible exception.

If the Spanish giants decide to sell to “another Manchester club", that sell-on percentage rises to 40 per cent, making it almost impossible for the talented youngster to end up at Old Trafford.

There is no buy-back clause inserted in the Diaz deal, but City remain on good terms with the player, and if he does move on from Madrid, would be notified of his availability so they could join the bidding.

Sports / PSG's Neymar Named Most Valuable Football Player In Europe by queenonyebiri1(f): 9:12am On Jan 05, 2019
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is the most valuable footballer in the world according to KPMG.
Financial experts KPMG have launched a new tool to estimate the values of Europe's top footballers, with 26-year-old Neymar coming out on top at £206.5million (N95.9billion).

Neymar's PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe, 20, is second on the list with an estimated value of £193.8m (N90bn), while 31-year-old Barcelona legend Lionel Messi takes third place with a worth of £183.2m (N85bn).

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is the priciest English Premier League player, with his £151.6m (N70.39bn) value keeping him above Tottenham striker Harry Kane (£136.1m/N63bn), Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard (£133.5m/N61.12bn) and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne (£116.6m/N54bn).

Atletico Madrid's French frontman Antoine Griezman (£113.2m/N52.7bn), Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba (£107.5m/N49.9bn) and Barca schemer Philippe Coutinho (£106.5m/N49.5bn) complete the top 10.

Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo is outside of the top 10 on £96.5m (N46.9bn), which is £8.5m (N4.9bn) more than what the Serie A side paid Real Madrid to sign him last summer.

Ronaldo's age — he will be 34 in early February — is the main reason the Portugal captain isn't higher up the list.

Villarreal sensation Samuel Chukwueze should already be an Arsenal player, it has been revealed.
The Gunners are being linked with the 19 year-old this month, with the Nigerian declaring English Premier League ambitions last week.

Spanish outlet AS says at 17, Chukwueze already had a deal signed with Arsenal.

Arsenal moved for the forward after he helped Nigeria win the U-17 World Cup and finished the tournament's third highest scorer.

However, despite a deal being done with Diamond Academy in Nigeria, Arsenal were blocked from bringing Chukwueze to England by the Home Office over UK work permit laws.

Instead, Villarreal stepped in to sign the youngster for €500,000 (N206million).

Chukwueze could now be on the move to England for the €40m (N16.5bn) buyout clause in his current deal.

Sports / Aww...! Pulisic Sends Classy-emotional Message To BVB After Chelsea Move by queenonyebiri1(f): 1:59pm On Jan 02, 2019
Christian Pulisic has penned a classy-emotional statement to Borussia Dortmund fans after he joined Chelsea in a £58 million (N26.4 billion) deal on Wednesday.
The American has been loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.

In the statement, Pulisic also expressed his excitement at the prospect of joining a "legendary club" such as Chelsea in the summer.

The American winger said:

" It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I will be entering my final months at (y)our world-famous club.

It feels like only yesterday that I arrived in Dortmund as a raw, excited, very nervous but exceptionally proud 16-year-old from a small American town called Hershey. I had no idea what lay ahead but I soon discovered that as a young Schwarzgelben, I would be in the best possible hands.

I would not be where I am today without the club and their believe in giving young players a chance. It's been an honor and a dream to pull on the black-and-yellow in front of the Sudtribune!

Many, many memorable moments stand out - to have experienced all of them before my 20th birthday still feels, at times, like a dream. I would like to thank all those coaches who I have played under and who gave me these opportunities.

And to my amazing teammates throughout the years: You took me in as a young boy, shared your experience with me, helped me to develop and grown into a professional footballer. For this I sincerely thank you.

To our unbelievable fans: It's been a privilege to stand with you on the Sudtribune and to experience how you support your heroes. I feel honored to have been able to make the trip from being a supporter, to being supported. You have taken me in as one of your own. Thank you.

I would also like to thank Mr. Watzke and Mr Zorc. It was very important to me that I handled my situation in as fair and professional manner as possible towards the club. So I thank them for finding a solution that was a win-win for everyone. "

Sports / DONE DEAL: Chelsea Sign £58m BVB Winger Pulisic by queenonyebiri1(f): 1:33pm On Jan 02, 2019
Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic has joined Chelsea in a £58 million (N26.4 billion) deal.

The American winger has been immediately loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season.

With Pulisic unable to agree terms on a extension for his current contract, which was set to expire in 2020, Dortmund decided it was best to cash in on the 20-year-old.

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website:

It has always been Christian’s big dream to play in Premier League. This certainly has something to do with his American origin and thus we were not able to prolong his contract.

Because of this background and with his contract running down in 2020, we decided to accept Chelsea’s incredibly lucrative offer.

Christian Pulisic has a flawless character. I am sure he’ll will do all he can in the coming months to contribute his big qualities to the squad and achieve Borussia Dortmund’s sporting goals with his teammates.

Chelsea in their official statement said:

Christian Pulisic is now a Chelsea player, but will spend the rest of the season back on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he has spent his entire career so far.

The 20-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year contract, and becomes the third American player in our history after his international team-mate, Matt Miazga, and Roy Wegerle.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were two other clubs who registered an interest in Pulisic, who has struggled for game-time under Lucien Favre this season.

Sports / Spurs Boss Pochettino Takes Aim At Chelsea's Hazard For 2016 Taunt by queenonyebiri1(f): 3:57pm On Dec 29, 2018
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has taken aim at Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

Pochettino recalls the likes of Hazard stating they wanted Leicester to win the title in 2016.

Hazard said:

We don't want Tottenham to win the Premier League - the fans, the club and the players.

Hazard said this ahead of a bad-tempered 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in May that extinguished Tottenham's hopes once and for all.

And Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri - who was unaware of Pochettino's remarks - declared yesterday:

I think the title is a fight between City and Liverpool.

Pochettino has not forgotten Hazard's comment as he called for rival players and managers to keep their opinions quiet this time around.

He said:

When you are professional, some opinions you cannot make public.

Because after you create a big problem like what happened at Chelsea. That was more like a battle than a football game. Why did that happen? You know very well.

That's why it's compulsory to behave professionally. We translate a lot of emotion to the people. We are public persons."

Sports / Chelsea's Hazard: "Kicking Me Gives Extra Power To Do Something Magic" by queenonyebiri1(f): 3:47pm On Dec 29, 2018
Chelsea ace Eden Hazard admits he welcomes being kicked in games.
Hazard finds it a compliment.

He has been one of the five most-fouled players in the league every year since he joined Chelsea. Twice he has been the most fouled (the title-winning campaigns of 2014/15 and 2016/17) and already this term he leads the way, illegally halted on average every 24 minutes.

Hazard said:

Sometimes it's tough. For seven years I have got kicked all the time. But now I take care of my ankles, my knees! We have one of the best medical departments in the world.

I don't like to say I like it, but when people kick me it gives me a feeling that I am too good, or they just want to stop me and they can't. That gives me extra power to do something magic.

Sports / Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois Savagely Trolls Liverpool Supporter On Instagram by queenonyebiri1(f): 8:12am On Dec 29, 2018
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has brutally trolled a Liverpool fan on Instagram who called him out on a lack of clean sheets.
It’s not been the dream move to Real Madrid Courtois had been hoping for so far.

The player left Chelsea in the summer transfer window, signing for Los Blancos in a deal worth around £35 million (N16 billion) due to the length of his contract.

There was much expectation and pressure placed on him following the move and quite frankly, he hasn’t lived up to those expectations.

Courtois has conceded an incredible 18 goals in 14 La Liga matches so far this season.

That has lead to some pretty big criticism not only from Real Madrid fans but from others including one Liverpool fan on Instagram.

The Belgian goalkeeper posted a picture of himself in Abu Dhabi at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on Instagram with the caption "one of the most beautiful places I visited!"

With the La Liga winter break currently underway, players are free to enjoy some downtime. Though, one comment caught Courtois’ eye after posting.

A supposed Liverpool fan under the username ‘futbol_gazer’ commented on his post, reminding him he "still can’t keep a clean sheet."

What the Liverpool fan was not expecting, however, was for the former Chelsea goalkeeper to reply. Courtois’ responded with a brilliant burn, replying ”still no premier league."

It remains to be seen if Liverpool fans will have the last laugh if they continue their fine form this season.

The Reds are currently six points clear of Tottenham at the top of the English Premier League.

Sports / Belgium Coach Martinez The Two Players That Are Only Ahead Of Chelsea's Hazard by queenonyebiri1(f): 10:45am On Dec 26, 2018
Belgium coach Roberto Martinez is adamant Chelsea ace Eden Hazard sits among today's greats.

Martinez insists only Barcelona star Leo Messi and Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo can be regarded ahead of the Belgium captain.

He told The Times:

"Internationally, I have only seen one player constantly play at the top.

" If you take out Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, I do not think you can find another decisive player.

Eden won the championship in Lille, a team that did not have the right to win."

Sports / "One Day I Will Eat Whenever I Want": Neymar Reveals How Poverty Made Him A Star by queenonyebiri1(f): 9:00am On Dec 24, 2018
Brazil star Neymar has opened up on the struggles of his upbringing and revealed how a lack of cookies gave him motivation to become a rich and successful footballer.

The world record signing, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona for £198million (N91billion), was once in an environment where every penny counted and food was in scarce supply.

And in an open and honest interview with YouTube channel O Primo Rico, the PSG forward recounts one particular story about being owed cookies from his mother and how that fuelled a fire inside him to become a rich and successful player.

He said:

There's a story with my mum and I think most people know it. I really wanted to eat cookies but we didn't have any, so my mum said: "Son we don't have more money, there's no way. I'll owe you this week, maybe next week when dad gets his payment, we can buy it."

"At the same time I told her, "mum it's OK. One day I will be very rich. I'll buy a cookie factory so I can eat whenever I want." My mum cries when she tells that story because it was really touching for her.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to hire Jose Mourinho for a second spell in order to force out Sergio Ramos, it has been revealed.
Sacked this week by Manchester United, Mourinho is already in talks with Florentino about a return to Madrid.

And Mundo Deportivo says the president wants to hire Mourinho to shake up the locker room and push Ramos into quitting the club.

Despite public appearances, Florentino and Ramos are at loggerheads behind the scenes with the president believing his captain's ego is out of control.

Florentino would count on Mourinho to force out Ramos and bring on Raphael Varane as Real's prime centre-half going into a new era.

Mourinho has already assured Florentino he would make an effort to mend bridges with the Madrid media.

The dilemma for Florentino now is whether to wait until the summer to replace Santiago Solari or replace him immediately with the Portuguese.

Sports / Ex- Man United Defender: "Sir Alex Behind Solskjaer Return" by queenonyebiri1(f): 11:31am On Dec 20, 2018
Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg believes Sir Alex Ferguson is behind Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment.
Molde have allowed Solskjaer to join United as caretaker manager after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

"Ferguson is behind this. He has approved it. If he had been against it, Ole Gunnar would not have got the job. That is clear. He has been involved here," Berg told VG.

"Ole Gunnar will enter the dressing room with great authority. He will gain respect in the player group based on what he has done as playing in United's most successful time. He has great status among all previous players he has played with.

"He would say that this is a new start. 'We are Manchester United. We will do this together. Everyone must support each other'.

"Ole Gunnar's job is to make everyone pull in the same direction. Players must put all conflicts behind them. They must play as a team. And I think that Ole Gunnar can do that."
