The Flying Eagles went to Poland as one of the African representatives at the FIFA WORLD Cup, they camped for the competition and played without allowances and bonuses but were promised that once they get to Nigeria they will get all outstanding money due them.
However, the Aigbogun-led U20 players are now insisting they will not leave the hotel until all money owed them are paid.

The players were scheduled to travel back home on Tuesday morning (today) but missed their flight after refusing to leave their hotel until they get their bonuses.

Pleas from team officials also fell on deaf hears as the players refused to listen to them. It remain to be seen if the issues will be resolved on time to facilitate the team departure from Poland.

The Flying Eagles’ unimpressive World Cup Campaign came to an end on Monday night after losing 2-1 to fellow African team Senegal.

Antonio Conte has been named Inter Milan new boss, replacing the sacked Luciano Spalletti.

The 49-year-old returns to work in Italy after being dismissed by Chelsea at the end of last season.

He spent two years at Stamford Bridge, where he won the Premier League and FA Cup, having previously claimed three Serie A titles as boss of Juventus.

Under Spalletti, Inter finished fourth in the league and qualified for the Champions League.

The former Juventus and Italy midfielder told the Italian club official website:

Winning Wednesday's Europa League final would be worth at least £90million (N40.9billion) to Arsenal - even if they don't advance beyond next season's UEFA Champions League group stage.

In an illustration of how qualifying for the Champions League sets a booster rocket beneath clubs' earnings, the Gunners would earn as much from simply participating in it next season than winning this season's Europa League.

Though victory over Chelsea in Baku would come with the prestige of a trophy, the incentive of an automatic place in the 2019-20 Champions League is just as strong.

Arsenal stand to pocket around £43.4m (N19.7bn) in prize money if they defeat their London rivals and that would rise to £47.5m (N21.59bn) if they beat either Liverpool or Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul on August 14.

But simply appearing in the group stage of next season's Champions League would see Arsenal almost double their money, with over £20m (N9bn) television money, a hefty coefficient payment and a 'starting fee' of £13.4m (N6bn) just for participating.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Naby Keita 'has no chance' of being available for Liverpool's UEFA Champions League final clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Barcelona could reportedly be prepared to sell Luis Suarez in this summer's transfer window.

Suarez joined the Catalan giants from Liverpool in 2014 and has scored 177 goals in 247 appearances in all competitions, winning four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey crowns and one Champions League during his time at Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old contributed 25 goals in all competitions during the 2018-19 season but was forced to miss Barca's last three La Liga matches and the Copa del Rey final after undergoing knee surgery.

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to offer manager Pep Guardiola a new five-year contract worth around £100m (N45.9bn).

Guardiola has established City as the dominant force in English football during his three-year reign at the Etihad Stadium, winning back-to-back English Premier League titles and leading his side to an unprecedented domestic treble this season.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach still has two years remaining on his current deal, but Man City are eager to tie him down for longer and the Daily Mail reports that they are preparing fresh terms which would keep him at the club until 2024.

After clinching the English Premier League title away at Brighton, Pep Guardiola expected business as usual when he arrived at Manchester City's training ground on the Monday morning.
City cruised to a 4-1 win on the final day to beat Liverpool to the league title by a single point and for many at the club it was a weekend dominated by title celebrations following a long season.

And according to the Times, as Guardiola arrived for his usual Monday morning breakfast, the Catalan could not be served as the cook was too hungover to come in.

After the 4-1 win over Brighton, Guardiola gave his title-winning players the Monday off, so staff at City's training base did not expect anyone to be around, particularly not the manager.

But the report reveals that Guardiola had agreed to meet City directors Txiki Begiristain and Manuel Estiarte for breakfast - it was a meeting that they undertook every Monday morning.

Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas is reportedly planning to announce his retirement from football following his recent heart attack scare.

The 37-year-old World Cup winner intends to call time on his career at the end of the season as he does not want to feed uncertainty about his future, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo.

Jose Mourinho says his struggles at Manchester United were down to the "players, organisation and ambition" of the club as he denied suggestions Paul Pogba was to blame for his sacking.

Mourinho was axed as United boss back in December following a dismal run of results and a public falling out with record signing Paul Pogba.

Although the Red Devils’ form picked up once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as his replacement, their performances dipped again toward the end of the season and they ended up finishing sixth in the English Premier League.

And when asked whether Pogba was the biggest problem at Old Trafford in an interview with French paper L'Equipe, Mourinho offered a definitive analysis about the deep-rooted issues at the club.

Asked by L'Equipe if he was a victim of Pogba, Mourinho said:

No, no. The problems are there, you can imagine that the problems are the players, the organisation, the ambition. I will only say that I cannot say 'yes' when you ask if Paul was the only one responsible.

I said nine or 10 months ago that after winning eight championships, finishing second with United may have been my greatest achievement. Now people understand.

The supporters of Chinese Super League club Hebei China Fortune appear to have got their wish after manager Chris Coleman was sacked.


A banner reading 'Hello Mr Coleman, please go home! You're fired" appeared in the stands during a 3-2 home defeat by Henan Jianye which left the club second from bottom of the table.

Coleman, 48, had endured a torrid start to life in China with Hebei winning once, drawing twice and losing six times in their opening nine games, leaving them in the relegation zone.

He was only appointed last June as successor to Manuel Pellegrini, who came to the Premier League to manage West Ham.

A statement appeared on Hebei's social media accounts on Wednesday confirming the Welshman had been dismissed.

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure is heading into retirement at the age of 35, his agent Dimitri Seluk has revealed.
The former Ivory Coast international, who also represented the likes of Barcelona and Monaco at the peak of his career, is set to explore a move into coaching and management.

The final outings of his distinguished career came during a second spell at Greek giants Olympiakos.

It is, however, for his time at Camp Nou and the Etihad Stadium that he is best known.

Toure spent three years with Barca, winning the Liga title and Champions League.

He moved to City in 2010 and helped them to three Premier League crowns, two League Cup successes and an FA Cup win – with his goal in the 2011 final getting the club back on the trophy trail.

Neymar has been banned for three games, with two more suspended, by the French Football Federation following an investigation into his altercation with a spectator after Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de France final defeat to Rennes.
Neymar, who appeared to hit a member of the crowd while on his way to collect his runner-up medal after the defeat on penalties, could have faced a ban of up to eight matches for the incident.

The punishment means the Brazil international will miss PSG's final home game of the season against Dijon, the campaign-ending trip to Reims and the Trophee des Champions against Rennes in China in August.

Eden Hazard is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid after lengthy negotiations between the club and the player’s representatives, according to a report.

Danny Rose says he cannot wait to see the back of football because of the racism which blights the modern game.


The Tottenham defender, who was among the England players targeted with racist abuse in Montenegro last week, hit out at the ruling bodies for failing to tackle the problem.

He branded the current situation a 'farce' and does not expect it to change when football's authorities continually fail to punish the offenders.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has added to his extensive tattoo collection with a lion, eagle and gloved hands inked onto his back.

After the work was completed, the artist Adao Rosa posted a picture of the end product on Instagram.

At the top of the back is some bibilical imagery with a Christ-like figure and angel wings.

Below is an eagle to the left, dragon on the right and then some goalkeeper hands catching a football above a very detailed image of a lion's head.

Inch by inch, the 25-year-old seems to be covering his whole body.

As part of their preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria U17s on Wednesday beat Kaduna based Mutunchi Academy 7-0 in a friendly played at the Abuja National Stadium.

With less than three weeks to the start of the competition in Tanzania, Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba says without the conduct of the MRI test, he cannot say he has a team yet.

Manu Garba said:

Obviously we have players who have not got the opportunity to play that can make the team to Tanzania, that is after the MRI.

We don't know who is who now until after the MRI has been conducted, why I didn't give those new players a chance to play is the fact that all the players that played today for us have passed the MRI before and we are sure at least 90 percent will go to Tanzania.

I must say that there are a lot of players that can displace some of the players that played today.

This team can only get stronger with the inclusion of those players I'm talking about especially in the offensive and midfield sector.

Sport says Coutinho hasn't adapted to Ernesto Valverde's system, and he's not working well in an inside position.

Selling the player won't be easy though, and he will not be let leave for anything under €100m (N40.7bn).

With Ajax whiz Frenkie de Jong awaiting his move, the club are aware that Coutinho needs to move on.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed the quality of football in the Premier League was exactly as he expected when he signed for Manchester United – overrated.

After leaving his native Sweden, Ibrahimovic played four seasons in the Netherlands' Eredivisie, seven seasons in Italy's Serie A, four seasons in France's Ligue 1 and a year in Spain's La Liga, winning 12 domestic titles in total.

The 116-cap Sweden international finally made the move to the English top flight in July 2016, aged 34, and he explained how he anticipated he would need to adjust to the Premier League.

Ibrahimovic netted 17 goals in 28 games during his first season at Old Trafford and the striker, now at LA Galaxy in the United States' Major League Soccer, can only imagine what would have happened had he arrived in Manchester 10 years earlier.

Real Madrid have confirmed Zinedine Zidane's return to the club as manager, replacing the sacked Santiago Solari.
The Frenchman, who left Real last summer after leading the club to three successive Champions League titles, has signed a contract at the Bernabeu until June 2022.

Real's board of directors met with Solari on Monday evening to dismiss the Argentine and rehire Zidane.

A club statement on Real Madrid official website read:

Manchester United boss Solskjaer is furious seeing his image used by a betting company for promotion.

Solskjaer has told NRK the matter is with his lawyers after learning Paddy Power had used his image without permission.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has agreed terms with Juventus, it is being claimed in Italy.
According to Italian journalist Luigi Guelpa, Guardiola is so keen on a move to Turin that he has given the club his word and agreed in principal to sign a four-year deal.

Guelpa claims his information has come from the same source who last summer broke the news that Cristiano Ronaldo was leaving Real Madrid for Juve.

Guelpa told Radio CRC:


"I've learned that Pep Guardiola already has reached a verbal agreement with Juventus for the next four years. It's the same person who told me that Ronaldo was going to Juventus. "


City face the prospect of being thrown out of this year's competition next season after UEFA opened an investigation into allegation of Financial Fair Play breaches.

But Guardiola insisted the outcome of that probe would "absolutely not" affect his legacy.


Guardiola, who is under contract at City until the end of the 2020-21 season, has won league titles in Spain, Germany and England.

Juve are on course to win Serie A for an eighth consecutive season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is facing an internal battle over his wish to rehire Jose Mourinho.

AS says the former Real coach is the president's No1 selection to replace Santiago Solari after a disastrous seven days for the club. Real are out of all three competitions after a horror week.

Florentino believes Mourinho's "heavy hand" is what is needed by Real at this time. But his No2, Jose Angel Sanchez, has argued against the Portuguese's return given there remains resentment from the likes of Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema and Marcelo after his previous spell in charge.

Other board members are against Mourinho and have put forward Germany coach Joachim Low as an alternative.

John Obi Mikel has advised players under the age of 30 to think twice before considering an offer from Chinese clubs that they should not be tempted by the money.
Chinese teams are luring outstanding players from top European Leagues by offering them huge financial incentives, and Mikel cashed in when he ended his more than ten-year association with Chelsea in January 2017.

After only two years in China, Mikel mutually terminated his contract with Tianjin Teda in the winter transfer market, citing the need to be closer to his family as the reason for his decision, before penning a short-term deal with Middlesbrough.

He said:

"My advice to anyone thinking about going has a long think about it, you have to go at the right time.

"I certainly wouldn’t say to anyone under the age of 30 to go there, they will regret it if they do.

"It’s worth doing for a couple of years if only to learn a different culture, to give yourself an experience that takes you out of your comfort zone, but do not be tempted by the money if you are young.

"Do your research, check what sort of club you are going to over there.

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira could be out of action for over a month while he undergoes treatment after being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, according to reports in Italy on Wednesday.


Former World Cup winner Khedira has been ruled out of today's UEFA Champions League tie at Atletico Madrid because of atrial arrhythmia.

The condition causes an irregular and fast heart rate and can result in dizziness, shortness of breath and tiredness.

Khedira had suddenly felt his heart beat faster in training on Tuesday and immediately went for treatment.

coach Massimiliano Allegri said:

Sami Khedira is out of the squad, he stayed in Turin to undergo further tests. He's an important player for us with good international experience."


The 31-year-old could be sidelines for between 30 to 40 days, according to sports dailies Gazzetta and Corriere Dello Sport.

Arsenal defender Stephan Lichsteiner suffered from the same condition when playing for Juventus at the end of 2015 and was out for a month before returning to action.

Khedira has been struggling with a variety of health issues this season, and has played just nine league games and 15 matches in total.

He suffered a thigh injury in September which ruled him out for five weeks and then hurt his ankle on his return in November.

Maurizio Sarri will take charge of Chelsea’s Europa League match at home against Malmo on Thursday and is set to continue as manager for the Carabao Cup final on Sunday but defeat by Manchester City at Wembley could lead to his dismissal.

The 6-0 defeat at City this month and the FA Cup exit against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday night have left Sarri clinging to his job after less than a season.

A decision on his future will be taken by Roman Abramovich. The owner appointed Sarri and will choose whether to continue with him, rather than assigning that decision to Marina Granovskaia, the director who oversees much of Chelsea’s day-to-day business.

Abramovich has not attended a game this season.

On Monday Chelsea fans turned on Sarri in large numbers, chanting “f**k Sarri-ball” and eventually joining in with the United supporters’ refrain of “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Chelsea take a 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Europa League last-32 match against Malmo.

If Sarri survives the weekend he faces a English Premier League game at home against Tottenham next Wednesday.
