Petrochemical Engineering, as reasonable as the course may seem and as saleable as it may seem, have you ever considered the possibility of getting a job in that field after all said and done? Especially as you are based in Nigeria? Have you ever considered what made your parents suggest MBBS to you? Your brilliance deserves a field where you could easily flourish in the absence of governmental opportunities. If you graduate as a Doctor for instance, you could either get a government job and in the absence of this, you can easily establish a private hospital and be the boss of yourself.
Have you ever thought of what other opportunities you can get into with 'Pet Engine' if Nigeria fails you? Personally, I think this your course of study isn't befitting enough. Outside the circle of passion and intentions lies reality. The reality will always play out.
I'm not meddling with your personal choices like I said nor am I forcing my opinions on you. This is what I would say to a sister and I don't think it's late.
