Ask questions genuinely, if you have absolutely no knowledge how crypto trading (several aspects by the way) works
I know people that actually trade real crypto for real and have been doing for a long time. They're NOT rich. I used to be one of them. I also know people who say they "trade crypto" who have lots of money

Then why didn’t she sponsor herself to the UK alone?
She didn't have the money and the man did what boyfriends sometimes do (you may add "like mumu"}. Peller just bought his girlfriend (that dumped him) a 2026 Mercedes GLC.
You know full well she'll dump him again!

That's why my caveat: "If they can guarantee he'd get his money back"
69-30=39, a net gain of N39K

Three weeks ago, I mistakenly sent ₦69,000 to the wrong person. Immediately, I contacted my bank, and they gave me a form to fill out. After submitting the completed form, they told me it would take two weeks to process.

After the two weeks passed, I went back to the bank to follow up. That was when they told me I needed a court order to proceed.

Yesterday (Monday), I went to the court to obtain the court order. At the court, I was introduced to a lawyer, and the lawyer told me I would need to pay ₦30,000 to get the court order.

My brothers and sisters, how is this possible? I mistakenly sent ₦69,000, and now I’m being asked to pay ₦30,000 just to get a court order.

It’s even Gtbank to Gtbank.

I asked if they can provide me the person number so I can call the person directly and ask for my money. They said NO!!!
If paying the 30K wii guarantee your money back, I'd advice u to pay

When loving someone, you need to apply intelligence and safety regulations too, for you not to be taken as a fool.

He should have required from learned men before embarking on that favour he gave the girlfriend.

How come this sort of thing rarely happens to women? I woman won't sponsor a guy to go and then send for her no matter how rich she is

I agree with you regarding the block button. It was not necessary as it reduces interaction. Yes, ban those who outrightly insult others (I have been banned for this), but blocking further reduces communication. Most people need to understand the Internet is a marketplace, not their abode. Everyone cannot agree with you in a marketplace. Although Reddit has a block button as well, but I am just against blocking in general because it reduces an open communication.
Couldn't have said it better.
As for Reddit, blocking doesn't impact anything because of the massive scale (see below). Just the number of sections - millions compared to less than 50 on Nairaland!
Block button is simply ridiculous on a site like Nairaland.

You are correct but I didn't pass through Igbo apprenticeship system known as "Igba boi".

I went to university, graduated, worked for some time and out of one kind self-induced motivation and fear of growing in a firm where challenges of juju and all those stuffs become normal to keep one's position, I made the decision to resign and pursue private venture/business centered around my field back then.

So it wasn't as if I passed through any form of apprenticeship to master the business before I ventured into it like the "Nwa Boi" guys that serve a master for some years before starting theirs.
I hear ya. That is indeed risky - especially if you insist on succeeding in the first biz, like u said

But one thing about self-employment or private venture is that you know you have no other option but to succeed, so you keep trying other things on the streets till breakthrough comes, that spirit was what saved me oh, if I had remained stubborn that I must make it from my initial business venture, by now na kpangolo I for de use waka for street de beg for alms, God forbid lolz
But first biz almost always succeeds in Igbo apprenticeship system

No! I went to a celestial church at Olu obasanjo road with my friend, they sheltered us. I stayed just a month and learned a skill in barbering just for one month. I started to work at one salon around 2013, by 2015, I ventured into crypto trading, I learnt to trade Bitcoin. By 2017 , I hit my first $25k.. and it has been from one level to another. I just cut short the whole story for time sake
Which kind "bitcoin" were you trading? Bitcoin that has been falling

it is better to forgive than to keep account of wrong done.

forgiveness is hard but easier done than avoided.

malice is but emotionally laden and burdened with loads

lets love by interaction than hate with malice
But some neighbors don't want nor need your forgiveness or love. They stay in the fight mode. They're intentionally loud and always cursing and swearing.
What do you do then?

yes we can say many things came up and its not nairaland's fault, but we shouldn't forget then, it was twitter and nairaland forum that has the most traffic and sometimes compete in Nigeria. I could also remember people have been asking for changes and update long time ago, so the forum could compete. Where is twitter today?. Yet we can categoraly compare twitter with nairaland because they are far apart and they serve different purposes. But nonetheless twitter engages in constant upgrade
Only twitter grin. How about dozens of others that are no longer around? See some below. Add to them sites like:
Myspace
Napster
AOL Instant Messenger
Neopets, your personal virtual pets
etc

Besides, Jack Dorsey has since moved on and is always criticizing X

Only 13 page yet for this your post. When nairaland was at its primed, this your post would have definitely reached 40pages by now. There was a time I could never resist the urge to check nairaland every 30min every day for 365 days. But now, I can go days without even login in.
Not Nairaland's fault. Things wax and wane. Many forums have totally disappeared. New and more things come up. There's only so much attention available. TikTok was not around when Nairaland started, neither was Snapchat and many others, neither was monitization of many sites. Facebook has also become smaller than before, while WhatsApp has become bigger. Newer generation has many more choices and can also make money elsewhere. Things change and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it!

Seun you are seeking advice in the wrong place.
People are all different, with different tastes, interests, agendas, and peculiarities. Example, I disagree with above poster.
By the way I think the block button is totally useless and ridiculous on a site like Nairaland. I can't believe they actually talked you into having such a silly button. Nobody is forcing anybody to engage with any other person. You can simply ignore them and focus where you wish. That's what makes it an open forum!
Nairaland General › Re: Nairalanders, Talk To Me About Nairaland by QuinQ(f):
TheStoriesOfMan:
You ban people anyhow without cause, delete my comments yet you allow APC agents insult Peter Obi and opposition without ban.

If you don't like the running of the site, sell it and let reasonable people handle the site.

Also, time to get a proper Nairaland app. An app that should give notifs if there is a like, comment or share.

Start monetization.

Then add a feature where we can ban some monikers permanently.
Seun you are seeking advice in the wrong place.
People are all different, with different tastes, interests, agendas, and peculiarities. Example, I disagree with above poster.
Just like Ford said, "if I listened to people I'd make faster horses" or Steve Jobs who said people don't know what they want until you give it to them (he was told no one would be willing to carry phones around with them grin)
My advice is to look at things that have been proven to work in other places and COPY them (modified for Nairaland).

The short bans are great and as far as I can see they are working great. It has greatly reduced insults. You may consider having a Nairaland marketplace where people can buy and sell everything.
I admire the simplicity and uncluttered nature of Nairaland and I commend you for maintaining that simplicity instead of becomming greedy.
Be careful with monetization - you don't want a deluge of fake content. There are other ways. Example, Reddit ranks monikers based on their contributions to the site, and they have down votes (which automatically keep people polite grin).
Assume (like Steve Jobs) that you know what Nairalanders want better than them. Seek expert advice. Copy what's working elsewhere, (modified to suit Nairaland). Good luck
