Thanks for your response. You're correct. The funding did cover my tuition and stipend. I added the mandatory fees, insurance ,books and living expenses as written by the university and it is less than the stipend I was given. That means the stipend covers all that cost. Though I will have my bank statement handy, I won't be needing it.

Your I20 will have the funding on it so the only bank statement you may need to present is the difference between the funding you got and what you need to make up for.

However, this depends on how much funding you are to receive. For e.g, if it covers your stipend and tuition, then the mandatory fees and insurance are already subsets of that stipend and therefore only your I20 will suffice as a financial statement.

Hello Guys. Please I need your help on this. If you have a fully funded offer (Tuition waived and stipend) and you are just required to pay some mandatory fees and health insurance, do you have to pay for these before applying for visa or simply present the account statement to the VO duing the visa interview (If he asks for it)?

The government needs to seriously address the issue of unemployment in Nigeria. Gainfully employed folks won't venture into meaningless rallies like this.

Graduate student positions (MASc or PhD) are available at the University of British Columbia in the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering. The project is a part of a wider industrially sponsored project that is done in collaboration with several renowned academic
partners and an industrial partner in the natural resources sector. Project will be based at UBC and industrial partner’s R& facility in Vancouver.

The project will involve experimental work on lab and pilot scale solid-solid separation unit using advanced multiphase flow diagnostic tools such as PEPT, RPT, PIV, and ERT.

Candidates with experience in experimental fluid dynamics methods, FEA, and with great knowledge in sensing systems, data aquisition and analysis, computer programming, and particle physics are encouraged to apply. Advanced knowledge in C++, Python, FORTRAN, or
Matlab is required. Experience and knowledge in particle based numerical methods, namely DEM, SPH, MDS is considered to be a plus.

Candidates from mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering and from physics, mathematics, and computer science backgrounds are welcome.

Interested applicants should contact Dr. Miskovic, sanja.miskovic@ubc.ca, with the following information: CV/Resume, TOEFL score, copy of transcripts, and names of three references. Positions are available from Summer 2018. Later application will be considered until all

Go to the ETS website and register your account.(If you have not done that before). Try registering for the exam and then, you get to see available dates for your centre at that point in time. Put a call across to MAFIT. Tell them the specific date you want and also give them your ETS details. Make sure you register on the ETS website first to minimise errors. Don't let them fix a date for you. You can do that yourself.

On the alternative, ask them for the available dates for that month. They should be able to guide you. (Though I have noticed that they sometimes mix things up. It may not also be their fault as people regularly shift their test dates).

I want to register for GRE through B. Y Mafit, so what is bothering my mind is that, if I should register for the exam, will a date be fixed for me by default for the exam, or I will be allowed to pick a date for the exam. I need adequate preparation and I plan on writing the exam around July.

If you had done your research, you won't even compare California with Imo state. California as a state has many institutions.
Have you asked yourself why it Is so? The resources of California can cater for that.

For your information, you don't establish universities because you simply want to cater for the growing number of applicants. It must serve a purpose. IMSU is in shambles. Rochas stated building two universities. What's the progress update on it?

California has 264 Four Year Colleges and Universities and 745 Community Colleges, and Trade Schools. California is home to many great cities in the US and similarly many universities.

I just registered for GRE with B.Y mafit and my exam date is 2nd of May they gave detailed but numerous ebooks and Kaplan hard copy. My problem is how do i read everything with the limited time i have..Or do they have a study plan and areas to focus on to get more from the books and get high scores. Lol Only these universities know what they are looking for. Some focus on GPA. Some won't even look at your application if your GRE scores isn't up to what they expect. A Professor in Oregon State told me that in his department, if you don't get their minimum GRE score,They won't even look at your application.
Some of these GPA-centric universities tend to believe that your GPA is the result of some years work.GRE scores are the product of a short time effort. I agree with them though. The key thing I believe, is just to be a 'best fit' for your research area.

PhD applications are dicey. Many things have to work in your favour. Spaces are usually limited. For UCLA, 300 people applied to a particular department, only 15 were admitted.

I noticed that on Gradcafe. Some schools would prefer to admit someone who has a GPA of 4.0/4.0 and a cumulative GRE score of let's say 315 to someone who has a GPA of 3.5/4.0, GRE score of 332 and some years of research experience.

You see all these men and get irritated. They are only after their political career and their stomachs.

Yes true. Most have a deadline of April 15th for students to accept their offers. So March ending , hopefully.

Did you at any time post on Gradcafe ? I saw someone talk about Physics in Kansas State and the poster was a Nigerian. Be optimistic. Some courses are not so easy to get into their PhD program. Computer science, Philosophy, Economics and Physics are some of them.

This is my profile:
Course-Physics
GPA - 3.6/4 WES.
GRE-. did not sit for the general, registored,but later picked interest in the subject.The general GRE is not required.
Others:I publication in an international journal in India. Also a member of the American Physical Society.
Award:Recently received a workshop award from the APS which covers travel expenses and feeding for the March meeting.I got this award when I sent part of my work on wireless electricity. The APS is the largest physics body.

I later sent an update to the school on this news.I was told that the chance for second round of offers is by March -April timeframe.

Other schools applied: Cornell alone in the US. Didn't apply to more schools because of funds.

It is okay. They don't use the term 'Polytechnic' as we refer to it here.Such schools are generally research-intensive universities with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

RPI is a top school in the USA for engineering. Forget the Polytechnique part of their nomenclature (it started out as a skill-imbibing institute but is a research power house today). They are top 10 for Civil, Mech and EE in the USA. If their research interest matches yours, grab the offer with both hands and a leg. Some people have taken RPI over MIT. I kid you not.
