Anyone noticed that you cannot select certain courses in some schools? For instance, if you choose TUM in Germany or even French Institute of Petroleum , you cannot select a course and the form won't let you proceed to the next page.

I am not an expert but from what I have understood, if you prepare well, the computer based test will favour you. The paper based test questions are cast in stone and therefore not section adaptive unlike the computer based test. Please take the computer based test. All you need to do is to do a lot of practice tests i.e. Powerprep online,Manhattan,Kaplan etc. You will get used to the timing and format and you will score better.

took the gre got v-153 q-152. 305 overall . im not happy with the score so imma take it again someday(maybe next year or something). but this time im thinking i should go for the paper based since i did not enjoy the extra quant section cause i get bored quickly and loose focus. anddd the fact that im used to parer exams not computer based exams where you stare at it for 3+ hours .....extremely uncomfortable.

You can download your score report when the ETS notifies you that your scores are now available online. From the 13th, it should be available online. It usually takes a day or two to get to the school.When the ETS notifies you of your scores availability online, you will get to see your analytical writing scores there.

Compliment of the season buddies. Please I need some illumination concerning GRE. I plan to give the GRE on January 4th but the priority deadline for one of my target schools is January 15.

My questions are:

Firstly, does GRE produce online examinee report like TOEFL. I plan to upload it for my online application during application in case the official scores from ETS does not arrive the School before January 15th.

Secondly, for those that wrote GRE lately in Lagos approximately after how many days after the test date was the result ready--I mean AWA?

The scores I am seeing here though. It is scary as I do not even looked prepared as such but I am motivated to excel. My test is next week. A quick question. Do engineering or science test takers get Three Quant sections? My friend said it does not happen as they are more likely to get three Verbal sections. Verbal section is not easy for me, to be honest. Congrats to those who took their test today.

I will not apply except I have an alternate source of funding.

You can still get schools to apply to. The only issue is that it might be late for funding. Search online and you will get them. Oregon state university for example have a deadline of January 15th. I'm sure there are many others like that though most of them have a general deadline of December 15th.

Good day all, I planned to take my tests initially in December but due to my inadequate preparation I had to postpone it till January. I just finished reading through this wonderful thread and I perceive there is a general conception that writing the exam next year is too late for fall 2018, I thought I have an ample amount of time. Can I still get schools to apply to next year or I have to target 2019? which is scary, considering the fact that I'm not getting any younger ...please bosses in the house advise me appropriately.

From what I can deduce, some people have applied for the position already. He is trying to get the best from among the pool of applicants. He is not certain whether he will select one of them or not.If he does, you won't need to apply. However, he is still open to talk with you and probably hear from you. He probably wants to assess your ideas and all. I reckon he wants to go through the stress of accessing many applicants because he wants the best applicant to join his lab. Ask him for a Skype interview and give your best. You never can know.

Contact potential advisors with this GRE score. You can withhold it at first and just tell them your passion for a PhD. You should already know by now what you want to philosophize about WRT mechanical engineering.

If they respond, most will tell you that you may need to present GRE scores. You can now tell them you have written it before your masters and don't have money to retake it (only if they say it is low).

I have said it as nauseam on this thread because there is a plethora of evidence to support this - if they like you already, the GRE would hardly matter. After all, you have >300/340 which most ask for.

Be smart to approach Young profs (associates) and not the emeritus guys as those ones are like mannequins in the department. The people who actually have the funds to disburse are the vibrant associates (I got to learn this from my good friend over there). Also know the right schools to approach; I would say 2 or 3 A- schools, 4 B+ schools and more B/B- schools. msinus.com has a list showing which schools are which.
