SolutionMee:

China as a nation is eager to be like the USA. There will never be a time in history where China will be the most powerful nation on earth. Stealing other country's intellectual property gives them joy. Heartless people. They always want to build the largest this and the largest that. They don't even know God. As populous as they are, majority of them will still miss the last super with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The world has never benefitted any significant thing from them. No useful innovation and invention. Up till tomorrow, these inferior being are still struggling to land a rover on Mars in 2030 (something the US has done decades ago and are still doing). In fact, we will land another rover next year and I am happy to be playing an important role in NASA JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory). We will always be ahead of these guys military and economy wise. We will always be the most powerful nation on earth by introducing to the world new and powerful technologies like we always do. Shut up... You are a Nigerian. They are Miles ahead. US is living on past glory and a report that I read a few months back shows that they are about to overtake US as world economic power. It was also stated that if that happens, US will never take that spot. They feed the world in terms of manufacturing and tech, even the US depend on them. Why are American companies stationing their manufacturing hub in China and who told you that the US didn't steal? |

God bless you sir Now that is how to make things happen. Generally, everyone wants to know what they will gain from relating with you... Nobody wants a liability. Nobody takes you serious until your prove your worth, even your relatives. I spent 7 months chasing an idea. Nobody took me serious until I yielded results... Even now, due to the slight set back, I see some doubts but I know what I am seeing as the visionary. |

Abudu2000: listen. an environment with wealthy ones doesn't really mean there are no natural disasters happening there. for Christ sake even the USA and UK isn't free from tornadoe, earthquakes and all that. if you know you want to live a lifestyle where no one will envy you and try to bring you down to their proverty level just go to Island. even in mainland using a 2000 corolla your neighborhood will so much envy you and you will be a walking target but there are ppl with rolls Royce in banana island and they drive even at 2am at night. my brother ppl in mainland are wicked oo. infact I wish Lagos could be split into 2. even at this age there are very few ppl using a smartphone in the mainland, something that even kids see are a norm. in the mainland you will still find someone that will say they have no use for smartphone, they prefer their Nokia touch.
bottom line is this, if you live a higher lifestyle, don't just stay on an environment with poor population. it isn't about wether there's flooding or overhead bridges. the mentality of the ppl in mainland is just too low to tolerate rich ppl.
one last on, whenever you see a topic about expensive cars on fp, watch for those envy comments and you will know the ones in mainland. they are the "vanity upon vanity" crew. that's how the envy begins. I have a friend in diaspora too. he's almost done with is mansion so he can move his wife and kids that are in lekki phase 1. the amount he's spent already would have built him twice that Mansion @ ikorodu but he himself said it that mainland will kill his wife for him. he would rather remain on rent on the island than build on the mainland. I understand. I think it has to do with people who don't desire to be rich or don't know how riches work that will envy. I have never met someone who desires to be rich on the mainland use the word "vanity upon vanity".. They are often from poverty stricken homes. |

Capensis: The Advantages of living here in Lekki are numerous and out-weighs the disadvantages.
Advantages: 1. The Air is cleaner than the mainland because it is a Peninsular, the Atlantic Wind blows across and engages with the lagoon breeze, so you are always sure of clean air, especially in developed areas. The exception to this clean air norm is new estates that are springing up. Will be clean air after construction is perfected. Mainland air is somehow static, hardly flows.
2. What you see is what you become. When you see better-designed homes and offices than yours, you are challenged to note that you are not the wealthiest guy in town, so you end up working harder to earn more. The challenge leads to success, whereas if you are living in some mainland places, I supposed you could think you are the reigning champ.
3. The Atlantic Ocean; Nothing as great as taking a walk at the beach every weekend for me and this you can't find at the mainland, I supposed. Haven't lived on the mainland, so I don't know if there are beaches there.
4. High Networth neighbors; I suppose everyone has generators, but here, most generators are soundproof and actually big generators. We have more educated neighbors who know that these neighborhood do not need those yeye noisy generators and will look stupid if they even use such crazy stuff.
5. Until recently, we used to have educated drivers on the road, before the inflow of street guys who now drive like mor0ns and recently, I am forced to think that this once serene place will become the abode of wannabees who think Lekki is a place to live cos of hype.
6. Lekkians have more millions per sqm than any other part of the country, here the bills can make one run crazy sometimes. Sometimes a million is not enough per week but has no choice than to strategize on how to earn in billions, so we also have more billions per sqm than mainland. Probably of that guy taking a walk on the roadside in short being a billionaire is high and you'd never get to know, cos the very wealthy do not patronize the useless fashion trends.
Etc Etc ETc
Disadvantages: 1. Underground water is a salty, rusty mess. You cant drink from your borehole or bath with it, you must treat it. So, to have clean water, you need to prepare to install and OS machine. It set me back over 5m to install the system to have clean water to drink, bath and cook with. Cant even wash my expensive cars with the borehole water. So, the water plant installation is not enough, you have to backwash and service the machine every 3 months, at least for mine. So it is expensive to even have water.
2. Single Stretch of Road and Deadly drivers, since the mainland guys started moving here. The government needs to construct the coastal road to help us out.
3. Taxation: Electricity & Land Use Charge levies & taxations are high, but we can almost always handle.
4. Mosquitoes here have BSc in painful bite. Be ready to research for, and install world class net system to keep these organic landlords away. They can bite if you have them in your home.
5. Gated communities and loneliness: Talk about living in homes and you do not even know the name of your neighbor or even seen his face once in many years. I am known, but I doubt if I will ever know the neighbor that owns the house across the road opposite my residence. People are either too busy or too careless about what others do, and have no time to fuccking care who the next dog is, but people are mostly nice and would love to have a drink together, but we are almost always busy except we attend Estate meetings.
6. Criminal Staff; Seems most staff you hire come prepared to steal. Some things as simple as golden wares, silver spoons, kitchen towels etc seem very fanciful to domestic staff, who are mostly from poor neighborhoods, so we always have these items missing and have to kee replacing and one wonders if we are targetted by the nation of the poor.
More disadvantages too, that is why I have decided to move to Silicon Valley, California if Buhari wins. The last part made me laugh. If buhari wins... A lot of Yorubas want him to win. |

Hotfreeze: There's also a mall in Apapa where a Port also is.
People living there would cry as time goes on. When Trailers block that single FTZ Road and causes serious traffic, its a big problem.
There is a road called Coastal road stretching from Lekki to Ondo to Calabar. It's not done yet and they've not started. That would have helped too. Yeah,.. I have considered that traffic problem. The only solution to this is to decongestant Lagos by building another port in another state. |

The companies coming there won't still make it measure up to Phase 1 for instance. It would just be like Apapa.

Yoighaman: Nice post but let me add to it.
OP: Depends on where your office or business location is, it doesn't make sense working in Ikeja, Ogba or Egbeda and go live in Lekki 2, if you work in VI or Ikoyi, then it's ok to stay in Lekki 1 or 2 but you must consider its affordability since Yaba or Gbagada is equally near and affordable but since you plan to delve into more of offline business and target the Lekki/Ajah axis, then it's fine to stay within that vicinity, again costs matter, so work within a budget. Cheers. Thanks. I will work on that. |
