ironically, it was Rocha's selfish choice of Nwosu, his Inlaw, and the attendant consequences that destroyed that beautiful dream that would have been birthed through him post 2023. Rochas should have sacrificed his ego but that ego is what he should appease. By fate, circumstances, positioning and association, which Igbo presently alive would Nigerians have entrusted the presidency with post 2023 if not Okorocha? I just feel like slapping him right now.
You're right though.

OP he is not assisting anyone, he is investing his money to make profit.
Will he not create jobs for the host community?

Will allied businesses not spring up around the refinery?

Will access roads and other amenities not be built in the host community to facilitate refinery operations?

Will he not carry out CSR projects eventually?

The investment is a mutually beneficial one and there is no doubt the Imo community will benefit greatly from Abdulrazaq Isa's developmental strides.

The North is just playing kalo kalo with the south.

It's either the SS, or it goes North.
More realistically, it's either the SS, SW or the North (quite unlikely).

The SS and the North have no problems voting for the SW and vice versa as recent trends can prove.

a bloodless secession is possible. South Sudan did it.

Besides, no country would support the Nigerian state in this current political dispensation.

Migration of igbos back to the east is already ongoing wch is slow bt ongoing.

I like the current political atmosphere..it’s proving my point all along.
Bloodless? Sudan? Do you live under a rock? shocked

That would mean through the legislature even if it were true. Do you have a referendum clause in your constitution that will allow that?
PoliticsRe: Igbo Presidency Very Impossible- Okorocha by QuotaSystem: 4:44pm On Jun 13, 2019
zibya:
The problem with secession is that it involves war. Regardless of the ethnicity of the president, an attempt to break up the country will be countered with force afterall, no president would want his legacy to be the dismemberment of his/her country under his/her watch
Common sense also dictates that the only other way to secede asides war, is to modify the constitution to allow a referendum for secession, which requires a majority vote in the APC dominated National Assembly.

Need I say more?

“Power is not given, power is taken,” he said. “The South East cannot just fold their arms and expect power to be given to them just because you want power. Power does not go with sentiment some of the times, it’s on issues on ground.

“Democracy is about the people and the South East alone cannot make themselves president. So you cannot be talking about Igbo presidency, it doesn’t exist. We may be talking about Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction but that depends on what other geopolitical zones think about the issue.
So on point.

Democracy cannot be blackmailed or undermined; it remains a game of the majority of Nigerians.

Too bad some are prisoners of their own pride and hatred. The SS have proven politically smarter and more sophisticated by miles.

I foresee a SW - SS presidential race come 2023 smiley.

I will like to believe the OP has risen above such self-destructive sentimental behaviour.

TonyeBarcanista, what exactly is a "rubber stamp" senate?

One that does not frustrate the President's agenda?
One that does not deliberately delay confirmation of appointments?
One that does not intentionally delay budget passing for selfish partisan gain?

We agreed that as this is PMB's last tenure, therefore he should be allowed the latitude to operate devoid of legislative sabotage, as he must take responsibility for any success or failures this tenure records.

I will go as far as saying that as far as the core North is concerned, as long as Tinubu's choice of senate leadership is in alignment with PMB's choice, then we will support him with twice as much fury as the opposition in ensuring that there is minimal to ZERO legislative sabotage in this coming 9th assembly. No Joke.
Signed and delivered.

4. PDP Can Stop Ahmad Lawan SP Bid:

With forty three Senators-elect already, PDP need at least thirteen aggrieved APC Senators-elect to defeat Ahmad Lawan, the unpopular anointed of the APC for the Senate President seat. Already aggrieved APC Senators-elect like Uzor Kalu of Abia, Ali Ndume of Borno and Danjuma Goje of Gombe and their supporters have vowed to challenge for the seat in June and with the traditional secret ballot system of voting. I have no doubt that PDP would either produce someone among them as Senate President or endorse one of the aggrieved as PDP adopted candidate. I will see how Lawan will emerge Senate President or whether Adams Oshiomole will be able to rig him in.
I guess you overestimated your party bro.

Parade changed gear since 2015. That mistake could never have been repeated by PMB especially considering the stumbling block Saraki/Ekweremadu were to the Presidency. Well all's well that ends well. smiley

Hedonisst:
When I hear fools say that Buhari can determine who becomes presiding/principal officers in NASS, I just laugh. Stupid people also use Obasanjo as reference as to how he easily installed and uninstalled Senate Presidents during his first tenure.

You have to understand that 'eye never open' in that period. Nigeria's democracy was still 'nascent', and things were only beginning to take shape. You can't try that now. You can't impose a Senate President or Speaker in the name of enforcing "party discipline. It simply wouldn't work. At the appointed date, the legislators would elect whoever plays the game best as Senate President/DSP, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker. There's absolutely nothing the useless Buhari or greedy Tinubu can do about it.

If they try to use gestapo tactics by cordoning off the National Assembly with their useless DSS and police, and allowing only select lawmakers access to go in and elect the anointed candidates, that would be disastrous and would not stand. The pretenders so elected would be summarily impeached, and the NASS would be thrown into crisis.
That wasn't necessary at all. cool

Even PDP Senators voted the party's/Presidency's candidates through strategic politicking - no need for gra gra.

I hope we are all now wiser wink

The OP is right on point.

I watched the Senate proceedings in a gathering of distinguished Igbo intelligentsia and the raw bitterness they displayed at Omo-Agege's victory was just shocking.

I didn't even view it from the angle of SS betrayal initially until I stumbled on this and a similar thread on the board, because they had me convinced that their hardline opposition to Omo-Agege was because of his seemingly unpardonable satanic crime of snatching the mace.

An eye opener to the discerning really.

Middlemen reselling low quality China products that can be produced by arewa masses at better quality is what you're calling progress??
The essence of the post flew over your head unfortunately.

I was referring to the increase in purchasing power as undeniably reflected in the recent proliferation of shopping malls across northern cities in contrast to the picture painted daily by mainstream media. I gave a few examples to buttress.

That said, there are an appreciable number of indigenous Arewa products on offer such as high quality well packaged Kilishi & Dambun Nama (Beef Jerky) Baobab Powder (Kuka), processed Dates, Pure Honey, fine locally produced leather products & various locally bottled beverages amongst others. With better infrastructure, over time local content is bound to increase.

You can even buy some from your phone from Arewa online marketplaces like https://gizomarket.com & www.organicshub.com.ng (click on Arewa basket).

The Mudassirs of Kano making waves across the North...I laugh at those that are deluded into thinking El Rufai owns that famous brand.

The recent rise of shopping malls across the North from Ado Bayero Mall (Shoprite) to Jangwarzo, to AGG, to Muddasirs, to Sahad etc.are clear testaments to the emerging middle class in Arewa against the doomsday stories painted by the mainstream media.

Things are getting better smiley
