GboyegaD: Can you educate me more on the shipping process? What other items can one ship? How easy is it to clear at the port?
I use hont global in Houston for shipping. Great prices, even better customer service. All in one pricing, just drop and pick up. Clearing is not my business. If you contact them, ask for Mide (Houston) or Kenuwa (Lekki). Tell them Rad Auto referred you.
armyofone: Kirkland Costco me and them are not friends cuz I'm not a fan of their bulk buying I rarely look at the prices (make I no go and kil masef Sprout is a good place to shop if you have it or the equivalent in your area. I think it is low cost because products are not already packaged. You do the measurements yourself...you could buy drums of varieties of any grains in this world there .
So many grains! I saw millet, white and yellow semovita etc Maybe I can make Kunu
I bought arborio and carnatoli, black rice, red rice, wild rice, wheat Bailey, brown, jasmine, basmati, etc... Looked like I was just buying for buying sake cuz those stuff i bought will be there for eons.
cococandy: Different rice for different dishes for me. I don’t particularly have favorites as I find using the right/wrong rice will affect the result.
Jasmine for Asian fried rice dishes Parboiled rice for Nigerian fried & jollof rice Basmati for tomato stew. Also good for Nigerian jollof Sticky rice for sushi bakes, rice bowls or similar dishes Long grain for pilaf and also tomato stew.
co-sign 1,000% but the most versatile for me is long grain.
Not even close. I put it on a boat every so often. Only costs about 9-10 to ship. And after cracking my tooth severally on rice over there, I'm more than happy to pay it.
descarado: Army,I wanted to buy Kirkland jasmine rice but it's over the roof here. Seems like us and uk are fighting rofolofo price war. Anything from us is triple the price in this place. Well, bye to Kirkland rice, Nonsense and Kirkland
I ship this home on a regular basis. It's what my family eats in Nigeria.
cococandy: I dreamt of Nigerian food last night. Like correct authentic grandma style naija food. I woke up disappointed it was just a dream. If I weren’t grown up, I might have cried.
When I look at food blogs, I'm looking for stuff I don't see everyday to expand my horizons. The same thing I eat everyday over and over again defeats the purpose to me. It's the reason we don't serve Nigerian food at my restaurant except once in a blue moon. There are a million and one places (literally) that sell Nigerian food in Nigeria. I want my customers to taste something they would find hard to get anywhere else. A different palate. In the US, if I had a restaurant, it would be Nigerian because that's rarer.
I love Gboyega's posts because he tends to have creative twists, and I love Coco's because of the farm to table and presentation. Home made jam? GTFO!!
And for some of us, we make the same things whether in Nigeria or out. So does geography, ingredients, or country of origin dictate,? As far as Nigerian food, we get the exact same ingredients overseas as in Nigeria. This is 2024. Next time I'm in the Nigerian grocery store I'll take pictures.
Loving being able to cook somewhat now. Beef fajita tacos for me and chicken quesadillas for my son. Cheated on his and used frozen chicken fajita meat
Peterzoom20: See oppression. If you know you don't have hope of eating this night kindly avoid this thread before imagination finishes you and you're tempted to chew your phone. Just kidding, great array of meals you assembled here ma'am.
Blackened shrimp and salmon sandwiches with sweet potato fries, steak and eggs with strawberries and toast, Jamaican curry goat, seared Ahi tuna and scallop salad.
descarado: Protein overload. I used to drink black coffee back in the days as undergraduate. Became an addict and stopped. The withdrawal effect was something else Recently,I bought coffee but the urge is no longer there. Maybe, one day one day
Never know I will become a fan of mushroom. My favourite is enoki and shiitake. I prefer dry shiitake. I use enoki for noodles, it has that rubbery texture and can blend with noodles easily as they resemble. I am a fan of this lady since she started her youtube. See mushrooms. So many mushroom feasts. Her chanel make me try some stuffs I will ordinary not look at twice. She makes a feast everytime she cooks.
More from the way-back machine when I first got an air fryer oven. Herb roasted chicken with roasted garlic potatoes, roasted asparagus and roasted honey pepper carrots. All made at the same time in the fryer, took about 40 minutes.
