They told you I was in a rush?? They are mad. I was prepared to wait there. I was there from 11am till 4 already. I even told her I live not too far. In a rush as how? On a weekend?? I was prepared to wait.

Even the cost of the labour, she didn’t explain. She was expecting me to drop the car, pay for all that, then they will let me know the cost of what needs to be fixed. And I’m like, I won’t pay more than 400k and the issue hasn’t been addressed. So I left.

I’m NOT going to spend N6m on a “possibility”.
Understood. Thank you for coming in.

All these you’re saying now, they DID NOT mention. Perhaps it’s best to allow people that are knowledgeable in this line of business be at the front desk.

Which was why I didn’t even bother sending a message again
I checked the cameras and four different people tried to explain to you. I apologize if they were not clear.

Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by radautoworks: 8:48am On Aug 27, 2025
HeavenlyBang:
MTN has had a Fibre broadband service for quite a while now but is now quickly expanding its coverage. I looked into it at the start of the year, and was happy to see them finally begin rollout in my estate months ago.

Here's a rundown of all you need to know about the service.

This post is not sponsored and is just my own personal experience.

1. Installation begins in my area around April 2025. Poles are installed, with the Fibre device mounted on poles.

2. After access point installation, I reach out to MTN customer service about joining the program. Also even go to the nearest MTN office to inquire. They are unhelpful and provide no information on when the service will become active in my locale.

3. I see them installing the poles around the area in May and take the contact of a salesman. We keep in touch and he promises to let me know when service begins.

4. In early June he tells me service has begun. I verify from a friend at the MTN office. I pay for it in late June. 25k. NIMC servers go down nationwide. All forms of registrations are put on hold as a result and I'm unable to have a profile created. Not MTN's fault.

5. NIMC servers are fixed in late July. On July 30th I receive my FN ID. The very next morning, Thursday July 31st, I get a call for installation. Installation is done but installation is done wrongly and the inept technician lacks the tools to troubleshoot.

6. Monday August 4 I receive a call from MTN for activation. But activation cannot be done because installation was done incorrectly. Issue is escalated. On Tuesday morning I'm visited by four MTN engineers who come to troubleshoot. They figure out what the issue is and team lead asks the installer to come and fix it.

7. Wednesday afternoon my installation is fixed. I call for activation and by ~7pm the service is active.

Why do I outline the events? To give an idea of how MTN's customer service is. I was impressed. The only big issues I faced were:

- NIMC servers
- Bad installation initially (MTN does not provide their own installers, and this is actually outsourced)

Now for the important details.

1. MTN's FibreX is a fiber connection. A cable goes from the access point on a pole in your street, into your house. That, of course, means it's susceptible to more infrastructural issues. Poles may fall due to wind or anything, and access points may fail like all electronics eventually do. On the flip side, it's also a more stable service since it's not directly tied to signal reception I believe.

2. Installation is free. I only paid 25k for the 50mbps plan.

3. Availability is currently limited. As at the time of posting this on August 8 2025, MTN's FibreX is only available in 14 states. Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kaduna, Kwara, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Rivers. They are currently expanding, though. Two months ago it was only available in six states. It's also only available in select areas in these states. Typically the most high-brow areas where they're likely to have the most customers for a service like this.

4. You can confirm availability in your area using the MTN app. Just open FibreX, select new customer and plan you want, and all available locations are listed. It's not always up to date, though. My street hasn't been listed yet, for example.

5. There are currently five plans, defined by bandwidth.

20mbps - 15k monthly
50mbps - 25k monthly
100mbps - 50k monthly
150mbps - 60k monthly
300mbps - 100k monthly

And on to more technical information.

1. My Fibre X router is a ZTE F670L. It's not a particularly great router by most accounts, but that can be expected considering the fact that it's free. It also gets the job done.

2. The ZTE F670L lacks any sort of battery or backup power. And runs off a 12v 1A power supply. Ideally you need a steady power supply, or a power bank with a 12v output. Thankfully I have one from an older MTN router I bought. You can theoretically also buy a USB to 12v barrel connector cable and use with a regular power bank, assuming the power bank supports 12v output anyway.

3. The router interface is solid. Has all the necessary features including security controls, firewall and DNS settings with filters and the rest. There is no data usage page, however, but that's not really necessary seeing as FibreX is unlimited. Regrettably, my router does not pair with any of the ZTElink apps. I'm not sure if that's down to the router itself or modifications by MTN. Either way, you're stuck with just the standard web interface.

And on to speed
.

I'm on the 50mbps plan and Ookla's speed tests generally always give a dl of 47-55mbps, and ul of ~25mbps. Ergo, just as advertised. Idle ping is typically under 30ms.

I've not had my speeds drop at all, even in peak usage periods around 5-9pm. I should point out, though, that I'm probably one of the few people on the service in my area at the moment. Not sure if that's a factor.

So far I've been able to stream ~8GB 4K movie files off my RD service without any buffering. I'm happy with it. It's a significant upgrade on Airtel's 30k monthly 20mbps unlimited plan which I was using prior. Speed tests usually start off with dl speeds of up to ~150mbps before dropping to 50mbps as capped by my plan, so I believe anything up to the 60k for 150mbps plan should be fine. I'm not sure it can deliver 300mbps, though.

As for range, I've had no issues anywhere in my reasonably large apartment even on the 5GHz network.

Pictures attached below.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS

Since I know the parts to be fixed, omo na Ladipo straight with my mechanic.
I will reiterate, those are NOT the parts to be fixed. Those are the possible parts to be fixed since you wouldn't let us properly diagnose. You probably only need one or two. It may work better for you to take it to Ladipo and let them tear it down there and let you know which ones you need🤷🏾‍♀️

Okay, thank you. And I don’t think you have enough information about the ride I drive. W164 now uses M276 engine?? Lol, okay.

Let’s even assume the cost of a 2011 ML350 engine is N8m, doesn’t it make sense to you that a part costs N6m. I can as well just buy a new engine.

It’s like saying transmission is N2m, but to fix a part of the gear is N1.5m. Does that make any sense?
Yes, it does because a used engine of unknown origin versus new warrantied parts are NOT the same. Also, chances are when a proper teardown is done, only one or two parts are replaced, not the entire list.
Car Talk › Re: Feedback On Rad Autoworks by radautoworks:
Valtteri:
Well, I was at Radautoworks this morning, and I can’t say I’m impressed.

They first billed me N43k to scan my car and bring up the same codes I already showed them when I got there.

Okay, after explaining the codes, they sent me bill just to “open up the engine and reinstall it” to “inspect”. That’s over N350k without solving the issue oh.

I told them I will not just pay any amount without even knowing what the cost of repairs is first. After wasting hours of my time there, they sent me the bill to have the camshaft and timing chain replaced. Over N6m. Not for engine oh. Camshaft and timing chain. For a 2011 ML350.

How much is engine? How much is the car? cheesy

Una never ready.
So I'm going to step in here and comment. First off, the staff broke the cardinal rule of giving a quote without an engine teardown because you didn't want one and were in a rush. It is impossible to give you an accurate quote without finding out exactly what's wrong internally. So they gave you a guess-timate which was overly broad which you demanded since it is easier to give you a lower quote when you are ready, than a higher one. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT no matter how much pressure they were under.

That being said, it is standard practice to charge for a teardown in a case like this. The cost of the tear down is deducted from the cost of repair. The only time you pay for the tear down is if you choose not to repair the car. Without being allowed to fully diagnose your car, that's all I can really tell you. Had I been present, I would not have given a quote at all as I had nothing to accurately base a quote on. I was livid when I saw the quote, but because you blocked us, I had no way to reach you.

Hopefully that makes things clearer. The quote is completely useless and they got an earful from me.

Time to make another bucket of Jamaican jerk seasoning. Going to take about six of these for a bucket. Obviously not all ingredients shown😃

Ready to use, but let the longer I let it cut, the better it gets. Ideal cure time is six months 😁
Brought the jerk with me to Naija and jerked for the third time for the family by request. Apparently they missed this😊

Jerk chicken, dumpling with gravy and callalloo (tete).

yeah etouffee is only made with onions, green pepper, celery and herbs. Any additional veggies would have to be made as a side.
Food › Re: Cook In Your Kitchen, Take Pictures And Post It Here. SIMPLE! by radautoworks:
Craving some shrimp etouffee. Will post recipe and finished pic later.

Peel and devein your shrimp.

Chopped celery, onion and green pepper into equal portions. If you're dealing with somebody who doesn't like vegetables in their food (my son), chop them really small. Or you can use a blender blend almost to paste. Also chop some garlic.

Put some ghee, oil, or butter in a pot or pan along with some flour over medium heat and continuously stir until it stops foaming and changes color to Brown.

As the chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, garlic and thyme, stir and let it all get soft. Add your creole seasoning, (if you don't have, look at the bottom of this post for how to mix your own), salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder (if you have) and paprika to taste.

Add in your shrimp, fish or chicken stock. It will look like it's clumping, but as you stir ,it will release and become smooth. Put a little stock at a time until you get the thickness you want. Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce.

Reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer uncovered for 15 to 30 minutes. Occasionally check and stir so that it doesn't stick on the bottom. If you want, you can also add some chopped parsley, tomatoes and green onion.

Taste and make sure all the flavors are balanced, then add your shrimp just until it turns pink. Finish! chop am with rice.🙂

Finally got around to it. Jamaican curry chicken with rice, salad and fried plantains.

Chop onions, green peppers, red peppers, garlic and Scotch bonnet peppers or any other very hot pepper.

Mix well with the chicken and season with salt, black pepper, seasoned salt, thyme (fresh thyme preferred ), Jamaican curry powder( my preferred brand is jcs reggae country, but Blue mountain a close second).

Let it sit for at least an hour

Heat whatever grease you like. (I used ghee this time)

Separate the chopped veg from the chicken, add some curry powder and saute on medium heat until soft.

Add the chicken, then water and/or coconut milk and bring to a boil. I like to add water to the bowl I marinated the chicken with and use it to clean all the marinade into the food.

Once it comes to a boil, add peeled chopped Irish potatoes if you want to, cover and lower to medium heat for 20-5 minutes or until the chicken is so tender it falls off the bone.

Eat 😄
