Religious Battle Looms In Ibadan
y Gbenro Adesina/Ibadan
Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, may be the next theatre of inter-religious violence. Already, certain leaders of the two major religions, Islam and Christianity, have started swapping threats. In mosques across the city, Muslims have been circulating tracts alleging that Christians have been demonising Islam and if this is not checked, said prominent Muslims, it could result in the burning of churches, killing and maiming of Christians, especially pastors and founders of churches.
Dr. Amoo Dauda of Oyo State Chapter of National Council of Muslim Youth Organisation, NACOMYO, said: "We are warning Christians. Enough of this rubbish. We don't want religious confrontation in the state. There can't be peace where there is no respect for others." He called on the government to stop the circulation of a film, Take Heed, produced and marketed by Christ Chosen Vessels Dance Drama Ministry, aka Alfa Sule in Ibadan.
Take Heed, he said, contains messages considered offensive to Muslim sensiblities because they misrepresent Islam. http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/threads/religious-battle-looms-in-ibadan.49078/
MUSLIM FATHER ACCUSED OF KILLING DAUGHTER FOR CONVERTING TO CHRISTIANITY IN IBADAN
A father has been held by the police in Oyo State for allegedly killing his daughter, Miss Kausara Isiaka because she ditched Islam for Christianity.
The deceased’s father is accused of complicity in the attack of Calvary Church where she attended at Ayekale in Ibadan during a church service. It was gathered that late Kausara’s father was estranged from her following her conversion, and it is believed that he was behind the mystery attack of the church during which his daughter was killed.
Reverend Daniel Oladimeji of the church who was among those attacked alleged that the arrested suspect was the mastermind.
Shedding light on the case, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor, said that one Mary Oladimeji, of Calvary Church, Ayekale, Ibadan reported the incident at the station on February 26th 2014 around 2 am.
Though, the police are yet to determine the culpability or otherwise of the suspect, the suspect was alleged to have sneaked into the church premises and inflicted machete cuts on his victims namely: Mary, Kausara Isiaka, Aanu and the pastor of the church.
It was further gathered that the father of the deceased who is a Muslim, had pleaded with his daughter to review her decision. When the daughter refused, he had followed up the pleadings with threats.
The police stated that the girl had to take refuge in the church.
But, on that fateful day, the yet-to-be identified attacker broke in and inflicted machete injuries on the victims while they were sleeping.
Out of the four victims, the police confirmed that her injuries were more severe than others.
All the victims were rushed to Mobolaji Hospital, Oremeji, Ibadan where Kausara later died.
DSP Ilobanafor said: “the police visited the scene, took photographs and moved the remains of the deceased to Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary for autopsy. One suspect was arrested and the case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department”. Balderdash Oshisco |

Akwasi: I perfectly know what you are talking about....
Mine happened in 2012 one very hot afternoon. I was passing by a very tiny shop. I fact the shop was nearly empty and I would not have taken notice of it but for the fact that the owner was reading a Bible.
I greeted her as I intended to pass. Well, I remembered I needed a PK to keep my mouth fresh as I had just taken my lunch. I decided to buy from her since she was reading a Bible(that was the only reason why I decided to buy from her).
Unfortunately however, she was not having the minty blue one. She was having the traditional yellow wrapper one. Too bad she doesn't have what I need. I will have to buy from another place. That's when it happened.
As clear as a friend talking to me, I heard the gentliest of voices very audibly tell me "Buy it".
I quickly turned to see who it was. I just smiled because nobody was standing behind me to have made that comment.
I went to the woman, told her GOD wants ne to buy the PK although its not my preference. She smiled and gave me the PK. I paid her and asked her to keep the change.
What happened just blew me away! When I opened the PK, instead of the usual white colored gum that I just bought, I rather found a blue colored PK inside the yellow wrapper! Instantly I began to cry. This doesn't happen often and I was overwhelmed that of all the people in the world, it was me that GOD chose to reveal HIMSELF to.
I turned one more time and waved the woman. I didn't bother to go back to tell her what happened because I already knew she had a faith bigger than mine.
So yes GOD still speaks and reveals HIMSELF! ;DBuy it kwa? Did God speak engrish to you too? |

Ioannes: Hmmmmm... I remember this story as one my mom would tell us when we were kids.
But I remember the ending differently though.
The ending went something like this;
An effigy made in the form of a man painted with dripping sticky black tar and planted in the middle of the market.
When he had succeeded in driving away the marketers again as usual, he came out to pack all the foodstuffs. As he was making the rounds from some market stall to the other, packing food, he noticed the effigy and thought it was a man!
He was first shocked, then he proceeded to harass the man. He did his usual dance and sang his usual song, but of course the effigy wouldn't bulge.
The tortoise was furious, he dropped his load and moved closer. After a little of of cussing at the "man" and some threats as to how he, the tortoise would beat him to a pulp, he landed a dirty slap on the cheek of the effigy. His hand became stuck to the tar!
Tortoise was furious, with the other free hand he landed another slap. A kick here and a kick there, he became glued to the effigy.
The following morning the market men and women came to the market expecting their goods to have been carted away as usual, but were shocked when they saw Ijapa, tortoise hanging from the effigy.
They mocked him from sunrise to sunset, making fun of him, throwing insults as well as stones at him.
The king sentenced him to death and the people decided to burn him with the effigy since he was stuck and couldn't be pulled off.
So, in the evening, they mounted the effigy bearing the tortoise on a pile of wood and set fire to it and they all retired for the night.
The heat started licking the bumbum of Mr tortoise as the fire grew. But as the fire grew, the tar melted, until Mr tortoise finally found himself free and unharmed. He escaped blah blah blah... Fill in the rest yourselves... Ayam tired. No You must continue sir |
Islam › Re: Saying sadaqa Allâhul-azeem After Reciting the Qur’ân Is Bid'ah – Ibn Uthaymeen by Raintaker(m): 8:35pm On Mar 02, 2017 |
Empiree: @shawl, this is what one of their brothers said regarding "radiaAllahu anhu". Now don't sufisee have this type of ideas and why is theirs exception and sufi'so bidah?. It is double standard indeed. That was how an ahlu sunna mentioned in one khutbat Jum'a that answering our praisinng our ancestral lineage(oriki) is bid'ah and not part of Islam. He said once you are muslim, you are no longer omo ikoyi esho or whatever. He really trashed the yoruba cultural values and upheld the Arabians.
See double standard?. He said it's "intellectually alright". But when their 'oppositions' intellectually said or practice something it is bidah. FANTASTIC!
How is this intellectually okay but saying sadaqaAllahul azeem in bidah and 'intellectually' retarded?. Auzubillah.
Sufis however do not go against these mustahab practices like quran competetion, walimot quran etc bcuz they understood these things are meant for improving our lives |
