jesmond3945: yea they are many of them in oil industry. The oil industry is the highest employer of Engineers in Nigeria. In the power sector there are engineers as well but corruption there is too much. The oyibo contractors downgrade our engineers to technicians because they feel we are not capable. Just like what is happening in Dangote refinery That is precisely what I am saying, they can get employed, but as technicians, pay might be good, but it sucks. |

jesmond3945: why is engineering useless Do you know any practicing Nigerian engineer, not a lecturer or a technician, an actual engineer, I studied Electrical Engineering, and I can tell you PHCN/NEPA has not employed a Nigerian Engineer to occupy the same role since the 70s, 99% of companies in Nigeria who employ engineers employ them as technicians. |

Makavelli25: As it is almost time for jamb to give admission this year, the portal for change of institution and course is still open for those who wish to have a change in their course.
Well let me put it this way, this thread is for you to comment the course you think is a bad idea for anyone to study.
Consider job opportunities and the future, will the course still be relevant in 20,10 years time.
Mine - Zoology (especially if you want to base in NIGERIA) just change it before its too late. You can change to ANY OTHER AGRIC COURSE The question should be what course can you advice a jambite to study, because there aren't many, stay away from engineering, it is useless in Nigeria, useful courses 1. Medicine 2. Pharmacy 3. Building 4. Agricultural science 5. Banking |

CyberEBOLA: NOBODY IS GOING TO HELL OR HEAVEN! WAKE UP!
Anyway, where were you before your parents had sex? That should answer the question.
At death, we simply stop existing! Okay, so your arguments is that because we don't remember what happened before our birth there isn't heaven or hell? That is a very stupid way to analyze anything, and I am speaking purely scientifically here. My question to you now is "do you remember anything about when you were 6 months old or 1 year old"? And I am sure you don't, does that mean you did not exist at that age? I am not the most religious human on earth, not even in my building, but I am sure there is a life after death, don't deceive yourselves with unscientific facts based on bigotry towards Religion . |

mdan: It's widely known that love alone, is not enough to keep a family standing. There are other factors contributing to a healthy marriage of which respect, loyalty, money etc are involved.
Now, in a situation where a wife earns more than the husband, will there be respect?
And if there is, how long can a woman keep up before she starts acting weird?
For the ladies do you think it's an issue earning higher than your husband? This is a dumb topic. |

Where is the lawsuit? Correct me if I am wrong, I know only high level details of the case, but I do remember seeing something like that flying around, the one he asked for 100million, if that case is filed in a court of law, the police is supposed to pick up the accused immediately and can hold them for up to a period of 24 hours legally |

He should go to court to prove his innocence/get compensation for his besmirched name. Excuse me, what do you mean by intimidation, are you saying you will prefer for him to do nothing? This is the issue with rape cases, I wish she had reported to the police before going on a social media rant. If you say things about someone else, things that can defame them, they are allowed have you arrested. If that is what Dbanj has done, I don't see anything wrong.
It is unfortunate that we only come out to show solidarity when rape cases involve celebrities, or only when victims have met their ultimate end, I honestly wish we could take more of these cases and be as vocal, then we shall truly see changes. |

Xchangemadeeasy: I hope this is true because that guy deserves an award for standing his ground and its something I personally would do.
When people want to get married, they should be responsible for their cost and expenses. If any family member or friends wants to help or support, it's simply out of their own volition and not compulsion whatsoever.
Some people would just have this entitlement spirit that is really annoying. Your husband earns 70k, maybe his net would fall back to 45k after removing transport and other expenses.
The poor guy is probably thinking of how to keep his family in shape planning with the little he has and someone somewhere believes he should donate his nothing less than three months savings to an adult who is not capable of carrying his own responsibility all in the name of in-laws and marriage.

People tend to make the most irrational decisions or take stupid actions when they're too emotional or heartbroken. Crystalom3: Hello Everyone
I have a little problem and it's really killing me.
As almost is a custom in our house, you don't get a phone until you're out of secondary school.
Lately, my little sister has been begging me for my phone to use. Sometimes for Facebook, sometimes for assignments or just browsing and stuffs.
But the problem is, she's always searching for porn. She's 17 now. I don't know if it's out of curiosity or if she's addicted to it.
Everytime I get my phone from her and I check the browser history, I'll see Google search for 'porn' 'pornography' and then website clicks.
She also searches for lesbian porns with many click through.
I don't know if she's just curious or if I should be concerned. I've stopped giving her my phone even though she do ask for it sometimes.
I've thought about talking to her but I really don't know where to start or how. We lost both of our parents already and are staying with my uncle and his wife and I don't really want to talk to the wife about this.
Please any advice? To be honest with you, I don't see the issue, please let the girl be, else she will be embarrassed and never speak to you about anything. Even if you have to speak to her, which I don't suggest, you should laugh about it, but at the same time caution her. However, I wouldn't do it, any kid at that age is curious, I am sure you also did, with magazines or Nollywood movies, so just let the girl rest. |

Farki: The President gave an order which they are disregarding.
Nigerian soldiers still have to follow the rules of the country. That's why the soldiers that freed Wadume were asked to be turned over to police custody, that's why a Nigerian General was arrested for money laundering, there's a case of a Nigerian military official in a legal battle over property with his wife is it a court martial that will handle that?
Being a soldier doesn't grant immunity from the law, it brings added limitations and freedoms. Military code of conducts are often designed to mirror the law of the society they protect, but it isn't the same, civil judges or lawyers cannot proceed over military matters or officers, only in exceptional cases. And because the military c of c are often alike to the civil laws people think it is the same, no it isn't, the order by the president excludes essential workers which I believe the military is part of, for government employees to now put them in the way of danger because of a law that don't apply to them is unacceptable, and they are allowed to do almost anything to get out of the situation |

Farki: So a soldier can rape your wife or daughters and get away with it because they aren't ruled by the same law?
Because when the FG gives an order and they say to hell with that they are basically saying the President's authority is useless. If you've read my comments previously you will see that I said it is only the president that has command over the military, and even the oath says the same thing, and yes if a soldier rapes a civilian he is tried by a different laws from the one that civilians are tried, they have a different system of governance basically, they have code and conducts, and every military man or woman has to abide by the rules, I don't know why that makes you feel bad |

It is only hard for people who think the military is above the law. I do understand what you are saying, but like what I have been trying to explain to someone else, there is absolutely no time to do that, what if there was a sucide bomber amongst the crowd, they make the best decisions on the spot to ensure they don't get casualties, crowd control is a big deal amongst officers |

Farki: There was an order given which they disregarded so people could troop in. The order wasn't for them but the civilians.
Threatened to kill civilians which is a war crime.
Rammed through a checkpoint killing a policeman and injuring others.
Yet you're telling me no law was violated.
I swear Nigerians are a special breed of stupid. In active war zones like Borno, soldiers cannot risk having crowds of civilians around them, the soldiers are not mad, they must have been stopped by the officials for them to act like that. It will be hard to make a case against the military in this situation. |
