Adichie was more or less unknown to Americans before Beyonce happened to her. You'd also become influential if Beyonce happens to you.

The president of Nigeria would make decisions that would have a significant effect in Nigeria and in the States than whatever your writer of fiction ever will. That is how ''influence'' is defined.
