Politics / Re: Is Oshiomole Bankrupting Edo State? by ranlaen: 10:14pm On Feb 15, 2012 |
jason123:it is up to the people of edo to decide if they are happy been dragged into huge debts taken from banks for a fountain and a dualization of the road but fact remains this debts do exist(the government itself has not hidden the amount and even listed the banks it was taken from) and it will have to be paid . What you need to ask was a fountain and a dualization of a overbloated 8 km road worth it when the time comes to pay and where will the funds come from. Defaulting does not work nowadays ,if that is the solution some think to it as no new industry to make exra income has come from this excessive burrowing. I warned Nigerians over GEJ and i am now warning against Adams. But if the people decide to re elect him then its up to them and will have to live with his legacy simple as that. edo state already has one of the highest poverty/unemployment in the south. |

gaddafe:wait till the banks demand payment on the huge debt he has given the state its actually easy to check the state debt for those who bother to find out and not bury their heads in the sand thinking creditors will forget the 50b debt. |

Donbrig:You exchange one medicore governor in lucky for another in adams. Its good to be governor of Edo state burrow 50 billion naira build an overbloated dual carriage way in a 8km stretch and a fountain and people are happy. Most in this state do not even remember what running water is like and the chief source of employment is been an agbero |

unrattled:the aim is to make people aware of the debt he has created for the state ,to be popular in edo is not hard as long as you can shout and speak the thugs and market women way. After all people were celebrating when lucky was first elected |

upnefa:Funny simply check my posts will show you i supported Buhari in last election ,unless he was a pdp candidate but thats besides the point . Nothing wrong in pointing out how a poor state is about to inherit a huge debt after this man is done with it. Fact remains he has added a whooping 46b naira to the state debt with no new industry to show for it which is what is needed to pay for this debt. |
Politics / Re: With Just 2.2m, Sunday Will Have Been Alive by ranlaen: 6:26pm On Feb 15, 2012 |
I was raised to believe human life is priceless but society has shown me that is not true sadly. Worth of a life to the government in Nigeria is actually zero naira ,they will just replace him with the 10s of millions of unemployed. |
Politics / Re: Sgt Sunday Badang Died In The Bomb Blast At Ungwar Sarki In Kaduna by ranlaen: 6:21pm On Feb 15, 2012 |
sad part is he was probably following orders even. Poor training is not his fault but the fault of the corrupt NP that just send you out there with little training. Good luck finding any more police officers who will dare come near a suspicious package again they will probably toss a grenade on it from now on |

50b naira debt.edo state was indebt for 4b naira when he got into office so he has kept the state in an extra 46b naira so far and counting on un needed project in one of the poorest states in the south with high unemployment and almost no industries. So how will using all that money on a water fountain or dualization of a road pay the extra debt added ? i am sure some of the supporters here will answer that . Over bloated pointless projects that makes a poor state more bankrupt, giving the illusion of "worthy" projects just to steal money |
Politics / Is Oshiomole Bankrupting Edo State? by ranlaen: 1:09pm On Feb 15, 2012 |
He has acquired more state debt then lucky ,spent over 2 years building a 8km stretch road that takes EU countries under 20-24 weeks on average to build a 5mile road. This is a flat road(ie no mountains or steep slope like in many eu countries) and was already pre existing.Average cost of building a fresh road in china is $1.3m a mile and in the EU $2-4m a mile for a dual carriageway. Note this is for fresh roads that require total new levelling and lanscape before actual surfacing with new drainage.Airport road already existed in some form as a single carriage road .This is a road which was one of the few not to have any major potholes as compared to most other roads in benin that has totally collapsed espically in the once pride of benin GRA. He has spent what is offically between 6-8 billion naira which is about $53m .Considering the average cost of building a road in EU with high labour cost, costly permits, slopes and a fresh road from scratch is $2-4m a mile then a 5mile which is is little over 8km should cost under $20m at best. Here is an article showing how the man is planning to leave the state in the total red http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/75814/1/edo-state-who-will-save-the-heartbeat-of-the-natio.html |

Politics / Anyone Still Supports Gej? by ranlaen: 11:52am On Feb 15, 2012 |
In under 1 year this man has shown himself to be so clueless and resides over one of the most corrupt government in history as Nigeria is dragged further down the poverty line. So the question here where are all the huge supporters he had on this forum during the election? Is there anyone still able to justify his regime? |

Politics / Time To Decentralize Nigeria Economy. by ranlaen: 2:32pm On Feb 14, 2012 |
When travelling to see friends and family around Nigeria recently i noticed how the level of poverty is so widespread and the states look barren . for instance on a trip to the ancient city of Benin most side roads are totally broken while the government builds a dual carriage road . Unemployment is very high and the state industry is non existant .Its not unique to edo state though just an example . Problem is the governors just sit and wait for the yearly allocation of funds to blunder mismanage etc and then throw a small carrot out. Well how about this make each state responsible for its own revenues period. No oil sharing money . Let there be a grace period in which the share of oil revenues per state decrease gradually over 5 yr period and then cease. Then implement federal taxes on each state as a source of federal revenue with non oil state having the least to give it time to boost new industries. That way states will be forced when they know there be no oil share coming up anymore to rebuild its industries. And that can only be better for nigeria as a whole. If you look at some of the best countries to live in the world they have no oil or gas, australia ,holland, etc. We need to make states wake up and build their industries there is not one state in nigeria not capable of a strong agriculture .There plenty of options for manufacturing ,mining list goes on. |
Politics / Re: Thief Obasanjo - he wrecked Nigeria and stole $200bn by ranlaen: 2:21pm On Feb 14, 2012 |
well prior to the 1999 era of OBJ naira indeed sold for about 130-140 naira to the £. You can argue offical rates all you wanted but try getting anything by strolling into the bank . However OBJ government continued the same tradition of mis management and looting which is still present in GEJ. But we need to break this cycle of corruption truth be told i don't think Nigeria can take anymore of this punishment. |
Politics / Re: Oshiomole Ordered The Arrest Of A Retired General Live On TV by ranlaen: 2:03pm On Feb 14, 2012 |
what do you want when you make a thug your governor? problem is he is exactly like 90% of the state population - thugs. He is as bad as lucky and people are just too blind because he goes and shouts in rallies for market women and they are all too ignorant to know better. |
Business / Re: Nigerian Banks: I Think Gtb Is The Most Customer-friendly! by ranlaen: 5:32pm On Feb 03, 2012 |
I used other banks in past and GTB is certainly the easiest and most organised despite its high number of customers. I spent 6 months abroad and 6 in nigeria and you can so easily move money ,check and bank online and if there any trouble phone them and get a fast answer and actual solution. |
Agriculture / Re: Catfish Farming: My Story by ranlaen: 5:29pm On Feb 03, 2012 |
Actually like anything in life its good to know your fish.Catfish are bottom feeders which makes them pretty easy to feed. My uncle owns a pond and stocks catfish and makes slender profit simply because he feeds them imported stuff and also makes the mistake of not cleaning the pond regularly. You can basically feed them almost anything and yes that includes left overs but if u have to be careful to keep the pond clean and fresh water 2 times a week or so .Once a week if you got a air filter and pump but commerical ones are pretty expensive. The size of your catfish is also very dependant on the type too, there are some catfish that grow to 50kg but those need acres of water space. 1 Like |

boko haram is a symptom NOT a disease. any lost revenue is lost to the thieves in power and would never have made it to the nation. boko haram exist because of the numerous poverty stricken youths running around caused by many years of corruption. |

firstly, nothing new .secondy, they will only attack nigeria if a president is elected or takes over that does not favour their policies. they have GEJ in there who is perfect for them .so why should they want to bomb.nigeria was bought and paid for years ago and all its doing is performing for them as a good prostitute should. |

so his only achievement in 3 years is to add a fountain and build a 2 mile stretch of road which was not even in bad shape before while 80% of other road in benin are rubbish. ok he might not be as bad as lucky the thief but he is yet another useless and clueless governor. to be honest to me benin city looks as poor as ever each time i visit it. reason he appeals to people there is he speaks the tune that market women and agberos like which sadly makes up 75% of the state, even though they are as poor as ever. |
