The soldier accused the driver of endangering the lives of passengers in a commercial bus (Danfo) in which he was riding. He ordered the Danfo driver to chase the Lagbus bus vehicle and block it on top of the bridge on the Marina. The soldier snatched a cane from some motor unionists in the area, and jumped into the Lagbus vehicle. He whipped the Lagbus driver, Idowu Kolawole, on the head repeatedly with the cane and dug his boots into the driver’s side. Shocked passengers inside the BRT bus appealed to the soldier to stop beating the driver. The passengers, however, said the Danfo driver was at fault. They said the Danfo driver, who had stopped illegally to pick passengers, moved abruptly forcing the BRT bus coming behind him to swerve sharply to avoid hitting the bus and other vehicles. A female passenger said: “It was the Danfo driver that was at fault. If the BRT driver had not swerved, he would have hit the bus and some of the passengers would have been injured. He did what he could to avert trouble yet he was punished." Kolawole said: “The man just used his power on me. If he had been inside the Lagbus vehicle and witnessed what the Danfo driver did, he would have jumped down to beat the driver. The driver did not watch the road before he moved so I was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the car on the fast lane on my left. Because of him, the soldier beat me and even used his boot to kick my side. Unfortunately, I did not see his (the soldier’s) name well enough to identify him." http://www.dizboy.com/2017/03/soldier-flogs-lagbus-driver-with-cane.html?m=1 |
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-41RjIpqsFNQ/WLhhH7JpbAI/AAAAAAAAGtQ/nb7GXaaHGU8/%25255BUNSET%25255D.jpg Zimbabwe's High Court has outlawed corporal punishment for children both at school and in the home. The ruling comes after a parent complained that her child in grade one, a class for six-year-olds, had deep bruises after a beating by a teacher. Linah Pfungwa said her daughter had been punished for failing to have her reading book signed by guardians as proof she had done her homework. The constitutional court will have to confirm the judgement. The BBC's Shingai Nyoka in the capital, Harare, says if upheld, it would transform the way parents have disciplined their children for centuries in the country. Some parents are criticising the ruling, while rights groups say it is long overdue. http://www.dizboy.com/2017/03/zimbabwe-bans-beating-of-children.html?m=1 |

The singer was arraigned before the censorship court in Kano for allegedly violating the state’s censorship board law which requires that a songs or movies should pass a censorship screening before it is released. Sadiq released his song before the approval of the censorship board. The chairman Kano state censors board, Ismaila Afakallahu, confirmed that Sadiq will remain in prison till Friday. “The sitting took place today and Sadiq was asked to be remanded in prison until Friday when the court will resume hearing on the case,” he said. “Yes he actually brought the song for censorship and before we can grant him a certificate of approval, he went ahead to launch the song. For doing that he has faulted the censors’ board rule and we are charging him for that. Censoring a movie or song can take up to three weeks or more depending on the complexity of the song or film," he added. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/arts-entertainment/music/224976-court-sends-kano-musician-prison-new-song.html |

Quadri of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has sentenced a 55-year-old female pilgrim, Binuyo Basirat Iyabo, to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour. She was caught last September while smuggling 76 pellets of cocaine to Medina, Saudi Arabia. In his judgment, Quadri said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others. Besides, he said the hard labour was added to the sentence because the convict failed to reveal the identity of her sponsors. Binuyo tested positive to narcotic ingestion at the Abuja airport, while on pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia last September. She was immediately placed under observation, where she excreted 76 pellets of cocaine. NDLEA commander at the Abuja airport, Hamisu Lawan, said the convict, married with three children and a trader at Dosumu market in Lagos, in her statement, agreed to smuggle the drugs for a fee. “I wanted to expand my cosmetic business but I have no money. My sponsor offered to foot my expenses to Saudi on pilgrimage. I was excited until I was asked to take drugs along. I wanted to decline but considering the offer of N1m, I accepted,” she stated. http://www.dizboy.com/2017/02/hajj-pilgrim-who-excreted-76-wraps-of.html?m=1 |

The incident happened on February, 1, 2017 when the truck conveying 45,000 litres of diesel from Delta State was hijacked after they hit the truck pilot with a hammer at the back of the head and threw him into a ditch. As at yesterday, the operatives had arrested 23 people directly involved in the attempted murder of Tunji Ajayi, the representative of Samsuat Petroleum, the diversion, buyers and sub-buyers of the products. Sources revealed that Gbenga Akinboyewa (33) and Obinna Ofunue (29) were recruited by a syndicate in connivance with the driver of the diesel truck, Amara (now at large) to eliminate Tunji Ajayi. The syndicate, led by Chibueze Nnamdi, a building materials dealer in Ore, Ondo State, Edwin Ozor, Oluchukwu and one Shedrach, now at large, had raised N800, 000:00 to pay for the services of those engaged in the course of the diesel diversion. Those equally arrested in connection with the attempted murder and diesel diversions were: Sadiku Ganinu, Oluchukwu Oyema and Gbenga Aliyu. Meanwhile, the operatives have also uncovered that the same syndicate had sometime last week facilitated the disposal off 410 bags of flour believed to belong to Dangote Flour" the buyer of the flour, Rabiu Bello was arrested in Ogun State. Others involved in the flour deal and arrested by the operatives included: Chigozie Obi, Feranmi Michael and Adedeji Kehinde. http://www.dizboy.com/2017/02/rrs-nabs-12-highway-hijackers-who.html?m=1 |

Mr. Obasanjo stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta. While reflecting on the Buhari administration since 2015, Mr. Obasanjo said that the president had done his best to move the country forward. “Whatever anybody says, President Buhari has not disappointed me from what I know of him,” he said. He said the president had delivered on his core areas of strength and ability, particularly in the anti-corruption crusade and the war against insurgency. “In my book, I have said that Buhari is not strong on the economy and I did not write this to run him down. I also used to think that he is not strong in the area of foreign affairs, but I have realised that he has improved very well. He has actually done his best in the areas where we know him to be strong,” he said. http://www.dizboy.com/2017/02/buhari-has-not-disappointed-me-obasanjo.html?m=1 |
