ifeci:
U see nothing wrong with the bolded huh? Did u proof read your write up b4 posting it? How about arresting the cabal and sponsors of Boko haram? GEJ get strength only where the harmless and unarmed are, he will kill the unarmed not Boko haram and he will arrest Bakare not the cabal. this is just the beginning of his end.
You found it convenient to take the first part of my statement and twist it to suit your agenda.Well good luck, but let it be known that Bakare is not above the law,he breaks it,he gets arrested. This is reality

As a pleasant digression, its a good thing the strike has been called off, there are yet more bold decisions the FG needs to take to put Nigeria on the path to true greatness,I pray God almighty to give Mr President the courage to take those decisions.

There's still more room for some more inductees

We understand the politics Mr Fashola is playing,if he does not speak out this way, some people will use it to haunt him for the rest of his stay as governor and even beyond, however some of us know what went down before the soldiers were drafted and we commend Mr Fashola for being very reasonable lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Another set inductees are;

Aminu Tambuwal and the crowd of clowns he leads in the house of reps, for hurriedly convening a session of the lower chamber to pass a resolution that govt should revert the pump price of fuel to N65(knowing that this will be sweet music to the ears of gullible and very gullible Nigerians) without passing any resolution(s) on any cut in any of their many illegal and criminally bloated allowances

@ Beaf hatersfans,

Its not just enough to hurl abuses at beaf without responding to most of his points,for instance,the points he listed,to wit;
*True federalism, let the states be more autonomous, control their resourcess and pay tax to the centre(this will encourage competetion and the spirit of enterprise, lazy state governors will sit up since there will no longer be free oil money, each state would have to woo investors and explore whatever resources are buried in the sub strata in their states)
*Abrogation of the land use act,hmm the draconian land use act
*Full deregulation of all sectors of the economy(including the petroleum sector;whether up or downstream;this will of course ultimately see the end of the NNPC as the concept was even fraudulent from inception)
*Diversification of the sources of income of the country

The above points are very salient and there are politcal leaders in certain parts of the country that would rather see Nigeria burn than allow the above to happen, for instance just a step towards deregulation that Mr President took,so many of these polticians started sponsoring all manner of things to undermine the govt

Please lets have more points, issues based discussion here, its more intelligent to do it that way than just log in to nairaland, abuse people and log out
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Orders Arrest Of Bakare, Falana, Melaye, Others by rasputinn(m): 10:52am On Jan 16, 2012
GEJ never ordered the arrest of any of the afforementioned persons,he only tasked the security chiefs to checkmate any unscrupulous character(s) from exploiting the protest for their cheap political gain. The security folks may know something we dont,so I say we allow them do their work,of course I'm more than confident that GEJ is a democrat and pro rule of law, also do we expect the securitymen to just fold their hands if they have reason to believe that the above mentioned fellows have been compromised or that they're up to no good?

If Bakare,or indeed any Nigerian is arrested by the any of the security outfits, there's nothing wrong with that, they should however question the suspects to clarify whatever it was that made them arrest them, this should be done within the constitutionally stipulated time frame and if there is nothing the security folks are ready to charge them to court with, then they should free them within 24hrs

All the venting of spleen and noise on nairaland wont amount to anything eventually, for all you know Falana is going over his next brief,Melaye presently gathering more evidence against Dimeji and Bakare is in his office compiling a list of those he calls bastards that have hijacked the treasury of LASG

Et tu Maradona  shocked shocked shocked
IBB should be in the hall of shame

Pray tell, how many years did Babangida rule the country for??how did he re-structure Nigeria??

Choi,so because honest Nigerians are genuinely speaking out over the high cost of living occasioned by the removal of subsidy on PMS,as well as being pained at the knowledge that just a handful of Nigerians in the name of fuel importers/marketers have been stealing the subsidy funds, just because of that, rotten looters like IBB have now found their activist/nationalist/patriotic voice

Hmmm,anything truly goes in Nigeria

PoliticsRe: Subsidy Protest Hall Of Shame by rasputinn(op): 10:50am On Jan 14, 2012
Bola Ahmed Tinubu for misleading Nigerians by pretending to condemn the subsidy removal on behalf of the masses whereas his real annoyance derives from the fact that his company Oando is the biggest culprit in the subsidy scam, having looted over 228 billion naira from subsidy funds last year alone

gokuu:
so, are u saying Niger should also control the kainji dam? Or kaduna should control the refinery in the state? If what Muazu is suggesting is given consideration, it will turn into a long chain of reactions.
Yes,but where will they get the crude to refine?Let Niger control kainji, any state that needs electricity from kainji should discuss with Niger, the others through which damable rivers coursed should also construct dams or go the way of IPP.
More states will even become very creative and generate electricity through several other means.
The spin off effect will see a healthy competetion amongst the states/regions to develop the resource bases in their states/regions as against what currently obtains where so many states have become so lazy in the area of IGR and will not even lift a finger to develop their resource bases, just because there is oil money from the Niger Delta
PoliticsRe: Subsidy Protest Hall Of Shame by rasputinn(op): 8:53pm On Jan 13, 2012
Please no one should derail this thread,it's for exposing those equally corrupt or even more corrupt than the cabal of fuel marketers, who in their own ways and during their own terms of public office, involved themselves in corruptly enriching themselves with public funds, but who have now become opportunists and have jumped on the bandwagon of the subsidy strike to begin to sound as if their hands are clean. The criminal hypocrites and like I mentioned above Femi Fani Kayode and Nasir El Rufai perfectly fit this bill,so they are named.

@ Rhino
I understand your anti-establishment tendencies, but this thread is clearly captioned,if you want to say something about the people you mentioned, please open an apt thread for them.Merci
PoliticsRe: Why Is Eastern Nigeria Silent On Fuel Subsidy Removal? by rasputinn(m): 6:16pm On Jan 13, 2012
I think its got to do with three things;
(1)The south easterners, inlike most people from the othern regions, are less of civil servants and salary earners, they're msotly self-employed,so unlike civil servants and salary earners that will still get paid even if they strike for 3 months, majority of the SEners must work for them to earn any pay.
(2)People in most parts of the SE have NEVER bought fuel @ N65/litre,they're used to the buying it much higher so they dont understand why the rest of the country is crying blue murder
(3)They are not so impressed that labour,CSO and the rest of Nigeria kept mum when most Southerners Easterners were being killed by BH in the north
PoliticsSubsidy Protest Hall Of Shame by rasputinn(op): 6:14pm On Jan 13, 2012
This is a thread to name and shame those corrupt politicians who have in one way or the other contributed to the greatest problem Nigeria has today:CORRUPTION,people who have been implicated in one corruption case or the other, but who now seized the opportunity provided by the anti-subsidy removal protest to try to launder their corrupt images and deceive ordinary Nigerians and those with short memory by mounting the podium to preach anti-corruption and call other people corrupt
I will name two and adduce the reasons, feel free to add names to the list

(1)Mr Femi Fani Kayode
This man stole several billions of Naira as aviation minister and paid $100,000.00 to tattoo his initials on his girlfriends inner caucus

http://saharareporters.com/photo/faces-corruption-photonews-chioma-anansoh-ffks-100k-tattoo

(2)Mr Nasir El Rufai
His massive corruption in the way he sold our common wealth to his friends and cronies as head of the BPE,the many bribes he took from the other bidding firms, the way and manner in which he demolished Abuja houses, seized lands belonging to Nigerian under very strange excuses only to turn around to re-allocate same to his friends, family and girlfriends.

Those area boys are the products of the failed government at the centre. The policy sommersault by the irresponsible PDP government has continued to churn out social outcasts like hot bread from a bakery.

I wont be surprise if there are unemployed graduates in the mob, or possibly school drop outs (not because they are not brilliant) but the PDP policies at the centre has strengthened poverty in Nigeria, with 92.4% living on less than  $2/day
This is the height of delusion and/or political hypocrisy
How can area boys in Lagos;bred and buttered kparagared by Tinubu,be the product of GEJ or PDP governmenthuh
Since the advent of this current democratic dispensation in 1999,has a PDP governor ever ruled Lagos state??let's show some capacity for perspective and objectivity please

realsemaj:
Street protest is senseless. Going on strike for subsidy removal is meaningless. I will not advise a reasonable person to join the protest.
I expect the selfish Labour Executive to fight Federal Gov
1. to increase minimum wages to 75k per month.
2. To ensure the fuel price is same all over the nation. If it is 135, it must be same all over.
3. To let all state Gov subsidize the transportation by supplying public with buses at affordable fare.
4. To remove taxes for now until the economy is stable.
I think this my suggestion is sensible. No to protest. In the course of protest, many may lost their lives. Who knows who?
Beleive it, there is hope for Nigeria
[/b

Your suggestions are unrealistic just as mass protest would not change anything.
1. Govt. find it difficult to pay N18,000 75k would be a joke
2. Govt. cannot dictate price of deregulated product, even pure water don't sell for the same price in PHC and Kano
3. Most of the states are broke already, i'm not sure they will take your sggestion in that area
4. Removing taxes is the last thing this administration would do. in fact, okonjo will never support it
what we need is revolution, not mere protests
Though you were right in dismissiing the other dudes suggetion, your last point is way off the mark
