Tinubu Has Vested Interest in Salami’s Recall 29 May 2012 By Chuks Okocha The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday described the restlessness campaign in the camp of the opposition led by Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) on the issue of the reinstatement of the suspended President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, as a confirmation of veiled vested interest. PDP said the: “The desperation of the (ACN) which peaked today with an unreflecting statement from its leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, amounts to a frontal attack on both the President and our great party and is further confirmation that ACN has a different agenda in the Justice Salami saga than its touted role as an evangelist of the rule of law.” A statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said: “For Tinubu to describe as a coup on the rule of law, the engagement of due process in the resolution of Justice Salami’s re-instatement, sketches a graphic effigy of a hypocrite in a desperate agenda to re-shape facts.” It also said: “This level of desperation raises a gigantic question mark on the sincerity of the ACN and the integrity of its leadership especially in the background of insinuations that four states were delivered to the party via judgments that were ‘more political than legal’ to use Tinubu’s very words. We therefore insist that it is high time Tinubu told Nigerians his political relationship with Justice Salami that has driven him and his party to cry more than the bereaved.” According to PDP, the Salami case “is purely a legal issue which Tinubu is least qualified to delve into.” Metuh said: “Justice Salami can only be reinstated when all pending cases relevant to the matter are fully resolved, and therefore we expect a measure of decorum from all parties, except for those bent on attacking the President to score cheap political goals or politicizing the issue in order to demonize the ruling party.” It further said when Tinubu harped on the rule of law, “one is quick to ask why he was slumbering away while the Lagos ACN government state threw the law to the dogs in disengaging the striking Lagos doctors; an issue that is threatening to boil over to other states. Is Tinubu playing Nero? “Can Tinubu recall how many Nigerians were brutalized and maimed by the security agents brought out by the Lagos state Government to quell the Leki Toll Gate protest? Was that the rule of law?” The statement further said, “It is obvious that Tinubu and his party are running out of campaign ideas thus, the reason for the unsubstantiated allegations and outright fabrications. We challenge them to improve on their manifesto and concentrate on selling their programme to the electorate.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/pdp-tinubu-has-vested-interest-in-salami-8217-s-recall/116835/ |
I hope they were thoroughly drenched in the rain.I pity these ones that dont seem to have a well thought out list of their live's priorities SMH |
Naughty ignoramusses, are they going to be in that school forever??instead of them to quietly face their studies, graduate and go and make something of their lives. Who cares it's changed to MAU or MOI MOI,as long as they get quality, affordable education and graduate on time, they should thank their stars and not take to the streets like a bunch of visionless irressponsible teenagers to protest ephemeral decisions like their school's name change |
godello: what better option then?I have no particular candidate, out of the two I would have loved to be governor(as I have no doubt they will work for the overall development of Delta and Deltans, one of them IS NOT EVEN A POLITICIAN,while the other will not run for office.A lot of allignment, realignment horse-trading and so on will still go on till at least early 2014,before we can say for sure who will fly what flag |
godello: I pity deltans coz dat man is no better option to uduaghan, considering his stained past during the military era. Better settle for Nwoko or cairoGod forbid that Ned Nwoko or Cairo Ojougboh should EVER govern Delta state, those very violent and fraudulent men, whose past time is to arm their boys to go on shooting rampage of their opponents camp and that of any of their percieved enemies at the slightest provocation.I've seen one of them down a bottle of St Remy in just four gulps |

do u tink, everybody is u,dat dnt have reputation and integrity? Why should he join wat he has been rejecting all dis while, pdp is a nest of killers, rogues and demons, great doesnt wnt anytin 2 do wit dem,so wtf is ur problem, great has neva lost any election in delta state, joinin acn is to help him gain more ground nd external power, just like our comrade, adam of edo state did. Go hug transformer, na b by force to join pdp...shuoo.Haaa Any small tin,all these children go dey type, hug transformer, hug electric pole.Abeg enter room go sleep, you no understand, this one pass you |
@Rasputin,@ Monkeyleg The ACN has become a credible opposition in other states, not yet Delta.I see what Oshiomhole is doing in Edo state and I admire it a lot,but that is the HUUUGE difference between Adams and Great, whilst Oshiomhole is a grass roots man that understands Nigerian politics, same cannot be said of Ogboru, who is not ready to play politics of association and compromise(not of priciples now,but ideology),let me ask you;did Adams start off as an ACN man?do you know how many times he was @ Uromi to see Anenih(while he was still in LP) to explore the possibility of collaborating with him(some say it included even replacing Osunbor as PDP flagbearer),they only parted ways cos Anenih's demands would have made Oshiomhole his stooge in office,Adams wouldn't have that so he opted out and settled for the ACN and the battle line was drawn then,Luckily,Adams enjoys such tremendous goodwill, not only in Edo state, but even country-wide.Same cannot be said of Ogboru, who is a sort of snob that only established campaign offices in Delta north, some few months to the election. He is just like Buhari,he never even bothered to campaign in most LGAs of Delta state apart from those in his Ethiope, then Warri and Sapele. The party does not make the members,it is the other way round.Nigerias constitution is so loose that governors wield so much power,Ogboru MUST stoop to conquer, what stops him from getting into alliance with the EK Clark/Delta Elders/UPU/Anioma faction of the PDP that earlier extended that invitation to him,to dislodge Uduaghan's candidate. One of the traits/reasons people like me see in him(and I guess the kingmakers in Delta also see this)is that he is independent-minded and he will not be anybody's stooge, plus I have read his manifesto(and it's full of lofty propositions, though actual implementation is another kettle of fish entirely).I still have a copy of it. Take a look at all the tribes in Delta state,LGA by LGA,tell me the party that has a dominance of the political power brokers, dont kid yourself, even if most of these guys are not getting patronage/enough patronage from the state government, they are augmenting with those from the FG or the federal parastatals(which will all be gone with an ACN government) Monkeyleg, these things are complicated and I've just bothered to shed more light becos na you.Till Great takes a good hard look at some things,he may never be governor of Delta state. |
monkeyleg: I think we should all unite and support this move,...... PDP must be kicked out and and Uduaghan duely escorted to Jail where he belongsWho are the "we",whats the difference between Ibori,Uduaghan and Tinubu Do you know that even up till last month(as I remember),very prominent opinion leaders and political power brokers in Delta state, from across the three senatorial districts were still reaching out to Ogboru to cross over to the PDP.They truly want to put an end to the Ibori dynasty, but they need a fresh face with an independent mind that they can sell to the electorate,Ogboru fits that bill, what is he pompous about, this was what happened before the April 2011 elections, when he chose to scoff the overtures of the power brokers to join PDP and they'd have replaced Uduaghan with him(with the backing fromthe centre) Well no long story,Delta will not be governed by an ACN or DPP governor.I only hope all factions unite to forge a common front and get a capable independent minded candidate, and not one of those Uduaghan guys lining up presently. |
Yes,they should ignore their leader and listen to Bamanga Tukur-A muslim who says Boko Haram is fighting for justice |
dripstoil: For now, it seems the center can not hold - maybe we'll come back in the next 2-3years to argue this? What do you want to come back in the next 2 to 3 yrs to do,to place flowers by the graveside of the facebook IPO? Go and check wall street history for IPOs that tanked 10% southwards just two days after their listing/IPO and tell me where such companies are today. As a matter of fact, the share price of facebook would have started taking a nose dive from the very first day of trading if not for the fact that the lead underwriter;Morgan Stanley stepped in to steady the price @ above $38 just to encourage more gullible investors to throw away their money by buying the over hyped shares and also to allow the old existing shareholders more time for profit taking and cleaning out. Now that Morgan Stanley is going to be investigated for "not handling the IPO well" aka keeping the information that it did not support the $38 price or that it knew the shares were overrated to only the old shareholders and not everybody, the bad press and uncertainty that would generate will trigger further dumping of the shares by more existing older investors and this will further drive the share price towards the $20 threshold in the near future People should have listened to seasoned investors like Warren Buffet who said he was going to invest over $3 billion on other shares, the same day facebook IPO was open, but that is the irony of life, So for all those that bought into the IPO sorry for your losses, just consider it as one of those bad investment decisions you made and move on |
Funny way of asking....... Not checked the apps in detail yet, will do that when I have dealt with more pressing issues Seun, well done Nice little forward steps at a time, and please if anyone tells you to consider going public,no listen to them o |
