Harddiskng: I started the Stanbic MMF 4years ago, then it was still doing about btw 9-11% p.a i think. Started with N50,000 but now I think you can start with even N5,000.
You start earning as soon as your account is opened. Interest is paid using daily poration. It drops into your account daily. Eg you have N1,000,000 in the account and the interest rate is 17% (lets even say thats the interest rate and it is constant for everyday throughout the year; which is normally not the case).
It means everday you earn ((17/100)*(1,000,000))/365) = N465.75 daily. In a month you would have earned N13,972.5 as interest. In 6 months about N83,835. In a year N167,670.
Why does the rate fluctuate daily -Each day may have a slightly different rate because the fund constantly acquires new instruments from the market at different rates and these instruments also mature at different time and rates enhance leaving the fund. Its the aggregate of these rates that is provided to you daily. If the market keeps offering instruments at higher rates over a period of time, there is a tendency for the aggregate rate to increase and vice versa.
Hope this helps to clarify. |

Kayman358: You don't even need to go just visit FBNQuest Website https://www.fbnquest.com/asset-management/our-products/mutual-funds/fbn-money-market-fund and fill the form on that page. A relationship manager will contact you within a day and you will fill and scan your documents to them. It's not necessary to go to their office. Regarding FBN branch that you went, I guess the person you met is naive about the process and even if he/she is not it is a long process going through that route.
Nevertheless, just contact FbnQuest and narrate your story to the relationship manager that will contact you. That was how I started my MMF with them. Pls, do you know FBN MMF rate as at today? |

reichwolf: Hello guys, I'm in serious need of help. I got refused a Canadian student visa for a January start at Medicine Hat College, Alberta. I applied for it here in the UK as I am currently in Scotland. The reasons given were TRAVEL HISTORY, IMMIGRATION STATUS IN THE UK and PURPOSE OF VISIT.
If any of you guys have any idea on how to tackle these issues, please may you forward them to me please. I included every possible document in my first application so I am really perplexed by the refusal.
I am planning to re-apply as fast as I can. Thanks for all. Sorry for the refusal. what's your status in Scotland? If you are on visiting visa, you may have to go to your home country to reapply. |

Alantobie: Hey Guys my visa has been approved. It’s been God. I got delayed in August for insufficient funds and when I ordered my gcms note, it said lump sum deposit occurred. So after asking the gurus and going through previous posts for my situation, I decided to pay a year fee, open a domiciliary account and transfer my living expenses in it. I also added a detailed sponsorship letter and a letter of explanation to show changes made to my application.
Profile Program: MSc Applied Computer Science School: Concordia University, Montreal 1st application: Submitted 13/06/2017 Refused 02/08/2017 Reason: Insufficient Funds 2nd application: Submitted 03/10/2017 Approved (16/11/2017) Congrats Alantobie. Best wishes. Rgds |

Nzo1: Thanks bro.
First Application:
Scholarship amount: 16,500 CAD per year, sponsor declared 5,000 CAD per year.
Tuition: 3,717 CAD (per year) Room and Board: 10,000 CAD Other: 4,256 CAD Funds available for my stay: 21,500 CAD. My expenses in Canada will be paid by: Other Other: (1) Scholarship (Grant) (2) My Cousin.
Second Application: Here, my cousin wrote a letter of support (not letter of sponsorship) stating that he was aware of my full scholarship but that he'll be supporting me with 15,000 CAD per year to ensure that i have a stress free stay. I stated in my LoE that i didn't need any additional funds considering the scholarship but that the additional funds was to cater for any eventualities.
Tuition: 3,717 CAD (per year) Room and Board: 10,000 CAD Other: 2,000 CAD Funds available for my stay: 31,500 CAD. My expenses in Canada will be paid by: Other Other: Full Scholarship.
In my LoE, there was a section titled Financial Requirements where i wrote the breakdown of Funds Available: 1. Scholarship (16,500 per year), My Cousin (15,000 per year). Total: 31,500 CAD per year.
On the issue of third party sponsorship, my cousin wrote a more elaborate Letter of Support, stating why he was supporting me and i provided more proofs of our relationship and evidence of his previous supports (though i provided this in my first application).
Also, in my LoE, there was a section titled Further Explanation Concerning Previous Refusal: Here, i stated that the reasons given for my previous refusal were bothered primarily on Finance which came as a shock to me considering the full scholarship from MUN. I also stated that i believed there was an oversight in the review of my previous application because the scholarship wasn't mentioned in my GCMS Notes, that the scholarship amount was more than sufficient for my studies and that i didn't need any additional funds but nevertheless, i had additional funds.
I also increased my personal account balance from like 100k in my first application to like 1.5M in my second application.
My people, Scholarship is not a curse, you just need to stress it in your LoE but you need to show additional funds. Congrats. |

Iamabraham: Good morning everyone. We're presently having our tea break. The lectures are progressing, 4 down, 31 to go. We'll soon be having our elections. Electoral committee already constituted. The facilitators are top-notched.
Some guys (from the jan08 batch) joined this morning. They received invite yesterday. This, I believe, is to 'fill in the gap' for those that weren't around. So, I believe FBN is organized and have a plan in place for everyone (the AC awaitees inclusive).
Got to go now. With love from us all @ the FS. Thanks father Abraham for the updates. Rgds |

Scented: Cloud9usher I doff my hat for your crisp and succinct play of words, all coming out in the right context and not out of place. Being a lover of words myself I just upgraded my vocabulary from your comment.
I hope you have a good diction as well? Listening to a man with some eloquent diction and robust vocabulary makes me weak to the knells, butterflies in my stomach, Lol, silly me. Talk about coming home from a stressful day at work and meeting such a man talk to you is every ladies' dream. Don't mind my rhetoric though, I'm just 'freestyling' here.
Now to the issue at hand, Iganmu is going fine so far, but I know the stress is coming, my former job was a learn on the job thing so this is my first time being in a training school, I'm just saying to myself things would go smoothly, and I hope so.
The food here is great! Should I say that again? THE FOOD IS GREAT!!!
I thought the guys who made it to Iganmu would be so serious minded, but its just day 3 and these dudes are already directly or indirectly 'toasting' girls like we came for Big brother Africa show or something, Lol. Its fun here at the moment though. Making friends and all.
More updates as things unfold. @bold, No time to check time. Lolxx |
