Busolami2015: Hello,
Is IELTS or TOEFI still important for Masters in Canada since Nigeria is an English speaking country?...
I Planned to apply for M. ENG at University of Ottawa winter 2019(January) ... Planning on starting the process early next year...
I graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka with 2.1(3.70) in Industrial technical education (specialisation in Electrical /Electronic) Most schools, if not all, will waive IELTS/TOEFL for course based masters if your medium of study during undergraduate level was in English. I'll will advise that you contact the admission officer in UofO to confirm if you can get such waiver. You may be required to tender a letter from UNN stating that you studied in English. Cheers |

lordjayabs: Hi guys. Good morning, please can some one tell me the address for VFS in Lekki I really don't know the address, but from CMS/Obalende/TBS, board a bus going to Jakande or Ajah, alight at Ikate roundabout (next bus stop after elf), cross to the other side of the road. walk straight down the road, ask for Manor hall or VFS center. it's a popular building and not far from the entrance gate of the street. You will see a Stanbic or Skye ATM beside the building . Cheers!!! |

The stand out points of working at FBN are: Less work pressure, job security, staff benefits, trainings and welfare. Do u know if FBN encourage their staffs to write career certification exams and do they pay or discount their staffs especially when such certifications are related to a staff's job description? maziude: Hello bosses,
I think coming back or not after studies is all based on individual perception and goals. If you feel coming back is going help you achieve your goal, then by all means come back.
If you feel staying over will help you achieve your goals, stay. But, if you are staying back, please do so legally.
It aint really about "no place like home", it is all about how comfortable you are at "home" be it Nigeria or anywhere else.
Personally, (for now)Nigeria is not where I want to be right now not because of the terrain and uncertainty (well some of the reasons), but because my goals will be better achieved outside Nigeria at the moment. So, coming back when I finish aint an option.
I lived in China for 3 years and I felt what racism is all about but then I came out top 2 in my class and got lots of recognitions and commendations (all thanks to God)but came out top 3 during my undergraduate days in Naija and all the lecturers told was "una get luck". So, I would say, if you really want to make it, racism, tribalism, nepotism and the like aint gonna stop you except you let them.
Finally, the fact that I am not in Nigeria does not mean I have not been contrubuting my own bits too to Nigeria's growth(even though na small small, but i dey try). But like @justwise said, "settle where you hit your jackpot, that is your home".
My opinion... It will end in praises... Mazi 1 of Canada has said it all. Thumbs up. |

Yomalicious: Like I said, there is no charge for police clearance certificate. It's when I started following this thread that I started seeing people dropping prices and numbers. I had to go back to ask their CP and he said and I quote " any officer that collects money for police clearance is collecting it in he's pocket" NPF doesn't charge.
This is just for your information oh.
Cheers So what will u advise In a situation where the officer in charge refused to do it for free? and u know. CPs are not that available to attend to all. Rgds |

Adunni22: Hi guys for some reasons been having issues posting. I had to create a new moniker.
First Application (online route)-> 31st may 2017 I applied from the USA and only submitted relevant documents no SOP. Just the following 1. Family information form 2. Study permit application form 3. Passport bio data page (just this page no visa pages or stamped pages)
Refused on June 16th based on 1. Immigration status in country of residence 2. Purpose of visit
I read up about the immigration status issue but I believed I knew the reason why I was denied.I made a very silly mistake especially with my length of stay in my country of residence on my study permit application form. I was in the USA as an undergraduate student at that time. I therefore put USA as my current country of residence. So I was asked how long I would be in the USA and I put from August 2013 to may 31st 2017 and I submitted my application on may 31st. I also chose the USA as the country I am applying from. So I believe the VISA officer probably thought I was over staying in the USA. Also I was switching from biomedical engineering to electrical engineering and I didn't state reason for the switch and how both programs are related. Hence, the purpose of visit concern from visa officer. I decided to address this in my SOP. What the VISA officer didn't know about me is I got an extension of my student immigration status even after graduation because I had an incomplete class I needed to finish. However, I decided to wait and finish the class and just go apply from Ghana since that's where I am from anyways. I finished the class on 26th June and left the USA on 27th June.
Second Application (online route)-> July 4th 2017 1.I added an SOP stating that I was previously denied based on purpose of visit and immigration status in country of residence. In the SOP I address both concerns in great details and provided supporting documents. 2. Letter from my professor justifying that I did have an incomplete grade and was finishing it up. 3. Letter from international student stating I have maintained my student status since I started school. 4. My form DS 2019 (USA student immigration document) 5. My transcript 6. Letter of completion of all degree requirements. It also stated when my degree would be conferred. 7. Passport with all visa pages and stamps 8. Proof of finances 9. Conditional letter of acceptance from McGill University 10. Proof that I met the conditions of acceptance 11. Upfront medical form 12. CAQ certificate
On July 17th(13days after application), my application was updated and I didn't get any email. The review of eligibility changed to we are reviewing your eligibility On July 18th(2 weeks after my application) I got a medical request. I sent a case inquiry form stating I did an upfront medical. On July 19th (15 days after application) medical changed to passed and I got a passport request at the same time. What I think helped was the detailed SOP addresing the VISA officers concerns I provided. I also added documents to support what I had written on my SOP. I prayed fervently. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread. To those who reached out to me, Be aware that I got your emails and I would reply soonest. Please if you any more questions feel free to ask. Thank you Congrats @Adunni22 @Adunni222. Kindly explain more on ur proof of finances. did you pay tuition for a whole year? are u self sponsored? if no, what's d relationship between u and ur sponsor? what were the conditions on the letter of acceptance from McGill? Rgds |
