My advice is for her to see it through. If we don't punish these animals accordingly, we will merely be encouraging them. As men, we all feel lust, but what separates us from animals is our ability to control and resist it. Anybody that fails at this is not a man, but an animal. |
Georgry:Oga you try. Don't believe everything you're told. I have an uncle that greedily vied for two political posts and lost both. This is despite the fact that he would have won if only he had stuck to one. He was greedy, and everyone that would have voted for him turned against him for it. At the same time, I have another uncle that supported his friend against his own brother and his own self for nothing but character. it was not his local government's turn, so he willingly gave the slot to his friend despite the fact that he could have taken it forcefully. Just because you've not met decent politicians doesn't mean that there aren't decent ones. Trust me on that. I've met plenty. |
It's easy to get sucked into the cycle of hatred. I have come to realize that the anonymity offered by websites like nairaland makes it easy for the frustrated masses to vent without repercussions. Having said these, though, it will be the height of foolishness to erroneously judge the thought of the whole nation on the thoughts of so few participants. The truth is that most of Nigeria's working population don't have the time to be angry at some perceived slights that happened years ago. when you're working full-time from morning to evening, you'll only be concerned about your future and factors that affect that future. These two tribes don't hate each other because they are not northerners and they are not jobless. For someone like me, if you are not my boss, future boss, or worker, I honestly couldn't care less. Buhari is just a placeholder, there were worse monsters before him and there will be worse monsters after him. stop letting one idiot dictate how you live your life. |
midnighter:The alternative was a monogenic marriage where he would marry the girl but she would not be Queen. It had never been done in Britain but people were willing to take that compromise with him. He disagreed and was seeking ways to get both the crown and the woman. When Parliament realized he was seeking outside support to strongarm them, they forced the issue. I never said he was not willing to abdicate. Parliament couldn't have made him do it if he didn't agree. What I'm saying is that although he eventually did abdicate, he would have gone with almost anything else that allowed his children to inherit. He was brave enough to confront Parliament on the issue. That's the only good thing I saw in him. |
For me, I see this Amotekun issue as the Sowore phenomena. The government made a misstep and instead of trying to correct it, stuck to their guns and turned the whole southern/midbelt region against them. It us just another proof that this Buhari regime is a directionless government without access to proper intellectual advisers. That's what happens when you fill your government with stupid Aboki's who lack a lick of wisdom. |
midnighter:It's similar to what @chukwugoziegi : said. they decided to announce it first and he had no choice but to sign if he wanted to keep a lid on it. Basically, they strong armed him into abdicating |
midnighter:Then you didn't read the right books. For that whole time while they were waiting for his signature, he was lobbying the Commonwealth nations in an attempt to force the hand of Parliament. He even tried getting the support of the public by playing the love angle. Parliament had to threaten to go ahead with it before he agreed for the sake of the respect of the crown. They offered him so many alternatives that it was mindbogglingly that they could wait so long for a decision. When Edward realized that no one was going to support a twice divorce on the throne, he had no choice but to bow to Parliament. What I'm trying to get at is that you should not make it sound like he did it because he wanted to. He was very much against abdicating even till the end. That's why I called him a coward. If he had chosen love over duty, he would have been a brave man, or duty over love too. But he was like a weasel trying to find a middle ground until he realized everybody wanted yes or no. |
midnighter:Why then did he refuse to abdicate when Parliament offered him that way out |
itsme01:It's not making mouth. She was an olosho because she was twice divorced and had two other lovers while dating Edward, including a Nazi. His father even mentioned wishing George had been born first on his death bed. That should tell you how bad he was. He was a racist with strong sympathies for Nazi Germany. Parliament told him to either marry the girl and abdicate or not marry the girl and remain king. Canada and Australia told him that if he married her, she could only be a concubine and never queen. Instead of doing what was right by choosing one, he was looking for a way he could do both and dragging feet. Parliament simply announced his abdication and forced him to go through with it. The guy didn't have a choice in any of it so stop making it seem like it was his choice to leave. The British Empire forced him off the throne because everyone except the racists found him disgusting |
itsme01:Don't even mention Edward and Harry in the same breath. Edward was a coward who couldn't choose between duty and love. The bastard wanted to marry an olosho divorce and make her Queen. When everyone refused to allow him to do it, including that same Canada he later ran to, he started seeking the support of those racists in south Africa. If you don't know history, stop making mouth. |
sagieramos:No. I just have a problem with brainwashed zombies who are unable to think for themselves. My advice is that whenever you pray, you ask God for wisdom. Maybe then you'll realize just how indoctrinated you have become. There is in fact no difference between Jehovah's Witness and Islam. Both are indoctrinating cults without an ounce of thinking capacity |
sagieramos:I am usually a very polite and jovial fellow bit I must say this now that Sir. you are a very stupid person. Sit down and think, you hear me? Think and pray that if Jesus could give his blood and life for the salvation of the sins of all the world, who are you not to give a pint of yours for the sake of one man's life. The whole point of Christianity is to do as Christ. whenever those bastards force something down your throat, stop swallowing bible verses and ask Jesus what he would have done if it was he. |

Anybody thinking WW3 is a joke should go read history and find out how WW1 started. Trust me, you'll be amazed by how quickly things spiral out of control. What Trump did was stupid and I'm certain he'll come to regret it. |
It's like nobody here gets what the OP was about. The reply is short and concise which makes it okay, but the problem is how it was drafted. Even ignoring everything else, just the way both documents were signed shows the literacy level of the people who drafted it. The Ghanian letter ended with a signature and a short title while the Nigerian one was just..... |
I'm only two chapters in. you'll understand in time, but to explain a few plot points: the "winged being" does not associate with any gender and the name is in quote because even it's shape is only a temporary thing. think of them as existences that are beyond the concept of shape and gender. Everything except their name is fluid. you'll understand as you read more chapters. |
The Beginning/End She flew high into the heavens and readied “ As the battle raged ever fiercer, they flew across oceans and land with the blows growing stronger and the hits coming faster. At some point it was “ She saw He only noticed the shifting space after it was already next to him. While distracted, “ Standing up from the rubble it had made of the temple where it landed, he saw the bodies she sensed most of its occupant dead. She donned her “ Her “ The body that crawled out was missing a great many things and even as she looked at the human child, his lifeforce faded with every passing second. Perhaps it was a whim or a plan, he did not know, but he knew what to do next. The glow around the “winged being” intensified for a moment as he laid a hand on the boy’s forehead. By the time the boy opened his eyes, his spear was ready and she spared him no further thought and ascended to meet “ The spear was thrust and the truth was revealed. A beginning/end and the promise of things to come/passed away. |
Olawrites:In quote, I wrote an eBook for him worth 45k. After leading me on for months with promises to pay me, he now started telling tall tales. The truth is that some of his former employers had told me he would do exactly that. I decided to give him the benefit of doubt and paid the price. The guy will give you long jobs with seeming reasonable excuses of why he can only pay on completion, he will tell you stories of how he will pay you next week, the week after that, and the week after that. You will rail at him after a few months and he will now start telling you everything you did wrong in his work. Never work with that guy. He is a criminal. |
It was another tough day for Ade as he went about his job. Despite how easy people said freelancing was, he rapidly found out that work was work no matter what it is called. Ade wished he had listened to Bolu and packed just his Laptop as his bag weighed him down. Missing yet another bus because of his speed, he swore. “Campus! Campus! Campus!” he cried as he eventually decided to take a bike to his workplace. His friends often found it odd that he still prefered to work from campus than home despite having graduated. Ade always told them the same thing “I can work in comfort from home by spending #1500 on data or from campus by spending #100 on Wi-Fi. If I handle campus’ discomfort, I save #1400 for two days feeding.” The situation in Nigeria has never been kind to those who can not save for the inevitable dry spells. Ade liked to think of himself as a very hardworking person, Afterall, not many would be willing to write for #1 per word. Such work paid the bills though, so he had always put up with it. Besides, between the rare well-paid projects and a steady low paying one, he was quickly accumulating capital. He thought that within the next three years, he’ll have a car, a house, and a serious girlfriend if he worked hard enough. The last time Ade estimated his height was in 2017 and he was 6.5” tall then. With a light chocolate colouration, a firm buttock, button nose, and wide chin, his friends have always called him handsome. Not to mention the numerous ex-girlfriends and even more numerous lovers. One Hour Later: As he looked at the mechanical engineering faculty once more, he thought the name spider could not have been more appropriate. He sighed at the two stories climb he needed to get to his spot in the seminar room. Spotting one of the other regulars at the classroom, he waved a greeting. “Wi-Fi no go oo” was the first thing out of Tobi’s mouth upon seeing him. “We go manage am.” The truth was that Tobi’s laptop was faulty and although he knew what was wrong with it, he didn’t want to say. It was a wicked grudge to be holding, but he knew that Tobi was the one who stole his wallet last month. Sneering at Tobi’s back as he passed him by, he thought “good riddance.” Ade grunted as he dropped his bag onto the table, heaving and panting with the exertion of such a long trek. It was worth it though, the distance from the main academic areas meant that interruptions were rare at the Spider building. The bag was open in a flash as he popped out his food storage container, his jacket, and a cover clothe. His friends always warned him of sleeping in classrooms, but he was used to working at night and couldn’t help himself. Finally taking out a bottle of Chapman, he drank deeply and rested a bit to regain his strength. Powering on the PC, he connected to the Wi-Fi... Then all he knew were pain, fire, and light. Later: He did not know how long he spent buried under the rubble, all he knew was he had been insensate and his head was ringing. He crawled out of the rubble that used to be a three-story spider-shaped building. Looking back at where he had been buried, Ade wondered how he had not died. The ringing in his ears only just registering after the whole ordeal, he collapsed on the ground in disbelief. “was it an earthquake?” rang in his mind as he tried to correlate his current circumstance. Unexpectedly, the ground trembles again as both he and the rubble were blown back in a flash of light. This time, he stayed awake, but only enough to see the sky on fire and a golden figure who rapidly ascended to the sky. “Wh... whaaa...t wa...wa...wasss in... in...that drink?” |

As you move from OAU campus to Sabo on a fine Tuesday morning in Ile-Ife, there is much to campus the attention of the observant. The current economic downturn in Nigeria is a fiction that is not easily observed by the average resident here. Market stalls are partly open as market women take their time to sweep their spots. The famous Lagere hold-up is completely absent as not more than two vehicles ply every ten meters at a time. By the time the gong rings for nine, most shops are open as the roads begin to fill up with both pedestrians and vehicles. Conductors shouting of Sabo, Mayfair, Garage, Round-about, Phase Two, Fajuyi... fill the air as people rush to their workplace. By afternoon, the Lagere, Oja, and Opa roads become a nightmare of gridlocks from buses dropping their passengers. An observer will see wares being sold every minute to indicate an impressive economic outturn. By seven in the evening, the traffic becomes worse than ever as workers rush to return home. Although Market stalls remain open, most begin to move in products that are not often bought at night. As Ile-Ife shuts down for the day, a late worker will pray to get transport once the clock hits 11:00 PM. To this new observer, Ile-Ife is a standing proof of the improving economic situation within the country. The economic activity they witnessed and the scale of the money that changed hands acting as proof that Major General Mohammad Buhari’s (retd) policies are working. People are spending money and others are making it. A visit to the bank will see it similarly filled up at all times of the day with people depositing at stupendous rates. Close monitoring of bank ATMs will also reveal the stunning scale at which people come to withdraw money. The Lies: Like the common saying “the devil is in the details”, a glance is not enough to describe the economy of a country like Nigeria. With the unreliable statistical data available to the masses and most government parastatals, it is easy to manipulate published economic statistics. The level of obfuscation of major tax revenues and duties also doesn’t help matters. For these reasons only, it is ideal to take the statistical analysis to those whom it affects. An in-depth questioning of retailers and service operators revealed some startling facts: 1. People are still selling at impressive rates, with some raking in mind-boggling profits. 2. The Volume of sales reduced only for high-value products but increased for lower-value ones. 3. The take-home profit of most sellers is lower than ever despite making more money than before the downturn. 4. Their spending rate has similarly increased. While there are more factors that were inferred, the above are the most important ones. What do these revelations mean? Major General Mohammad Buhari’s (retd) government has been raising taxes or effecting a better collection of them. While this may seem a good thing to some and some economists may agree. The reality is that with the hardship already burdening the masses, should this regimes attention not be on lowering taxes? Nigerians are saving better. This is a nominally good thing because they are now significantly more mindful of spending frivolous money that can be saved for rainy days. There has been a decrease in the number of parties on the streets and their extravagancy is much reduced. This not only helps reduce the normal widespread noise pollution but also the tendency to import materials better sourced locally. Nigerians are now more interested in widespread economic situations than ever before. The hard-hitting policies and unscrupulous utilization of public funds are now in their interest to monitor. This is a very good development because it indicates that public perception is once again turning to these things since 1999. Conclusion: Perhaps Major General Mohammad Buhari’s (retd) greatest gift in his eight-year regime is not his governing skills but his ability to unite Nigerians against himself. Never since the times of Abacha have Nigerians been more against a regime than this one. It is indicative of the type of regime we experience when even Abacha is being examined favourably in comparison to Major General Mohammad Buhari. The people of Ile-Ife are firmly against this regime and this feeling is not felt more closely anywhere than on the OAU campus. Coming: Part 2: The Lies and The Truths: Economic State of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun, Nigeria. |

Zombies or Why your brain is more important than money I expect accusations of IPOB to be flying soon after this message gets to the targeted audience but the truth shall set me free. What is a Zombie? It is a creature developed by western media and depicted in the same vein as vampire undead. There have been various iterations of these "things", each with their unique adaptations. From those that eat brains to those that can't tolerate the sun and even some that have more in common with Bats. A recurring theme though is that Zombies are stupid. They are always portrayed as a pitiable existence with brains too rotten to even walk without tripping and an inability to recognize what is right in front of them. Why the long epistle? I aim to drive into the common mind what the term ZOmbie refers to. The inability of most Buhari supporters to realize what a disaster their principal has been indicated their intelligence level. I was one of those who helped put Buhari into power in 2015 and it hurts my sensibilities to realize how easily we were all deceived. The country gets more corrupt every day yet for the Buhari regime there is always an excuse. The economy worsens every week yet Buhari seems to only care for tyrannical and draconic policies. The security situation seems to be moving into an abyss and our security outfits now move with more impunity than ever, yet Buhari is blameless. To call this country leaderless is not too great a generalization. Buhari's regime claims to be aiming at implementing a cashless policy, yet they introduced a #50 duty to POS transactions of above #1000. They claim to want investments, yet they introduce an abomination of both monetary and fiscal policies that shouldn't exist. I distinctly remember your principal being confronted with evidence of Ganduje's crimes and claiming not to know the type of technology used. I remember him embarrassing the country at the UN general assembly by talking about climate change when the question was about youths. I remember all the promises he made before he was elected and how he broke every single one of them. I remember Buhari populating his cabinet with Northerners against every convention and constitution. To the Zombies, I say this. How long will you continue to hide your head in the sand? How long will it take till you replace that rotten brain with a new model? The Yoruba will say "Ẹni a wifun, Ọba jẹ o gbọ, Ẹni a sọrofun Ọba jẹ o gba, Ẹrù Ọba ni mo bà, Ọba tó."
