Froshloaded: You pay out of pocket to stay in accommodation within the airport or hang around. The only thing Turkish Air give during the long layover is two meal tickets covering maybe chips, soft drink/water. It's a long trip and only an option if you're working on a very tight budget. A smooth and easy way would be Qatar Airways. If you book many weeks ahead, you could get a ticket for USD2K. 1 Like |

seyewest: Did 19hr stopover in Istanbul and 2hrs+ in Bangkok on that trip. Maybe the one you saw is different. If you are worried about the long layover you can call the Airline for clarification Alternatively, check if Qatar has a fair price at the moment |

For those having issues with PTA due to the requirement for the presentation of a return ticket, the following cheat sheet might work: 1. book flight on Airline official website 2. Make sure it is a refundable ticket 3. put a return date of at least one semester 4. Apply for your PTA 5. Apply for a refund of your return ticket from airline once you arrive Australia 6. Ensure you read the Airline refund policy thoroughly ( This should be No.1) NOTE: if return fare would overstretch your budget, just discountenance the idea |

Collins605: Go to Facebook marketplace or Gumtree, search for cars within your budget, if you see any car you like, check if the advert says 'Dealer Used'; Dealer Used are cars sold by car dealers, on the average, they are good value for money and mechanically okay as it is illegal for them to sell cars that are not roadworthy. 2 Likes |

Solitin40: While s/he's trying to answer this important GTE question, let me provide a clue from my situation.: If your previous degree and work experience are unrelated to your desired course in Aussie, you could comfortably create an overwhelmingly convincing story of a childhood interest that resufuced, a charity gesture U embarked on in high sch ( e.g Helping at alphanages, visiting prisons, old people's home, etc). If you have pictures scan and add to application, there is no 'too much' in evidence as per 'dem must give me my grant' The secret to a powerful GTE statement is your ability to convince and provide evidence if available and necessary. 3 Likes |

pemilabelle:No! Once you get a new passport, update it on your immi account immediately. Alternatively, if you still have up to six months in your passport, travel and apply for a new one once you land. You can either go to Canberra or find out from Naija Assoc in State (in Aussie) whether they have an arrangement that help bring passport officials to state. I renewed mine without going to Canberra |

Kimikenzy: Laptop and internet. Online exam is like writing IELTS online . Depending on ur Uni, you would be ask you to download/install an app (on your exact device to be used for the exam) which they will use to monitor you (visual and audio) to avoid 'copyism', 'community efforts' and all its cousins AKA examination malpractice. Note: Your laptop charger won't fit into Aussie socket, so you will buy a suitable adaptor here. |

ayobamiakinrind: I'm positive that WA will work out something (exemption) for International student to fly in, because the pressure is already mounting and govt will act accord... Visa application fee is free for now, therefore, my unsolicited opinion is once u have your grant, fly in to any state where you have friends/relative, get cheap accommodation, your contacts will show u ways to get jobs that will pay the bills. NOTE As soon as you land Aussie, infor your Uni of your arrival and address, next thing you will begin to study online (for most courses). Aluta Continua... I'm in WA but finished 2/3 of my course online due to Covid-19 1 Like |

emmygr8: Anyone booking Turkish Air to Aussie should select the following route: Nigeria(Abj/Lag)> Istanbul> Bangkok-Sydney Singapore route is a 'No' for now, if u mistakenly pick Sigapore route you be ask at the Airport in Naija to pay approximately 80K Naira (out of pocket) to change route. Note: Turkish Air won't refund you 'shi shi' Thailand route is very good, use it and thank me later. |

Once you are certain of your trip, send me the arrival date/time and I will be waiting outside the airport to pick u. When U email me, I will tell you how to identify me at the airport. Meanwhile, 'State Daddy' has shut the door even before opening it Once WA opens its border I will announce my airport pickup availability again. 1 Like |

A long time ago, someone asked a question here about bring a child/ren to Aussie on student visa with spouse unaccompanied and I provide my opinion based on my experience. I have received several other emails on the matter as well. Fast-forward, I completed my Masters in UWA last month, Chairman is only weeks away to be here, son is already speaking with his nose, correcting my proudly naija accent and reading my Uni material while in Pre-Primary- I am super-proud of myself. God planted some wonderful people in my paths that improved my situations and survival and I promised myself that I will pay the favour forward in any little way I can. Therefore, I have decided to pick three people coming to Perth from the Airport to their accommodation within Perth. If anyone is coming to Perth in last three Fridays of February, send me an email and confirm your arrival time. I have also read several enquiry on GTE, Sponsor, Adding Spouse to application etc., and I would like to address these in brief: 1. GTE: when tou write your GTE statement, sit back and ask yourself whether your explanations are logical, smoothly linked, and whether if you are the visa officer you will make sense of the evidence before you. For example: if you say that your maternal uncle is your sponsor and I'm the visa officer, I wud expect more than the sponsor's heavy bank statement and proof of relationship. I wud like to see that he paid your first tuition to convince me. This may not be the standard but it's very logical 2. Adding Spouse: Unless you are very fortunate, you wud be sitting on a very long thing waiting for your spouse (Subsequent entrant ) student visa. My suggestion (after my almost two year of rugged wait) is to add spouse and provide a solid GTE and leave the universe to align things... NOTE on GTE: when you write your GTE provide evidence to support your claims and 'don't go and be writing Australian Education is the best and quality standard' compare to naija' What about Canada, USA or UK that offer similar standard at less expensive price? Tell them why you prefer Aussie and not Canny, UK, etc. For example, if you have ties (relative and friends in Aussie), be pratical and say my brother is in Australia and this will help be settle faster for my study, blab blah blah Explore your unique situation, research on the good qualities of the city where your prospective Uni is and pick some points to 'decorate your GTE statements after the key issues are adressed 10 Likes 2 Shares |
whats your location?..i can help u out [/quo I don't mind writing and sending via email for correction and/or point me to the write materials to use. I have used ieltsliz, Alex& Jay formats for reading (which pushed me to band 7). I don't know if it's grammar that's pulling me down. I got a free writing review from IELTS ( after questioning their EOR policy) and the feedback I got was that my sentence structures are good and doesn't need improvement but that grammar is reducing my mark. |
Please house, I have a situation and need help. I am currently floating in the EE pool with 364 point. I have a master degree while my husband has B.Sc.(I am the primary applicant) Age is already a minus for both of us. Here is the situation: 1. I just remember today that hubby told me long time ago that he did an INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE in Accounting and Finance(One year Full-Time i.e two Semesters) program at The Polytecnic Birnin Kebbi in 2001. Please my people, can this give hime two or more certificate with his already assessed B.SC? 2. If the answer to the first question is ''No'', please someone should direct me to where to register for BCS Certificate in IT in Abuja. Thanks and God bless you all. Biko, someone should help my situation. I am still struggling to Max out IELTS, hubby is not willing to do another IELTS for now. My current IELTS is L7.5, R6.5, W 7, S7.5. Meanwhile, the Intermediate Certificate from Kebbi Poly is a Pre-ND program. |

sandysilver: I want to believe that your request is receiving much attention because children are involved. The good thing in Nairaland is that we demystify the things agents don't tell you. The purpose is not to scare or discourage you, but for you to know the reality ahead and adequately prepare for it because in my opinion, the bridge crossing must be done first to avoid ''story that touch'' I understand how difficult it is for mothers to leave their children behind, esp, if you don't have trusted hands back home to help. because for me, it's only your mother or mother-in-law that can 100% care for your children in your absence. That is, if they are still strong to help out. Our men are great carers but they are not design to watch out for some things while caring for children. So, my sister, discuss with hubby so that he will prepare financially for everything and you on your path should prepare emotionally. Another thing is, you are going to miss your partner like kilode... Many lonely days...so difficult to explain. |

obainojazz: When I read this comment, I laughed tire. I am hoping Sandysilver send me a message so I will explain some of my experiences so she can prepare for the journey ahead. But for the sake of those who might find this info useful in future, I will say some things here- Coming to Aussie as a student with kid(s) is challenging raise to the power of 50 if your partner is not accompanying you. If you choose to add your children make sure you add your spouse as well, you need him/her here to cope because the system here is entirely different. Unless you already have family here(but dem nor even fit help u sef, everybody dey hustle) to care for your children while you study, ONLY ASSIGNMENTS GO FINISH YOU, you go forget say you born. Assignment here is not copy and paste o, no plagiarism, it's real work and deadline. Secondly, ensure you have PLENTY of money to pay for daycare/schooling and/or informal nanny to help out, otherwise, you will face the toughest time in your marriage and pour frustration on your sweet kid(s). The ''suffering abroad is digital if you don't come prepared. For those forming akpobi that they will get a job to survive with their children while studying, please don't rely on it. If I have to start all over, I will add my partner and take the risk, biko. Highest if dem deny us, we face another direction, life kontinu. 2 Likes |

sandysilver: I got a grant with a kid. In your case you are talking about three children, so, I really can't say much whether it will reduce your chances. But I must tell you that unless you already have a strong support system in Aussie and have plenty of money, combining study with care for your children would be challenging. However, if you are a single parent and have proof and custody of your children I think adding them to your application is not a big deal. If you decide to include them in your application, ensure their father fill consent form( you will find this form in immi website). Lastly, most agent don't tell you the implications of most issues in the application process because they need your money-period. So, research and ask questions esp here on nairaland- lots of good folks here. 1 Like |
