Track DSTV first, then gradually move your dish 1cm or 2cm slowly downwards. Make sure you are not in a hurry.

Greetings to you all, I have a strange experience with OurTv I just received yesterday from my Konga order.

On testing, I observed that my decoder does not respond to my remote control within 4 - 5min the device is switched on. (As if the remote IC deactivate or something after a while).

This is a very strange observation, I had to off & switch back on each time I want to do anything with the decoder remote for it to respond!

Today's the 1st day of test and am already fade up, please kindly advise. What should I do?

You need patience to master how to track with a prime focus 1.8m dish!

When you do, you will enjoy that dish! You can combine whole lots of satellites on that dish.

The reason you are strugling with 1.8m dish to nail Multi tv is because 1.8m is a prime focus while 60cm is an offset dish.
A Prime focus dish is a reflector
whereby the waves received are
concentrated on a central point in
front of the dish. The prime focus
is usually in the same plane as the
most central point on the reflector, While
An offset dish just like the name
suggests reflects the signals to an
offset position usually around 20
degrees offset.
The LNB on an offset dish
usually points at a false location
(not the satellite aimed by the
dish). The LNB and LNB arm of an
offset dish does not in any way
block the waves the dish is
receiving unlike the LNB and LNB
arms of a Prime focus dish. You have to be patient and skilled in installation for you to use prime focus to hit signal on those dishes. .....

Perfect answer, also the position of the an offset dish will not be the same as a prime focus dish for the same satellite to be nailed. While an offset dish can slant downward, a prime focus dish will be the opposite direction.

My humble experience are like this, after presenting my screening certificates for PDGE screening, my study center counselor wrote cleared on my credentials & asked me to make 3 copies each of the credentials then wait until 27th Feb before I will be given a Matric Number. Then I can proceed to register my courses.

My question now is:

1) Why wait till Feb 27th before I can become an eligible student?

2) What is really keeping me from receiving a Matric Number after my successful screening?

3) I know time is not my friend & I should be studying by now, Where can I get study materials even though am yet to register for any course.

4) what are the course I will register for PDGE first semester so that i can start early to sort out materials & prepare myself?

I have small questions, have gotten admission letter and I proceeded to my study center for clearance and Mat number but my clearance officer said I should get my results (since I used statement of my result to apply) before he can clear me.

My question is this, can I go to another study center & try my luck? Since the clearance ends tomorrow for me to obtain a Mat number and register for the semester?

Will the other centers refer me back to my registered study center?

I upgraded my strong decoder successful but now each time I insert USB drive into it, it'll be booting & offing repeatedly.

What can I do to make my decoder read & play USB files again?

I have the latest crosat firmware update for strong srt 4950H decoder specifically designed for Arabs (version 4.30p) with some powervu keys auto roll.

Should I install it on my decoder? Am currently on 16°E, can I possibly descramble any channels with it?

My journey so far on FTA using Strong SRT 4950H decoder with 1.8m supermax dish C band LNB has been a sorry one.

First, this is my first time experience with satellites television and satellite tracking of frequencies.

Being a newbie, I have encountered unprecedented & unimaginable hurdles that I never imagined.

1) I started off with the tools required for FTA and bought everything. Then I downloaded YouTube videos on installation of my 1.8m supermax dish.

2) Now, I have my dish set up and ready to roll but tracking a satellite signal is like mission impossible for me.

I have tried everything, from Main Menu on my decoder to dish setting and everything on my decoder main menu to hit green or at least receive a stable satellite signal all to no avail.

I have rotated my dish to face every possible East to West direction using map, Google locator, etc but nothing seems to be working.

Please if you are in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria; kindly come to my rescue and I will appreciate your assistance with a token. Below are photographs of my progress.
