Health / What Is Scrotal Eczema? by realestyomi(m): 1:44pm On Feb 26, 2018
Eczema is a non-contagious, itchy, and dry skin condition that affects individuals differently. There are many forms of eczema that have different underlying causes. Scrotal eczema is a form of eczema that affects the scrotum, the bag of skin containing the testicles.
Skin affected by eczema may produce less fat and oil than healthy skin. If this occurs, the skin will hold less water in, causing gaps to open up between the skin cells. These gaps allow bacteria and irritants to penetrate more easily and cause problems.

There is some debate about whether the condition is separate from eczema that occurs in other parts of the body. One 2013 article, for example, argues that it should be classified separately.

Scrotal eczema shares some of the same symptoms as eczema found elsewhere on the body. In this article, we look at these symptoms, along with steps to help treat and manage the condition.

Health / How You Can Improve Your Mental Health by realestyomi(m): 9:32am On Jan 12, 2018
Mental health is a level of psychological well-being, or an absence of mental illness. It is the “psychological state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioural adjustment. From the perspective of positive psychology or holism, mental health may include an individual’s ability to enjoy life, and create a balance between life activities and efforts to achieve psychological resilience. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health includes “subjective well-being, perceived self-efficacy, autonomy, competence, inter-generational dependence, and self-actualization of one’s intellectual and emotional potential, among others. The WHO further states that the well-being of an individual is encompassed in the realization of their abilities, coping with normal stresses of life, productive work and contribution to their community. Cultural differences, subjective assessments, and competing professional theories all affect how “mental health” is defined.

Below are ways in which you can improve your mental health

Limit Negative Self Talk

We all have those moments when we hear the chatter in our minds telling us that we’re not good enough or that we won’t be able to accomplish our goals. I like to call it the “itty bitty shitty committee.” Some days the shitty committee is quiet and we are full of confidence and roaring like a lion and then two days later the shitty committee is screaming loudly and we feel like we can’t do anything right. Here’s what you need to know about your negative self talk… It’s all a lie, don’t believe the hype! The key is awareness. When you catch yourself thinking those negative thoughts, tell the committee you’re not having it! Look at yourself in the mirror and say “I’m good enough to have peace, success and all my dreams.” Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones and you’ll soon find that the committee gets more and more quiet.

Practice Mindfulness

In our fast moving world, it’s becoming critical that we have the ability to quiet our minds, get still and connect with our inner being. Finding just 5 minutes a day to practice meditation or some other form of mindfulness can make dramatic shifts in your level of happiness and overall mental health. People who are depressed are usually spending too much time living in the past and people who constantly worry are spending too much time thinking about the future. Mindfulness allows you to just be in the present moment and develop an awareness and appreciation for what’s happening right now.

Health / Some Special Benefits Of Aloe Vera Juice? by realestyomi(m): 9:37am On Jan 11, 2018
Certain gifts of nature like aloe Vera juice can go a long way in blessing our lives in ways that we cannot imagine. We often take the things that nature offer us for granted but once in a while it is good to stop and decide what is indeed best for us. Most of us are too taken in by the glossy advertisements that promise instant results with no effort, and all you have to do to achieve that is spend a lot of money. However, frustration sets in when you find that your cupboard is piling up with products and yet none of them give you the results that you have hoped for. Maybe it is the time that we stop and take a look back so that we may decide what is truly important. And this is where herbal products can help us achieve goals that we always thought were impossible to attain.
Why is Aloe Vera preferred by all?

One of the principal herbal ingredients and one of the most in demand is Aloe Barbadensis. This herb is nothing short of a miracle, and there are few who are going to dispute this claim. Aloe Vera is enriched with Vitamin A, C, E and also packs in quite a few other micro nutrients and minerals. Aloe Vera juice has to be extracted from the plant and it might either be done at home, or one might just opt for the best aloe Vera juice, which is derived from entirely organic plants. The juice might be applied externally and can be consumed as well. However, it is always better to consult a doctor first when it comes to drinking it as he would be able to prescribe the dosage and the amount that should be consumed. Intake of this juice helps in keeping a sound digestive system and also helps in keeping the liver fully functional. It is almost like having your miracle cure at home by your side. Dermatologists, on the other hand, are very confident about prescribing this juice for hair and skin problems.

Just use your breath and stick with it while practicing yoga. Start slow and glide in steadily as there’s no need to rush. Move with ease and mindfully. You can always search for poses like downward facing dog, pigeon pose, cat and cow pose and upward facing dog for performing on a regular basis at least once a day.

Health / Can Diabetics Eat Bananas? by realestyomi(m): 9:08am On Nov 15, 2017
When a person has diabetes, they need to carefully consider the contents of each meal. This can be especially true for carbohydrate-containing food, which not only includes desserts and other sweet treats, but bread, pasta, and fresh fruits.
One fruit that traditionally has been on the “avoid” list for those with diabetes is bananas. However, for the most part, bananas eaten in moderation can be safely enjoyed when a person has diabetes.

Bananas grow on banana plants that can have anywhere from 50 to 150 bananas in each bunch of fruit. The individual bananas are sold in varying sizes, from small to extra-large, the size-grading being determined by their length.

Detoxes help you learn to slow down and truly appreciate every bite, every taste, every feeling – every input that comes through your senses. As you do so, you’ll learn to listen to your internal processes to become your truest self.

Health / Natural Ways To Cure Eczema For The Long Term by realestyomi(m): 10:08am On Nov 13, 2017
If you’re sick and tired of the continual itching from your eczema rash, then you will find this article useful. In it, you will find some tips for how to get rid of eczema at home using only natural methods and no medication. When your eczema condition is not severe, you can treat it with these eczema home remedies that don’t involve using any medically prescribed drugs.

Moisturize Your Dry Eczema Skin

When you suffer from eczema, you have a dry skin condition. This means that your skin does not provide an adequate barrier and so is open to irritations when allergens come into contact with it. The skin of an eczema sufferer does not retain moisture as well as someone who does not have the condition. This means your eczema skin needs far more attention and care. Moisturize with a natural eczema cream as often as you can to lock in moisture and improve the barrier to irritants.

Moisturizing after your bath is one of the best eczema treatments you can use. Take a warm, short bath or shower. Long hot baths and showers have a drying effect on your skin. Use a non-soap based cleanser as normal soap is very drying and can contain chemicals that will further irritate your skin. Add a natural oil like olive or tea tree oil to your bath. When drying with your towel use a patting motion rather than vigorous rubbing.

Make It A Habit To Read The Labels

When you have eczema you will need to become more aware of what ingredients are in the products you use in your home. Aim to use cleaning products which have fewer ingredients in them as these are more likely to be natural. Avoid products which contain known eczema irritants. Things like washing up detergent, laundry liquid, fabric softeners and any other ordinary household products can cause eczema rashes. You will need to keep trying different products until you find one that does not irritate your eczema rash.

Minimize Scratching

If your child has eczema and is scratching at night causing sores and bleeding, try getting them to wear gloves or mittens at night. All-in-one pyjamas will also stop them from scratching their skin directly. When they start scratching, try to distract them with an activity to take their minds off their itchy skin. Applying a moisturizer can also soothe the itching feeling too. Get your child to apply their own eczema emollient and reward them when they do.

Choose Clothing and Bed Linen Made From Natural Fibres

Some materials used to make our clothes and bed sheets can irritate skin that is prone to eczema. For this reason, you need to choose materials made from natural fibres like pure cotton or silk.

Health / Common Causes Of Belly Button Pain by realestyomi(m): 7:59am On Nov 08, 2017
There are many reasons someone may experience belly button pain. Some causes are related to serious and potentially fatal conditions, while others are simple, resolvable stomach issues.
Anyone experiencing belly button pain should talk to their doctor who can best determine whether or not the pain is serious. Many minor conditions can cause pain in the navel area and even radiate to other areas of the body, including the pelvis, legs, and chest.

Common causes include indigestion, constipation, and pregnancy. Treatment depends on the underlying cause.

Fast facts on belly button pain:

Pregnancy can cause women to have belly button pain.
Some temporary conditions can cause belly pain.
Anyone who has abdominal surgery can experience belly button pain.
Constipation can cause belly button pain, but it is usually not a serious condition.

Indigestion

Indigestion may be a cause of belly button pain.
Indigestion is also called dyspepsia or upset stomach. It causes pain, burning, or discomfort in the upper abdomen, radiating to the belly button area.

Indigestion can be treated with over-the-counter antacids and acid blockers.

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 1 in 4 people in America have experienced indigestion. Further, of those who see a doctor for indigestion, 3 in 4 people are diagnosed with functional dyspepsia.

Functional dyspepsia causes pain in the upper part of the stomach that radiates to the belly button. It is an ailment that comes and goes but has no known cause.

Much like indigestion, functional dyspepsia can be treated with over-the-counter antacids and acid blockers. Prescription acid suppressive therapies may help when these medications do not.

Pregnancy

Mild belly button pain is no cause for concern, but women who are experiencing any significant and ongoing discomfort and pain should report it to a doctor.

An umbilical hernia during pregnancy is another possible reason for belly button pain in pregnancy. However, these types of hernias are rare and affect women who are pregnant with multiples or who are severely obese and pregnant.

Symptoms of an umbilical hernia include:

a bulge near the belly button
swelling around the belly button
pain in, around, and near the belly button
nausea and vomiting

Constipation

Health / 10 Foods That Are Easy To Digest by realestyomi(m): 12:51pm On Nov 07, 2017
Certain foods tend to be easier to digest than others, something most of us have experienced for ourselves. Although the body needs various nutrients, including fiber, protein, and fats, some foods containing these can contribute to stomach issues.
Examples of this conundrum are foods that are high in good fiber, such as vegetables and wheat, but which may be harder to digest than simpler carbohydrates.

Also, fatty foods and some animal-based proteins take time for the body to break down and can mean hard work for the digestive system.

So, the foods that are good for someone are often the opposite of what they might enjoy eating when they have an acute illness.

In this article, we take a look at 10 easy-to-digest foods that may help people who are experiencing or recovering from illness.

Ten easy-to-digest foods

The foods listed below are usually more easily digested than other, more complex foods that take larger amounts of the body’s energy to break down.

1. Toast

toast is an easy to digest food
Toast is an easy to digest food that may be a staple of a bland diet.
Toast is often a staple of a bland diet. One reason for this is that it tends to be easy for the stomach and gut to digest.

Toast can be helpful to decrease nausea and reduce heartburn. But not all toast is the same.

Whole wheat bread is high in fiber and can be difficult for some people to digest. So, to avoid digestion problems, a person can stick to white toast and skip the butter when they have been unwell.

If someone has an intolerance to wheat or gluten-containing foods, they can choose a wheat or gluten-free bread option.

2. White rice

Rice is a grain that is a good energy source for the body’s needs. But not all grains are easy to digest. Those high in fiber, such as brown rice, can contribute to digestive issues, such as diarrhoea, bloating, and gas.

When looking for grains that are easy on the digestive system, white rather than brown rice may be a better option that will also provide carbohydrates for energy.

3. Saltine crackers

Saltine crackers are often suggested to treat nausea and indigestion, as well as morning sickness. Crackers contain carbohydrates for energy and are bland, which makes them digestion-friendly.

4. Bananas

Health / Ways To Get Rid Of Vaginal Dryness by realestyomi(m): 10:07am On Sep 25, 2017
A lot of women suffer from midlife crisis. This is usually characterized with low libido and vaginal dryness. Problems like these can put sex on the backseat. It’s hardly surprising that most women lose their desire to have sex in the middle age. An excessively dry vagina can make intercourse extremely painful. Not just this, women going through this problem experience constant burning sensation in the vagina leaving them with little desire to have sex.

Lack of sex can eventually take a toll on your relationship. After all, your man needs to be satisfied sexually and if you are not able to do so, he might look for other alternatives.

Fortunately, it is possible to get rid of this problem naturally and safely.

Here are some simple ways to get rid of menopause or vaginal dryness:

1. Boost EstrogenEstrogen Production in Your Body

One of the main causes of vaginal dryness is a drop in the production of your female sex hormone estrogen. This is the hormone that keeps walls of your vagina thick and moist. A drop in its production post menopause makes vaginal walls thin dry.

Thus, by increasing estrogen production, you can get over this problem. One of the best ways to do so is with the help of foods that are known for their estrogen boosting effects. Soy and products are the best examples of such foods. Some of the others include flaxseed, sesame seeds, chickpeas, beans, peas etc.

Moreover, you must also include essential fats in your diet since your body needs such fats for the production of hormones like estrogen and testosterone. Olives, olive oil, and fish like tuna, salmon etc. are the best

Health / Too Much Salt Could Increase Diabetes Risk by realestyomi(m): 4:40pm On Sep 19, 2017
Researchers suggest that sodium - which we commonly ingest through salt, or sodium chloride - could increase the risk of type 2 diabetes and latent autoimmune diabetes in adults.
Diabetes is a common condition that affects more than 29 million people in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Type 2 diabetes accounts for up to 95 percent of all diagnosed cases and is characterized by abnormal levels of blood sugar.

This type of diabetes is most often diagnosed in middle-aged and senior people. Another metabolic condition called latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is often misdiagnosed as type 2 diabetes; it also appears later in adulthood.

LADA is a more slowly progressing disease, and it does not initially require insulin treatment.

A new study conducted by Dr Bahareh Rasouli, of the Institute of Environmental Medicine at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden - in collaboration with researchers from other Swedish and Finnish institutions - now looks at the impact of sodium intake on the risk of type 2 diabetes and LADA.

The researchers have presented their findings at the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, held in Lisbon, Portugal.

High sodium intake may be a risk factor

Existing research had already suggested that the sodium we usually absorb from our daily intake of salt may significantly increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The team explains that this may be because sodium impacts insulin resistance, but also because excess salt can lead to hypertension and gaining excess weight. But until now, no studies had looked at the impact of sodium intake on the risk of LADA.

Dr Rasouli and colleagues analyzed data from the Epidemiological Study of Risk Factors for LADA and Type 2 Diabetes, which is a large Swedish cohort study.

The team looked at data from 355 people diagnosed with LADA and 1,136 individuals with type 2 diabetes, comparing the results of this analysis with the findings from a healthy group of 1,379 individuals (the controls).
Questionnaires were used to collect information about the participants' daily diets. These data then allowed the team to calculate the daily caloric, nutrient, and sodium intake for each participant.

Dr Rasouli and colleagues also took into consideration genetic risk factors for diabetes, and the participants were split into "high risk" and "other" categories depending on their genetic profile.

Confounding variables, including age, sex, body mass index (BMI), smoking, physical activity levels, and alcohol intake, were also adjusted for.

The researchers found that each extra gram of sodium (or 2.5 grams of salt) per day was linked to a 43 percent higher risk of type 2 diabetes. For LADA, each extra gram of sodium led to a 73 percent increase in developing the condition.

Health / Lagos Completes 'nigeria's First DNA Laboratory by realestyomi(m): 12:25pm On Sep 19, 2017
The Lagos State Government on Sunday said it had completed the construction of the first ever high-powered DNA Forensic Laboratory in Nigeria.

Adeniji Kazeem, the State's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, who disclosed this in a statement said skeletal work had already commenced in the lab known as the Lagos State DNA Forensics Centre (LSDFC), and that it would be formally commissioned in coming weeks.

The State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, had last year approved the construction of the DNA forensic lab as part of the criminal justice sector reforms designed to solve crime through technology and fulfil an unmet need for DNA profiling in the country.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos to announce activities lined up by the state government to commemorate the 2017 United Nations International Day of Peace, Mr. Kazeem said DNA laboratory "just opened this month.
http://9jahealth.com.ng/lagos-completes-nigerias-first-dna-laboratory/

The state's Attorney General, who was represented at the briefing by Funlola Odunlami, the State's Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, said the lab, among other initiatives of the state government, was part of efforts geared toward enhancing peace in the State.

"We are yet to commission it but it has been opened and it is a DNA crime forensic lab and at the same time, it is going to deal with other DNA matters like paternity issue," said Mr. Kazeem.

He recalled that since 2007, the state government through the Citizens' Mediation Centre (CMC), an agency under the Ministry of Justice, commenced collaborations with the United Nations Information Office to mark the International Day of Peace as an annual event to propagate the ethos of peaceful co-existence among residents in the State, thereby educating and sensitizing the public on the need for peaceful co-existence and respect for human dignity to engender socio-economic growth.

Some of the most interesting health benefits of thyme include its ability to reduce respiratory issues, boost the strength of the immune system, protect against chronic diseases, stimulate blood flow, prevent fungal infections, improve heart health, and relieve stress.

What Is Thyme?

The most common form of thyme has the scientific name Thymus vulgaris and is an evergreen shrub that has been used in medicinal and culinary applications for thousands of years. The herb is native to the Mediterranean region and certain parts of Africa, and its use dates back to the Egyptian empire. In terms of its culinary use, the stems and the leaves are used in various dishes, either in whole or dried form. It is usually added to soups, sauces, meat dishes, and is used as a flavorful garnish. The leaves can be removed from the stems and ground into a finer spice, or the entire sprig can be added to flavour a larger dish or stew.

Its medicinal history includes the use of its essential oil, but the full list of health benefits of thyme essential oil can be found in a separate article on Organic Facts. The leaves can be brewed into a useful tea and a decoction can be made with carrier oils or creams to apply topically to the body. Now, let’s take a more detailed look at some of the health benefits of thyme.

Health Benefits Of Thyme

Anti-fungal Ability

The most famous active ingredient found in thyme is thymol. This organic compound has a wide range of effects on the body, including the ability to prevent fungal and viral infections, thereby reducing strain on the immune system.

Antioxidant Capacity

With one of the highest antioxidant concentrations in any herb, thyme has been praised for thousands of years as an overall health booster. The phenolic antioxidants found in thyme, including lutein, zeaxanthin, and thymonin all contribute to neutralizing and eliminating free radicals throughout the body. Free radicals are the dangerous byproducts of cellular metabolism that can do major damage to your healthy cells by causing apoptosis or spontaneous mutation. These antioxidants help to prevent oxidative stress in all of your organ systems, as well as your neural pathways, heart, eyes, and skin.

Improves Circulation

The high concentration of iron and other essential minerals in thyme make it ideal for stimulating the production of red blood cells, thereby boosting your body’s circulations and the oxygenation of essential organ systems and extremities throughout the body.

Health / How Eating Fish Can Help Boost Your Muscle Growth by realestyomi(m): 11:27am On Sep 12, 2017
When it comes to the “best” bodybuilding foods, chicken and beef are usually ranked ahead of fish. Besides canned tuna, the protein found in fish isn't as highly regarded as other types of meat. But we think seafood should get its due, considering it not only helps build muscle, but it’s a great way to protect your health too.

You can choose among any virtually fat-free fillets, such as flounder and sole, or higher-fat versions like salmon—few foods on Earth are as good a source of healthy omega-3 fatty acids as salmon.

Now, we’re not saying that chicken and beef shouldn’t remain in your bodybuilding nutrition plan—they definitely should—but fish should play an important role, too, as it offers certain advantages over other sources of protein. Here are reasons seafood dishes should be a significant part of your diet.

Fish is lean

When you’’re dieting to shed body fat, you have to balance different objectives and cutting total calories, reducing fats and carbs, and simultaneously increasing protein consumption. Rely on lean fish as a staple of your diet because it meets all these objectives. Fish is also a great food to turn to during a diet when weight loss slows. Before cutting back further on carb consumption when you hit a plateau, try replacing much of your dietary protein which naturally contains fat with lean types of fish. Lean fish has less fat than most lean cuts of meat. You’ll be able to take in the same amount of protein, yet consume fewer calories. This will allow you to keep carbs at a relatively moderate intake level and you won’t feel too depleted. Switching to fish in the middle of a diet can help delay the necessity of lowering your carb consumption.

To get ripped, include the following types of seafood in your diet: sole, tuna, flounder, haddock, scallops, shrimp and crab. These are all extremely low in fat and high in protein.

Health / FG Panel Accuses NHIS Boss, Others Of ₦919m Fraud by realestyomi(m): 1:44pm On Sep 11, 2017
The panel set up by the Federal Ministry of Health to probe the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Prof. Usman Yusuf, and other activities at the NHIS has submitted its report to the Presidency.
Our correspondent, who visited the Presidential Villa on Friday, was given a copy of the report by a senior government official.
The panel described Yusuf as a public servant who “portrayed a holier-than-thou attitude but in the background, milked the agency dry” by conniving with others to perpetrate fraud to the tune of over ₦919m.
According to the panel, the sum of ₦919m was dubiously given as payment to consultants for staff training. The committee said, as the head of the agency, Yusuf was personally responsible for all administrative, procurement and financial lapses.
The report read, “His (Yusuf) deceitful attitude coupled with ‘name-dropping’ of Mr. President as having sent him to sanitise the NHIS caused more harm than good to the scheme.” The committee, therefore, recommended that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission probe the agency for diversion of funds and contravention of the Procurement Act of 2007.
The report stated that Yusuf contravened the act through nepotism and other irregular awards of contracts and should be sanctioned in line with the provision of the act.
Explaining how the alleged staff training scam took place, the committee said in some instances, the number of trainees was far more than the entire number of employees at the agency, while in some other instances, some employees were registered for the same training in two different states at the same time.
Most of the consultants were said to have charged about ₦250,000 per participant.
The report read, “The total number of staff at the NHIS is 1,360. The total number of staff trained by the scheme based on analysis of payment vouchers on training was 1,992, while the figure submitted by the NHIS was 2,023 within three months (October-December 2016).
The difference between the number of staff trained and the number of staff on the nominal roll was as a result of manipulation of names. It was discovered that some staff did not attend (training) but payments were made for both course fee and staff allowances.”
The panel alleged that some consultants were directed to remit part of their fees into a specified private account as kickbacks.
For instance, GK Kanki Foundation was reportedly directed by the Assistant General Manager (Insurance) at the NHIS, Mr. Vincent Mamdam, to pay N2.8m into a Skye Bank account with number 1040569204 belonging to one Magaji Garba.
The committee revealed that “The total course fees paid to the training firms was ₦508, 036, 096 while staff allowances for all the training was ₦411, 608, 704 totalling ₦919, 644, 800.”
According to the panel, the Procurement Department of the NHIS was not involved in the engagement of consultants for all the training programmes as the transactions were basically between the suspended NHIS boss and the Human Resources Department in contravention of the standard procurement process.
The committee said huge sums of money were also diverted through local and foreign trips taken by NHIS employees.

Health / 5 Super Foods That Should Be Eating Daily For A Healthy Living by realestyomi(m): 8:45am On Sep 11, 2017
People ignored good and healthy eating in the past and instead concentrated their efforts on treating illnesses and diseases. This has been found to be counterproductive as it is cheaper to prevent a disease than to treat it.

Now that we all are becoming more enlightened as to the reasons why we should pay more attention to what we eat, we need to do the best within our strength to achieve a state of positive health by investing in good food, no matter what it would cost to do so.

But what actually constitutes a good food? What types of foods should we or should we not eat? Don’t worry! That’s exactly why I am here – to show you what would help you build your health even though you are on a low budget.

5 Super Foods That Should Be Eating Daily For a Healthy Living

Green Beans

Green beans is a proteinous and high-fiber food, which is highly recommended because of its ability to prevent weight gain and also help you lose weight without dieting. Increasing one’s intake of green beans helps in losing weight. If you increase your fiber by 8 grams for every 1,000 calories you take, you will lose about 4½ pounds in the long run.

But should we recommend green beans only because it helps you in losing weight? No, of course! These peas have several health gains which you should benefit from. Studies have shown that green beans can cut the risk of diabetes, obesity and heart disease, including death rates.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Nutrient Database, one cup of canned snap green beans has 2.6 grams of fiber, 28 calories, 1.94 grams of sugar, 5.66 grams of carbohydrate, 0.55 grams of fat, and 1.42 grams of protein. It equally has some quantities of magnesium, potassium, calcium, Vitamin A, folate, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin, thiamin, and vitamin K.

Research by the Oregon State University shows that green beans contain chlorophyll, which is capable of blocking the carcinogenic impacts of heterocyclic amines produced when meats are grilled at a high temperature.

If you have never given green beans a thought, this should really interest you. Research conducted by the Harvard Medical School showed that green beans have the ability to promote fertility in women due to its rich iron content.

A cup of green beans gives you about 10 percent of folic acid and 6 percent of the iron your body needs. Since these are both needed for a viable pregnancy to be sustained, eating green beans remains a good source of getting them.

Spinach

Spinach is one of the plants that can easily give you omega-3 fatty acids and folate, which play a significant role in preventing stroke, heart diseases, and osteoporosis. In addition, folate helps to improve blood supply to the hindmost parts of the body, thereby assisting in guarding you against sexual problems that are related to age.

Health / Keto Diet And Its Health Benefits by realestyomi(m): 11:17am On Sep 07, 2017
A keto diet refers to a ketogenic diet, which is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carb diet. The goal is to get more calories from protein and fat than from carbs. It works by depleting your body of its store of sugar, so it will start to break down protein and fat for energy, causing ketosis (and weight loss).

One extremely popular version of a keto diet is the Atkins diet.

Read on to learn the benefits of the keto diet.

1. Aids in weight loss

It takes more work to turn fat into energy than it takes to turn carbs into energy. Because of this, a ketogenic diet can help speed up weight loss. And since the diet is high in protein, it doesn't leave you hungry like other diets do. In a meta-analysis of 13 different randomized controlled trials, 5 outcomes revealed significant weight loss from a ketogenic diet.

2. Reduces acne

There are a number of different causes of acne, and one may be related to diet and blood sugar. Eating a diet high in processed and refined carbohydrates can alter gut bacteria and cause more dramatic blood sugar fluctuations, both of which can have an influence on skin health. Therefore, by decreasing carb intake, it's not a surprise that a ketogenic diet could reduce some cases of acne.

3. May help reduce risk of cancer

The ketogenic diet has recently been investigated a great deal for how it may help prevent or even treat certain cancers. One study found that the ketogenic diet may be a suitable complementary treatment to chemotherapy and radiation in people with cancer. This is due to the fact that it would cause more oxidative stress in cancer cells than in normal cells.

Other theories suggest that because the ketogenic diet reduces high blood sugar, it could reduce insulin complications, which may be associated with some cancers.

4. Improves heart health

Health / Menopause And Your Sex Life by realestyomi(m): 8:53am On Sep 06, 2017
Menopause and Sex Life. Not two words you necessarily associate together but actually, the menopause can have a profound effect on your sex life, and not in a good way.

If you’ve had a healthy sex drive up to this phase of your life, it can make you feel under pressure to continue your sex life at the same level as before. Unfortunately, your body has other ideas! For a lot of women, they just feel too tired and then guilty at the fact you’re saying ‘not tonight’ again.

Be assured though, it’s totally normal to not feel in the mood!

Your ovaries stop producing oestrogen which can cause vaginal dryness and make sex painful and difficult, and over time lessen your desire as it just feels too much like hard work.

Hot flushes and night sweats also don’t exactly put you in the mood and make bedtime a sexy place to be! And the weight you’ve gained is seriously affecting your confidence and making you feel pretty rubbish.

Add to that a dip in your testosterone levels, which plays a key role in a woman’s sex drive and sexual sensation, and you can understand why so many women in their 40’s and 50’s have a reduced sex drive. Especially as our sexual desires naturally decline with age anyway.

The good news is you don’t just have to suffer through and accept this as your lot!

There are things you can do to help boost your sex drive and put you in the mood.

Here are some top tips:

1. Diet. Certain foods have been found to increase libido:

Magnesium rich foods including green leafy vegetables, beans and pulses boost levels of your sex hormones.
Phytoestrogens such as flaxseeds and soy beans naturally mimic oestrogen in your body and increase your sex drive

Health / Easy Technique That Lowers Anxiety And Stress Hormones by realestyomi(m): 6:51am On Sep 04, 2017
Do you ever struggle with things like distraction, insomnia, easy weight gain or energy crashes? I sure have, at various times. From talking to lots of people about their health, I’ve realized probably all of us have these symptoms to some degree. I’ll explain how your mind can be a trigger for many of these symptoms and how you can help it work better.

I’ve proposed that most of our modern symptoms can be traced back to the stress response. This response was a good thing when we lived like cavemen and cavewomen, but in the modern world, it gets set off far too often in situations in which it is no longer helpful. If we can keep this stress response in check, we will feel happier, have better relationships and fewer health issues.

As hard as we try to manage the many events around us, our mind alone can be one of the biggest triggers of the stress response.

It's Normal To Be Fearful

Imagine your great, great, great (1,000 more greats) grandmother roughly 20,000 years ago. She is fast asleep near a fire when she hears a branch break from the dark forest nearby. She could assume it was something harmless (like the wind) and go back to sleep, or she could feel fear and panic and alert the rest of her tribe to a possible predator.

Those who panicked easily felt more stress, but also survived better and produced easily-panicked offspring, like us.
