1. I didn't ask if Jesus Christ built His Church since I know that Jesus Christ said He built- of His own hands, not the hands of men - His Church.

2. I am afraid you are mistaken since you never did any of that. Particularly since nowhere in the Gospels did Jesus Christ give such authority to any man this since He said He alone is the authority over each one of those who belong in His Church - Matthew 23 vs 8 - 10 & Matthew 6 vs 24 & John 10 vs 7 - 16 & Matthew 20 vs 24 - 24 ...He alone is Teacher, Head/Master, Leader/Authority, Shepherd etc.

In regards to authority like I earlier said ,the pattern of God having men act on his behalf has been even from the old testament prophets ,Amos 3:7 ,Christ extended this authority to Peter giving the keys of the kingdom, clearly stating that whatever he binds on earth will be same in heaven clearly meaning he has been given authority to act on his behalf and he,Peter, is been recognized as one having this authority, my earlier citing of scriptures explains this and Hebrews 5:4 outlines how one is given this authority to act in God's behalf .

With This authority given to Peter in the ancients he was able to not only teach the gospel of Christ with conviction but also receive revelations concerning the church in general, hence from the scriptures we can see that indeed Christ did extend this authority to Peter as he was in fore front of many pivotal events after the resurrection of Christ, for unto Peter did Christ say "feed my sheep",Peter stood to teach the people on the day of Pentecost, Peter receive the revelation for the gospel to be preached to the gentiles, Paul was called to the ministry upon revelation given to Peter ,Peter,James and John made up the presiding council ,all this I cited scriptures to explain that indeed Christ did give authority to men to act on his behalf, without it they couldn't act on his behalf ,remember that guy who thought he could buy the authority the apostles had with money? Yep authority of God cant be bought either ,hebrews clarified that.

As the other already informed you, Jesus Christ did not in fact mean that Peter was the rock on which His Church is built, this since the church is instead built on the teachings(and commandments) of Jesus Christ, the one who is described as the Vine - John 15 vs 1 - 11 where all His followers, including Peter , are branches directly off the vine.

Now to the Peter issue as I cited in the scriptures I shared earlier, Peter was given administrative role in the church hence he had the responsibility to receive revelation for the church in general, this revelations included teachings,prophecies,instructions and etc on how the church operates and all this for the perfecting of the saints(members of Christ church were referred to as saints ,having received the gospel ,baptized and received the gift of the holy ghost ).

Like I cited in Ephesians earlier, Apostles and Prophets make up the foundation upon which the church stood in the ancients, by revelation Peter received the declaration for the gospel to be preached to the gentiles and in turn set apart Paul to the ministry, Paul received this call at the blessing of the pillars of the church i.e Peter,James an John ,the presiding council,I cited Galatians to this regard.

Priesthood authority has always been important in the ministry hence unto Peter did Christ said I give unto you the keys of the kingdom and whatever he(Peter) bound on earth same was in heaven ,that's authority recognised by God,without it an individual acting in God's name without been called of God is like a good fellow controlling traffic but won't receive pay from the government since he/she is not an official traffic warden and backed by law.

Not everyone in his church exercise these keys of the kingdom base on the mere fact that they accept Christ as their Lord and savior ,no way,that's chaotic, hence Hebrews 5:4 spells out how this is done,the calling of Paul to the ministry to the gentiles followed this pattern ,this keys of the kingdom refers to priesthood authority,Galatians 2:9 (The presiding council extending the call to Paul to the gentile after Peter received the revelation that it was time for the gospel to extended to those of non Jewish lineage ).

That church had several offices of responsibility to cater for his sheep ,yet one church one doctrine not denominations of any sort ,not ones of Paul or ones of Peter, nope one church one leader with Christ as the chief corner stone ,all these various offices of the priesthood were present in his church for the perfecting of the saints i.e they who have come into a covenant with God upon hearing the gospel of christ via baptism and receiving the gift of the holy ghost ,Acts 2:36-39,Ephesians 4:19-22,4:9-16.


A trip down history of the early saints will help you see the wonderful events that led to rise of various denominations ,it's beautiful.

Jesus would not predicate the entirety of his divine assignment on another human with frailties. Even when that person would deny him a short while later.
I believe Jesus' statement was that his church would be built on that powerful statement uttered by Peter in the earlier verse:
