For all the old timers here, please how long does it usually take for Lagos VAC to process and return passports on the average? Mine was delivered yesterday and since those who submitted since last two weeks are yet to give us feedback, I must assume that it takes well over 2 weeks. Would that be correct? I'm just curious because I want to start planning ahead of an estimated time.

hi
for those that have a visa for Winter 2021 when best is it for one to travel, so as to avoid being turned back
You can travel anytime your passport is returned. Has it been returned?
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by rebecausoro: 12:36pm On Nov 04, 2020
Does this thread include students in Canada?

If so, I need assistance on the following

1. How long does it usually take to get your passport returned after it is sent to the VFS at Lagos? Can I travel immediately I get the passport back?

2. I've seen the list of some stuffs to carry but are there any specific tips for students travelling to Canada? If there is a post that has specifically treated this, I wouldn't mind being directed there too.

Thanks guys.

Hello Everyone and congrats to all approvals..
I have been reading and I have a question.
Can anyone recommend a course for an English graduate that will can get one a job after study in Canada?.i don’t mind diversifying too.
Thank you
If you made a 2:1, apply to the Masters programme of the Department of Folklore, MUN.

If you made a 2:2, apply to PGD programmes in Journalism, Creative Writing, Publishing, Public Relations, Human Resources, etc.

Ok roger that,

I would go to their office.

Like how much can one budget in terms of enough cash? cos I won't be paying transmission fee due to the fact that my passport & other documents will be going to the VAC office I did my BIOMETRICS
And make sure to use DHL. I am not advertising them sha but I sent my passport yesterday from Uyo and it was delivered this morning.

The amount depends on your location but go there with cash of between N6,000-N8,0000.

Lekiboboe:
Hi Rebecca,

How did you send your Passport and the other documents via DHL?

Did you go to their office or you called them to meet you at your Location?

Thanks
I called their customer agent a day earlier and arranged for a pickup. However, you can easily go to their office if it is close to you. Just make sure you go with enough cash (for waybill and insurance) and then declare that you are sending a passport. This is very essential because your passport has to be insured. Nobody prays for bad things to happen but this is Nigeria! If anything happens, DHL will help you get a new passport free of charge.

Here's my story. Let me also motivate others just as I was motivated when I came to this thread

I applied for a Masters in Folklore at MUN after suffering to get a supervisor last year. In fact, I suffered numerous rejections when I wanted a supervisor for an MSc in Sociology (where I did my first degree). I had applied to UAlberta and USask and was rejected. So someone advised me to switch to Folklore and I did. MUN is one of the few schools offering this programme and they accept students from Arts and Social Science backgrounds. The department doesn't get too many students and so my admission was very easy and straightforward. I even got funding of $25,000 and my supervisor later added $2000 when I started the semester online. It's a thesis program and I'm going to work on aspects of Ibibio Folklore.

My timeline and documents:
Applied May 17th
Eligibility review started around June
Medical request came last week of July
Did medicals August 4th (passed one week after)
AIP came August 6th
Biometrics was completed August 24th
BVL came November 2nd
PPR came November 3rd
Passport sent November 3rd

I submitted my funding letter of approximately $25,000. Tuition is $5000. So I have the balance as living expenses.
Bank statement of close to 1 million naira.
Employment letter and letter of introduction from employer
Payslips
ID card
Parents' employment letters, birth and marriage certificates
Siblings' birth certificates
My birth certificate
Deeds of parents' landed properties
SOP (with a few grammatical errors that I later discovered)
Certificates and transcript

I didn't submit police report. I didn't have a fat account or sponsor (just funding). I'm not a religious person as such too so I won't say I prayed and fasted but I believe in God and I know he took control.

Many thanks to everyone on this thread. I learnt alot and it wouldn't have been easy without your comments and assistance, even to questions that I didn't ask directly.

I'm an impatient person. It's one of my human flaws. I just don't know how to wait. I don already prepare everything for ground before now. I called the DHL people prior to confirm everything and simply went there as the request came.
Besides, I'm sending from Uyo. It will not get to Lagos today or even tomorrow. I needed to make things move faster.

Thank you so much! Is transmission fee applicable to you? If so, did you pay and attach receipt or something?

The courier, one way or two?
I sent to the center where I enrolled for biometrics so I didn't have to pay for transmission fee. Courier is one way. The VAC will ask you to pay for return courier when your passport has been stamped.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by rebecausoro: 11:07am On Nov 03, 2020
Dame24:
Please what other documents did you attach?
Two copies of signed consent forms
Two copies of passport
Passport itself
Passport request letter
Biometric confirmation slips

Ensure that your passport is insured by the courier company. I paid extra N2,500 for that.

I wish everyone of us good luck and success in our journey to Canada. God bless us all!
Congratulations! What was the exact time you got the PPR today? And which office was it from?

Hello Rebecausoro, what's the content of the letter you attached, please.
It was a plea for priority processing of my application. I gave reasons why I need priority processing. The letter was addressed to the Visa Officer, Embassy of China (and their address).

I also did another one for Nairobi too.

Pimp04:
Okay I will do this right away, I applied March 24, got AIP 6th Aug and since then no update. Please when did you apply?
I applied on May 17th. Last week, I sent three webforms to Beijing. Someone suggested that I should write a letter, sign it and then attach as a PDF in the webform. You could try that too. I learnt it makes them treat your webform request faster. The person could be wrong but the last webform I sent was on Friday and I got BVL this morning.
