Qwerty7654:Thanks. I sent a PM to the person. |
Is there anyone scheduled for medicals this week that can swap or exchange their slots even if for a little price? I have a friend who needs to do his requested medicals this week. Preferably QLife, but I don't think my friend cares at this point. |
I'll be going offline for a while so that I can focus on my exams. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully, I'll come back after my exams and assist those who have just started their journey by answering questions. This thread made an impact in my life and others should take advantage of the wealth of knowledge here. Ciao guys. |
Dameelee:Thank you. I used my funding letter. Just a simple letter stating how much the department offered me. |
brovaSketch:It could be a new one. They won't scrutinize it thoroughly. They just want proof that you have it and that you have access to the money there. |
LordAA:I didn't print it. I showed it from my phone but take care when filling it so that the correct confirmation page will come up. |
Siobhanle:Once you enroll for classes, you can get the letter. |
Whispering:Nooo. Get a signed letter from your university. The letter should indicate that you are registered as a student for the term. |
fratermathy:I'm just 4hours, 30minutes behind Nigeria time. It's easier to deal with it. Maybe you should try staying awake (take coffee or something) till night time in Montreal. |
MadeMan01:I didn't do any test and no one asked for them. They didn't even check my temperature or anything. It was almost as if they didn't care about Covid-19. We only wore facemasks. |
badmanjo:Thanks. The POF I showed them was my funding letter. She just read it and that was all. However, if you're self sponsored or have a third party sponsor, it may be wise to travel with a soft copy or printed copy of the SOA. They aren't concerned about cash at hand. One thing I observed about the Canadian border officers is that they're humane and understanding. If you explain yourself honestly and show them proof of what they asked for, even if it's soft copy, they'll acknowledge it. Unlike Nigerian immigration officers that were begging me money before stamping me out. |
Complete landing gist I flew from Uyo to Lagos on Tuesday evening and I stayed with a family friend for the night. I arrived the airport around 10am for a flight of 1.40pm. I thought I was early until I saw the queue. Quick tip: even if your flight is for 6pm, get to the airport around 12pm and stay there till they are ready for you . Ethiopian airlines usually do manual verifications of all students travelling to Canada. You really need to be there on time for this because the man doing it is slow and doesn't care about your time. He asked for proof of enrollment, admission letter, ArriveCAN slip, and visa page. Please make at least two copies of all of these too. After showing him, he'll snap and then send to someone via WhatsApp to verify. Once confirmed, your passport will be given a number and you'll then proceed to where it will be scanned again for secondary verification. After this stage, you will then go to where you can get a boarding pass. The plane left Lagos around 2pm. I was seated at the back and had space to stretch legs . We got to Addis Ababa around 7pm (Nigeria time) and then we entered a long queue for onward movement. From Addis Ababa, we went to Dublin for refueling and then to Toronto. Upon arrival, we talk a long walk (very long o) and got to immigration people. The woman that attended to me asked for these (in the following order):1. Declaration slip (will be given to you in the airplane) 2. Passport 3. LOI 4. Student Status letter (enrolment letter) 5. School fees/tuition receipt 6. ArriveCAN page (apparently, I didn't even fill my own well and was delayed for a while. Make sure you fill yours well) 7. POF 8. LOA She asked me the following: Which department were you admitted into? Why did you choose MUN? What is your name? Then she took my finger prints and issued me a Study Permit for 3 years (my program is for 2 years but I don't know why it was issued in excess). I went to wait board a St John's flight after a long wait at the airport. Got to St. John without qualms. Reach my apartment, checked in and slept off. Exams start on Monday. Canada is beautiful and nice. I love the place. Good luck to all who are applying or will soon come. It has ended in praises. |
I'm in St. John's now after 20 hours of flight from Lagos to St John's via Addis Ababa, Dublin, and Toronto. I was so tired that I just entered my room and slept off. I couldn't even celebrate my landing. Gist is loading soon... |
daks02:I'm really sorry. I have many many unread or unreplied mails. This period has been extremely busy as I am trying to travel and preparing for exams at the same time. The email linked to this Nairaland account is not my main email so I don't check it often. I'll reply you now. |
Today's the day. Finally. ![]() Just a quick check: I have my LOI, stamped passport, proof of enrollment, LOA, Funding award letter (as POF), and ArriveCAN receipt. Do I need any other thing? I didn't do COVID-19 test and I'm flying with Ethiopia Airlines. |
Dameelee:Customercare@vfsglobal.com |
MadeMan01: . I've mentally left Nigeria since September. it's just for my body to now cooperate. |
Lekiboboe:Next tomorrow. That story will definitely follow ![]() |
Pimp04:Yes. They delivered from Lagos to Uyo. |
Yay! Got my passport exactly 10 mins ago. Lagos tomorrow. St John's next tomorrow. |
daks02:I know they don't deliver over the weekend but I'm thinking that they'll ship out. I'm in Uyo and I really hope they can give it to their Uyo office before Monday so that delivery will be easy. DHL usually does that. I don't know about UPS. |
Kimkalash:You can get it next week if you really disturb them the way I did. Send them a reminder mail every morning and evening. Copy that mail to communications@vfsglobal.com. Send your mails too to feedback.cannig@vfsglobal.com (notice that it isn't vfshelplines.com that we normally send to). Go on Twitter and Facebook and look for VFSGlobal official pages and send them DMs every day. Call their numbers too just to be sure. Feel free to send your emails to their other email addresses for Schengen visa, South Africa, etc. They usually forward such mails to the Canada section once received because they work as one. Above all, don't book a flight for next week. Book for next two weeks (weekend). |
Mmesomamichael:I got that mail last week Thursday. I'm yet to get my passport till now. Give yourself one week and 3 days to be safe. |
fratermathy:I won't need to fight them. Mine just started working. I really hope they ship to Uyo over the weekend and don't leave it in Lagos. I need that passport back on Monday. |
Those who got their tracking numbers today. Is yours working yet? Mine says tracking number not found. |
Dame24:I'm really sorry about this. I honestly thought they would process ours together. VFS is a mad company. Do they randomly do things or what? Don't relent. Send them an email and complain about this. Hopefully, you'll be in the Monday batch. |
Blavkmaann:Same thing here. As she called the tracking number, the line went off. Very crazy people. |
Mmesomamichael:Just press the following keys if you get that general visa message 3 1 2 1 And speak to an agent. Ask the agent to transfer you to a Canada agent |
Blavkmaann:Is your tracking number working? Mine is saying "not found". Or maybe they'll update it later. It feels good to be free from the Village Fellows Society (VFS Lagos). |
Rootiab:I'm already a MUN student. Since September . However, I'm travelling next week. |
Blavkmaann:I called them via the second number and got mine. |
Dee4Doyinsola:Thanks for the kind words. I've been depressed sef. Exam starts on Monday. I've asked my professors to delay my exam by a week because if I write in this mood, I may not be at my best. They were all understanding and gave me the time. Check your email for update from VFS. |
