I will marry her, provided she does not use her knowledge to legislate how many pieces of meat I am entitled to eat.
roflmao, she may use her love to achieve the same feat anyway.

I've also noticed that men are less picky when it comes to a partners profession but women prefer to move according to their class for eg, a female doctor will love to marry a man in the same class but a male doctor can marry a girl selling onions faithfully.

profession need not matter weather to marry someone or not, so far you guys are okay for each other. and whats with the law profession, because i am actually hoping i get a pretty faithful lawyer for wife. but in the case of police,,,,,that one get as him be because i heard that because of the curse on the bribe their wife soup they always sour, so if u love him so much to manage sour suop everyday, then be it.

omo ibo how far naa, long time.
There is a myth that female lawyers are belligerent, divorce prone and rarely allow their husbands to head the home. On the issue of police, what is bribery? It's not every dime they make that are dirty. Some get enough money from drivers who give them money out of goodwill and not because they obtained it from them.

for one . . I no dey marry poor Jobless man, worst of all politicians?

my own love no dey recognize that as an option.
I've also heard some ladies complaining about politicians that they are only married to two things: Abuja and contracts, most of them get intimate with their wives at a frequency of once every 6 months but the truth is that politician is not always a profession and people in it do not usually start on time, they must have married before engaging into active politics.

Will you refuse to marry him/her because of his/her LEGAL profession? I had an aunt to refused to marry her lover then just because he's a policeman. Her parents justified her excuses claiming that policemen take bribes and the bribes they take affect their families and generations to come. She dumped him. I've also overheard people make sliding comments about women that are lawyers.

What's your take?
If he/she is not doing anything illegal and you are not materialistic, will you still consider someones profession before rolling with him/her?

Did you know that it was the cremation of Jesus Christ that popularise cremation in England?
Jesus Christ of nazareth was never cremated. He was buried in Joseph of Arimathea's tomb from where he rose after 3 days. Get your facts right for once. He later ascended to heaven.
Christianity Etc › Re: Cremation by RedHotChic(op): 11:00am On Jun 13, 2008
Cremation was forced into British law when a Welsh doctor, William Price burned his infant son, named Jesus Christ, in a Pagan ritual shortly before 1883 in the historic town of Llantrisant. The doctor was a well known eccentric whose cremation ceremony was initially stopped by people coming home from church. The police returned the partially burnt body of his son on condition that it would neither be buried nor burned. Later that year, Dr. Price reneged on his promise and burned his son's remains. The townsfolk, unhappy with this sacrilege, went in an angry mob to burn out Dr. Price, but were turned back when they discovered only his wife armed with pistols
In other words, it's a learned culture and there is nothing wrong with it if Christians choose to indulge in it.

to the women advocating divorce and worrying about changing or keeping names? have u ever sat and thought why our parents union lasted till death or is even going on ill today?
Did our so called parents live together happily or were they just slaves to marriage laws and injunctions?

I'm getting so fed up with all this blablabla about Americans have no morals and westerners have no respect and the divorce rate is so high - So what if I'm white? So what if I'm a westerner? Does that make everything I have to say completely illegitimate?

I don't even see why this should be a problem. In the first place I don't see the relevance of taking your husband's surname. Are you related to him? My mom Never took my dad's surname, we did. We were his, so it's understandable. Again, just my 2cents,
I wonderooo. Why should women take their husbands last name? For what?

Go and create jobs [without job experience], Akala, provost tell graduating students

By Segun Olugbile

The Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Oyo State, has graduated 2,651 students with the State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, and the college provost, Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, challenging the graduating students to create job for themselves as government alone could not absorb them.

According to them, the graduating students have no reason to remain jobless because the college had fortified them with both theoretical and practical skills needed to excel in their chosen fields.

Ogunmola, who listed various achievements recorded under his tenure, hinted that the college had affiliated with the University of Ado-Ekiti in order to facilitate its full-time degree programmes that would commence soon.

He charged the students to keep improving themselves, saying that there was no end to learning.

He also urged them to be responsible, hardworking and trustworthy.

Alao-Akala, while speaking at the occasion, said that to ensure qualitative education, his administration had devoted 60 per cent of the total budget in the current fiscal year to education despite competing pressing needs.

This, he said, was because his government placed high premium on education, as the nation could not overcome its numerous problems without education.

According to him, the funding of formal education in a rapidly growing population of children and youth in Nigeria can be daunting.

He added that apart from salaries and allowances of academic and non-academic staff, a lot of fund was being committed to the maintenance of existing facilities, supply of equipment required for sound and qualitative education and equipment for accreditation and re-accreditation.

The governor, therefore, remarked that since government alone could not fund education, non-governmental organisations, socio-cultural groups and alumni associations of tertiary institutions should step forward to complement government’s effort.

He told the graduating students to look inward and create job for themselves, saying government could not employ all of them.

“As a result of the down-turn in the economy of the country and the global economic problems, not all of you will get jobs immediately. You are therefore requested to think of schemes in which you can gainfully engage yourselves,” he added.

Tax ID numbers debut in Lagos

TO reform its tax system and curb the activities of touts, the Lagos State government has introduced Tax Identification numbers, to allow for proper documentation and easy access to records of tax payments.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Managing Director of Alpha Beta Consulting Limited, Mr. Dapo Apara, said the current system now provides for a Payer Identification Number, written directly after the payer's name on the automated receipts.

With the ID number, he noted, payers can access all records of payment to the state government from time to time. He advised payers to always look out for the payer's ID number because of its relevance in all transactions involving the Lagos State Government.

Saudi Arabia set to execute 28-year-old Nigerian

By Tobi Soniyi and Adelani Adepegba

The authorities in Saudi Arabia are set to execute a Nigerian, Sulaimon Olufemi, 28, who was convicted and sentenced to death in connection with the murder of a policeman in Jeddah in 2002.

Olufemi, a Nigerian national, was reportedly sentenced to death at a closed trial in May 2005.

This is contained in the April 2008 edition of The Wire, a publication by the Amnesty International, a copy of which was e-mailed to our correspondent.

The human rights body said that Olufemi was one of the 13 Nigerian men arrested in September 2002 in connection with the murder.

The 12 others were however lucky as they were only sentenced to prison terms and corporal punishment.

Amnesty International said that during his trial, Olufemi had no access to legal representation or consular assistance, and was reported to have had no adequate translation of his trial which was conducted in Arabic.

According to the Saudi Arabian Human Rights Commission, the death sentence against Olufemi has been upheld by the Court of Cassation and ratified by the Supreme Judicial Council.

Amnesty International on Monday expressed the fear that Olufemi could be executed at any time.

The human rights body called on the Nigerian government to protect its citizens in Saudi Arabia and prevent the execution of Olufemi.

It acknowledged the ‘citizen diplomacy‘ policy of the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ojo Madueke, and his steps to protect Nigerian nationals on death row in Indonesia.

It called on the minister to prevail on the Saudi authorities to halt the execution of Olufemi.

There has been an alarming increase in the number of executions in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of 2008.

At least 20 people were reported to have been executed for murder, armed burglary and drug related offences in April 2008.

Those executed included three women.

Saudi Arabia applies the death penalty for a wide range of offences. Court proceedings fall far short of international standards for fair trial.

In Saudi Arabia, defendants are rarely allowed formal representation by a lawyer, and in many cases, are not informed of the progress of legal proceedings against them.

They may be convicted solely on the basis of confessions obtained under duress or deception.

Amnesty International is calling on public spirited people to express concern about the number of executions in Saudi Arabia and to appeal to the Saudi authorities to commute the death sentences against Olufemi and others on death row in Saudi Arabia as a matter of urgency, with a view to abolishing the death penalty.

The execution is carried out through public beheading.

Saudi Arabia has had one of the highest execution rates among countries of the world for many years.

At least 158 people were executed in 2007 and Amnesty International said it had recorded at least 31 in 2008.

Death sentences in Saudi Arabia are often imposed after secret and summary trials that breach international fair trial standards and Saudi Arabia’s own Law on Criminal Procedures and Code of Law Practice.

I think it's Hilary that stuck with him that is silly. No wonder most women gave her the finger during the primaries. How can you claim to be intelligent yet stick with an adulterer that will endanger your life?
