bixton: A self contain in Delta State has this features : lounge, bedroom, kitchen and your bathroom/toilet. I hope that's what it is and not bedroom, kitchen and bathroom/toilet as it is in some other States'.

olukaygold: Let it be open to the Dinning room, not directly to the sitting room,and construct it in a way that'll make it easy to be closed Incase you want convert it back to closed kitchen if the Open kitchen option fails.
in most apartments the dining is open to the sitting room, so when u open the kitchen to the dining u will have like an opening to the sitting room also. except it's a closed dining
olukaygold: That's one of our challenges here in Nigeria,I love Open kitchen cos it saves cost and add more beauty to the sitting room if well set-up and well equiped. I introduced it into one of my buildings and got reviews from the Tenant that occupied it.the reviews were so disheartened that I'd to changed my plan.thank God I already created alternate option Incase the occupant doesn't like open kitchen.
TouchstoneNgr: He is partly right.marbles are loose stones, softer than most granites. They are more aesthetically pleasing though and more expensive. If you have the funds and your kitchen is not going to be heavily used, you can go for the Italian marble. Just like what we used in this small kitchen.

This thread would be dedicated to treating extensively a DIY approach on HOW TO CALCULATE THE NUMBERS OF BLOCKS AND CEMENTS NEEDED TO BUILD YOUR HOUSE.
This DIY(Do It Yourself) approach is not aimed at stopping you from hiring a professional to have a perfect work done, but just to give you an insight on how individual professionals arrives at concluding numbers of quantity of materials required or requested for. This will also help you to know when a particular Engineer, Architect, Builder, Manson, etc are been realistic and not only trying to rip you off your hard earn money. NB: This is just an eyes opening thread. You might eventually need the help of a professional at the long run for more complex aspects that can’t be treated on this thread. The First section would be dealing with the block aspect and the numbers of contribution from people and their interest would show how soon the cement aspect would be treated. We have different types of blocks in vogue in Nigeria and in diverse sizes. We have the solid block (no hole in-between) and we equally have the hollow blocks(the common type you get from block industries in Nigeria with holes in between). They come in various sizes, 4” or 4inches, 6” or 6inches, 9” or 9inches. We would be treating extensively the 6inches and 9inches because they are in vogue and are majorly used as partitioning walls and external walls respectively. This thread won’t be breaking down the use or importance of individual types of block and sizes but only aimed at addressing quantity. What does 9”, 6”, and 4” means? The only physical difference seen in the above sizes of blocks is in their thickness. From experience, the 4”, 6”, and 9” blocks have the same height, and same length. kalu61: The visitors toilet in inside. How do you take waste from kitchen out, through dinning? I think the kitchen should have the exit door to the backyard and if possible a door to the lobby.
what I have there is a kitchen and a dining together somehow. and the dining having a door to the backyard. this gives us a bigger kitchen as there won't be need to remove a 3ft door space. so u get a bigger kitchen usable space. as for the v.toilet a chamber can channel the waste to the backyard

kalu61: Using the first picture, the structure in the parlour without door or window is likely the kitchen right? The dinning must be to the kitchen which l don't see when you will fit that.
Anyways, below is my little idea. Edit to your taste. The bedsitter is not bad.
thanks I think it's same thing u drew. the structure without door amd window like u described is the kitchen and I'm thinking an open kitchen to the side so the dining n kitchen are together to create a bigger usable space.
Rany4all: The biodigester soakaway is a much smaller entity than the regular soakaway, so the artisans claim it is cheaper and requires less space. They put certain products containing microorganisms and enzymes inside the biodigester soakaway, which are meant to breakdown faeces into gas that is then released into the atmosphere through vents.
Now the catch, which the artisans will not readily tell you upfront until after you're fully committed, is that the biodigester soakaway is only meant for your toilets. It is too small to take on waste water from baths, kitchen, washing machine or wash hand basins, and also the soap used in these places will deactivate the microorganisms and/or enzymes, so you still have to do a separate soakaway for your waste water, which may actually nullify the claim that it is "cheaper" or requires "less space".
And again, just as soap can deactivate the microorganisms, your regular toilet cleaning agents can also do the same, so you have to buy special cleaning agents meant for use with biodigester soakaways and these cleaning agents are not just readily available on your supermarket shelves.
hmm this sounds like alot tho. but isn't the ring n the bio digester together cheaper than the full soakaway.
and does the added component for breakdown expires or finishes? if yes, can it be replaced.

Here It is... it's a 2bedroom flat and a bedsitter. the aim of the owner is .. to sell each unit as affordable luxury. .. efficient management of the land. .. the design should be fine too so buyer can be interested.
I don't know if I have help them achieve their objectives with this design of mine.

I guess it would count as luxury , because a 2bdrm flat having 3 toilet is some big man balling
redgem: Good evening everyone.. I am also making plans for soakaway.....will have cars parked on it... How will it go? I mean, how many feet deep? What is the best suitable dimension? Should I make a separate slot for waste water or just don't cement a part of the soakaway so it can absorb the water from beneath? What materials and quantity of materials will I need for setting and casting? How much should I budget? I'd really love to have these informations so I can start making plans for it..
why not go for that small one that burns the waste. I can remember what it's called currently.
4ft by 5ft will do if the rooms are in suit but if not, don't border.
