Jayhome24:Remember the story of Nenadi Usman, the much trumpeted incorruptible servant.? In school we were taught that heat can be transferred by conduction, convection and radiation. Of the three, radiation does not require physical contact. Same with corruption. There does not have to be any relationship. Just an atmosphere, an aura of pliability. Once a person has tendencies, peculiarities, loves certain material things, corruption will locate the person. That is the way it happens in the third world. Nations where leadership is all about the primitive acquisition of riches. Where it is a taboo for a person to enter office with one naira and exit with one naira ten kobo. A feudal society where the people accept the chains of their commonwealth forcibly taken by those they choose to rule over them and those they entrust their livelihoods to. Of course corruption will locate them. |
This boy has barely started life. But because of the environment he is cultured in, at his age he is already embroiled in scandal and his personality in court over sleaze. An apple truly does not fall far from the tree. In those days some of the most important values were domiciled in, the 'family name' and ones parent's never ceased to preach this to the ears of their children and wards. 'Know the house from which you come from no matter where you arrive'. Today unfortunately, no one cares. Shame is no longer feared. Values have vanished. The society has lost its way. A nation in decline. |
In other societies journalists are always known to have their heads on a swivel. They look at things objectively and even when they have biases certain red lines exist which they do not cross. For this person to use the word 'detention' which is widely associated with autocratic, military rule just shows the level of decay prevalent in organized media. Nowhere did he question why the wheels of justice is frozen solid, broken down, inconclusive such that the state cannot apply the rule of law as opposed to what they are doing, applying the rule of vengeance. |
akindelelawrenc:Just talking anyhow. What else do you want them to finish. The write up is explanatory. A democratic president in place and ISIS no longer operable, we want to leave so that peace reigns. You don't want this. You want more fighting and bloodshed or what? |
Thank goodness. One giant leap for mankind. Let everyone begin to pack his bags and leave every country they do not belong to. And end the meddling. Beat you swords into plowshares a yea inhabitants of the world and let us have peace for a season. |
deedo93:'Fury'? You mean the tank war movie? Who said that, 'War Daddy' ? |
peculiar3:If you know all these you should be able to prepare for such. Is it too much to get someone in that ambulance with you when attending to the opposite sex. Is that not common sense. |
Rayjay45:You can say that again. Anyway the banking sector has always been known for creative accounting. Never have they been associated with the real economy they claim to serve. |
H Sirjamo:Like what so called development, coastal road.?? Because that is all the talk in Nigeria since 2023. Barely anything else that resembles development. And if that is all you can deliver, then it is better the people eat cheap rice and beans rather than have it shared to Chagoury and co. |
It is a terrible shame that the son of a public officer can be embroiled in such scandal. |
I don't know whether the images of the men paraded is real in this age of AI but to show them in a line up wearing those shirts is the biggest PR gaffe I have seen lately. These are human billboards for crying out loud and by giving them global publicity and a meme for all time the government has just shot a 50 caliber round, completely pulverizing it's feet. Dear government, next time give them other clothes to wear to save yourselves this embarrassment. |
Rayjay45:This is not a Tinubu or political matter. It is a citizen of Nigeria matter. You want to move forward and do what is right, those in office will have no option than to comply. |
Does anyone doubt that this country is in a decline.... When are we going to sit down together and decide if we are going to move forward, then how we are going to do that. Because 66 years after independence and 27 years of 5th Republic democracy, we just seem unable to move forward in any way, shape or form as regarding almost every facet of life. I cannot imagine that the citizens of this country are comfortable with this present situation. It is not natural, not logical and not human not to seek a way out. |
Well the people voted for that and don't seem to have a problem with that so why compare to your state. Dem tell you say camel need house with AC... ![]() |
Sheuns:That is revenge, that is not justice. They are not the same thing. |
They should convict him or let him go. It does not speak well of a democratic government. How long does the wheel of justice take to move to a conclusion. The previous, Buhari led government did the same thing, keeping people locked up without an end of the justice process. You cannot criticise military rule and then practice elements of it in mufti. |
Will have made some interesting comments here but I can see racists have been instantly infested the page so I pass. Just a pity that those folks of time past just doing great things for themselves, their communities and the nation will have their legacies so tarnished by folks of this age. It is indeed a spectacular fall from grace, this nation called Nigeria. |
casualobserver:They don't understand what service is all about. You cannot be engaged or employed for a task and dwell on comparisons. Yes, floods happen everywhere in the world. It has been raining in Tokyo for one month straight but will the Japanese head of the local prefecture say to his people, 'oh well, it floods every year in Lagos, Nigeria so...'They will simply tell him,'so what'. Yes, Lagos is largely below sea level and climate alone will make it increasingly difficult to live in many parts in the coming decades but that is the pressure that makes for critical thinking now, not evasion. Because when you evade, you cannot bring the intellectual forces to help you out. Be honest with the people, interact with them and share ideas. If it is tough, it is tough. But society can only survive tough situations when they do it together. |
These public servants really don't know what to say with their frequent evasion, defeatism and buck passing. Just list out the studies you are undertaking, the things you do, enumerate the steps you are taking with a promise of a better outlook going forward and leave it like that. You will never hear their counterparts in other climes doing cross border comparisons as a basis to justify to things not working. It is irritating, provocative and erodes your own competencies and the trust of the public if they are not aware of this gaffe. If nothing can be done about it, what is the essence of your job then. You might as well go home. |
What!!. What is all this nonsense. Just hope it is not true. |
Wow....this is not good...at all. At least he appears cognitive. So did he approve of this. |
Angelfrost:More like completely collapsed. Yesterday I called it crashed and burnt....club and country... everything is a heap of rubble. Folks should be at the National Assembly protesting this tragedy. Football used to be the only national asset for pride, joy and hope. Nothing else came close. Now even that has been taken away. We need serious soul searching in this country. |
wiseone28:So we should join an association of failures. Good. |
Never seen a set of players so poor technically. Cannot shoot, cannot cross, cannot even clear loose balls....what is happening....is this deliberate sabotage or what....who offended them... |
mycar:They all look psychologically gone....that is, nothing in their soul to make anything of this match. |
We need a national rebirth in all aspects of life in this country. No one can pretend that things are well in Nigeria. A deep soul searching to find where we missed it as a nation and retrace our steps. This sorry state of affairs is affecting everything.... everything. |
dequir:Bottom of their group and being shellacked at home by Gambia at the 70th minute. |
At least we can take heart in our jollof brothers from another mother. Joined hip to hip in footy misery.. |
Well, there goes the Nations Cup. It has never been this bad. Our football is tanking and will soon crash and burn up. What a country. Decline everywhere you look. Misruled in everything under the sun. |
Arostar2023:Don't mind them. In their minds government is there to award contracts and collect kickbacks, buy expensive cars and enjoy themselves. The best an individual citizen can do under the law concerns his private space. It is an offence for him to cross his boundary and interfere in his neighbor's. But where a citizen cannot go, a government can, what a citizen cannot ensure and implement, a government can, what a citizen cannot afford, a government can, why? Because society comes together to appoint a government to care for the collective. We give them power to do, all our money to do, and our obedience and fealty. That is why they should be blamed if they cannot ORGANISE us the society around decent values and reasonable standards of living. If my neighbor decides to transform himself into a pig and his house into a pig sty, the Constitution does not permit me to do anything as a citizen. I have to use the government to intervene. That is as simple as ABC, grade 4 stuff. |
That is what I have been saying. Coastal states including Lagos and its Islands and Peninsula don't have a viable, habitable, long term future. Due to climate change the oceans are creeping up, the marshlands are being overwhelmed and the rivers feeding them are slowing their discharge meaning more water is being retained in land than otherwise will. So it is not a matter of drainage infrastructure in these places. Gravity drains and canals just wouldn't work anymore at some point in the future. . The only options for cities like Port Harcourt and Lagos will be the highly expensive fix of building massive Louisiana type levies, surge barriers and buy stormwater pumps the size of small refineries to clean up. But are we ready, are we preparing, are we thinking about these things. |
I Kalashnikov49: ....this Macron babysit is something else....hahahaha.... |
