This is the moment of truth. Lies may rein a thousand years but a moment of truth will always overtake. I salute the courage of yoruba leaders who have decided to own up to the truth although belatedly. Such eulogies in my opinion are not mere political gimmicks but a genuine attempt to address historical distortions. Believe me, if Awolowo had showed some remorse instead of shifting the entire onus of war blame to Ojukwu and his tribe, the valley of distrust between these two tribes would have healed fast. The speeches of these renowned yoruba leaders have more weight than insignificant gibberish on this forum. Except these gentlemen here are mischievously casting aspersions on their leaders, I am inclined to hold that they also speak for their numerous followers. I cannot be persuaded to believe that these outbursts on the person of late Ikemba are mere attempts to politically woe Ndigbo come 2015. RIP GREAT IKEMBA. A TSUNAMI CANNOT PASS UNNOTICED. |
I once posted my teenage eye witness account of atrocious market bombing by mindless cronies of the Nigerian air-force during the Biafran war on this forum. It was my innocent contribution in the early days of my Niarand membership responding to a thread. Little did I know then that it was a forum where people, especially bigots choose to jibe others to score cheap and sarcastic points. One aribisalaO debunked my account as sentimental and one sided. He went ahead to state that all measures in a war situation were legitimate. His reasoning since then has not deviated from this logic. Like the Iranian president who faulted that Nazi holocaust never existed, aribisalaO has gone to all lengths to deny that pogrom in the north ever occurred. Whatever postulation of igbo content are a priori false or contestable. He is suffering from the decease of the mind and from igbofobia. My advice is for Ndigbo on this forum to ignore him whenever he comes rushing on igbo related threads starting from my humble self. I can understand why some people are tempted to rein abuses at him. He is quite odious. |
Trinity213:If u are able to understand the theology of trinity then u can equally read and understand that there is a mandate to relocate imsu or the univ loses accreditation. Three universities cannot be built simultaneously overnight. Does it matter where the first one is located? Every part of imo must develop, period. |
THOSE SHOUTING ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR A SNC ARE THE YORUBAS, REMEMBER. WHY ARE THEY NOT CONTENT WITH THE PRESENT STATUS QUO OF THE NATION? OP DREW PEOPLE'S ATTENTION TO THE ABURI ACCORD: WAS THERE AN ACCORD? QUESTION FOR YOU AND I. THE EAST DESPITE ALL INJUSTICE IS NOT THE WORSE OFF IN NIGERIA OF TODAY. THE NORTH IS ENGULFED IN SELF DESTRUCTION, MATTER OF NEMESIS, DECLARING WAR AGAINST EVERYONE. BIAFRA OR NO BIAFRA, JUST A MATTER OF TIME NOT WAR. |

It is good to read such interesting and well articulated write up from a northern lady. It is also good that the article is posted here. I have been waiting to read comments from Niaraland northern Apologists, at least to hear their own commentary in support or against her postulations. But these guys will certainly shy away from treating core issues bedevilling our dear country no matter how sensitive. Unfortunately Zainab is like a tiny voice in the wilderness. Translating the document into hausa may have little impact on the Northern illiterate population and die hard Jihadists who have little regard for women. The north can boast of a good population of graduates though less than their western and southern counterparts. It behoves these youths with the same mindset as Zainab, to reconvert people into a more positive and pragmatic thinking. |
Mutual accusations of tribal and ethnic bigotry are quite common among Nairalanders. My question is, what is the borderline between bigotry and Apologist? Is highlighting of merits, achievements, and values of one's tribe an act of tribalism? In my my opinion, it is when such traits are placed over other people's tribes that tribalism sets in.Taking the defence of undue attacks on one's tribe amounts to being an apologist but returning such attacks will be tribalism. Your contribution may help me to reconsider my utterances since I would rather be an Apologist. |
While some idle brains are crying more than the bereaved on Ojukwu's funeral rites, please be informed that Ndigbo in Italy are honouring the great Ikemba in the Italian city of Padua (Padova) on the 3rd of March 2012. No amount of money is enough by Ndigbo to repay Ikemba for his boldness and courage to defend his kinsmen from blood thirsty Northerners and their cohorts in 1967. I have read some silly postings on this thread where some conceited opinions tend to thwart history. Myths of a people and ingredients of heroism is garbed in relativism, thus I found it intellectually tasking that some people from a different ethnic background are at pains to convince Ndigbo on who should be their hero(s). If we have found heroism in the person of Ojukwu, why the whole fuss? Since you guys did not and will never live the Igbo experience, no amount of theory will ever negate the obvious: that Ojukwu is our hero. The argument that he should not have gone to war knowing very well that he would loose is more of a yoruba trait than Igbo. If today the hausa/yoruba conduct another genocide against Ndigbo, we shall do the same things again, defend ourselves even at the risk of loosing. I know this may be difficult for some of our sw brothers to fully grasp. Ojukwu knew when to quit the war stage after a meeting with the elders in Igboland - that also is an act of heroism |
wetin those baby almajiris de do for line? Abi dem tink say na bomb dem de share? |
Enemies of progress, why not comment on the guy who was diverting public fund to a private account? The man who attempts to stop him is declared an enemy and a show man. I don't seem to understand some people. This is why many well intentioned people will never hold public office. Okorocha may not be Jesus Christ the redeemer but he is certainly working, whether show man or not. |
It is strange that the likes of alj harem have not chipped in their own bashing impute to nullify free education in Imo State. I hope he has not been arrested somewhere. @ topic The biggest investment is on human resource, that means teaching a guy to fish, then he can pretty take care of himself which ever way. the quote below will satisfy any reasonable fellow on priority objective of Rochas. Na turn by turn, we don de go; other things will follow. The next breed of politicians in Imo State will have more enlightened minds to deal with. There is freedom of expression, so let people talk. ndu_chucks:The greatness of Odimegwu Ojukwu to Ndigbo is enormous and beats the wildest imagination of the feeble minded. His departure is being celebrated all over, home and in diaspora. How does one equate greatness?: He took up the Federal side without weapon or fear and resisted for years. Obj later accused him that, the ability to resist for so long meant that Ojukwu had planned a war long before joining the army - it beat his poor imagination. Pronouncement of his heavily accented igbo names - CHUKWUEMEKA ODIMEGWU OJUKWU sent chills down the spine of enemy soldiers during the war. When a war zone went tough, he joined the battle and morals were high When the war became hopeless, as shameless the federal side sought outside support to fight BIAFRA, Ojukwu left Effiong to negotiate a surrender with Igbo pride still intact. Britain forced Gowan to accept a no victor no vanquish verdict having previously forced him to re-negate the Aburi accord. He could have opted for a hit and run suicide style of warfare against the federal side but he was too big, too decent for that kind of barbaric method. Thus he saved many Igbo lives and retained their Igbo pride. Because he believed that he who fights and run away, will live to fight another day, he came back a hero to the chagrin of his cowardly detractors. Ndigbo have overtaken their sworn enemies especially in commerce and they are dying with envy. The hight of this anger and enviousness is anchored on the man who led the resistance. He is DIM CHUKWUEMEKA ODIMEGWU OJUKWU - EZE IGBO GBURUBGURU This is why some of them would have him thrown into the ocean as a revenge for their obsessive hatred for Ndigbo. However the world will witness how an African hero is buried na ALA IGBO IGBO KWENU!!! |
I guess alj boko harem & co are frantically seeking top god fathers to plan an escape for that fool. This is why they are not talking yet. Aren't they always here in the front line talking trash? When they success through infiltrated agents in government, they will be first to call for Jona's head. |
I don't get it. The battle line is between the Hausa-Fulani/Yoruba against Ndigbo. The ss hang fearfully on the fence unsure of itself. Wetin be the real problem? Jealousy? This was the picture during Biafra. The Middle belt, I guess may not be willing to continue a gruesome marriage with the core north to massacre Ndigbo. Sensing this posture, BH will soon turn loose on them. Does mere boastfulness of self acclaimed success justify wanton killing of persons? I suppose Igbo pride made the colonial powers to subjugate the Igbo nation; it cost us Biafra because the white folks could not tolerate our self confidence and pride. Every Igbo related post in nl points to Igbo boastfulness and arrogance. Some posts are mere manifestation of stupidity and ignorance. It is either we are a country or we are not! Everyone is free to live (legally) in every part of the globe. Why can't Nigerian live and work freely in any part of the country? What does the constitution say? Some communities are burying their dead, not out of natural disaster, but hacked down by fellow Nigerians who adduce unclear motives. This is food for thought for every enlightened mind irrespective of tribe. @ poster I guess you are enjoying the many pages your post has generated. Don't beat your chest yet in self congratulation. Nigeria's woes are hydra headed. Looking through a crystal ball into the future of the country is worrisome indeed. I fear our dear country. History has an ugly way of repeating itself if issues of previous events are not addressed. When we tell lies to masquerade reality, we make ourselves principal actors in a tragic drama sketch. |
On aburi we stand! Some people mouth de lick like basket wey carry wata. When Biafra advocated a loose centre and stronger viable regions, dem no gree. They killed millions to maintain the status quo, starving shildren to death and called it legitimate. Today, today, dem de beg for more allocation. The status quo no good for dem. I no go curse pesin becos my Mama train me well. FG please carry go. |
Concept:I would like to educate you a little craving your indulgence though. The Federal Government is composed of persons from various parts of Nigeria including the north. The Federal Executive body meet, deliberate and then come out with a policy, considering available data. Decisions may be well founded or ill informed but the President takes responsibility because he is the head of the Executive body. He however has a responsibility to weigh his decisions before action since he wears the crown. If his government is weak, then he is weak; if he is ill informed, he fails along with his administration. We must however consider the very nature of politics in Nigeria both present and past, before we pass judgement on Jonathan. We are all living witnesses when the north tried to block Jonathan from succeeding Yar Adua. They attempted to impose his wife on us with impunity. The country was united in repudiating this attempt to the chagrin of some northern hard-liners. We witnessed protests in parts of the north when Jonathan was returned as a President with the pretext of election rigging. You and I know that many people in the north are not happy with the Jonathan presidency and even promised him rough time Bottom line is that: 1. Any executive presidential high-handedness without due support from the north designed to deal with BH will end in a disaster. 2. No amount of effort, in the Nigerian setting and context, will ever succeed without collaboration from the north 3. Recent revelations as publicly affirmed by Jonathan is that BH is everywhere even in Government - what does this tell you? 4. It is written somewhere in today's news that the north is sounding a warning against foreign assistance against BH - what does this tell you? 5. It is either that those who accuse Jonathan of being clueless are suffering from intellectual dementia, lack of political knowledge on the actual state of things in the country, or from mere hatred of his person. Nigeria is on a fast track towards disintegration. Gej is only but a sitting lame Duck on sloppy stream surrounded by foes. I don't want to be in his shoes. Guess what? Most of you armchair critics would not like to be in his shoes either! Good-luck to Niger area that became Nigeria. |
You have not done a good job of selling the ideals of BH. You suggested that government negotiates with them, on what platform if I may ask? You said they wanted to be left alone to practice their religion; on the contrary they say they want to make Nigeria all Islamic. What is there to negotiate? They say western education is evil, fine, but you cannot force people in this 21th century not to go to School. Why did they agree to benefit from western education in the first instance? A confessed extremist does not give in to negotiation! Sometime in the past, a northern Governor carelessly suggested that FG settles BH in the style of Niger Delta militants, perhaps that's exactly what they want. It is unfortunate that northern politicians can no longer control the monster they selfishly created. Finally, if you were such an illiterate, you will not be conscious of your poor grammar, so you are fake, very fake. |
babagy82:Recently I read that some 100 million naira were paid in compensation to the family of slain BH leader. If these dudes were such educated class who profess a certain version of Islam, why would they descend on Xtians on a Xmas day to take their revenge on police brutality? If their intention is freedom to practice their faith, it is funny to suggest that they faced persecution just for this motive. The above poster who appears to know more than the rest of us should please inform this house on the articles of faith of BH. If it is to enforce sharia, what is there to negotiate? If they are not happy with their northern leaders who actually had not done much to eradicate illiteracy and poverty in the north, they should have said this from genesis. Amnesty by the way, is hinged on admission of guilt or to be on the wrong side. The poster should also tell us if other criminals have hijacked the original motive of BH; I understand that the phrase means NO TO WESTERN EDUCATION. I don't understand why someone who has a Masters or B.Sc. will turn around to fight education instead of legitimately establishing his ideal School! Except there other hidden motives, they have told the world that Nigeria must be Islamic which of course is impossible. If what the poster suggested is true, that northern governors are afraid because of their lives, then they should give way for the FG to use iron fist. The governor of Lagos State and many others are protesting the presence of the army, these same people would have turned around to blame the Presidency if prompt action was not taken to arrest a degenerating situation in the area. Both the Federal government and northern governors/leader must cooperate to tackle this insurgency before Nigeria disintegrates. |
The igboman is unstoppable, spreading like cancer all over the place. It takes a loving heart to spear a man who before your very eyes, at your own backyard, flourishes like flower on a fertile land. Jealousy is the right term against the igbo, which on-line, being faceless, is expressed as hatred. The igboman's resentment for the yoruba is linked to their dubious role during the civil war. Jim Reeves sang that: some wounds never heal while some heal with with ugly memories. Before our very eyes, the Hausa is still doing the real damage of causing havoc in the polity. Yet yoruba and igbo are in a war of blames for the actual damage caused by another tribe, hence the continuation of mutual distrust. Sometimes I wonder if the sympathy for the north by the yoruba is due to shared faith in Islam by a percentage of the population! |
namfav:You are an empty headed NORTHERN APOLOGIST. Armed dealers don't go shooting people on a Xmas Day! It doesn't connect. A notorious terrorist cannot be escorted by three police men, it is not done anywhere. Somebody in the police must be held responsible for such lapses and who if I may ask? |
namfav:When your people murder hundreds of innocent worshippers on a Xmas Day, no conflict, when they allow a most notorious terrorist to run away, no conflict; but when police arrest suspects for interrogation, there will be conflict. People like you ought to be tracked and put in a cage where you rightly belong, you constitute a public threat. |
[ IYA NGBALI:Iya aje abi na Iya Yoruba, let the people bury their dead de way they deem fit. Nobi your biz. See pot calling kettle black regarding owanbe! |
doofanc:What are BH's intentions and targets? The answer is staring any unbiased intelligent Nigerian in the face. Are they everywhere including government institutions as Gej had affirmed? The answer is there for all of us. Why can't Gej act fast and with decisiveness? Your guess is as good as mine. What baffles me however is how people tend to dance to the drum beats of those who desire a shift of power through non democratic means! The blood of the innocent will continue to cry out to high heavens till judgement day. Those whose relations are killed unjustly are also angry; hatred is not an exclusive of any section of the Nigerian population God save Nigeria. |
eGuerrilla:I will be waiting for posts from yoruba bigots on institutionalised corruption. Yeye people. |
maasoap:EVERY DAY NA FOR THE thief BUT ONE DAY THE OWNER GO LAUGH, WE LIVE IN ONE UNITED NIGERIA, |
Some posts in NL are intellectually disgusting and totally devoid of common sense! Now that many of you have found HATE, what are you gonna do with it? I would like some of these political analysts to tell this forum which of the existing political parties in Nigeria will lead the country to the promised land. Before Gej ascended to power, after Yar' Dua attempted to rule from the other side of the Rubicon, Nigeria has remained gravely underdeveloped. This sudden mad hatred for a regime barely two years in office, coming mostly from the North and South west, can never be an ingredient of national unity. Nigeria is actually doomed to fail, not my wish, but stating the inevitable. |
paragonpro:Bro, you sound quite sincere but the fact remains that there are killings in the north. The internet u are referring to is the source of this news which you have every right to doubt, because it is unfounded. Do you think that the northern press will willingly public such news? Many people, especially from the north and west still dispute that the pogrom of 1966 was only an Ojukwu propaganda to break off from the Federation. I called my relation who resides in one of the hot spots in the north yesterday. He informed me that he got his car fuelled ready to run with his family to the barracks in the event of another pogrom. He confirms that many people had already fled (I can't say with what means) He warned of the danger to into an ambush of unsuspecting murderers, that's why he is still careful about movement to the east - that's talking about escorts. The reality on the ground calls for popular protests, yet some people are alarmed that the east did not join subsidy protests, a less evil in the present circumstance. |
In a normal country, citizens are free to reside in any part of it; but Nigeria is not a normal country. Greed and jealousy can drive some people nuts, I guess that's the case of the yoruba/hausa-fulani against ndigbo. How can a people strive so positively despite all political clogs? It beats their imagination. Ohaneze ndigbo has told igbo to be vigilant where ever they are and be defensive. Until a contrary proof, Nigeria remains one country. Since the cowards do a hit and run thing, or suicide bombing, northern army cannot openly declare for it without declaring formal war. What these miscreants want is, for ndigbo to run and leave their property behind, so they can reap where they did not sow. @op Some igbo are still their brother's keepers. Women and children can leave, since they are the main targets. God bless GUO motors. One more thing, ignore those trying to derail our expression of collective consciousness on this forum. |
Y this dem aboki de always run go Niger and Chad? I think one alj boko haram of NL needs to be investigated also. The vigour with which he argues to lure ndigbo into protesting horrendous killings in the north is suspect. He regards such killings as criminal activities and then calls for indictment of Gej - all calculated. Pictures of butchered igbo showed on one thread yesterday is food for thought for anyone clamouring ONE NIGERIA! If a so called Nigerian cannot live freely in any part of the country without being maimed, those making patriotic calls for other forms of protests ought to have their heads examined. We are waiting for a similar concern and united protest match to condemn barbaric atrociousness in the north that may involve highly placed politicians. Any right thinking Nigerian knows that the armed forces are dominated by people of northern extraction. Gej already said that these guys are everywhere, including his government. Rash decision on this matter would mean another accusation that he divided the country unwisely. Na only God go save 9ja. |
