PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Attacks Forced Us To Send Back Non-natives – Orji by Reggie2(m): 6:09pm On Sep 11, 2011
Orji is not a symbol of the igbo man and does not in any way represent the igbo nation or its politics. Having said this, Orji's non-native deportation move is senseless and stupid. I do not see the connection between 18k minimum wage and his ideology. Yet igbo continues to be at the receiving end of northern radicalism, till whenhuh You cannot beat a child and at the same time prevent him from crying! For those who think that fleeing igbos will not affect local economy, they must think again. Exodus of the Abiola era is one example; and the north will have to import people from Afghanistan to occupy positions if the East go. All we are saying is let peace reign.

denitro:
You are calling RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES  - ACHIEVEMENTS
This is so funny
Those are his Duties and Responsibilities as a Governor and not his Achievements
When you make promises and carry same out, you call it achievement. The guy who preceded him could not achieve these in four years. If he is able to get these things done, they are his achievements. I stand to be corrected!
PoliticsRe: 100 Days Achievements Of Governor Rochas Of Imo State by Reggie2(m): 8:17am On Sep 11, 2011
i actually have confirmed info that concord hotel is being rehabilitated by an italian firm b4 seeing this list. we also know what happened in the education sector, some nairalanders were sceptical then. that he was able to figure out areas of development is already an achievement for him and imo people. if he is able to achieve 60% of these, most imonites abroad will be trooping back home. good luck to rochas and good luck to imo state.

PoliticsRe: Okonjo-iweala: Fg To Prioritise 20,000 Abandoned Projects by Reggie2(m): 2:33pm On Aug 27, 2011
How do critics judge an administration? People want Jonathan to correct the ills of Nigeria within a year. Jonathan should be given a fair chance to address the ills of the country. Nigeria needs capable and corruption free personalities like Iweala to chat a road map for economic growth of the country. The only problem is that those who continue to feed fat on the politico economic confusion in the country will do everything to sabotage Jonathan's efforts.
CultureRe: Why So Much Ibo N Yoruba Rivalry In 9ja? by Reggie2(m): 12:10pm On Aug 23, 2011
In my humble opinion, the disaffection is traceable to Biafra. Awolowo's betrayal of Ndigbo is at the root. More-so, the Yoruba orchestrated  an after war slogan that ndigbo and Ojukwu actually caused the war out of greed for resource control. This is not historically correct! When you loose several hundreds and thousands of your beloved ones, and someone laughs you in the face, it is difficult for disaffection not to set in

CrimeDo You Agree That The Upsurge Of Crime In Nigeria Is 4 Real And Will Continue? by Reggie2(op): 3:03pm On Aug 18, 2011
Dear all,
I think that the present-day system of governance in Nigeria provide adequate manure for an upsurge in all sorts of future crime. Why do I say this? Beyond ethnic and tribal ramblings as also evidenced in NAIRALAND, major issues that affect the Nigerian statehood are often ignored.
HOW MANY ARE WE i.e. POPULATION; ISSUES OF DEMOGRAPHY; ID CARDS; GAP BETWEEN THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS; COMPLETE LACK OF WELFARE APPROACH TO CO-EXISTENCE:SOME CAN AFFORD TO BUILD A NATIONAL THEATRE FOR A HOUSE WITHOUT PAYING TAXES TO FED. STATE OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR LINE UP FLEET OF CARS BECAUSE ANNUAL TAXES ARE NOT CHARGED. IMBALANCE IN RETRIBUTION AT ALL LEVELS; ABSENCE OF ANNUAL DECLARATION OF INCOME THAT WILL PERMIT NON CORRUPT AUTHORITIES TO EVALUATE HOW PEOPLE MAKE THEIR MONIES and then pay taxes!!!!

My argument is that Nigeria can churn out rich people faster than any other country in the world due to aberration in the system whether in politics or in commerce with consequences that those unable to catch up, trail behind in abject POVERTY. Students of Sociology will agree with me that crime is largely a product of environment.

I will beg to limit my postulation here to expect your comments. Y upsurge? Because population continues to increase without documented Data; No investments in infrastructure, no welfare package for the unemployed and down trodden, politics becomes a booming business for those in government. Because the social valley between smart guys and those left behind is getting bigger and bigger,

I would love to share your comments. Thanx.

PoliticsRe: CBN Gov Sanusi Responds To Accusations He Is Bigot by Reggie2(m): 6:20pm On Aug 16, 2011
Once upon a time, there was a debate about smuggling Nigeria into Organisation of Islamic Countries -OIC. Those who opposed the move stated that Nigeria being a secular state, could not do that for constitutional reasons. Individuals who are Muslims can pretty well establish any Bank of their choice, i.e, if they meet up with the requirements. The reasons being adduced by Sanusi to establish an Islamic Bank do not hold water. If he is smart enough to quote from the Bible and cite a number of practising Christians? to justify his cause, he should be smarter to make it non denominational since other religions are supportive of the idea. Squarely put: there is a hidden agenda, period.
EducationRe: 80% Of First Class And 2.1 Failed Nnpc Test by Reggie2(m): 4:58pm On Aug 16, 2011
A couple of months ago it made headlines here in Italy that graduates who took aptitude tests seeking police jobs could not correctly spell a few commonly used words. Same have been reported of other European countries; so it seem a general phenomenon trailing the new generation. I must stress however that there's a general madness for paper qualification in Nigeria independently of what the paper is able to offer in the labour market!! I hear people talk about their kids graduating at 19 20 or 21 yrs. Most cannot even self employ themselves even there's availability of fund. Corruption is another factor, it will be a miracle if the Nigerian School system is free of corruption in a mega Nigeria.

This forum is not the right place to post such topics.
I agree that posting this topic here will not do any good because, some nit wits who know little or nothing about the Biafran war and, who care less about Ohaneze's mass burial, will spit on it. Ndigbo who understand the significance of this initiative will not like illiterates though entitled to their own opinion, to whip up unnecessary anger. Having said this, I commend those who remembered to bury and honour the dead. Whether the rest of the country likes to hear it or not, gallant Biafran soldiers who fought to defend the igbo population did not die in vain!!!  The Israelites did it after the holocaust, the Americans and all other nations honour unknown soldiers. Ndigbo have a right to bury and honour their heroes.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Begins Delivery Of Free Kerosene In Imo State by Reggie2(m): 1:08pm On Aug 08, 2011
From the very moment Rochas started his style of governance in Imo state, some nit wits have made it a point of duty to criticise every one of his policy. Some of these idiots do not have the logistics to arrive at a constructive criticism of his moves and policies. A guy who is riding his Jeep in Owerri  has no need to line up for kerosene distribution. Yet past governors siphoned money and no one did anything about it. Instead, those who benefited from such booties are quick to sing praises of such governors. Rochas is looking at his revenue possibilities and what he is able to do with it. Such policies may not meet our requirements yet he deserves a chance. My position does not negate constructive opposition to misguided policies.
PoliticsRe: When Did Corruption Start In Nigeria? by Reggie2(m): 11:04am On Aug 06, 2011
Chinua Achebe's novel: A MAN OF THE PEOPLE deals with corrupt politics in Nigeria. During my primary school days immediately after the Nig/Biafran war, BRIBERY, CORRUPTION AND NEPOTISM made constant appearance in Moral Instruction and current affairs lessons. We can surmise that corruption i.e, the Nigerian version started from Independence.
PoliticsRe: Athan Achonu Builds ?new Dubai? In Imo State: Says, ?we Have Funding For It by Reggie2(m): 12:58pm On Aug 05, 2011
Kay1kay1:
Do these politicians have proper advisers or YES MEN and YES WOMEN? If there is money, fix the old roads at least. Set up 25-hour independent power plants. Then boast about the achievements.
Way back in the Secondary School days we call this OP (off point). So advisers will tell a private investor to put his money on fixing of bad roads and fixing of power problems abi? Thank God Achonu does not have people like you as an adviser!!! He will be ruined for life!!! This project is not a national cake from the Federal government. The wind blows where it wills. If another potential hotelier decides to put his money in this sector - I am planning to do so - no federal decree would forbid me I suppose.
PoliticsRe: Athan Achonu Builds ?new Dubai? In Imo State: Says, ?we Have Funding For It by Reggie2(m): 12:19am On Aug 05, 2011
Most guys on this forum have not asked why a plot of land in owerri costs so much despite there is no meaningful industrial sector. And why would hotel business be striving in a state without federal presence? Imo people single handedly built their airport and the federal side did everything to frustrate its operation but failed. A multi purpose five star hotel will be a catalyst to further development in the state. The business guru knows his onions so broda ride on; this is neither a federal project nor a community effort. Pls. let the guy be.
PoliticsRe: Athan Achonu Builds ?new Dubai? In Imo State: Says, ?we Have Funding For It by Reggie2(m): 8:50pm On Aug 04, 2011
This is a private investment geared towards boosting employment in Imo state yet some guys are talking about infrastructure! There are hundreds of thousands of imonites all around the globe ready to patronise the hotel if you care to know. These guys will bring in forex into da city. For economists, the rest is history. ALA OWERRI YA RIRI UNU MMA OO!!!!
Nairaland GeneralRe: Nairaland 2011 Ethnic Census. by Reggie2(m): 3:19pm On Aug 03, 2011
While tongue bashing bigotry rages in NL, I am highly impressed at the increased rate of computer literacy in Nigeria generally and among Ndiigbo and Awon Yoruba in particular. Social network has worked to arrest the rate of societal decadence in northern Africa. I wish Nigerians can utilize this multimedia asset to make meaningful contributions towards a better Nigeria. If Obama could use it to effect a change in the USA, then YES WE CAN. Good luck to everyone in the house
EducationRe: 2011 Jamb/utme Data By State/zone by Reggie2(m): 12:33am On Aug 02, 2011
Some guys in 9ja hate to hear about statistics but Y. Truth is that in the 70/80s candidates from SE had to change their names to Mallan Sanusi in order 2 be admitted in northern Universities due to obnoxious quota system. No do, No do, the then FG invented EDUCATIONALLY BACKWARD ALLOWANCE sponsored from oil money. The same almajiries are fighting the rest of the country today against western education after collecting fees as educationally disadvantaged states! Do you follow me? These guys did not refuse the money then nor did they fight the government 4 telling them to go to school. My humble opinion is that, the statistics from the northern Jambites ought to be verified because half may still be southerners living there. Talking about bringing tribe into this kind of discussion, it appears indispensable for reasons of political imbalance in the system. It's as unrealistic as the Americans talking about intelligent quotients btw whites and blacks after decades of socio-economic segregation. Yes, there is a big need for statistical accuracy in Nigeria in order to ensure a just society.

PoliticsRe: Okorocha's 50 Special Assistants To Generate Their Pay Themselves by Reggie2(m): 9:09pm On Jul 27, 2011
People are usually sceptical over things they cannot do because they do not believe that others can do it. When Rochas declared free education in Imo State, people called him a mad man because they could not imagine from where the fund would be generated. The whole job of governance is all about generating fund from within the system and then channelling same towards even development. People are so used to sharing the so-called revenue allocation from oil money that any contrary option becomes unfathomable. Local governments in Italy run their various county from mere traffic fines and lotto and other local taxes. These county councils have their own roads and welfare packages for the less privileged residents. GO ON ROCHAS! LOOK OUT ON HOW TO GENERATE REVENUE AND THEM TEACH THEM HOW TO INVEST SUCH RESOURCE ON DEVELOPMENT
PoliticsRe: Polls Violence: Northerners In Onitsha Flee To Asaba, Army Barracks by Reggie2(m): 7:02pm On Apr 20, 2011
Post election massacre in Nigeria was for-shadowed by a foiled attempt by the north to push Jonathan out of office when Yar' adua died. The argument was that it is still the turn of a northern president to govern the country. Those who continue albeit pathologically to castigate the PDP have derailed completely. Has PDP done more damage in the north? Do we have running water and electricity in the south? What is the opinion of an average almajiri regarding Nigerian politics? How can one justify the wanton destruction of human life and property in the guise of fighting for your right? What efforts have these guys made to reach out to their southern counterparts since they are so keen on politics? When Ojukwu spoke of a national conference, it was another Ibo plot to divide the country. If things continue this way, the country will self divide. My advice to northern politicians is that the era of using the united Islamic north to ascend presidency of Nigeria is over. Candidates should sell themselves on merit. Period.
PoliticsRe: Serious Riots In Wuse, Abuja & Mararaba by Reggie2(m): 8:29pm On Apr 19, 2011
After the Biafran civil war, Ibo people remained victims of the Nigerian political quagmire. Since the end of hostilities in 1970, Nigeria has been ruled by uniformed nitwits from the powerful north merely accommodating gullible individuals from the south that have no vision of leadership. Subsequent military turned millionaires became civilian leaders and reduced Nigeria to what we have today! PDP is a bye product of a corrupt leadership until GEJ. Discoveries of the 2011 elections is a united south and a subdued north. This means that future free and fair elections can produce a genuine class of leaders capable taking Nigeria to the next level. Just as the spokesman of PDP said to Aljazeera, office seekers must stop banking on religion to win elections.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Asks Buhari To Call His Supporters To Order by Reggie2(m): 10:26pm On Apr 18, 2011
I don't understand how and why any reasonable fellow would want a guy who's not been officially sworn in as a winner, to call in the army at this stage, in order to show that he is strong! Guys should remember that no matter where opposition or violence is coming from, GEJ is the head of state of the entire country and not just of the south! More-so over 25% from almost all northern states voted for him. Conflict resolution is not always a matter of force.  The country needs stability to progress and only God knows what these guys from the north really want?
Christianity EtcRe: Bishop Oyedepo Acquires Yet Another N4.5b Private Jet by Reggie2(m): 8:17am On Apr 13, 2011
Self styled evangelical business is a mirror of societal decay in today's Nigeria. When this whole religious madness started in the early seventies, I sounded a note of warning to my newly converted brother who decided to hate me for not coming on board. My note of warning was that someone may be sincere but sincerely wrong; and that no amount of sincerity can ever prove that person right! When Niger Delta militants decided to adopt kidnapping as tactics for getting awareness, little did they know that they were showing armed robbers a new method. Same with Martin Luther King and pioneer evangelists in Nigeria who have turned Christianity into Church business! May God deliver us from all evil,

Just finished a fiction (novel) that's been a torn around my neck. It's about a fight between tradition & modernity; about animism & Christianity - set in igboland. I stumbled onto this trend and got curious. Though one is not drawn into writing for the naira sake, yet an author wants his stuff to be read! Should I go ahead to publish?
TV/MoviesRe: Are Nigerians Pround Of Nollywood Actors & Actresses? by Reggie2(m): 5:00pm On Mar 29, 2011
I consider it shameful that some ethnic groups should sit down, eat amala and suya, while others write their history. AribisalaO's argument is baseless. Alaba guys have started a success story some 20 years ago, let's see the intellectuals refine the process. These later, do not need to come from the east, what's holding them?
