CelebritiesRe: Femi Kuti's Interview About Tuface's Planned Protest (video) by Reggie2(m): 6:12pm On Feb 03, 2017
THE NIGERIAN QUESTION! Who will bell the wild cat? Someone makes bold to stick out his neck. This guy has enough dough to stay in the comfort zone of his fame while millions die of hunger. He says: hell No! something must be done to get these careless politicians' attention. Then some peeps go: You are illiterate, police will kill us, some masquerade is behind the protest, why didn't he protest before, some foolish actress goes: I eep one or two on the streets, as if that's enough to solve the Nigerian question. Yet some people were writing about the Arab spring not long ago, reference is made of hundreds or thousands of IPOBs killed, as if it is justified to do so. My take for 2Baba: It is part of the sacrifice, many fellow stars have subscribed to the project, let's see how Nigeria police will kill everyone of you. Police wants to intimidate you because of the success a large crowd will register. Good luck to the youth, stick together and make it peaceful.
NYSCRe: 'I Thought You Are Buhari's Sister' - Corper Recounts Unpleasant Experience by Reggie2(m): 11:55am On Feb 03, 2017
The hausa girl in hijab and her sympathizers highlight the 'Nigerian question': they play deaf to the lamentations of other aggrieved persons because of their privileged position in the country, and sensationalize mere embarrassing comments of real or imagined fear. Those guys in the east should be told to chill : imagine the KONKOMBILITY. This goes to show how narrow minded the so called educated youth of this great country can be. SMH
PoliticsRe: Northern Politicians Have Made A Hell Of Their Fellow Northerners!!! by Reggie2(m): 11:05pm On Feb 02, 2017
Unfortunately, the poor northerners that the op is writing about have no internet access; many have no idea of being exploited. Islamic religion is all that matters to them, and many are willing to die for 'Islam'. Northern politicians are aware of this reality, and therefore use it to their advantage. Severe hardship under Buhari is beginning to stir up a few enlightened ones that something should be done, and fast too! That is why their Emirs and chiefs are crying out for more education. Boko Haram is an example of a double edged weapon that illiteracy has produced. It is consuming the north more than for whom it may have been originally destined. A stitch in time saves nine. Northern youths should unite with their other counterparts to call for good governance in Nigeria.
CrimeRe: Killing Of Southern Kaduna People By Fulani Herdsmen (Graphic Photos) by Reggie2(m): 5:32pm On Dec 30, 2016
The problem with Nigeria is two foldsad1) INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY; AND (2) TRIBE-BASED HYPOCRISY Those who sincerely believed, and, those who still sustain that Buhari has the capability to govern Nigeria, must admit that they are wrong. If you were sincere to have believed this, please let us know on what ground - political, economic, ideological or philosophical - for your assumption! You must however remember that no amount of sincerity will change wrong to right if such sincerity has come to nothing.
APOLOGISTS of the present political dispensation can be pardoned since their role as die hard supporters, is to defend omissions while highlights of a few things done right are exaggerated. If tribe and blind sentiment had no role in the past elections, Buhari had no business being Nigerian president in this Jet age! I read with sadness, opinions that continue to say that Jonathan's exit was to usher in a more credible leader, in the person of Buhari. Some of these pseudo intellectuals are saying that if he does not perform to expectation, he will be voted out! Are you for real. Political, economic and social analysis must be done before elections; it must not be an after thought because, human lives are involved.
This contribution is just for the records. Feel free to correct me since I am not interested in unnecessary polemics! We are all in a bondage in today's Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye Vs Babachir Lawal (Corrupt SGF) - Video by Reggie2(m): 10:25pm On Dec 15, 2016
Some posts here are really stvpid. Mr present spent some non redeemable period of time to select his cabinet. He told those who wanted to believe him, that he was looking for the best creep of guys to put things right. We ended up in a recession, and he blamed it on his predecessor. The entire world is shouting that the president-s ante corruption fight is selective and ill guided. Meleye-s hyperbole and sense of dramatic should be understood in its right perspective. The ball is in Buhari-s court and we are watching!!! Buhari is equally on trial.
PoliticsRe: A Reply To Reno Omokri By Lauretta Onochie On Hillary Clinton's Election Funding by Reggie2(m): 10:09am On Nov 13, 2016
Partisan politics cum intellectual dishonesty is a major problem in Nigeria. Some people will take a good look at a bird and still wonder from where it ingests food! Spokes person for the president is paid to do a job, therefore the woman must perform. We ought to digest news with both critical and analytical disposition. The question for us to ask is: why did the northern governors converge in the USA to discuss security issues! Is this move not divisive? John Kerry came to Nigeria and went to the north to discuss security. Yet under Jonathon, Clinton and the USA refused to recognize Boko Haram as a terrorist organisation until it was late! This was before our very eyes! Where did president Buhari who had declared himself poor get the money to fund his APC campaign? Did the Arab countries pay into the Clinton foundation? Why can't the present political dispensation investigate Boko Haram sponsors? A rag tag group, as president calls Boko Haram, cannot continue to strive without organised sponsorship either from within or outside the country.Nigeria will survive if only we will be true to ourselves.
CareerRe: Graduate Of University Of Abuja Frying Akara by Reggie2(m): 10:26pm On Feb 24, 2016
What plays out abroad as normal is often seen in Nigeria as absurd! Most Nigerians who come abroad although graduates, usually start off on a humble note before hooking up on something more decent; that is, if they are lucky. The Nigerian population of 'graduates' who ordinarily ought to influence elections by swinging the outcome to their favour, are still caught up in the quagmire of tribal politics; hence we get the kind of leadership that we impose upon ourselves - what a pity. Meanwhile may God bless the girl's sincere hustles to greater hights...
Car TalkRe: Innoson Cars May Be Used As Official Cars For National Assembly by Reggie2(m): 9:20pm On Feb 12, 2016
The topic by op makes me to recall yesterday's assertion by Oshiomole during an economic forum that people import parts from China, nail them together and call them 'made in Nigeria' cars! Some people in the forum even found this scandalous statement hilarious!

Having worked in an auto industry in Europe, it is my take that the 'go and die' governor has no slightest idea what drives an economy, or basic economic principles. I read elsewhere that Innoson was being rewarded for giant strides by the Nigerian Airforce. It is heart warming to read this news of recognition, appreciation and even patronage by the Nigerian Senate.I hope that the likes of Oshiomole who are supposed to govern, will seek expert advice from those who are more knowledgeable instead of politicising genuine efforts by well meaning nigerians who invest to creat employment to fellow nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze Can No Longer Guarantee Peace In The East – by Reggie2(m): 4:10pm On Mar 21, 2013
For a very long time I decided not to contribute to ethnic or tribal based tongue lashing threads just to insult others. I hononestly find it repulsive to get involved in some unintelligent discussion especially where lives are lost. Whether those murdered were ndiIgbo or otherwise, do not in any way minimize the value of the human live! What is the crime of a person who moves to another place other than his hometown to seek a living? If the argument to justify the Nigeria/Biafra was to keep the country united, what makes it criminal for a Nigerian to live in any place of his choice? When Obasanjo attempted a third term, there was a general oucry to stop him. Instead of people typing taunting words, or sitting back only to criticize Gej knowing the ignored but obvious political pitfalls, a more united outcry for wanton distruction of human lives could be a better option. We have one federal leadership and not just Igbo leaders etc. etc.
CrimeRe: Kidnap Suspect's Father Burnt Alive In Imo State by Reggie2(m): 11:37am On Feb 09, 2013
Capital punishment is not acceptable to the christian philosophy because life itself is sacred and only God can take it. People who are making demented comments on this topic are certainly referring to the due process of law since capital punishment is still allowed in Nigeria. Is jungle justice acceptable? The answer is NO! But a situation where people take laws into their own hands calls for more rational analysis rather than foolish comments. Do we have a failed state? Did you read where the police was begging youths to be calm, instead of making arrests? In an interview in London, Governor Peter Obi admitted that 90% of kidnapping cases are from within close family membership. Only a popular revolt during the OTOKOTO saga in owerri brought back some sanity in the area. I read on this topic where the father openely admitted personal involvement! In a situation of utter heplessness from government institutions, where people cannot visit their loved ones for fear of kidnapping, where relations openly endorse evil, as bad as the taking of other's lives, popular revolt is imminent! Although this writer is not endorsing this option, just stating the facts.

PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Killed 10 Christians In Borno State!!! by Reggie2(m): 2:30am On Dec 03, 2012
After the Biafran civil war, some people perhaps due to religious affinity, still go an extra mile to defend the barbaric killings (pogrom) in the north that preceded that war. They talk about a previous provocation traceable to a coup. Today, we are still witnessing a similar defense. Because someone is Muslim, he refuses to see how vulnerable his fellow Muslims may be when they turn fundamentalist. FUNDAMENTALISM is in every religion, but the drive to murder and kill others makes Islam more vulnerable in its version of fundamentalism, and a willing tool in the hands of evil minded people. Anyone who refuses to admit this, is a fundamentalist in his own way.

PoliticsRe: Soyinka Backs Achebe On Civil War Memoir by Reggie2(m): 6:32pm On Oct 17, 2012
Was there a Genocide on a section of the Nigerian population before and during the Biafran war?
Can such mob actions ever be justified by any means and what ever reason(s)?
Was there immediate and remote causes to such action?
Can such reasons justify Genocide anywhere on planet earth?
Were there responsibilities? Independently of which part of the country such actors may come from?
If yes, then there ought to be a history book to tell the story to future generation of Nigerians; that is, if we are serious about ONE NIGERIA!
Two great AFRICAN minds of world repute (Chinua Achebe & Wole Soyinka)have commented on the issue. On NL little minds prattle garbage based on ethnic sentiments
Only enlightened minds can proffer an academically balanced approach to a rather sensitive episode that consumed millions of lives without sacrificing same on the alter of stupid parochialism.

Plz carry go.
FamilyRe: Is Marriage An Achievement? by Reggie2(m): 4:20pm On Oct 12, 2012
The question should have been: is a good marriage an achievement? Getting married is only a step towards an achievement, and there are other achievements in life. If guys make it a personal thing then everyone would be right on this forum but somehow, there's a perimeter that cannot be changed by anybody as of today in our Nigerian society. I say this because some people are kicking for gay marriages which may not necessarily produce children and will feel fulfilled if such law passes. Most people dream to get a good partner and conduct a successful married life with all the huddles involved,if they achieve this goal, it's one of the biggest achievement in life
Car TalkRe: PICTURES: Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company by Reggie2(m): 4:41pm On May 14, 2012
The most stupid people are found in Nairaland. Parochialism is a disease. I work with an Italian company that produces "Case New Holland" tractors, a leader in the sector. Most of the components of these tractors are imported from around the globe and assembled in Italy. Yet the tractors are made in Italy and exported around the globe including the USA where CASE is based. If Innoson is smart enough to put together his drive lines and over 60/70 percent of components are sourced locally, Internet ranting will not stop him from moving ahead. Congrats and more grease...

Christianity EtcRe: Dominion Air: Bishop David Oyedepo Launches New Airline by Reggie2(m): 9:52am On Mar 25, 2012
Brain washing is a terrible thing. It can even hypnotize a very intelligent fellow. Take for instance, Bible storing up of treasures. Where does a wise man store up his treasures? On earth or in heaven? What amounts to treasures in the Bible context? In Bible history, some were advised to sell personal possessions in furtherance of the GOOD NEWS. Is spreading of the good news not the sole business of a pastor? Why is he called a pastor in the first place? Mother Teresa could board a plane any time she wanted, yet she had no plane of her own. She refused to partake in luxury parties organised in her honour as this directly offended and contradicted her charity oriented ministry. She attended to humanity because in her words, all have been created in his image. She assisted the poor to die a dignified death, as God's creatures. In death she was celebrated even by the Hindu who were not Christians. Many were converted to Christianity after her death following her deep spirituality. Seeking of wealth is good but not Bible inspired. I will be careful not to pass judgement on anyone, because I am not perfect. But the Bible warned those who mislead others, that it is better that they tie a rope around the neck and be cast into the ocean.
PoliticsRe: Has Tribalism On Nairaland Affected You Negatively? by Reggie2(m): 7:37pm On Mar 21, 2012
Nairaland is a forum for free ranting and jibes. Niaralanders will easily notice that such jibes revolve among the three ethnic groups, especially between the Igbo and Yoruba. And it is almost always focused on inaccurate documentary of Nigerian war events (before, during and after). Such inaccuracy makes for every joystick Tom and Harry to formulate a free-for-all version quoting whatever source he/she likes to garnish a claim. This can be very irritating to many who are better informed on the subject.

Soon, I reasoned the mischievousness of these guys who derive joy from tribal bashing and then decided to jump such threads. There is no scientific basis for blanket judgement of tribe or race. Human beings are created unique though there could be similarities and idiosyncrasies. My opinion or attitude cannot be affected by any amount of hate another fellows might harbour.

Bottom line: when corrupt officials sit to share money, they are ethnic and tribe blind.
When a corrupt police officer flags you down for his 20 Naira, you will make matter worse to speak his language because they work as a team.

PoliticsRe: CBN's Sanusi The Holy Mallam In A Romantic Romp (sizzling Photo) by Reggie2(m): 10:56am On Mar 13, 2012
My objection is that people ought to practice what they preach in public. De man na mallan. He is in the sharia business and promotes it. He told the world that Boko Haram is the product of marginalisation, by who? Sharia has it short comings which impact both on socials and standard of living as evidenced by the high number of almajiris. Now that BH is bombing everywhere, will he continue to share the CBN money as he did to Kano victims? It is hypocritical to kill innocent people in north for breaching sharia and then have forbidden public fun elsewhere. BTW sharia will forbid an adult female relation of a Muslim in a compromising position as shown (that is, if it is not Photoshoped). There is a recommended dressing code for sharia women.
PoliticsRe: We Have No Nation Yet, Says Tinubu by Reggie2(m): 9:21pm On Mar 09, 2012
To keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done! Some people forget easily, and I think many are manifesting signs of madness. A war of Nigerian unity was fought, claiming millions of lives. Some write on this forum showing how happy they are that people died. Next minute, Nigeria cannot be one. This is share madness. We shall live together till date do us part! Some people are already killing everybody up north. Na turn by turn.

Sounds like bare faced lies to me. . . .

Okonjo Iweala according to her profile was born on the 13th of June 1954, and would have been barely 13 years of age as at when the Biafran beatdown war started on the 6th of July 1967. . .

How did a thirteen year old become a war time cook?!

Or did Ojukwus Biafra use child labour during the war?!

I dunno how 'young' u are: Since you claim to be Igbo, u ought to know that 13yr old whether boys or girls were committed one way or the other during the Biafran war. If he is protesting, then against who?
If he can afford a suit, then he can feed himself
People need to be innovative with a change of mentality
Many graduates have grown from selling roadside tea and groundnut

juleze:
Smh,  Tinubu HAS a great strategist. He just single-handedly won over the naïve igbo people with this speech. I know him well enough to know that this is a 'win-over' speech, and what better time to launch it than when people have been made vulnerable by grief.

Whenever I read the comments of the yorubas, with regard to him, I stake by head at their ignorance, but for the igbo people to also be bought over means he has won over the the whole south; lest I forget, he's also a Muslim and would use that to win over a large amount of the Northerners.

The thought of the future of Nigeria, in light of all these, and more, makes my heart bleed.
Please don't be deceived.
It is quite funny for anyone to think that mere eulogy of Ojukwu will sway Ndigbo politically. Let them say the truth about what was once distorted, it is left for Ndigbo to make a political choice. Why must I not nod in agreement if I believe that somebody is saying the truth long re-negated? It is another story if I decide to ape the monkey in a dance of political orchestra. The igbo nation is not illiterate; they can be accused of greedy quest for money but they are not illiterate. All we are saying is that truth is finally coming to the fore. If the reason(s) for this is garbed by prospective political gains, we will accept the truth and then consider if there are grounds for a political alliance. After all everyone is clamouring for peace and unity. Even when we divide, we are still Africans and neighbours.
