Religion / Why Christianity Is Not A White Man’s Religion by Reggie2(m): 7:34pm On Oct 29, 2021
People pretend to be Christians to do stuff. The purity of Jesus’ teaching and the stuff people do are two different ball games.

People disguise themselves as Christians to perpetrate evil. And others blame it on the Christian religion. Europe is guilty of this pretext.

Colonial powers adopted Christianity before coming to Africa. Agreed! Its values affected their mode of living but it was not imposed on them. The arrogance that European culture is superior to Africa’s is the issue here.

The version of Christianity brought to Africa is Europe contaminated. This is why disgruntled Africans think Christianity is a product of Europe. They are right in this regard. But Christ and Christianity were not born in Europe. Simple!

I have just visited the East to attend a funeral. You need to experience the harassment meted out to civilian people of the Eastern region by the Nigerian soldiers before coming on Nairaland to spew trash. How long this type of treatment will last I cannot tell, yet history tells us that no situation is permanent in Life! I pray for my dear country, Nigeria!

Lol...your confidence is amazing. You don't even know who you are talking to, and you are telling me rubbish about International Law. I bet you have never as much as set sight on the Rome Statute before, have you?

Let me help you: the ICC is a Court of International Criminal Law, not Human Rights law. Does the distinction confuse you? See, you really have no business discussing this topic.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Suppose I inform you that I hold a Masters in International (Public) law and that not only have I studied the Rome Statute, I also live in Rome where it was created in 1998 and adopted in 2002. I will not go into a legal debate with you on this platform, you win and I rest my case
Politics / Re: Families Of Six Slain Igbo Soldiers Drag Buratai, Army To ICC - Lawyer by Reggie2(m): 1:18pm On Feb 05, 2021
SmartyPants:
Can't comment on the veracity of the news of the execution, but I find it hard to take this lawyer seriously when he says he is in the Hague to file a case and that the government should expect service by next week.

The ICC does not work like that. You cannot get up and go there to file a case as cases can only be initiated at the behest of:

a. The office of the prosecutor
b. The UN Sec. Council
c. Request by a state party to the Rome Statute--this can be turned down

That is, private individuals are not granted audience at their own instance, though a person who may be a victim in a case may be allowed legal presentation as a corollary to that case.

Moreover, the staff off the ICC are currently working remotely due to covid, so who would he be filing his case with at the physical office?

You are demonstrating ignorance in a field that you know little about. An individual has a right under International law, and a case of human right abuse can be brought before it.
Politics / Re: Ohanaeze General Assembly Asks Buhari To Consider Igbo For IGP by Reggie2(m): 12:56pm On Jan 28, 2021
Firstly, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo the apex socio cultural organisation of the Igbo is in conflict with Ipob over agitation for Biafra because of its resolve for Nigeria. Secondly, Nigeria presently operates 6 geopolitical zones and has classified Delta as South-South. This storm that is gathering will hit everyone, it's just a matter of time.

12 States, 19 States or hundred States, there must be a referendum for the people to decide. No one has any right to impose a structure on the people. If a section of a language group decide on their own volution to go with another group, so be it. Yet it must be their own esteemed choice. The Northern Governors Forum a couple of weeks ago said they had no Restructuring on their agenda, now they say it hasn't been covered by mainstream media. Haba!

This is the problem with a misguided and unbalanced mentality. The FG imposes and protects a governor, he loots money, like monkey and snake, then you blame the people. I saw a long list of responses to your liberational outbursts but could only read a few. The moral of the story is: going beyond appearance. Twice you mentioned that your estranged wife was not 'a bad woman'. And although this is your side of the story, I could still figure out your 'manly' failures. Women are quite a funny fragile lot who needs to be governed when in a relationship. When you lose your 'leadership' role or play the victim they treat you like trash. No one on this forum can guarantee you a smoother relationship as you move on with another woman. On the contrary, your estranged wife may become 'humbled' as your fortune has changed for better. You did not mention if both of you attended the same church or worshipped the same God - this would have made a big difference. Your reason to leave her parents out of the feud is not tenable - there's a reason Africans have a strong inlaw affinity. Your wife must be nuts to go outside for sex while denying the same to you. The gravity of this adulterous attitude can only exonerate you if, in all honesty, you did not mess around within the period of litigation: we all make mistakes and fall into temptation. I might sound strange in my approach, but reconciliation is a sacrifice that does not come cheap! The future of your child is at stake for no fault of hers. If your wife is indignant and unrepentant, then it's no use going back to woe her. But if she shows guilt on the role she played, remember you were vindicated when God turned your fortune around. It's time to bring out the manhood in you, forgiveness is a virtue and not a weakness.

Crime / Re: Nurse Steals Money From Dying COVID-19 Patient In US by Reggie2(m): 6:17pm On May 09, 2020
My interest here is the caption: 'Nurse steals from a dying patient'. Both thief and victim bear Italian names suggesting they are of Italian origin.
If this were to happen in Italy, it would make interesting headline waves and provide a good ground for the extreme right wing leaders as Salvini to question the existence of the entire immigrant community. Crime wears no racial colours, what is bad is bad and must be condemned.
Health / Re: Coronavirus: Olumide Okunuga Dies In Italy. by Reggie2(m): 11:28am On Mar 16, 2020
I can confirm that this News is fake and quite malicious. Dr Olumide was a wonderful person and a personal friend who suffered from protracted health problem; he does not deserve irresponsible blog reports. Dr Olumide studied Agricultural Science at the university of Bologna, he was not a medical doctor. He had slight fever and was advised to stay home in line with a general directives from the authorities. His body was found in a position that suggested cardiac arrest. His daughter lives in far away Tuscany region from Emilia Romagna. I was even contacted by a person trying to reach her after discovering the lifeless body of her father. Virus infection was never confirmed but health officials only said that autopsy would be carried out to this effect.
As our Ghana friends would put it: all die na die, yet the truth must be said about the cause of every death.
R.I.P Dr Olumide Okunuga Suraju.

I am amazed at the extent of compliments the belated Amotekun outfit is receiving from everyone. Hausa-Fulani could not have gotten this far if not for Yoruba post war complicity.

Like a boomerang the political monster the duo of North/West alliance has come back to haunt the proprietors of this unholy marriage. While Boko Haram is still ravaging the North East, killer herdsmen are overrunning the South West en route to the South East.
Amotekun has become indispensable for political survival of the South West, it is not an option!
The likes of Tinunbu are still sitting on the fence to tap from un-restructured and non workable Nigeria. While a supposed erudite Osinbayo is a shadow of his former self wearing deceptive smiles.
The truth is that many of us are living in denial of Nigeria's real problem.
Bottom line, devolve power through restructuring, everyone is suffering, I mean EVERYONE!

I watch 'paternity Court' on TV and sympathize with the African-American female Judge who would always struggle to explain 'generational curse' and how to break the trend. For purposes of this post, this TV courtroom drama brings us back to parenting, parenthood and single motherhood-the root cause of this evil- which our so-called celebrities are currently promoting in Nigeria.
I want to believe that this man's account was hacked, as the contents are both incomprehensible and unintelligent. If this guy is real and was brought up in the USA, he certainly does not belong to the category of educated class of Nigerians making the waves in that country.
Politics / Re: Ali Ndume: "I Disagree With Creating Agency For Boko Haram" (video) by Reggie2(m): 8:34pm On Feb 21, 2020
StreetFight:
I too disagree totally, it makes no sense even to a dog. But you agreed for the creation of an Agency for repentant militants, paying them monthly for doing nothing, sending them to foreign schools with government money and making several of them billionaires overnight e.g. Asari Dokuboh, Government Tompolo, John Boyloaf, Ateke Tom after kidnapping, raping and killing several Nigerians and foreigners.

The problem with this type of reasoning is that some nitwits will probably applaud. Delta militants and Ipobians give reasons for agitation, venting their anger and frustration through the use of arms against the state. What are the Haramites fighting for?
We seem to shy away from genuinely answering this burning question. It's on this backdrop that Ndume is perplexed, especially when they have not given up arms.
Politics / Re: FG, South-West Governors Agree To Formalise Amotekun by Reggie2(m): 8:02pm On Jan 23, 2020
While commending the unity among the Yoruba Nation that has ultimately yileded good results, I must however point to a glaring fact: that the Yoruba political class are both FENCE dwellers as well as good political strategists.
They certainly hold the key to the unity or disintegration of Nigeria's unholy marriage in a rather delicate political tripartite (comprising the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba)
The continued impunity by a section of the country is the result of where and how the Yoruba choose to pinch their political tent.
The Fulani are aware that going into a fight at this point in time will be a political miscalculation.
I'm afraid that this victory may come with a high prize for the theird parties to this union.
Let us therefore look out for the opportunity cost of this concession against the backdrop of 2023.

Business / Re: Johnmary Jideobi: Allen Onyema Should Not Be Extradited To US - Lawyer To Court by Reggie2(m): 11:32am On Nov 27, 2019
When one considers the venom laden bile promptly vomited on this platform by people from both sides of the tribal divide, i.e Yoruba and Igbo, I cannot but agree with those who believe that the survival of our Nigerian contraption is not within sight! Often, I realize that while many are just ignorant and naive, others seem to be paid to orchestrate and hype the division.

Until we decide to go our separate ways, we must realize that we need each other to forge ahead, even as neighbors. Great minds in the entertainment industry, e.g the Nollywood, are very aware of this and are doing fine both for themselves and for Nigeria.

Those who are engaged in this tribal diatribe are sure idle brains even if they are paid to do so.
This trend has gone beyond mere sarcasm, and of course, contributes nothing to humanity - which includes you and me.

According to Kwasi Wiredu, a Ghanian thinker, intellectualism goes beyond mere defense one's tribe, you must be a resource to humanity. When next you contribute to the social platform, don't just derive happiness in attacking others, or being sentimental and hurting people, be a resource to humanity. I know some people will still come after me and will accuse me of 'oversabi'.
Travel / Re: Joe Igbokwe: "Air Peace Blocked Me From Travelling, Shocked Me" by Reggie2(m): 3:47pm On Nov 19, 2019
Mr Joe must have a fixated mind towards Air Peace. I watched him trying hard to demarket this rather sensitive biz on television all in the name of politics.
He maintains he's been flying Air Peace, is he looking for another opportunity to "criticize" the airline?
He missed his morning fight, tried to bribe his way through and then got blocked. He didn't state why he missed the flight - perhaps the big man syndrome, someone said "gutter affairs" that now makes him feel important.
He has the right to criticize but people know when you are balanced in critical analysis. He should deal with a sense of rejection. I hope my input will not be seen as hate speech.

Politics / Re: Tradermoni Scheme Enmeshed In Fraud Allegations, Illegal Deductions by Reggie2(m): 12:36pm On Dec 15, 2018
It is unintelligent and worrisome to hear people shift a blame of accountability to people rather than to the government. If this is the case, why the noise of FIGHTING CORRUPTION! What measures are in place to actually fight corruption when an implementation is fraught with another form of corruption! You go to the market to share money, demand two thousand naira upfront and vote commitment, and some right-minded somebody turns around to defend the undefendable. Typical police corruption syndrome: deploy officers to collect bribe on the roads, fain ignorance, and when a report is made, they tell you that they are either not aware, or that they will investigate the matter.
Politics / Re: Taking The Buhari/Jubril Story Seriously By Abimbola Adelakun by Reggie2(m): 11:18am On Dec 07, 2018
I gave up reading from the first paragraph cos I just had the feeling that it will be a waste of time. It was when I read your comment I had to go back and skim the essay, thinking I was too quick to dismiss it but I don't see what makes it a brilliant article. From the first paragraph one can see the writer's stance: he does not believe the Jibril theory.

He starts by trying to shade Nnamdi Kanu, then ends by stating the same concerns that have been raised. He only succeeded in dancing round the issues without making any sense. His main aim was to discredit the impostor stance.

Is it not a shame that a so called journalist cannot do proper investigation even when s/he has agreed that a lot is amiss, than composing an inconclusive article that serves no practical purpose

I guess the writer was playing safe with literal rigmarole to avoid being military-napped

Nelson Mandela was not in the good books of the USA, he was considered not fit for the US Visa. Yet the decision was for the South African people to make. Nigerians are funny. Our destiny must not be tied to the American Visa but on how we must get good governance. It is not for us to decide who the Americans give entry Visa to their country. I heard some people say previously that Atiku is a wanted man in that country, why are people now stopping him from travelling there to face justice?

millomaniac:

You have a point but my disappointment is that you allowed the actions of two paranoid unknown white skinned american women to inspire this write up. And more sadly they made you look down on yourself and people. Yes Africa and Africans are always protrayed in bad light. But from your write up that area or route seems not to have the best of security. The women might have heard stories about the area same as you. Same way you were security conscious of the surrounding by going the extra length to making sure you have enough gas so as to not get stranded in that area in as much as that area is dominated by white skinned folks is same way they became security conscious on sighting a male approaching them in that area. May be it was your appearance some people just naturally have a bad mean appearance or maybe they were just being paranoid or maybe they saw a dark skinned man. But you opted for the later. They might have acted same if a menacing white skinned male was approaching them. Or they might have acted differently if a very good looking young dark skinned male approached or a dark skinned priest approached. I am sure you wouldn't have come up with this write up. if similar actions were taken by 2 dark skinned women. Which then begs the question "are you being racist against yourself?" We as a dark skinned people must not succumb to seeing ourselves the way people of other race sees us. There is absolutely nothing wrong with us. Africans are indeed wonderful people. If the wrong set of people assume power and deny their people food, quality education and basic human amenities no matter the race of people they would find themselves exactly if not worse than africa. same way their are notorious african american neighbourhoods and a person whether white or dark skinned becomes security conscious at the sight of a dark skinned man when they are in those neighbourhood is same way there are notorious white american neighbourhoods and a white or dark skinned person becomes security conscious on sighting a white skinned man in that neighbourhood . The difference is the notorious african neighbourhood is over publicized and blown out of proportion.

I was about responding to op's long writeup when I saw yours. You have said my mind.
