@dbride
NITWITS, so if Jonathan had these plans, why budget billions to maintain generating sets in his villa? WHAT A PITY!

Thank u bros for seeing beyond your nose.

^
@leomax,beaf and friends
Kindly explain the above cos, i dey wonder!, wonder!!wonder!!!, wonder, wonder, wonder, but i refuse to turn to wonderer
Thanx to gov deregulation of telecom, some people can afford to type senseless logic coming from their backside hole.

Jona stays in the presidential villa. That villa is the power house of the Nigerian government whether u guys accept it or not. Perhaps people are envious because in all humility, he agreed he had no shoes. Obama also rose to power beyond all expectations. How much was budgeted for presidential power b4 Jona ascended to power?
So because he plans to resolve powers problems in Nigeria, he should live and receive diplomats in unstable power and darkness?
An answer was earlier given that, the amount was budgeted and not spent! Nitwits who are blinded by hate will not see or hear.

Do we turn our debate on the real issue of deregulating the energy sector, or on what was budgeted to keep Aso rock lit?
Even when power starts working, the presidential villa, like hospitals, will still need a budget for power back up. That's how it works all over the world.

Jona, don't mind your detractors, carry go and reform Nigeria.

Nigerians are so used to awof that no amount of reasoning will suffice to explain removal of subsidy. From Europe, most African countries export gas runner cars due to cost effectiveness!

Can anyone deny that everything reins in Nigeria at any given period? It is either Benz today or Jeep tomorrow. This is the period of Jeep. Every Tom, Dick and Harry is riding a Jeep to show that he has 'made it'. Even if these Dudes are mere fraud stars.

In Europe, people use cost effective vehicles because of tax and the cost of fuelling 'big' cars.
How much is the cost of kerosene in Nigeria? How much is the cost of cooking gas? Why have these concerned Nigerians not taken to the streets to protest the hight cost of these essential commodities? I guess the poorest of poorest of Nigerians use kerosene to cook and light his house, at what cost?

There is a lot of hypocrisy in Nigeria!

When a faceless creep of animals on a Xmas day killed 42 innocent worshippers, wiping away families, I had expected these so-called patriots like alj harem, to call for a Mass protest to condemn such barbaric act in a show of solidarity to affected families, and to show that the country is still one and united. Instead, he and his likes, were calling for the head of Jonathan. Despite whatever security lapses that may be attributed to the FG, people can still show that they are united towards a common cause.

This forum can be annoying a times as anyone is free to vomit putrid without logical sequence.

Yet the protagonists of a revolution in Nigeria that abound on this forum are not on the streets to partake in anti subsidy protests!!!!!!!!!

God save Nigeria.

The north is not satisfied with a core South president, they incite palava, West characteristically will talk tough and wait for others to begin the fracas, then they become protagonists at war, looking for where their bread is best buttered. But things don change my brodas. Global political alignment don change also

@ololo,
First,l will not claim to have ALL THE SOLUTIONS! Nigeria's problem is so deep rooted that one person cant solve it in one day but we can nip at it bit by bit.
My idea will be based on the philosophy that "if l am naturally good, your own evil will not turn me to an evil person".
It is called reverse-engineering!

Like l have showed earlier, some Northern power-brokers are behind all these bombings, using Boko Haram.
They simply want to instigate chaos and give their Military boys (over half of the Nigerian military are Northerners and most occupy key positions) the opportunity to stage a coup so that power can return to the Northern oligarchy, by hook or crook.

If we now know their MOTIVE, must we now DANCE to their TUNE?
Will that not be fool-hardy and a case of "Thunder-assisted Bomb explosion"?
That is what "retaliatory or reprisal killings" in the South will achieve.

What we can do:
Short term:
*Fire all the current intelligence Chief; from Army, SSS, DMI, to Police. Replace them with "naturally intelligent people" that we can "crash-course" on intelligence management.

*Send a few "intelligent people" (they dont even have to have a security background but they must be University Graduates with sound academic background to allow them cope with the learning curve) to foreign countries that are steeped in courses like intelligence gathering, enemy infiltration, search and destroy but going forward, we need to develop our own native intelligence outfit or at least re-organize the current ones)

*Intelligence! Intelligence!! Intelligence!!!
*National I.D Card IS A MUST.
*Expanded Biometric Database should be constituted and available to Security Agencies online. Proper Data Protection measures should be taken to protect peoples identity.
Infiltrate their ranks, (we are coming to the party very late on this issues). Gather information on their sponsors, check all importation of bomb-making materials in the last 2years.
*Put Financial, Electronics and Computer Forensic experts to work: Lets us follow the money and see who paid for what, using what account.
*Let us analyse the bomb materials and see if they have a peculiarity to a particular country, a period, a location, e.t.c, just about any thing that we can wring information from. Lets do serious forensics on the bomb fragments and cross-check finger prints on them with some people that are "at risk".
*Lets tap "suspects" phone calls, Lets get the GSM companies to cooperate and examine the "call-logs" of certain "at risk" people, for the last two years, at least. Lets keep monitoring every move they make.

THEY WILL MAKE A SINGLE SLIP AND THATS ALL WE NEED IF WE ARE SMART AND VIGILANT ABOUT IT.

Medium term"
*Draw out the enemy: Invite the Boko Haram to openly (ON TV) come out and state their demands. it is not "weakness" to know your enemy or what they stand for.
If we can meet some demands, we agree, if we cant, we say so clearly, reminding them that we are not negotiating from a position of weakness but giving them a chance to come to the fold or get smoked.

We make it clear that Religion is not to be discussed at the table. Each man to his own religion, LET GOD DEFEND HIMSELF.

We will wear the BokoHaram guys down with "active negotiations" while we strengthen ourselves and infiltrate them.
If at the end of a year or two they are still adamant, we will have got enough "materials" to cut them to pieces and it would be death penalty for ALL THEIR SPONSORS and FIELD WORKERS who have killed someone; and Life imprisonment for the members who have no blood on their hands

*Lets do some redress of the constitution: Religion and state of Origin to be completely removed from the constitution and our national  life. Everyone is of-course FREE to practice their religion anywhere in Nigeria but it must be a "PERSONAL THING", not to be elevated to the level of "Statehood".
Every Nigerian is an indigene of anywhere they live and they have right to work, live and own property including adult suffrage rights (vote and be voted for)
These are basically the root of some of these problems.

*Make education COMPULSORY and FREE for any child up to JSS3 level. Parents should be sanctioned if they fail to take children to school up to that level. Issue of "Almanjeri or any sort of child-begging" should be outlawed and criminalized.

Equally important, lets have Zero-tolerance for corruption. Lets  adopt the Chineese/ Tunde Idiagbon model: Death Penalty for economic looters. By the time we behead or tie a few to some Drums at Bar beach and waste them, others will get the message and peeps like Dimeji Bankole will take us serious.

Long Term:
We re-organize our institutions  like:

Judiciary who are basically criminals that sell Justice
Police: Stop recruiting criminals into the force when we have a lot of honest and educated people who are looking into doing a decent job for a decent pay. Give them good pay, re-design the Police station and re-train those that are malleable and sack all the "dregs" left.
Education: Tutors at all level need to buckle up. well and on time but sack and prosecute all those that engage in "unbecoming" behaviors within the academic institution. We need to re-orientate our youths to have a better "moral standing" in contrast to the "settle me" culture that IBB popularized in the country!

Provide a "humane" living standard for our  citizens: Let us have a form of "social welfare system" for the less privileged to cushion them between when they are out of work. Like a Graduate who is looking for work, can be placed on a "Two year welfare assistance", pending when he is searching for a job and can take care of small expenses. The widows, Orphans, e.t.c also fall into this category.
l know it could be easily abused but we must have to work hard to identify and remove the lapses.

Most importantly, make Power Generation a real emergency (as against OBJ's type of "loot-loot emergency"wink. This country will go nowhere without stable power (l thought Awolowo, Zik and Tafa Balewa told us that?) and we can be great with stable power. Go Nuclear, Go Solar, Go Hydro but just ensure every house has 24.7 electricity.

Am sure Uncle Jonathan has more to add since he appears to be "on top" of his game! shocked shocked wink wink grin

Gej claims he knows the sponsors

Simple round up the sponsors and jail them quickly, when the source of funding dries up they would stop.
The logistics and bombs making require money
Take out the sponsors and the foot soldiers would wilt away
Many thanks for your suggestions.
Meanwhile, Nigeria runs a democracy which has a process. There are three arms of government.
What if Gej knows those behind BH? It is one thing to know, another to gather evidence for the courts to jail people.

Guantanamo Bay is one of the reasons the Arab world is not happy with the USA, not following due process of law. Suppose there's an outside link and funding? Have you ever thought of that? There were extra judicial killing by the Nigerian armed forces and the world cried out for due process. It is not as simple as you make it sound because you don't round up outside or inside sponsors and jail them just like that.

Some members of BH who got caught were trained in Sudan. Who ever thought that a Nigeria university student of high breed will go to Yemen to be trained as a terrorist? What cause was he fighting? Is he repentant? Is he mentally derailed? Questions for you and I.

People prepared to blow themselves up to kill others will simply not run away as you think, because they have been brainwashed into believing that they are dying for a just cause.

Jona may be slow and people are rightly worried but there is a bigger picture, my broda.

You may think of other suggestions my dear brother.

In the comity of senseless people you should be made a life President?

Which section of the people are being targetted?

Take a census of people killed by Boko Haram and you would notice that Hausa Moslems are the most followed by Hausa Xtians before any other group.

This killings are possible because we have a clueless President in power. I'm sure other leaders find ways of curbing vilence.

If he cant do it based on his track record of non performance then he should quit.

This useless Retardeen President came out and said he knows the Sponsors of Boko haram yet he is waiting for more Nigerians to die before he takes any action
I will refrain from calling you deserved names, others can figure out what names.
The 'groups' you mentioned constitute sections of people whether they come first or second in your grouping. Yet you deny that people are targeted for whatever reason(s). Do you sound reasonable?

I once asked alj harem to give this forum some plausible suggestions on what the president should do. His answer: close boundaries of neighbouring countries, deploy soldiers to hot spots, declare a state of emergency and all other trash,  In reply I queried him if northern reps were in agreement with previous deployment? If northern politicians did not request for an apology when the army went tough with suspected criminals? He could not answer. I asked if in ecowas setting closing of boundaries did not amount to act of hostility and whether these criminals are actually from Chad and Niger? He could not confirm this either. So I will ask you to give us your own suggestions in a volatile Nigerian political  set up?
Maybe, just maybe you will be the guy to replace Gej.

This can only translate to several persons teaming up to reply to debates on this forum all posing as alj harem and dayokano and co. These persons can go back to history intelligently defending northern political agenda. Some other times they quibble like uneducated folks depending on who is replying to issues being debated

Notice also that they do not comment on vital burning issues such as the Xmas bombing but will quickly appear to speak up when it it seem to be in their advantage.

These guys are evil and really do not care about the victims of these bombing provided their goal of pulling down the government is achieved.

But at the end, they will fail.

Make una no make me laugh. If casala shele today for 9ja, which army go fight which army? Pple should forget about Biafra kinda defence system. There's much more at stake today. Make una remember say Muttalab go bomb Amerika so don't count on their support or that of Britain to fight Biafra. This time it will be a free for all fight. Coup d' d'etat? Don't even go there, there will civil disobedience. Army will divide into factions.

It is however very disheartening to read a list of entire families wiped out in the Xmas bombing! Very sad indeed. It is not enough to sit back and talk of criminal activities or to blame only government who has not really demonstrated activeness on security matters. All hands must be on deck. Nigeria is a product of years of misrule. I consider all those blaming Jona to be unrealistic and fake.
1. No proper census
2. No national ID card
3. Ghost workers everywhere
4. Railway breakdown
5. Airways nko? where u go see am
6. Billions upon Billions stolen in broad daylight - na Jona send them?

Its a shame, to some of the people posting here!
And these are supposed to be the "future leaders" of Nigeria? With this kind of silly and gullible mentality!!

First, even a 10yr old (and some of you call yourself "educated adults"wink knows a few things l will highlight below:

1.) The shift in power from North to South is bound to generate animosity amongst SOME NORTHERNERS! Not all [/b]of them

2.) That GEJ is also a Christian is boun to make some "Muslim Fanatics" (by no means all Muslims) get angry.

3.) If all else have failed (of if chaos is their first choice), these people (Boko and their sponsors) are out to cause chaos and create confusion.

4.) If that does not work, they would try to intimidate others to support their cause (the aim of the bombings and killings)

5) If that too does  not get the message home, they will try to INCITE others against the govt and the people.

6.) Again, if that does not work again they would try to SET THE PEOPLE AGAINST THEMSELVES! Muslims against Christians, North against South!
It does not matter whether one person is innocent or guilty, they just want you to butcher yourself!

7.) And l must add that we have noticed a few people who are "ACTING THE SCRIPT" here on Nairaland. Some have just registered, some have registered "additional and multiple" usernames, just to spew nonsense and incite violence against one another!

Yes, you can see from their comments: Christians must retaliate!. Southerners must bomb back! Life for Life!! Blood for Blood!!

But have you asked yourself: Who are these son's and daughters of Lucifer, asking you to retaliate?
*Is that what your Bible teaches you? Is that what your Quaran teaches you?
*What do you achieve if you kill some Northerner/Muslim in Ibadan, because a Southerner/Christian was killed in Damatru?
*Can that "Retaliatory Killing" bring back the life of that your loved one? Can it make you feel better? Can it remove the Loss?
*Much more importantly, IS THAT PERSON YOU KILLED (IN RETALIATION), RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PAIN?
*Do you know that you are/will be as guilty, if not even worse than the Boko Haram that you are castigating now? if you call Boko Haram people "Animals", what then are you if you descend to their low, animal level?

ANYONE THAT CAN NOT OFFER MEANINGFUL SOLUTIONS TO OUR CURRENT PROBLEM, SHOULD NOT CONSTITUTE THEMSELVES INTO ANOTHER SET OF PROBLEM!

The only way to defeat evil is not by becoming evil yourself, but by letting your "goodness show and shine" above such evil!

I urge all Nigerians who have been caused pain and grief to take solace in "the goodness of the human heart", let vengeance be God's!
When we refuse to do that which they expect us to do (fight one another) we have already defeated them psychologically.

The PRESIDENT must then make more effort to ensure that our victory is complete and we can defeat them physically. The current set of "intelligence and armed forces" you are relying on, are not competent and up to the task. Seek help from other sources PLEASE!

In addition, every democracy has the fortune or misfortune of electing capable and non capable Presidents. George Bush was not the best America could produce, yet no one called for him to be topped before the end of his term of office. What is the role of opposition in a democracy?
When enemies of progress call for Gej to be forcibly removed, what are they actually advocating? And who do they want to put there and by what means?

On a final note, No genuine Christian will resort to wanton destruction of human lives and still claim Christianity. This is what some of us wanted northern Muslim leaders to loudly proclaim in respect of their religion. Anyone following Christ must not shed blood or resort to violence. It is written in black and white in the Bible!

let the army take over this country in the interest of peace and unity of our country, suspend the constitution and make a new one, since 1999 our country is gradually turning to a war zone, i believe this useless politicians are not after the unity of Nigeria but rather their selfish agenda

^^^^^^^^^

This is precisely the aim of the so called boko haram and those using them! To make the north come back to power through the barrels of the gun. I wonder if this is still feasible in today's Nigeria. Democracy means that people are voted into power and are impeached by votes. If people cannot wait for Gej to terminate his term, their representatives are there to pass a vote of no confidence.

I feel some of us here have personal grudges with the Sultan. The theme of the programme the Sultan attended was not about terrorism. The man made the statement between 12pm and 1pm on 25/12/11 hence wouldnt have known there were bomb blasts on that day. This day wasnt the first day he would talk about terrorism. The man made the statement to support the submission of the person that spoke before him that the cause of BH has no basis in Islam even though they hide under the name.  About the unity of a thing, when did that become a crime? He never asked the muslim youths he was addressing to unite against any other religions, the country or any other group of people. The Sultan is not the Commander-In-Chief of Armed Forces. He doesnt have the power to arrest or order the arrest of any criminal. He has discharged his duty by coming out to tell the people categorically that his religion does not approve of the activities of the BH. No right thinking person would support the activities for whatsoever reason!
Are you in all sincerely credible even to yourself? Are you by your utterances showing brotherly concern for those callously killed in the name of Islam The criminals say
they are fighting for Islam. The onus is for other Muslims to condemn in the strongest terms the barbaric actions of these miscreants, starting from the Sultan.

Any right thinking person who is not blinded by religious garbs should know that the Sultan wields big influence over Muslim youths. That was why he was invited to give an address in the first instance. Islam is so vulnerable that if he tells northern youths to kill, they will follow his orders! Past records of riots in that part of the country can attest to this assertion.

Since he has no business with boko haram, he should have left them out of his speech! Instead he was calling for unity? Can you please explain to this forum what the tenets of this unity are? Are you, like your Sultan Master, sincere when you say that such a highly placed person did not hear about the bomb by midday?

Can somebody please tell this forum why past leaders could not stop the police from openly extorting money on our roads? And why they could not stop alarming corruption? Was it because they were weak? I hate to hear people give credit to past leaders and turn around to castigate the incumbent president, weakness and all

It is one thing to call a spade a spade and another to give a dog a bad just to hang it. Whatever we do or say, truth shines like the sun.

May the Souls all those killed on Christmas Day rest in perfect peace and may they forgive those who killed them for the sake of ISLAM

The presence of heavily armed American army and a line of supposedly green zone in Iraq did not stop suicide bombers from carrying out their mission. The same can be said of Pakistan and Afghanistan! Jonathan critics should also tell us if the the Americans are weak where supposedly humans decide to bomb themselves to hell by killing innocent people?

Truth is that when people without a mind and human value decide to go on a suicide mission, it takes the vigilance of everyone to make an impact. Those calling for the head of the incumbent president for a problem created over five decades are not sincere to themselves.

I think I have been underestimating the population of the educated illiterate in my beloved country. Some of the comments on this forum is outstandingly unbelievable. If the so-called Nigerian elites continue to think as depicted by their comments on issues, then Nigeria is hopeless. EVERY issue is commented on based on ethnic and religious sentiment. Are we really this silly?
Akiika:
And BTW, what do you commentators gain by verbally abusing/cursing other commentators that share contrary view to your view. What' s the point when you cannot even see the person? Why the unnecessary emotional outburst? What's the Internet ego about? Channel your anger towards forming a formidable group that will demonstrate to protest the maladministration going on in the country, this is the only way to force change. y'all are the victim of the Government and yet you are victimizing yourselves. Who among you chose his ethnicity or religion when coming to the world? Is it new that the Sultanate is a political appointment? since when did he become the Islam religion spokesperson? Can anybody even say authoritatively that the sultan even observe his 5 daily prayers - one of the etiquettes of a Muslim. Does Islam even permit the hero worshipping of the sultan as is practised in the North? Does Islam permit the impoverishment of the people while the leader is stupidly rich as the case of the sultan and his people? There are only bad and good people, it a'int nothing about religion or ethnicity.
I was about requesting your input in order to access your high breed intellect before reading your follow up post. It is unintelligent for an enlightened Nigerian not to see the ethnic division that is the bane of Nigerian politics. Ethnicity, religious bigotry and blind hatred have marked our long cohabitation. The so called poor leadership in Nigeria today is a product of the above factors and people will continue to choose the wrong people out of mere chauvinism.

Under what pretext would you be uniting "Nigerian youths" towards a revolution? Who are the students' leaders? Do you not have the Arewa youths, Odua youths and Oha n' eze youths? Where is the pan Nigerian youth movement? You will answer by saying that the social forum should be used to orchestrate one, but that in my humble opinion is a wishful thinking, going by divergent opinions on this forum.

If the pride of your Islamic faith is hurt by some posting here, you have to live with it or answer some nagging questions! Some people have been murdered in cold blood by those who claim they want to install sharia at all levels. Don't blame it only on poor leadership because these guys pretty know what they are doing. And for your information, it is called religious bigotry and hatred
PoliticsRe: Sultan Decries Lack Of Unity Among Muslims: Fooolish Sultan by Reggie2(m): 4:09pm On Dec 26, 2011
The one bloody thing wrong with Islam as a religion is the Christmas day type of tragedy. Religion should be about personal spiritual relationship with God rather than about killing others who refuse to be converted! The Sultan's talk of Muslim unity is geared in this direction; i.e, about accommodating all creeps of believers under one Islamic umbrella, including extremists.

A sensitive leader so highly placed has a sacred duty to condemn senseless killings in a religiously diverse country. We are talking about condemnation here and not about fighting Boko haram

And for all those calling on Jonathan to declare war on the north, they will be disappointed because Biafra once fought in self defence and lost. Nigeria's politics is hydra headed and this is just a gimmick to render him and 2015 null and void. The north is cowardly to hide under Boko haram. Let them declare open secession instead of killing unarmed worshippers.

Problem in the west is "socializing". Parents are scared stiff when their over 20 babies either don't hang out at all or hang out with the wrong guys. It's not like in Nigeria where your search and contacts are wide. I doubt that any enlightened parent - and I suppose pple living in Canada are enlightened - will put pressure on a young lady of 23.

Western 'gospel' is that marriage is no longer necessary and that girls can perfectly stay on their own or become single Mums. No matter how plausible this reasoning may sound, most African parents don't quite agree. Hence they tend to remind their girls who have come of age of the "true gospel", that of marriage! . This behaviour from parents will certainly add to budding agitation of a young woman who equally have her preoccupations.

So it is normal and human to feel anxiety towards a union such as marriage, with all its expectations and problems including the right person with whom to do so.

Instead of running mouth against Ghana 4 their proposed importation of power to 9ja, we may soon be reading about some phantom billions remitted to Ghana 4 the deal. Our politicians are capable of pulling all sorts of deals; obasanjo is still roaming free after his own deals, na today?

I admire the moderate tones adopted by alh_harem and Nagoma in response to my rather hash post. Admitted that there are other kinds of evil going on down south which tend to inhibit some of us going home to invest meaningfully, none of these crimes, such as kidnapping, are targeted at other ethnic residents in the zone. You must agree with me that although some northerners are killed by BH - because they are basically seen as collaborators - recent killings by BH are mostly targeted at southerners. In the case of the Niger Delta when armed robbers hijacked their "kidnapping" modus operandi, the organisation was quick to denounce that they had nothing to do with indiscriminate kidnapping of Nigerians. BH is a terrorist organisation that is well funded and with extremist religious motive. If northern politicians have hijacked it for selfish aims, northern elites and religious leaders must come out boldly to condemn it and give Jonathan the green light to take them up. If this is not done, the wrong signal will continue to be transmitted in a fragile Nigerian political set up.

The high level of illiteracy in northern Nigeria is a statistical reality. Although NL is a forum of faceless jibes, it however provides an insight into the mindset of digitalized folks from that extraction. Whereas the illiterate lot are the "go kill" population who will not think twice before descending on a presumed enemy, the few educated ones seem to shoulder a sacred duty to defend everything "north" hence are prepared to thwart history through ethnic parochialism. These guys are more dangerous than the almajiris who ordinarily do not value neither their own lives nor those of their victims. None of these northern Niaraladers have focused the issue of BH which is very much with us today. The much I have read from them is that poverty is at the root of it all, with a follow up blame on the shoulders of Jonathan! Between Yoruba/Igbo groups, who by the way constitute major contributors to NL forum, I see mere rivalry and distrust caused by tragic events of the Biafran war.

@topic

Let us see if for once, these guys or northern apologists will agree that people are carelessly killed in the north for no just cause. It is intellectually nauseating to suggest that people can be killed because they are loud mouthed and proud

Worry about Italian and African economy and let America sort themselves out, i don't know how this thread has become about American economy.

^^^^^^
See how foolish some people can be defending others like themselves! What factors necessitate migration in the first instance? Why do people move to seek greener pastures? Those vested with the duty of governance should worry about fixing economies whether in Italy or in Africa. The thread has everything to do with American economy because kobo junky feels comfortable there as African immigrant and then mock others who are less fortunate.
Be wise and grow up.

Americans woke up one morning to find their accumulated treasures disappear and they called it economic melt down! Soon people from that part of the world will be seeking safe heaven elsewhere. The only difference is that they will do it with impunity and arrogance just as history foretells. It was high time someone told that kobo junkie woman some home truths.

First, it is very un-african to mock and laugh at someone in distress. If she had some sense and come from the yoruba extraction, she should know.
Second, Africans speak in proverbs and parables. She did neither, she only mocked and then asked people to
go back to school for English classes.
When it comes to bigotry, she is a local champion typing all sorts of trash.
As for those justifying the humour in her stupidity, we cannot change our being Africans, and humanity has a long history of migration that cannot stop because some junkie so wishes.

PoliticsRe: Igbo Traders Count Losses After The Kaduna Bomb Blast by Reggie2(m): 10:37am On Dec 09, 2011
It is rather stupid to advise people from one part of Nigeria not to live in another part of the same country. Nigeria remains a geographical reality for which millions of lives were lost during the Biafran war. Nigeria actually fought a dirty war to keep the country one and indigbo were constrained to embrace ONE NIGERIA! Why would anyone think that it is senseless for people to settle down where they like in a free Nigeria?

It is still on record that Ojukwu offered shelter to returnees from the north after series of attacks that later culminated into a pogrom. The result was a pursuit into igbo heartland with accusation still being propagated in some sections of Nigeria that he was hasty on that decision!

Jonathan is being accused of inaction in a setting similar to Ojukwu's so that, he will be accused of genocidal tendency towards the north. We all heard northern legislatures rant in the house of Assembly accusing government of high handedness in previous counter attacks against BH.

Bottom line. Ndigbo must organise to defend themselves in a free for all jungle style till the powers that be define how we will live together as a people. Jonathan must not fall into a trap that is set to throw him out of office. People can transfer to any place of relative safety but this must not imply leaving properties behind, which of course requires time and money.

If security in the area is ok, one may think of tourist business from Europe. Can anyone tell us more about reliability of facilities such as power, transport and costs?

Good pics though.
