As my life was about to become useless in the village, I came to the city to stay with my older brother and learn phone repairs.

My plan is to have this handwork so that when i gain admission, i wont rely totally only on education which has failed many in the country.

But my blood brother I'm staying with is behaving unkind to me as though i am a total stranger to him. Even total strangers deserve better treatment.

I'm only an apprenctice and yet to start making money. Most of the days, i trek to the place and return because I dont have transport.

He leave house first before me and return before me too. Before I would come back, he would cook noodles and finish it, washed the pot and everything and keep them clean as though nothing happened. Sometimes he eat outside and come back home and ignore me.

Except there's another way for me, that is how I would go hungry throughout the night and as early as possible in the morning, he would leave the house without reasoning anything food.

I'm seriously starving. I thought he would share the little he has with me till I also start making money. Is this how a senior brother should behave with the junior one?

He's being unkind to me and now I feel like hiding the Garri I brought from the village from him.

KYIV, Ukraine — Tens of thousands of drones have been employed across Ukraine to kill the enemy, spy on its formations and guide bombs to their targets. But this month the Ukrainian military began a program to use drones in a more unusual role: to guide Russian soldiers who want to surrender.

The program had its genesis in late November, when the Ukrainian military released footage of a Russian soldier throwing his weapon to the ground, raising his hands and nervously following a path set out by a drone overhead, leading him to soldiers from the Ukrainian army’s 54th Mechanized Brigade.

A few weeks later, the Ukrainian General Staff released an instructional video explaining how Russian soldiers can surrender to a Ukrainian drone, and it is now part of a wide-ranging effort by Ukraine to persuade Russian soldiers to give up. The program, called “I want to live,” includes a phone hotline, a website and a Telegram channel all dedicated to communicating to Russian soldiers and their families.


It’s too early to know whether the drone effort will lure Russian deserters in any meaningful numbers. But it adds another avenue for Ukraine to recruit Russian deserters, this one with a distinctly modern twist to the age-old tactic of informational warfare. And if nothing else, it may further the erosion of Russian morale on the battlefield.

Russian defeats have already provided an opening for Ukraine to exploit that low morale, especially in the months after the Kremlin’s September mobilization, which has sent thousands of new recruits into fierce battles with little training and scant supplies.

Petro Yatsenko, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for Treatment of Prisoners of War, said in an interview Monday that Ukraine has had more than 4,300 direct requests for information on how to surrender through the “I want to live” program. It is not possible to independently verify the claims.

Yatsenko said the military would not release information about the number of Russians in Ukrainian captivity for security reasons.

Andriy Yusov, who represents the intelligence department in Ukraine’s ministry of defense, said Ukraine had received 1.2 million inquiries about the program since it was set up Sept. 18. Most of the queries are coming from Russia, he said, and the vast majority involved appeals from “people who are studying for themselves or their relatives the possibility of saving life in the bloody and unjust war.”

For the past 10 months, both Russia and Ukraine have engaged in robust informational campaigns targeting enemy soldiers with leaflets, social media posts, radio appeals, text messages and television campaigns, all dedicated to convincing them to surrender.

In May, when the Russians were laying waste to towns and cities and beginning to gobble up land in eastern Ukraine, not all the guns were loaded with explosives. Some Soviet-era self-propelled howitzers had shells set up to explode in the air and scatter leaflets over Ukrainian-controlled territory, according to Zvezda, a Russian state-owned nationwide TV network run by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“We give the last warning to the Ukrainian Nazis to surrender,” an artilleryman named Vadim told the station.

More recently, the Russians announced that its drone operators were sending SMS messages to Ukrainian mobile phone subscribers telling them to lay down their arms. There’s no evidence Russia’s “text-to-surrender” drones have had any impact.

The Ukrainian campaign has featured both high-tech and low-tech means of communicating. Artillery units routinely use Vampire multiple-launch rocket systems to fire projectiles filled with 1,500 leaflets each across Russian positions.

Hanna Malyar, a Ukrainian deputy minister of defense, said this was one way to give “Russian occupiers one last chance to yield themselves” when there was no internet connection.

“Otherwise, the only thing that awaits them on the Ukrainian land is death,” she said.

Yatsenko, the spokesperson for the prisoner of war group, said that Ukrainians were also giving captured Russian soldiers who are released as part of prisoner of war exchanges e-cards with information about how to surrender. That way, he said, if they are thrown back into the fight they know how to give themselves up.

When Ukraine captures Russian soldiers, it sends them to prisoner of war camps. The main one is in the northwest, near Lviv.

Ukraine has allowed some tightly controlled media visits inside that camp. They also allow routine visits from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The most far-reaching Ukrainian effort is the “I want to live” program, which includes a Telegram channel in Russian that now has more than 40,000 subscribers, mainly in Russia or Russian-controlled territories. Phone operators also work around the clock at an undisclosed location in Kyiv taking up to 100 calls daily, Yatsenko said.

But just as surrendering was considered one of the most dangerous acts on the battlefield of World War I, the same is true in Ukraine today.

With a front line sprawling over hundreds of miles and the lands between the trenches a treacherous wasteland of mines watched over by snipers and subject to near-constant bombardment, arranging a surrender presents dangers for all involved.

That is where drones come in.

The surrender that was caught on the video released in November and geo-located by military analysts to the eastern Donbas region was an accident of sorts, Yatsenko said. It was not planned and the fact that it worked — with all the possible things that could have gone wrong — made the Ukrainian military think that it was an idea that could be expanded on, he said.

The Ukrainian General Staff set about producing a slick video with instructions for how Russian soldiers can surrender to a drone that was ready by early December.

The first step is to call the “I want to live” project and receive instructions and coordinates. “It is important to arrive at the indicated point on time, and wait for the appearance of the quadcopter, after which, raise your hands,” the video informs Russians.

“After the drone shows the vector of movement, the prisoners must follow the drone,” they are told. The drone will fly at “walking speed” and “guide you to Ukrainian positions.”

If the drone’s battery fails, then the soldier must wait for a new one to arrive to continue moving.

Yatsenko said the “how to surrender to a drone” program is only in its infancy. He would not offer precise numbers for Russians who have surrendered to drones so far, but said it was more than a handful.

The Ukrainian program, Yatsenko said, is the first one designed to use drones on a broad scale as part of a coordinated operation to encourage surrender.

“We are giving them a last chance to save their life,” he said.

During the day of 19 December, on the 299th day of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Ukrainian fighters carried out 17 airstrikes against the Russian military, shot down 2 helicopters, hit an ammunition storage point, 2 command posts and 2 clusters of Russian military personnel.

Details: As the General Staff states, during the day the Russian launched an airstrike and carried out 10 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems. In addition, the occupiers deployed 28 Iranian-made Shahed-136 attack UAVs, out of which 23 were shot down by Ukraine’s Armed Forces. Civilian infrastructure and population were affected as a result of Russian attacks.

During the day, Ukraine’s Air Force delivered 12 strikes on clusters of Russian military personnel and equipment and 5 strikes on the positions of the invaders' anti-aircraft missile systems.

On 19 December, Air Defence Forces shot down two Russian helicopters. Information about their models is currently being clarified.

During the day, Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery units struck an ammunition dump, two command posts and two clusters of Russian military personnel.

In the previous days, an ammunition storage point, about 15 units of military equipment of various types were destroyed, and more than 150 servicemen of the Russian occupation forces were injured in the areas of the cities of Berdiansk, Tokmak and Polohy, Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Due to the significant losses of the invaders, the repurposing of hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk Oblast into military hospitals continues.

Thus, Luhansk Oblast Hospital, Luhansk City Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 15 and the Railway Hospital were handed over for use by the Russian occupation forces. The local population is refused service and suggested turning to other medical institutions.

The situation on the different fronts:

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts; there is no evidence that Russian forces are forming new offensive task forces.

On the Slobozhanshchyna front, the Russians deployed artillery to fire on Ukrainian positions in the areas of the settlements of Strilecha, Hlyboke, Vovchansk and Dvorichna in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, the invaders fired on areas in and around settlements of Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne, Berestove in Kharkiv Oblast; Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Chervonopopivka and Dibrova in Luhansk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts, the Russians continue to conduct assault operations; deployed tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery to fire on Ukrainian positions in the areas of 25 settlements, including Verkhnokamianske, Berestove, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Hryhorivka, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdiumivka, Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, the occupiers continue shelling from artillery of all types the areas of the settlements of Temyrivka, Chervone, Mali Shcherbaky and Plavni in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and the city of Kherson, where civilian infrastructure and people were again affected.

According to the verse John (14:6) you quoted: Nobody is telling you they don't believe in Jesus. Nigeria is the only country in the world that sees electricity as not important. What I expected to see in these achievement is the investment of Lagos State in electricity generation. Lagos needs At least 500 megawatt of electricity for it to join the committee of advance cities. I have been confused on what to do with the money I have saved. I am a contract staff in one of the banks and I have saved considerable amount of money over the years I have been working there. But I am tired of my job, as same as many of my colleagues who wish they had one quarter of the money I had saved to quit the job.

I am not a lazy man I am very hardworking as adhuged by my supervisors but the issue is I have stayed on one spot for too long and no promotion. My greatest joy is that I was able to achieve a masters degree in a federal university in nigeria while working but my job doesn't give me time to even look out for other jobs.
So please guys I am throwing this up here because I know on this thread there are people who have been in my situation before that made the better choice and are happy for it.
I have two very important decisions to make either to use the money I have saved to travel abroad for school for masters and hopfully settle down there or to stay here in Nigeria to start up a pure water production factory but Nigeria and it's uncertainties keeps discouraging me. kindly note that I have saved up to 9million naira to take up any of these ventures and I am 35 years not yet married.
Please I need honest advice to a brother there are some persons like me who will benefit from this advice we render.

Everything cost less than 500k and you still have like 8.5 million naira to enjoy your life there. My dear you have a huge life in front of you in Canada. With your experience you won't wait for long to get a job there. This is a huge opportunity for you don't waste it. I am talking to you from experience. Peace

Two weeks ago, I bought a bottle of chilled Coca-Cola drink from a vendor in festac took a long sip. After a while I noticed a strange object in the bottle, I took a long observatory look, I discovered it was a cobweb, because the object was brownish in colour makes it difficult t :oo notice initially. I am appalled by the level at which hygiene has dropped for these companies that suppose to be multinational in Nigeria. Please folks when you're drinking these soft drinks one need to be vigilant. It seems they don't watch there bottles any more. Apparently NAFDAC has gone to sleep. No Government Agency is monitoring them anymore. Like a former president said we are all in God's hands. Just yesterday I took a bottled pepsi, it was like, I took ordinary water and sugar. The vendor said she bought it directly from the company. Please be wary of :othese products, health is wealth. They are taken full advantage from the loopholes created by ineffective Governance in the country.

This so called national grid needs to be abolished. It doesn't take you to be a genius to know these. When APC was campaigning tallking about chanje what do they think it is. Fashola suppose to know that national grid is the bane of our power problems. I expected APC being a party of elite as they claim to be suppose to have push for power reform by now. A state like Lagos needs to generate its own electricity, to be able to be ushered into the 21st century, like the rest of the modern mega cities of the world.

The hate for the Igbos, (ofcourse, anyone from the SS/SE is considered Igbo), is unconnected to the fact that Igbos parade such modern cities as Enugu, Owerri, Onitsha, Aba, and by their mass limited knowledge of the SS/SE, Uyo, Port-Harcourt, Calabar, Eket, Brass, Benin and Yenogua, yet they consider that after owning these towns, Igbos still come and invade Lagos, buying over the pricest real estates and erecting massive estates and 'enjoying'. I have witnessed a case at Lekki Phase 1, where a Yoruba man refused to sell a plot of Land for a friend for 100 million Naira because he is Igbo but sold to another for just 80 million because he is a fellow Yoruba man. That is how foolish tribalism has made us.

Lest we forget, Lagos, was developed by the Federal Government, and is continually developed by the Investment of Igbos and other investors from other tribes including Yorubas who stop at nothing in real estate development and landscape designs. I do not think we the people generally referred to as Omo Igbo will EVER vacate Lagos due to threats. Our only reaction will be to draw more resources and buy more properties here and bring more of our brothers. We will vote for any candidate of our choice and we will remain a greater infuence in this NO-MAN'S LAND, until such a time the Federal Government will abrogate the State of Origin and State of Birth Dichotomy.
