Food / Kinds Of Concoction Food You Ate Or Cooked In School? by remecy(f): 8:53pm On Jul 03, 2013
We all come from different backgrounds and there are some food that originally we would not eat at home.but however, in school there are times called INJURY TIME.where there is no food available and no money to purchase either towards the end of the Section(exam time).
During these time, you see students preparing pure junk just to survive. Which of those junk or concoction did you prepare or eat?

arbitrage: simple, go into any store where you see the packaged product you like, like the semovita you mentioned. then copy the address of the manufacturer written on the package and visit the factory. i am almost sure they will help you with the information of the company that handles their packaging. i know there used to be some packaging companies around agbara along badagry expressway axis.
Thanks. I have checked thru some packaging but only have the branded cop address on it. Thank you.

BASED ON THIS YOUR POST IS LIKELY YOU MIGHT BE THINKING OF LEAVING YOUR PARTNER\MATRIMONIAL HOME(thats if you re married to a regular partne) AND IF YOU RE STILL SINGLE; BE CAREFUL BECAUSE I-TOO-KNOW IS NOT A HEALTHY KIND OF CHARACTER. IT WILL LEAD YOU ONLY TO A FANTACY WORLD.

Nairaland / General / Seven Things Never To Buy New by remecy(f): 3:11pm On Jul 02, 2013
It pays to buy secondhand, and we’re a country that knows it! We spend about $13 billion a year on used goods and likely save billions more in the process. So, to keep more cash in your pocket, here are seven items never to buy new.

Cars

Auto experts at Edmunds.com say the second you drive a brand new car off the lot it loses roughly 11% of its value. And it continues to depreciate between 15% and 25% each year for the first five years. For a better value, opt for a certified pre-owned vehicle. For example, a great condition 2010 Chevy Malibu Sedan goes for about $16,000, while the 2013 model costs roughly $25,000, according to Edmunds.com’s True Market Value calculator.

Designer Clothes

Frugal fashionistas know you don’t have to always buy new to look like a million bucks, thanks to high-end consignment shops found online and off. Find designer brands you love — but can’t afford at full price — for up to 70% off at sites like SnobSwap, Karma Couture and even eBay. We found a silk Prada dress that sells new for $750, but is available previously-owned at Karma Couture for $500 less.

Jewelry

Although it may be rich in sentimental value, fine jewelry can lose as much as 10% of its purchase price in the first year of ownership, partly due to hefty markups. Watches depreciate more slowly, at about 5% per year. So if you’re looking for new bauble to add to your jewelry collection, you’ll get a bigger bang for your buck at estate sales, pawnshops and online retailers.

Recreational Equipment

From boats to campers and RVs to jet skis, the original price of sporting equipment doesn’t hold up well when you try to unload it. According to the PowerBoat Buyer’s Guide, boats and yachts can depreciate up to 50% in the first five years of ownership.

Exercise Gear

Pricey items such as treadmills and road bikes can be found at steep discounts when bought previously owned. A Trek 1.2 aluminum bike sells new for nearly $1,000, but a 2010 model is going for just $455 on eBay. Another tip: bike shops that rent gear to racers will sell the previous year’s models for as low as $200 to make room for new inventory.

Books, DVDs, Video Games

With secondhand books, DVDs and video games available everywhere from Amazon Marketplace to eBay to your local thrift store, it doesn’t make sense to pay a dime more than necessary. For example, Dan Brown’s latest novel, Inferno, retails for $30, but it’s already going for as little as 10 bucks online.

Musical Instruments

Finally, if your child is taking up an instrument, we found a violin on eBay for less than $40 with excellent reviews from the seller. A similar instrument retails for $300 at a music shop.

Family / Reasons Why Your Child Should Not Skip Breakfast by remecy(f): 12:28pm On Jul 02, 2013
Do you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? A good breakfast provides the nutrients that people need to start their day off right.

Studies show that children who eat a good breakfast do better in school than children who do not.

Studies also show a link between participation in the School Breakfast Program and improved academic performance and psycho – social behaviour.

Children who eat a good breakfast tend to perform better in school, and have a better attendance and decreased hyperactivity. Children who don’t eat breakfast tend to perform not as well, and also tend to have behaviour problems such as fighting, stealing, and not listening to their teachers (Dr. Ronald Kleinman, Harvard Medical School).
Some school provides breakfast program by giving nutritious meal to children who might otherwise not eat breakfast, and is designed to provide children with one-fourth of their daily nutrients. This program offers fruit, cold cereal and milk daily

If your child eats breakfast at home, choose a breakfast with milk, fruit and cereal(grain product). These three foods can provide for a good breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast does not need to take a lot of time.

Family / Wrong Reasons Why People Marry by remecy(f): 12:18pm On Jul 02, 2013
Marriage is school for two person where you never graduate from. Admission into the great institue should not include any of the list below PLEASE.

1. Good food. – Sorry, you don’t need a wife to eat good food. House-help or fast food can help.

2. sex – This is part of reason for marriage but should not be the only reason.

3. Solution partner – It is true that you need someone you can pour your heart to at all time. But you need to know that the other person also needs your care. If all you want is only yourself to be heard without considering the other person, then what you need is a counsellor, not a husband or wife.

4. Beauty – Never marry because someone is beautiful or handsome! Beauty fades. Simplicity is the key, however you must be attracted to the person.

5. Money – You may have financial need but marrying someone just because he/she is rich won’t sustain the marriage

6. Pressure -
“I am getting old”, “My friends are all married”, “My family are complaining” – These and many more are the excuses some people marry!. But remember that you are the one that will live with that spouse and not your parents or friends.

7. Spirituality – “He speaks in tongues”, “He attend church regularly!”, we know them by their fruits and not by their being religious.

8. Conversion – I will change him/her after marriage. 99% chances are that he/she will not change after marriage if they didn’t change before marriage.

9. Fantasy – Some just get married because others are married and they don’t want to be left out.

10. Low Self Esteem – Some people feel they would not get someone to marry them, else they quickly rush in with anyone that comes their way, not knowing them to an extent.

Family / 10 Odd Wedding Rituals Of All Times by remecy(f): 11:22am On Jul 01, 2013
1)The tradition of not allowing the newlyweds to use the bathroom for 3 days.

Well, this one can get painful and ugly. Members of the Tidong community in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia do not allow newlyweds to go to the bathroom for 3 days and 3 nights. If they do, they will have bad luck, apparently. Bad luck may come in the form of a broken union, the death of children, or even infertility. The couple is starved and given little water.

2) The ritual of marrying animals to exorcise ghosts.

In some parts of India it is believed that if a baby girl has a tooth rooted to her upper gum, it’s the obvious sign that she will be eaten by a tiger or something in the near future, because ghosts hate her. Therefore, she must marry an animal. The good news is that this is nothing but a mock ceremony and the couple don’t have to consummate the wedding. It’s just to ward off the evil spirits so the girl can marry a real boy some time later.

3)The ritual where guests pay to dance with the bride.

This Polish tradition involves all of wedding guests, the bride, dancing, money and an apron. At the wedding reception, the bride will dance with her father, while a relative holds out an apron. Guests who place money in the apron win the opportunity to dance with the bride. After a time, the groom will throw in his wallet, thus surpassing all the other contributions. He will then whisk away his new wife on their honeymoon.

4) The brides who wear rings on their toes instead of fingers.

Whereas most jewelry exchanged at weddings involves placing rings on fingers, Hindu brides use the Bichiya, which is the tradition of wearing their wedding rings on their feet. The ring is usually silver and placed on a woman’s left foot, specifically on her great toe (which is next to the big toe). The groom slips the ring on the bride’s foot during the ceremony, and these rings are only worn by married women.

5)The ritual of smashing dishes.

The origin of this tradition is unknown, but it’s thought that the cacophonous sounds caused by the smashing of the cookery represent the inevitable future disturbances that the couple will face throughout their married lives. By breaking the dishes beforehand, the community is preparing the couple for the obstacles ahead and simultaneously wishing them luck.

6) The practice of kidnapping brides.

Bride kidnapping, also known as marriage by abduction or marriage by capture, is a practice throughout history and around the world in which a man abducts the woman he wishes to marry. It’s said that bride kidnapping still occurs in some cultures like the Romani, also known as Gypsies. If you manage to forcefully kidnap a girl and keep her by your side for 2-3 days, she officially becomes your wife. Pretty crazy, right?

7)The ritual of blackening the bride.

It’s part of a hazing ritual that actually happens before the wedding. The bride is taken by surprise, by hands down the crummiest friends you could have, and covered from head to toe with foul substances such as eggs, various sauces, feathers, and, well, you name it….The ritual of covering brides and grooms in treacle, soot and flour used to be carried out to ward off evil spirits. It still happens in parts of Scotland.

coolThe ritual where grooms jumps over a broom.

Jumping the broom is a time-honored wedding tradition in which the bride and groom jump over a broom during the ceremony. The act symbolizes a new beginning and a sweeping away of the past, and can also signify the joining of two families or offer a respectful nod to family ancestors.

9) The ritual of beating the groom’s feet.

Most men look forward to the conclusion of their weddings, but in South Korea the groom has to endure a beating before he can retire with his bride. After the wedding ceremony, friends of the groom take off his socks, tie a rope around the ankles, and start beating the soles of his feet with dried yellow corvina. Yellow corvina is a kind of fish! It is done to make the groom stronger before the first wedding night.
Celebrities / Rapper Turned Singer T-pain, Says He’s Not Going To Try Buying A Gift Kanye' Ba by remecy(f): 10:32am On Jul 01, 2013
Auto-tune specialist T-Pain has strangely come out of the blue to say there is now way he is getting a gift for the newest Hollywood baby – North West. T-Pain’s reason for this is as honest as anybody can get, he says;

“Kanye is much richer than me so I’m not even going to try [getting him and Kim Kardashian a gift],” T-Pain admitted to Us Weekly. “Kanye has no couth when it comes to things like that, so when you bring him something, he’d be like, ‘What the f–k is this?’”

Foreign Affairs / Archbishop Prays For Mandela’s Peaceful End by remecy(f): 1:32pm On Jun 26, 2013
JOHANNESBURG (AFP) – Nelson Mandela’s close family on Tuesday gathered to hear a sombre prayer wishing the anti-apartheid icon a “peaceful, perfect, end” as he lay in hospital in a critical condition with life seemingly slipping away.
Cape Town Archbishop Thabo Makgoba visited Pretoria’s Mediclinic Heart Hospital to pray with wife Graca Machel “at this hard time of watching and waiting.”
Mandela, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, who spent 27 years behind bars for his struggle under white minority rule and went on to become South Africa’s first black president, was admitted on June 8 with a recurrent lung infection.
During a 19 day vigil his family, and the world, have watched on as the 94-year-old slipped from a stable to a critical condition.
Many now fear for the man who, in defeating apartheid, bent the arc of history toward his will and lit a fire that shone for millions across the world.

Mandela: Archbishop prays for peaceful end
The archbishop’s prayer seemed to echo a growing feeling of inevitability about Mandela’s condition that is increasingly voiced by South Africans, to whom he remains a moral giant, even though he stepped back from public life a decade ago.
“May (we) be filled with gratitude for all the good that he has done for us and for our nation, and may (we) honour his legacy through our lives,” the prayer read.
“Grant Madiba eternal healing and relief from pain and suffering.”
“Grant him, we pray, a quiet night and a peaceful, perfect, end.”
Outside the hospital in Pretoria flowers and messages of support piled up as a growing crowd sang hymns.
“I’m here because of Tata (father) Mandela,” said 38-year-old Tolly Mogane, one of generation who Mandela led from the darkness of racist rule to democracy.
“Today I’m free, nobody is going to tell me to go home.”

A well wisher (L) wipes a tear during a candle lit vigil outside the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria where a community group prayed and sang religious songs in support of Nelson Mandela who is receiving treatment there, on June 25, 2013
As South Africans have become resigned to Mandela’s mortality, his role in shaping their nation has come into sharper focus.
“Mr. Mandela set the example,” said Rosemarie van Staden, who was handing out muffins to well wishers. “He wanted us to be a rainbow nation and we really must carry on.”
Meanwhile members of Mandela’s extended family huddled at his rural homestead to discuss the days to come.
One of Mandela’s daughters and at least two grandchildren were seen gathering for a meeting in the village of Qunu, where the charismatic former leader spent his childhood tending cattle and living in mud-walled huts.
The meeting was called “to discuss delicate matters,” amid speculation that the location of his eventual grave was on the agenda.
Tensions emerged between elder clan members and Mandela’s grandchildren during the talks, according to sources close to the family, although it was unclear exactly why.
President Jacob Zuma called on South Africans to respect the Mandela family’s “dignity and privacy”.
Meanwhile messages of goodwill flooded in from overseas.
Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai described the iconic figure as “an inspiration”.
The White House said it was monitoring Mandela’s condition but could not yet say whether his ill health would affect a planned visit by US President Barack Obama to South Africa from Friday as part of a tour of Africa.
In any case, Obama is unlikely to see Mandela as he is “indisposed”, South Africa’s international relations minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane said.
Mandela — who is due to celebrate his 95th birthday on July 18 — has been hospitalised four times since December.
Upon his release from jail in 1990 in one of the defining moments of the 20th century, Mandela negotiated an end to apartheid and won the country’s first fully democratic elections.
He served a single term as president, guiding the country away from internecine racial and tribal violence, before taking up a new role as a roving elder statesman and leading AIDS campaigner.
He stepped back from public life in 2004.
The South African government has been criticised following revelations that the military ambulance that carried Mandela to hospital developed engine trouble, resulting in a 40-minute delay until a replacement vehicle arrived.
The presidency said Mandela suffered no harm during the wait for another ambulance to take him from his Johannesburg home to a specialist heart clinic in Pretoria 55 kilometres (30 miles) away.

Family / Brothers Arraigned For Renting Out Room&parlour To 100 Tenants In Lagos by remecy(f): 1:15pm On Jun 26, 2013
Posted by: niyi on June 25, 2013

Two brothers have been charged before Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding more than 100 prospective tenants of over N2 million in Idimu, Lagos State.
Idowu Usman, 40, and Rasheed Usman, 38, allegedly used a room and parlour apartment located at 9, Adetayo Street, Idimu, Lagos to defraud prospective tenants under false pretence of renting the apartment to them.
When they were arraigned in court, the suspects admitted obtaining the money under false pretence and pleaded guilty to a 13-count charge.
The police at Area M Command, Idimu arrested the brothers when a fight broke out among their victims when they wanted to take possession of the apartment.
According to some of the victims who were present during the court proceeding, it was after they paid for the accommodation and when they wanted to move in that they discovered that more than 100 prospective tenants had also paid for the same apartment, alleging that all of them paid over N2 million to the brothers for the apartment.
Some of their alleged victims are Uche Eze, David Nwachukwu, Emmanuel Enyia and Michael Job.
Nwachukwu narrated in court that he saw an advert that the room and parlour appartment was for rent and when he contacted the suspects, they lured him to pay for one-year rent in line with the state government tenancy law.
He said he did not suspect foul play until when he went to the house and met more than 10 people who wanted to occupy the same apartment.
Another victim, Job, said he fell for their trick when the suspects asked him to pay N120,000 for one year with an agreement fee, which he did. But it was when he went to clean up the place and saw people fighting over the apartment that he realized that he had been duped by the brothers.
Job said it was during the fracas that the police at Area M Command, Idimu were contacted.
The suspects were subsequently arrested after several complaints by the victims who alleged that they paid the brothers for the same apartment.
The brothers were arraigned before the court on a 25-count charge of obtaining and stealing under the Criminal Code.
They pleaded guilty from count one to 13 of obtaining under false pretence and pleaded not guilty of count 14 to 25 of stealing.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs M. B. Folami granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 1 July, while the suspects were remanded in prison pending when they will fulfill their bail conditions. [PM News]

1-She is older than President Goodluck Jonathan. Okay, calm down, not what you are thinking. She was born in Port Harcourt on the 25th October 1957 while the don himself was born on 20th November, 1957. Ok, just like a month.
2. She holds a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Mathematics & Biology from the Rivers State College of Education and later bagged a degree from University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) in Biology & Psychology. She passed WASSCE in 1980, long before many of her haters were born. Ok, no lele. Let’s ride on.
3. Although she started out as a teacher at Stella Maris College in Port Harcourt (HajMari, where are you o?), she later veered briefly into the banking sector, establishing Akpo Community Bank in 1997, the first of its kind in Port Harcourt, and later served as the Marketing Manager of Imieto Community Bank.
4. According to Baridah Job Karabah, a former houseboy, her nickname back in the days was ‘Mama Ice Cream’ (and that of the President was simply ‘Oga Joe’ ). Ice cream ke? Yes, and that was because she used to cool (abi na freeze…lol) ice cream in her large deep freezers. The ice cream is then later distributed for sale. He says business was ‘booming’ for her then. President Jonathan was at that time, a senior lecturer at the Rivers State College of Education. And yes, she had a poultry too at the same time. Quite industrious I’d say.
5. In September 2012, she was awarded a honorary degree by the Delta State University, Abraka despite the fact that she was not in the country at that time. She was said to have gone to Germany but she denied going there for any treatment. Worefa.
6. She hails from Oba-Ama Community in Okrika, a port town in Rivers State. It is known as a base for the sale of second-hand clothes, and the name Okrika for those of us very familiar with ‘Bend Down Select’ and ‘Tokunbo’ clothes is an attestation to that. Omo, I can never forget the delightful smell of Okrika clothes…lol! The belief then, and even maybe now is that they are even better than ‘original’ and brand new clothes. Next!
7. Her maiden name is OBA. As in, she was once Miss Patience Oba.
8. Miss Oba later met her lecturer while she was a student at the Rivers State College of Education (now Rivers State University of Education, Rumuolumeni). Her lecturer then was with the Department of Biological Sciences (he taught her biology, oh, I love that course die! Don’t ask me why!), and one thing led to the other, they both fell in love. Today, the rest is history and that Mr. Lecturer of yesterday now rules the most populous black nation on earth. You still don’t know him? Go get yourself a black fedora hat! Hear her:
”We first met at the Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt where I was a student. He was my Biology lecturer.Later; he left for university of Port Harcourt to pursue his PhD.
We met again at the University of Port Harcourt when I went for undergraduate degree. That was where our relationship began. He took interest in me because I was a brilliant and smart student.
It was love at first sight on his part. But it never crossed my mind that it would lead to a serious relationship. My first impression of him was ‘this tall, dark, hansome young man”.
Further interaction with him also revealed that he came from a good Christian home just like I did. His humble and gentle disposition caught my attention and most importantly, his intelligence.”
9. She says she still cooks for her husband and even goes to Utako Market (Abuja people, wey una dey?) to buy ingredients for soup. O ga ju!
10. Her hobbies? You bet! Reading, writing, travelling and oh yeah, swimming!
11. She holds many traditional titles, some of which are:
-Odadigba of Otuoke Kingdom, meaning the Ladder of Success.
-Unume Wheshi Ekpeye 1 of Ekpeye Kingdom in Rivers State.
-Yeye Obateru of Owu Kingdom, Ogun State, means the Wife of He Who Shares the King’s Burden.
-Yeye Ohun Orun of the Source of Ife Kingdom, Osun State, meaning the Wife of the Voice of the Heavens.
-Ada Di Oha Mma of Ukpo Kingdom (Daughter of the People of Ukpo). Okay, I think that is enough for now. Nigerians and titles sha.
12. She bears the title ‘Dame’ as she was honoured with the Knighthood of the Anglican Church.
13. Her marriage with the President is blessed with two children: a cheeky boy, Ariwera Adolphus Jonathan and a beautiful girl, Aruabi Jonathan. Click the link below to see all pictures.
14. Like others before her, she also has a non-governmental organization, named the A. Aruera Reachout Foundation and is said to focus on the needy, the poor and the destitute, with particular emphasis on women and children. According to the Foundation, it has trained over 2,000 women in the last eight years. Some of the things her Foundation also did was to foot the N1.8 million naira bill for an operation in India for a girl with a hole in the heart (septal defect) and Jubril Mohammed Hussein, a 9-year-old boy who was also flown out for treatment for his heart disease. Zainab Musa Garba, a twin, was diagnosed with a heart condition and needed N3 million naira for treatment, the Dame also footed her bills. Zainab’s mother teaches at the Federal Government College, Maiduguri while the dad is a retired civil servant. That’s a good one or what do you think? Same goes for Tobi Peters, an 11-year-old boy, three-month-old Peculiar Owodu and others (now over 30 kids). You can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ADN7iGqzb6s
Well, I had to point that out because Nigerians seem to be carried away by her speeches as if we are all professors of English ourselves. By the way, I am assuming that her Foundation derived its name from her two kids: ARU-abi and Ariw-ERA. At any rate, it’s an assumption.
15. She is currently engaged in a tussle with the former First Lady, Turai Yar’adua over a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory. That’s what I call the vanity of power and inanity of authority. By the way, I promise to tell you the meaning of her middle name ‘Faka’ once I get it. I’ve been trying to, but nothing yet.

Crime / Yahoo-yahoo-22 Year Old Student Arrested For Cyber Fraud by remecy(f): 9:39am On Jun 26, 2013
A 22-year-old student of Imo State University, Chibuzor Akobundu, has been arrested by operatives of Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, for allegedly swindling foreign women to the tune of $48,000 through a dating website.

Speaking with journalists yesterday, while being paraded alongside two staff of a second generation bank, who allegedly facilitated the withdrawal of money via Western Union Money Transfer, the suspect in his final year in school said he adopted Devon Miles as his name and posted a photograph of an unknown American citizen as his profile on the dating site.

He confessed to have swindled five American single women within the ages of 40 and 50, in search for husbands.

He gave the name of his first victim as Antoinette. He promised to marry her and was able to dupe her of $16,000 before she suspected he was a fraudster.

Others were Jettie Simpson, who reportedly sent $5,000; Shelly Bashir, $100; Billie Klock, $13,000, in a relationship that reportedly lasted for five months, and Andrea Desena, $8,000.

“I started browsing the dating site three years ago, posing as a US citizen residing in Nigeria.

“At that time, it was a common game around my area in Ikeja. Along the line I met these ladies who were looking for husbands.

“They fell in love with me because of my profile, where I stated that I was a 49-year-old divorcee in search of a wife. I claimed to be an engineer.

“I would tell them I was stranded in Nigeria and needed some money to travel back to US and they would send the money via Western Union.

“At other times, I would tell them that my daughter was sick and that I needed money to offset her hospital bill and they would fall for the trick. I have never used charm to hypnotise any of them.

“My parents were never aware of what I was into because anytime I got a reasonable amount, I would travel to South Africa and squander the money.

“My regret is that I never used the money for anything tangible, to avoid suspicion. My mum is a teacher, while my father is a businessman and have been responsible for the payment of my school fees.”

Spokesperson for SFU, Ngozi Insitume-Agu, while explaining how Akobundu was arrested, said: “The arrest followed a petition via the Unit’s website from one Amelia Brosick, a US citizen, dated April 16, 2013, where she alleged that one Devon Miles, suspected to be a Nigerian, defrauded her to the tune of $16,439 using different tactics.

“She added that she met the suspect on a dating site in June 2012, and the suspect, under the guise of dating her for the purpose of marriage, obtained the alleged sum fraudulently through Western Union.

“Armed with the petition, Western Union was contacted and they sent a detailed spread sheet showing all the transfers in the name of the suspect.

“Following the information, the duo of Nnamdi Nwakwue Dike and Olawale Oguniran attached to Western Union in Skye Bank, Owerri and Allen Avenue, Ikeja, branches, respectively, were arrested.

“Their revealing statements led to the arrest of the serial internet fraudster, Chibuzor Akobundun also known as Devon Miles, Martin Williams and Sani Bala Ismaila. He adopted Devon as the internet name, but opened the account in the name of Martin Williams.

“He confessed that he provided the bank staff with the photocopy of his identity card so that they could withdraw the monies, while he gave them some percentage.

“The bank staff also confessed that they used Uche’s particulars to withdraw money from other persons’ accounts without his knowledge.”

However, Dike of the Owerri branch denied knowledge of what Akobundun was into. He maintained that he was only doing his job as a front-line teller staff of the bank, adding that he had never at any time paid Akobundu above the stipulated amount.
“Anytime he came to collect the money, he would answer the question given correctly, including the secret code.

“Mine is to ascertain whether the details corresponded with what was in the system at the end of which I would hand his money over to him,” Dike said.

Asked if he received any gratification from Akobundu, he said he was given tips of N1,000 or N2,000 at times, just like some other bank customers do.

Family / Photo-Woman (30) Gives Birth To A Tortoise After Being Pregnant For 10 Months by remecy(f): 2:07pm On Jun 25, 2013
A tradomedical practitioner in Lagos has claimed that a 30-year old woman delivered a tortoise and a baby girl in his clinic.

The woman, Rasheedat Raimi, said she had carried the pregnancy for 10 months before she eventually delivered the baby girl and the tortoise at a trado-medical clinic on Mutairu Street, Off Ijegun Road, outskirts of Lagos. She was in pains as she talked to P.M.NEWS about the strange delivery.

“I came to Yakafi for prayers because of the terrible pains I was having in my stomach. Immediately I got here, prayers were offered and immediately there was a burst of water and blood under me. The tortoise came out with the placenta and the baby came out later. I couldn’t believe my eyes, but I was very weak. I was happy the pain left me. I felt relieved after the delivery. I thank God,” she told P.M.NEWS slowly.

On whether she attended ante-natal clinic before the delivery, the young woman said: “I carried the pregnancy for 10 months. I did scans several times and nobody told me that I was carrying tortoise in my womb. What they always told me was that I am alright and would deliver at the right time,” she added.
“This is amazing, but true. She did not register with my clinic for ante-natal. When she came here with her people, she was in pains, we didn’t know she will deliver here. She only came here for Tahajjud prayers (night vigil). We were praying when suddenly she started wriggling. She was in pains.

“I touched her stomach and observed something strange moving inside her. It was a strange thing. I thought it was a lizard but it turned out to be a tortoise. The tortoise tore the placenta into pieces and came out. The baby came out afterwards.

“She fainted after the delivery and we had to revive her with prayers. This is what God can do. She had several scans but nobody told her that she was carrying a tortoise in her womb. God is great,” he declared.

Ladies and Gents, Our technology can not see evil spiritual matters(works). Only God can deliver you when on this position. So, stop relying on technology but God. I hope this story has convinced you. It is well.

Politics / Security Man Breaks ATM, Steals N12m by remecy(f): 1:25pm On Jun 25, 2013
A security man and employee of First Bank Nigeria Plc, Jibowu Branch, Seyi Jaiyeola, is standing trial at a magistrate’s court in Ebute Meta for allegedly breaking the company’s automated teller machine and stealing a sum of N12, 533,900.

The bank’s branch Service Manager, Mr. Kayode Aiyewunmi, who gave evidence in court, said Jaiyeola was on a N20, 000 monthly pay and was a member of the Odua People’s Congress.

He said the company had observed that one of the bank’s four ATMs was having a reconciliation problem and had employed the service of an expert to help unravel mysterious disappearances of money.

Aiyewunmi said, “We discovered that there was always a shortage of cash in the machine.

“Despite our reconciliation efforts, the ATM was still having problems and we engaged the service of an expert who submitted his report and said the machine did not have any reconciliation issue.

“He said somebody was breaking into the machine in the middle of the night to steal the cash.

“I reported the matter to my boss, who said I should conduct an investigation into the matter. “When the last breakage happened, we went to play back the branch’s CCTV, and we now saw Jaiyeola in the middle of the night, opening the window at the back of my office. There’s a control panel which controls the security door, which he touched. So, the CCTV stopped.”

He said it was at that point the company concluded he was the brain behind the theft.

He said after the matter was reported at the Onipanu Police station, and the accused was arrested, he led them to his house, where he allegedly confessed to the crime.

Aiyewunmi said, “When we got to his house for a search, we recovered N243,945 cash. The police then asked him what else he did with the money. He said he bought a car, which was parked at the house there, a Toyota Corolla. Then we recovered a new generator. He also took the police to the building he was constructing which was near completion.” He said after recovering the item, First Bank transferred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

Jaiyeola was arraigned on a five counts of fraud and stealing and was subsequently granted bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

The prosecution counsel, Mr. Ishola Samuel, asked for an adjournment to help source some legal citations.

The magistrate, Mrs. M.O Tanimola, adjourned the matter till July 15.
Entertainment / My Baby Has Turned Me Into A Celebrity – OAU Undergraduate Mother with PIX by remecy(f): 1:13pm On Jun 25, 2013
22-year-old student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state who was rumoured to flush her baby inside one of the toilets in her hostel after giving birth narrates what actually went down.

When the news first broke, a lot of people vilified her. It was reported that she wanted to get rid of what many would describe as a bundle of joy.

People thus wondered why a 22-year-old undergraduate would try to flush away her baby in one of the toilets in Moremi Hall, her hall of residence at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Without clarifying the circumstances that led to the delivery in the toilet, they went on to social media networks, putting on trial Miss Oyinlola Rotimi, the 400-Level student of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology at OAU, who delivered a baby boy on Wednesday.

While the news went round the campus, the traumatised young mother was hurriedly taken to the institution’s Health Centre by two cleaners, Mrs. Shipebi Grace and Mrs. Cecilia Ologbenla. The social media was further flooded with stories that Oyinlola wanted to kill her baby. The OAU management investigated the matter and found out it was not true. Rotimi, who was discharged from the hospital on Friday, has also narrated her own side of the story.

In spite of the trauma she had passed through since last Wednesday, the student, a native of Ijabe, a border town between Osun and Kwara states, says she is happy that the embarrassment she received from the controversy that surrounded the birth of her baby has turned into a blessing for her.

She says the baby’s birth has made her more popular and important in the society.

“Why would I flush or kill my baby after going through the pains of carrying him for about good nine months? I am not heartless and I thank God for my life and the safe delivery. I know God has the best plan for me and my baby. I seriously appreciate the cleaners for their assistance because I got here (health centre) before I understood everything that happened to me.

I am happy that I am alive and my baby is alive too. I’m also using this opportunity to thank the VC, the doctors and nurses, my lecturers and everybody because they all stood by me. They all became my father, my mother and everything to me.

“Right now, I can call myself a celebrity and definitely I’m going to be greater than a celebrity. My baby too is going to be great.

Look at the circumstance that surrounds his birth, just some days old, he is already all over in the news around the world and everybody is happy to see him or hear about his story. He will surely go beyond where I am now. He has turned me into a kind of celebrity. ”

Circumstances surrounding the baby’s birth

“I was purging all through the night and I had no idea of what labour pain was all about. Actually, I was feeling pressed, I can’t call it a labour pain because I was visiting the toilet all through the night till that morning. I just went to the toilet to go and purge when I noticed something just came out of me which I found out was the baby. The baby entered the closet. I was just there shouting, bleeding and people who saw the blood came out to help me alongside the baby.

“I was really scared! I was not expecting a baby. I went to the toilet but seeing a baby was terrifying because I was not expecting him or her to come out yet. It is absolutely not true that I took to my heels when people came to help me.

It happened in Moremi Hall toilet and the toilet is a public one where everybody takes their bath, fetch water and clean up. So, some people were around fetching water, having their bath as usual, while I was in the toilet planning to defecate. My friend called the cleaner for help because she was an elderly woman. I was very scared and people around too couldn’t help because we are all young female students. The cleaner later helped to carry the baby out and brought it to the Health Centre along with me.”

“I will continue to keep him more handsome, healthier and nurture him to attain greater height in life. But what he will become later in life is not for me to decide but he will definitely become what God wants him to become. I will just try to train him in God’s way and I am sure His (God) plan for his life will be realised.”

According to the institution’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Paul Ogidi, Rotimi thought she had stomach upset instead of labour pains because of the bean cake she took before going to bed.

“She got to campus late at night on Tuesday and it was learnt that she could not immediately get herself something to eat but later resolved to buy beans cake within the campus. After eating the snack, she complained severely of running stomach, urinated and defecated at regular intervals.

“She felt her stomach disorder was caused by the bean cake that she took the previous night – not knowing it was labour pains.”

Authorities of OAU have blamed the improper use of the social media for the allegation that Oyinlola attempted to flush her baby away.
