I’ve fallen in a hotel tub, it was God that saved me.

The hand shower electrocuted me and I was dazed for minutes on the tub.

I called the management later and made sure the room was sealed out until well fixed as another might not be so lucky. It was a high class hotel at Maitama Abuja. God really saved me that day.

Rip to him, I hope the investigation won’t will help reveal the cause of his death.
For the sake of knowledge, is it because of lack of proper fixing by the workman or an electrical fault?

Waoh! It really meant a lot to you. I have unlimited WiFi data at home so I don't really kind of need data. But I know a few people here that would be blown away with 20GB of Data. Throw it open and let people indicate interest. If any of the two guys I know here indicate interest I will let you you know that they have indicated interest and that you can send one or both of them the data. 10GB each if both indicate interest. Otherwise 20GB if only one of them indicates interest

Remi and Osas, over to you
Wooooaaahhh!!! I’m available Osé and I appreciate this 100%.
Programming › Re: I Want To Go Into Tech; What Field Should I Choose? by remi1444: 7:45pm On Jun 03, 2022
DrLevi:
I was quite reluctant to reply to this post because the "which one pays the highest" sounded like greed and greedy people put me off.
But at least you want to hustle legally and earn money instead of crimes and vices and so that should be supported.

Anyway, to your question

Firstly; The highest paid are the Project managers and Tech Lead with decades of experience that work for Fortune 500 tech companies. Switching areas of specialising because one pays more might get you lesser pay as "Years of professional experience" is the golden criteria

Secondly: Since money is the goal, the question shouldn't even be the highest paying. It should be the quicker to getting a paying job. Lower barrier of entry. Because if you are told the highest paying but it take 3 years to get a junior role, can you be that patient?... Exactly

So my personal ranking from lowest barrier to highest:
QA tester
Product manager
UI/UX(product designer)
Web
DevOps/Cloud
Automation
Mobile/Desktop
Game development/3D
Video Editing
IoT and Embedded systems
Drivers

A lot of people might disagree with this list but it was made using certain criteria
1. Hardware requirement. If you don't have a beastly system just forget Mobile and Game/3D... You won't go anywhere(fast). By beastly I mean 16GB Ram, SSD and a good graphic card for Game/3D. Although I started as mobile dev with a 2gb RAM core2duo system, I can tell you it was hell till I got a better system as a gift.
The top 6 can be done on an average computer. So If you can't shell out 200k+ for a computer, your choice is already being made for you.

2. Getting a job: You see those last 2, I doubt there are many Nigerians that work on those full-time. Getting a local job would be hard or even not possible. Hardly will a foreign company send you their hardware to work with remotely and e fit take you years before your first gig
You're more likely to get a job as Web dev, Mobile dev, or UI/UX. Of course, the competition here is rising on a daily basis. So be ready to beat a lot of people to get a job

3. Naturally affinity. I know its about the money, but don't be that Airbender trying to waterbend when you're not the avatar(a genius). What I'm saying is, even if you want the highest paying, if it doesn't want you, it doesn't want you.
Someone who sucks at logic would suck as backend dev and will always be throttled by their inability. Remember, the best make the big bucks not the speciality
So choose an area that resonates with you and what you do best.
If you're a creative with an eye for colour, UI/UX and frontend is perfect
If you prefer logic and architecture, backend or mobile
Automation and processes? DevOps and Automation
Management? Product manager
Nothing will frustrate you in tech than being that fish that wants to climb a tree. Find the ocean and swim with the current

In summary,
how much do you have to invest in hardware?
how long can you patiently learn before the bucks starts flowing? else you find yourself like many devs I know switching stack with every breath they take
what am I good at?
Can I afford to fight off thousands of Nigerians, Indians, Pakistans in this field in a year time?.. Will frustration from rejection mails depress me?

Post the answers to theses questions and the stack chooses you not the other way round

Goodluck man
This PM, is certification a requirement?

Please, accept my heartfelt condolences... your loss is still fresh. Please, give yourself time and try not to be alone as much as possible... may God's healing and comfort flow into your heart.
The same god that caused his mother’s death. The same god who cherry-pick and choose to let death persist even though his mother didn’t commit the original sin?
The same god who decided to watch op cry and laugh because if he had made his mom perfect he’d not be here relieving his experience?

Please you people should stop all this god bullshi.t. That moist isn’t slightly the way y’all try to make him look.
Family › Re: I Am Really Depressed, My Mom's Death Is Killing Me! by remi1444:
OP I can relate with everything you said. Reading your sojourn here seem like I was telling my story the only difference between us is the fact that you’re not the first male child.

For me, my mom was strong and was looking very healthy and we were preparing to go home two days after she died. I bought her rice, she ate 3/4 and i was querying her if she wanted to starve me and she laughed. She asked instructed I give her her phone that she wanted to watch Movies and I few minutes later, my once healthy mother was gasping for air, looking at me while I run down the pathway of ISTH A&E ward yelling at the top of my voice calling out for doctors to help me. My mom died as a result of cardiac arrest.

In all of this, my mom’s god couldn’t do shi.t to stop her from dying. For someone who didn’t miss her daily text ( a JW pamphlet ) even while in a medical addled state one would have expected that an nonexisting god should come through since the said god has dominion over death. At least that’s what a rational, intelligent and productive person should do.

My mom’s death made me start seeing life from a different perspective…

That period was the toughest period of my life, I am grateful to NerdyAboki, he sent me a YouTube playlist. Amaka, my girlfriend too.

I’m trying to get busy and move on but sincerely, the whole: ”time heals” thing in my opinion does work especially when it relates to the death of a loved one. Everyday around 12pm, every 5th day of the month are period no matter how happy I’m, when this time comes, there’s this wave of sadness that envelop me.

Sleep in power Iya Kas. I miss you and I’d miss you more.

The business I work for owns its own data centre. So 99.9% of customers are hosted on the cloud. I have 6 RPis and three odroids so I have enough single-board computers to mess about with.

For SIP proxy, business uses a commercial session border controller. I'm more interested in a full open source solution to play with at home. And Kamailio seems to be the most advanced open source solution available.

And you are so right it's a niche field. I have subtly tried to nudge folks towards that field but a lot of the youngings find it too arcane and are hell bent on beint front end or other devs. So I just let them be
I’d send you a message concerning this Osè. My friend is trying to go into tech. He’s not hungry so he’s looking at a niche like this…

It's open but 100% of the people i've referred have failed so to prevent us from wasting each others time, please let me know: what qualifies you to be a tech writer?
maybe if I share my Hashnode profile. Although I’ve not written much. I have only been documenting what I learnt from the online course I’ve been taking on JavaScript.

Additionally, My learning pace is fast and I’m versatile when it comes to learning (this can be proven by my ability to pick up coding when I do not have 1% prior knowledge of computers and how they work) new things.

Would you be interested in a gig that might pay you $70 usd per 1200 words? I want to refer you to a company I work with. It's not guaranteed but they'll at least pay for your test articles.

If you are, please let me know so we can arrange to talk by email (I can't do PMs as I don't use the email I registered with anymore).

And please, even if you aren't interested kindly let me know so I can remove some of the details here.

Cheers.
Hello SmartyPant, Call me and pardon me for acting as a gatecrasher, if OP isn’t interested or the opportunity is open for more than one person, I’d love if I can be given an opportunity to prove myself.

Your problem is jumping up and down from one place to another with no plan in mind.

Who is to say you won't dump Nodejs when something else comes up?

You don't need advice, you need patience... Calm down and stick to something for the next 3 months. Whatever it is, just STICK TO IT!

How does someone who barely know programming fundamentals go on to start DSA? The way una dey rush this thing day fear me
My thought exactly, CSS sef, you just don’t master it, you need persistence and regular practice by taking on designs to implement.

Don't get used to using ides sha. Google doesn't let you use them alongside other companies for code pairing interviews. It's word document. Use notepad sometimes too.
Like you’d not be allowed to use VSC, how do you debug, test and run your code?

I guess frontend ain't your thing then. Try to use your knowledge in javascript to learn backend development, node js & express.
No I disagree. If he decides to go the Backend path, he’s very likely to run too. Coding is not easy. It’s one of the most complex thing I’ve ever ventured all my life.

check your manual...oil change interval is specified there...its usually in run hours,
visco 2000 is the oil I prefer, its reddish in color. seahorse may be ok ,, don't know. just try and change the oil as per the change interval recommended by the manufacturer. 20w 50 is the grade of oil recommended by most gen manufacturers, using a thinner oil 0w 30, will result in shortages
Thank you. Barely put it on, in the past 3 weeks, I’ve used it in -6 hours.

Oil change should be between 60-100 hours max. Assuming oil standards are same, you should be looking at SAE 10w-30 or 20W-50. The former is really pricey. You can go for either Mobil or Total.
Thank you. Maybe I should get the gallon(should be 3-4 liters).

you must have abused the gen, and being economical with the truth...your engine needs an overhaul, and based on the skill of the local repairmen, the gen will never be the same again.......compare cost of the overhaul vs buying a new gen...and make an informed decision

what kills gens
1. overloading the gen
2. not maintaining good oil change intervals
3. using fake/substandard oil
4. not replacing the oil after running for 10 to 20hrs on first use--when you bought the gen new.

in your case, likely items 2 to 4
2— what’s a good oil changing interval based on hours. Generator doesn’t take much load, an SPG3000 powering a table side fridge, fan and charges laptop and max 5 phones?

3— what’s are your standard oil products that you can suggest. I’m currently using SEAHORSE.
